samsolite: I'm having the same issues as you are. I want to dual boot my HP650 with Windows 8.1 already installed on one partition.
When I tried installing Linux Mint the installation process couldn't recognize the other disk space. (See attached photos)
I've also tried using GParted, yet same thing.
Has anybody successfully dual booted HP650 please give me tips on how to go about this. I'm guessing the partition table is gpt, not mbr. If you're sure secure boot is not enabled in the bios settings you can install gdisk, apparently it's a tool that can convert gpt partitions to mbr. You can install it from your Linux bootable disk |

FrankLampard: In tutorials online I normal see, install along with Windows Well I always use the last option, it's just that it's a little more technical than "install alongside windows" , but if you're familiar with partitioning your harddrive and all that sort of thing, you can select the last option |

Hello, Some useless apps keep installing themselves on my android phone every time I connect to the Internet. I'm using OPSSON P9. I uninstalled those apps several times they still come back whenever I restart my phone , I've even disabled my android from installing apps not from Google play store still the same results . I don't know if there's anyone in the house that has the solution to this problem. Has this happened to anyone here too ? How did you stop it?
Cc honsule, puskin , dragnet Is your phone rooted?, install from unknown sources unchecked? Maybe you should get a firewall app like opera max or no root firewall and disable internet access to all apps and enable one by one - so you can identify which app you enabled that initiates the apps downloading (and your phone doesn't need to be rooted to do this). Afterwards, if it isn't a critical system app you can uninstall it |

Note: I'm okay with my present upgrade except for this glitch/bug If I'm in the Wrong thread please direct Me to the right one. Go ahead, try a nightly, maybe it will work better than the stable. I have tried a stable that was a lot more buggy than the nightly before. Might be a good idea to read the changelog of the nightly first |

fabolakers: That's the problem. I don't see the sent messages. What I get is just a pop up message that says last SMS cost 10 or 15 naira. But I don't receive it sometimes. It just happened again. The first charges was from my mtn line this morning and this one is from my glo line which is 10. No trace of SMS sent in sent folder. I've installed a new OS then I started installing all my apps one by one to monitor it. At first I wasn't charged throughout last night till this morning until I started using internet and the first app I installed was MTK engineering which I used in tweaking my IMEI number in other to use GLO BIS. After that I installed Nova launcher and the charges started after that. So I don't know which is giving me the problem. If it's between changing of IMEI, installing MTK engineering or the Nova launcher. Eeyah sorry. Now I have one question, does it ever work when you're not connected to the internet? If not maybe you can install an internet firewall app like norootfirewall and use it to enable only certain apps from connecting to the internet |

MTN charges ₦15 which is sim 1 while GLO charges ₦10 which is sim 2. I've called customer care of both network and they're not helping. Glo said the number is not showing on their side. Just a name which is USA 1. I've lost a lot of cash to this rubbish. My phone is Gionee M5. Please help.
Note: I don't see any trace of text message in my sent message folder but I some times get a pop up message which says "last sms cost ₦15 or ₦10 and sometimes I don't get it. Barywhyte: A system with windows8 preinstalled is a good hardware with capability for virtualization. U can't lose ur license that way. Hardware are cheap these days. Actually, if you buy any new low end pc today, it will probably be running win8 or win10. That doesn't mean it can handle virtualization properly (i.e. without significant performance lag) |
Politics › Re: Buhari Adds Mohammed Birthday As Public Holiday by blackweaver(m): 3:56pm On Dec 22, 2015 |
APCLyingBastard: Since I was born in this Nigeria I know of only 4 religious holidays - Christmas, Easter , Eid el Kabir and Eid el Malaud.
Just today Buhari has added another religious holiday by declaring December, 28 a public holiday.
According to Buhari we will observe mohammed's birthday for the first time in the history of Nigeria. The Federal govt has declared December 28 as a public holiday to celebrate mohammed's birthday.
Waiting for them to declare Friday a work free day and Sunday the beginning of the work week. They can also replace our Gregorian calender with that of the Islamic calender and take us to 1426 since we are heading to the stone ages.
Yeye Actually December 28 is a public holiday because boxing day (december 26) - which is usually a public holiday, falls on a saturday Nigeria has always celebrated 3 muslim holidays - Eid el Kabir, Eid el Maulud AND Eid el Fitri. Eid el Maulud is actually Mohammed's birthday, so it's not new. The only thing different about it is that we already celebrated it earlier this year. This is possible because the Islamic calendar (354 days) is shorter than the Gregorian calendar (365 days) |

Barywhyte: Compare to the advantage of havin access to several hardwares/OSs at the same time? And by the way, how much is this hardware you are talking? Of what use is celeron processor to windows 8 or windows 10? Except you are using Linux where hardware is not a big issue. (excluding redhat) Yeah, but what if the system came with win8 pre-installed? should the person just forfeit his license? |
Computers › Re: Ubuntu Linux by blackweaver(m): 9:44am On Dec 22, 2015 |
Barywhyte: I just don't understand why people keep talking about dual boot when there are free virtual machines out there. And for those having problems with dual booting, just know that if your machine's firmware is UEFI, probably preinstalled with legacy OS, u can as well forget about successful dual booting, thanks to the Microsoft jealousy I will give you one reason why dual boot rather than use vms: performance, shared resources. Especially if your hardware is not that powerful. Imagine using a vm on a celeron processor or atom, or if you have limited ram. Not everyone can afford the latest/most powerful hardware. Does that mean the person has to suffer horrible performance because he wants to try out a new os? |
