Religion / Re: Should I Leave The Church Because Of Him? Pease I Need Your Advice by blackweaver(m): 7:54pm On Mar 05, 2017
ukandi1:
As a married man, I have seen this before. It doesn't just fade away by mere reprimands or threats. Better leave d church. Ur salvation was never tied to a particular worship centre. Pls leave d church and never look back.
Had to leave for a lady I found too appealing to me. My wife never knew whybi had to change . asked me one day and I told her it was because of distance. The very lady in question was out to get me . and believe me, I found her very tempting and appealing.

@refiner, Listen to this person, he speaks sense.

All of you people saying she must have feelings for the person, is it a crime? Maybe she does have feelings, maybe she doesn't but that doesn't solve her problem. Leave the church if you need to, because the same people who are saying you should talk to the church elders are the same people that would castigate you if you eventually messed up with with him. None of them would remember that you were asking advice on what you should do

my techno G9 phone just restart itself while i was using it. IT came back on, but the phone external usb storage got damaged (it advised me to try reformating it, which i tried doing without luck), and the phone wont let me mount the SD card. I did a factory reset, but this problem persist. Now im just left with the 1GIG internal storage. please what should i do to rectify this issue

Have you tried using another sdcard? It might be that the one on your phone has gotten bad. SOmething similar happened to me recently, counldn't mount card, kept saying i needed to format it. I eventually replaced the sdcard. Phone is working without any issues

Edit - I saw kubuntu instead of Xubuntu
Old - - I don't like KDE a tiny bit.

NEW - oh Xubuntu is lightweight too but I can't trade good ui for anything else.

A friend told me MATE desktop is pretty lightweight though.

Mate ui is like gnome 2.x but uses gnome 3 libraries

Likely a network locked phone that needs an unlocking code... Can easily be unlocked.

You also need to verify that the frequency bands supported are actually used by the GSM companies (although it's actually rare to find phones that are not supported in Nigeria )

listen to me. in the area of windows, windows and mac came out before linux. windows was distrubuted to 3rd party OEMs that is why Windows became popular, along side apple mac os. linux came out much later. like sailfish or tizen os now than android and ios is already popular.

so forget pc

but how Andriod became popular than IOS? when apple released the iPhone in 2007 and latter called the OS IOS, every phone maker was looking for an OS to put in there phone to put up against the iPhone. then google annonced android os in 2008. normally each company would had continue to build its own OS from scratch would will take much longet than even 2009/2010. or since Android was free and "open source" and was built to some extent. these OEM can get android free! and edit it (open source) to use on thier own phones.

THIS IS HOW ANDROID BECAME POPULAR!

android did not become popular yesterday.

how ever some companies like nokia did not buy the idea. the went ahead to build thier own OS - meego which was debut on the nokia N9 in 2011. but meego was discontinued.

and symbian was not a top class mobile OS. like android and IOS. it was only made to look more modern like these OS's with symbian belle.

same for blackberry with blackberry 7.0 OS. until blackberry completed thier OS Blackberry 10 in 2012/2013. which was also discontinued last year 2015.

the story is toooo much to type. so i expect you to try and understand with my few words. but if you dont. you can go online and read about all the mobile os and every related article you can find. or drop you whats app number so i can send you a VN.

You make very intelligent points and I can respect that. However there is one point you're not factoring :
When windows phone first came out, a number of the major phone vendors jumped on, nobody wanted an Android only monopoly or an Android / iOS duopoly. However, because of poor sales they started dropping winphone. And that was because most people didn't want widows phones. Only Nokia had some measure of success. If people had been able to customize certain things like the default ui, keyboard, browser etc, I'm pretty sure windows phone would have done better

bluetooth is not just for file transfer. It's used in playing multiplayer games, its used to pair external devices like mouse and keyboard, its used to pair music speakers and earphones, its used to pair smart watches... Etc. So to some of us its quite a big deal.

I'm pretty sure iphones have Bluetooth, at least I believe that the point of not having a headset jack on the new iPhone is that you can use a Bluetooth headset, also I should think you can pair your iOS smartwatch with your iPhone phone, whether with Bluetooth or some other wireless technology. As for using mice and keyboards, I don't know but I'm curious, why would you need to use those on a phone?
I'm guessing you're a gamer and probably customize your phone a lot. To you, Bluetooth is very important. But my argument isn't about people as savvy as you. For every one of you that likes to do gymnastics with his phone, there are probably 10 or more people who don't really care much
Phones / Re: 6 Reasons Android Will Always Be More Popular Than Apple's Ios by blackweaver(m): 9:51am On Dec 06, 2016
One other thing, the notion that the existence of Bluetooth, and those other connectivity features and even the presence of a memory card is an advantage is relative - especially in the main markets targeted by google and apple. Nowadays a lot of people rarely use Bluetooth for file transfer, it's so slow anyway.

3. Yes more popular than iPhone. But do you know the first reason Android is more popular than iPhone? It is "Android is open source". And android being open source is not an advantage to the consumer over the iphone. That's is what I mean. But the OP was clearly stating advantages of android over the iPhone. Like saying android has multiple connection options and iPhone does not have Bluetooth.

Not sure I agree with the notion that android is more popular because it's open source. Symbian was open source before it died out, meego was open source too. Linux is an open source os, yet windows is far more popular.
I would say more of Google's ability to attract vendors to make android phone (which is where galaxy wave failed ), plus ease of development for the platform (which is where Symbian failed), plus ease of user customization (which is a major reason why windows phones never quite made it).
Yes I know lack of apps was also a factor, but apps are a chicken and egg situation. The more users you have, the more likely you are to have apps. And the more apps you have, the more likely you are to have users
Of course it also helped that google wasn't actually in the smartphone business, so they weren't in competition with their vendors

can you please givee an actual example of what you want to do with android the way you want and not the way the manufacturer said it should be. that cant be done on an iphone?

There's a particular way I like my phone looking; for instance, my home screen. I group my main apps a certain way, and for the rest, there's the app drawer. Yes I know the iphone has folders and all, but it's not enough. I have only 2 home screens and I want it that way. And I don't want all the icons cluttering my screen either

PhonePlanet:

the problem here is that like you said, you have and will never use an iphone, therefore, you're talking from a biased point. i have used all, iPhone, Andriod and im currently using Windows. i can state the advantages and disadvateges of all. i am not baised because im a fan of non. and you are a fan of android.

If you read my post properly, you would see that I said even if I did get an Iphone, it would never be my main phone. I didtn't say I would never use an iphone. And actually if I was to say the OS i'm a fan of, it would be Symbian, not android.

PhonePlanet:

3. more popular is just the title of tread. but the content of the tread, the op was stating the upsides of android and downsides of iphone. thats advantages and disadvantages. i can write a full article on why amdroid is more popular without metioning the iphone.

more popular than what? There are essentially 2 smartphone oses, the others are virtually nonexistent

Limited is what way? Availability? Does the iPhone run out of stock? They don't make enough iphones or what? Specification? Does the iPhone not beat every other phone in the market in performance? Camera? After pixel which is next? What you should say is the varsity on android make consumers able to chooses between different specifications and price based on their(the consumer) preference. But iPhone just comes in one variant and one price range based on colour and price. Therefore people who's preference does not fall into this (iPhone) tend to go for an android.

Personally, I believe that for most people, there's no one phone that has everything that a person would like in a phone. At the end of the day it depends on what you feel gives you the best of both worlds. If every android phone released each year was a samsung S series, or even made only by samsung, IOS would probably be at least almost as popular if not even more popular (that was the reason why samsung wave phones weren't so popular despite being as customizable - not everyone wants to be stuck to one phone vendor); but because of the variety of devices, people who have a low budget can buy a cheap android phone, those who want certain specs would buy phones with those specs. When the OP was talking about variety, that's what he meant.

PhonePlanet:

Talking about customization, launcher, icons and changing of values. Yes android has it. But when would you guys start to realize that rooting of android phones (except or stealing and hacking of apps) only solves problems that are only exclusive to android phones in the first place!!! You root your phone and flash all the custom roms in the world 'cos your phone will never get software updates from the manufacturer. And iPhone does! Or you root your phone to delete unwanted apps and bloatware, which the iPhone does not come with!! So why should I jailbreak an iPhone? Even if jailbreaking was the same as rooting...... Oh yeah I know... Download, hack and use apps developers spend their time and money on? Nah!

I think you miss a major reason a lot of people use android. It isn't about fixing an issue, it's about getting your phone to do what you want it to do the way you want it to do - not necessarily the way the manufacturer says it should be done. I for one won't use an iphone as my main phone even if I got one for free, why? Because it would frustrate me to no end, I don't have the kind of choice I have with android. For the same reason, I won't use the windows phone. Besides software updates are overrated. I currently have a phone running cyanogenmod that can be updated that can be upgraded to the version that corresponds to android 7 but i'm not going to upgrade to it yet; why? Because there is a particular system framework that is important to me and until it supports android 7, i'll pass. Agreed with an Iphone, I can get the latest update; but I hope I can just as easily go back to the previous version (I did that when I first got marshmallow on my phone until I got another update that worked better for me)

PhonePlanet:

I am not saying android is not more popular and does not have advantages over the iPhone. Of course there are but..
Even if you must state advantages of android over the iPhone, DO YOUR RESEARCH!! Don't just start typing...

I think the article was actually more about which is more popular , rather than which is better and why it is so. That said, I don't fully agree with everything the OP posted either

Do you realise that racing cars ONLY come in manual? There's a reason why people in naija can still buy brand new cars that are manual - because crazy makers still make them, and I'm pretty sure Nigerian manual drivers are not numerous enough to justify manufacturers making them - in other words, it's not only in naija that people drive manual, there are lots of people in developed countries who feel that driving with auto is not real driving

Those stunts in fast and furious movies would NEVER work with auto

Like i said, try to get another device/charger ti charge the battery to 100% and see if the phone will run down immediately. Either way, you will probably need to take it to a phone technician to fix whatever is wrong with it

it does not last at all, once I remove the charger it will not stay up to 2 minutes before it will shutdown

Does it charge at all? Does it reach 100%? Can you charge the battery to 100% on another similar phone (or use a desktop charger) and put the battery back on your phone?

I don't know for sure, but i'm suspecting that the phone's charging port might actually be the fault - maybe the battery is not charging when the phone is plugged in

Can you give more details?

Is it that the battery never gets to 100%, or the battery runs down too quickly or what? When you say you tried another battery, how long did it last before it ran down? How long does the one that came with the phone last?

Unfortunlately, flashing the phone won't help; even if you bought the phone brand new, you would still have that problem. Just thank God the phone supports 900/1800 gsm or the phone wouldn't even work in this country.

Hello people..my LG D415 from Tmobile is refusing to switch to 3G. Any idea how I can resolve this please?

I don't know for sure, but checking the specs for Tmobile D415 (www.lg.com/us/cell-phones/lg-D415-optimus-l90) it says the 3g bands the phone supports are 2 (1900mhz), 4 (1700mhz) and 5 (850mhz). Unfortunately from what I can research, only band 1 (2100mhz) is used for 3g in nigeria.

If this is true, that might be why your phone is not receiving 3g signals

What is your reason for this statement?

After some time of using Android phones, they tend to use up a lot of memory, especially if you're the type of person that plays heavy games on phone. At first your phone will run smoothly, but a time will come when ram will be a performance issue. Ram more than 1.5gb reduces the chance of that happening and the effect if it does happen

Do you download or stream videos, whether from facebook or YouTube or some other site? If so, that is a major reason why your data doesn't last; also if you download large files. Install Opera Max from the play store and use it to manage your data. It helps to reduce your data and with it you can also use it to find the apps that are draining your data.
