Religion / Re: Should I Leave The Church Because Of Him? Pease I Need Your Advice by blackweaver(m): 7:54pm On Mar 05, 2017 |
ukandi1: @refiner, Listen to this person, he speaks sense. All of you people saying she must have feelings for the person, is it a crime? Maybe she does have feelings, maybe she doesn't but that doesn't solve her problem. Leave the church if you need to, because the same people who are saying you should talk to the church elders are the same people that would castigate you if you eventually messed up with with him. None of them would remember that you were asking advice on what you should do 2 Likes 1 Share |

Phones / Re: 6 Reasons Android Will Always Be More Popular Than Apple's Ios by blackweaver(m): 9:25am On Dec 07, 2016 |
PhonePlanet: You make very intelligent points and I can respect that. However there is one point you're not factoring : When windows phone first came out, a number of the major phone vendors jumped on, nobody wanted an Android only monopoly or an Android / iOS duopoly. However, because of poor sales they started dropping winphone. And that was because most people didn't want widows phones. Only Nokia had some measure of success. If people had been able to customize certain things like the default ui, keyboard, browser etc, I'm pretty sure windows phone would have done better |

Norman4real: I'm pretty sure iphones have Bluetooth, at least I believe that the point of not having a headset jack on the new iPhone is that you can use a Bluetooth headset, also I should think you can pair your iOS smartwatch with your iPhone phone, whether with Bluetooth or some other wireless technology. As for using mice and keyboards, I don't know but I'm curious, why would you need to use those on a phone? I'm guessing you're a gamer and probably customize your phone a lot. To you, Bluetooth is very important. But my argument isn't about people as savvy as you. For every one of you that likes to do gymnastics with his phone, there are probably 10 or more people who don't really care much |
Phones / Re: 6 Reasons Android Will Always Be More Popular Than Apple's Ios by blackweaver(m): 9:51am On Dec 06, 2016 |
One other thing, the notion that the existence of Bluetooth, and those other connectivity features and even the presence of a memory card is an advantage is relative - especially in the main markets targeted by google and apple. Nowadays a lot of people rarely use Bluetooth for file transfer, it's so slow anyway. |
Phones / Re: 6 Reasons Android Will Always Be More Popular Than Apple's Ios by blackweaver(m): 9:42am On Dec 06, 2016 |
PhonePlanet: Not sure I agree with the notion that android is more popular because it's open source. Symbian was open source before it died out, meego was open source too. Linux is an open source os, yet windows is far more popular. I would say more of Google's ability to attract vendors to make android phone (which is where galaxy wave failed ), plus ease of development for the platform (which is where Symbian failed), plus ease of user customization (which is a major reason why windows phones never quite made it). Yes I know lack of apps was also a factor, but apps are a chicken and egg situation. The more users you have, the more likely you are to have apps. And the more apps you have, the more likely you are to have users Of course it also helped that google wasn't actually in the smartphone business, so they weren't in competition with their vendors |
Phones / Re: 6 Reasons Android Will Always Be More Popular Than Apple's Ios by blackweaver(m): 5:26pm On Dec 05, 2016 |
PhonePlanet: There's a particular way I like my phone looking; for instance, my home screen. I group my main apps a certain way, and for the rest, there's the app drawer. Yes I know the iphone has folders and all, but it's not enough. I have only 2 home screens and I want it that way. And I don't want all the icons cluttering my screen either PhonePlanet: If you read my post properly, you would see that I said even if I did get an Iphone, it would never be my main phone. I didtn't say I would never use an iphone. And actually if I was to say the OS i'm a fan of, it would be Symbian, not android. PhonePlanet: more popular than what? There are essentially 2 smartphone oses, the others are virtually nonexistent |
Phones / Re: 6 Reasons Android Will Always Be More Popular Than Apple's Ios by blackweaver(m): 12:19pm On Dec 05, 2016 |
PhonePlanet: Personally, I believe that for most people, there's no one phone that has everything that a person would like in a phone. At the end of the day it depends on what you feel gives you the best of both worlds. If every android phone released each year was a samsung S series, or even made only by samsung, IOS would probably be at least almost as popular if not even more popular (that was the reason why samsung wave phones weren't so popular despite being as customizable - not everyone wants to be stuck to one phone vendor); but because of the variety of devices, people who have a low budget can buy a cheap android phone, those who want certain specs would buy phones with those specs. When the OP was talking about variety, that's what he meant. PhonePlanet: I think you miss a major reason a lot of people use android. It isn't about fixing an issue, it's about getting your phone to do what you want it to do the way you want it to do - not necessarily the way the manufacturer says it should be done. I for one won't use an iphone as my main phone even if I got one for free, why? Because it would frustrate me to no end, I don't have the kind of choice I have with android. For the same reason, I won't use the windows phone. Besides software updates are overrated. I currently have a phone running cyanogenmod that can be updated that can be upgraded to the version that corresponds to android 7 but i'm not going to upgrade to it yet; why? Because there is a particular system framework that is important to me and until it supports android 7, i'll pass. Agreed with an Iphone, I can get the latest update; but I hope I can just as easily go back to the previous version (I did that when I first got marshmallow on my phone until I got another update that worked better for me) PhonePlanet: I think the article was actually more about which is more popular , rather than which is better and why it is so. That said, I don't fully agree with everything the OP posted either |

Car Talk / Re: Manual Drivers, Why The Superiority Complex? by blackweaver(m): 10:16am On Nov 12, 2016 |
Kassidy90: Do you realise that racing cars ONLY come in manual? There's a reason why people in naija can still buy brand new cars that are manual - because crazy makers still make them, and I'm pretty sure Nigerian manual drivers are not numerous enough to justify manufacturers making them - in other words, it's not only in naija that people drive manual, there are lots of people in developed countries who feel that driving with auto is not real driving Those stunts in fast and furious movies would NEVER work with auto |

tspun: Like i said, try to get another device/charger ti charge the battery to 100% and see if the phone will run down immediately. Either way, you will probably need to take it to a phone technician to fix whatever is wrong with it |
Phones / Re: Android, Anyone? Part II by blackweaver(m): 11:40am On Oct 27, 2016 |
tspun: Does it charge at all? Does it reach 100%? Can you charge the battery to 100% on another similar phone (or use a desktop charger) and put the battery back on your phone? I don't know for sure, but i'm suspecting that the phone's charging port might actually be the fault - maybe the battery is not charging when the phone is plugged in |
Phones / Re: Android, Anyone? Part II by blackweaver(m): 11:22am On Oct 27, 2016 |
tspun: Can you give more details? Is it that the battery never gets to 100%, or the battery runs down too quickly or what? When you say you tried another battery, how long did it last before it ran down? How long does the one that came with the phone last? |

Harvigh: Unfortunlately, flashing the phone won't help; even if you bought the phone brand new, you would still have that problem. Just thank God the phone supports 900/1800 gsm or the phone wouldn't even work in this country. 1 Like |

Harvigh: I don't know for sure, but checking the specs for Tmobile D415 (www.lg.com/us/cell-phones/lg-D415-optimus-l90) it says the 3g bands the phone supports are 2 (1900mhz), 4 (1700mhz) and 5 (850mhz). Unfortunately from what I can research, only band 1 (2100mhz) is used for 3g in nigeria. If this is true, that might be why your phone is not receiving 3g signals 1 Like |

kinggenesis: After some time of using Android phones, they tend to use up a lot of memory, especially if you're the type of person that plays heavy games on phone. At first your phone will run smoothly, but a time will come when ram will be a performance issue. Ram more than 1.5gb reduces the chance of that happening and the effect if it does happen 1 Like |

timmyblast: Do you download or stream videos, whether from facebook or YouTube or some other site? If so, that is a major reason why your data doesn't last; also if you download large files. Install Opera Max from the play store and use it to manage your data. It helps to reduce your data and with it you can also use it to find the apps that are draining your data. |
