Pharoh:

I see nothing wrong in asking for the question to be debated, they are more of a topic and he is right in asking for advanced knowledge about this questions. Better still they should just strike those contentious issues out of the debate like the Jos crisis, excess crude account, foreign reserve or anything related to the budget. I would not have even gone far like this if i was goodluck, there is absolutely no point in having a debate before a presidential election.
hOW WOULD YOU SEE ANYTHING WRONG, IF YOUR RELATIVE WAS AMONG THE VICTIMS IN JOS WILL YOU STRIKE OUT THE QUESTION?

Opuso:

Dr.Goodluck Jonathan is thebest amongst all the candidates jostling for that office.

Power generation has improved, fuel scarcity is a thing of the past. There is a uniform pricing of petroleum products
around the country. Flood victims in states like Sokoto and Lagos were taken care of by Dr. Goodluck Jonathan´s government.
Nigerian citizens in Egypt and Lybia were evacuated when violence engulfed the place. He has provided funding for the Nigerian film industry.
His intervention in the textile industry has saved thosands of jobs. Investors confidence in the Nigerian economy is rising. Oil production will increase to pre militancy levels next month.

If Nigerians have been very critical of the likes of Obasanjo, Babangida e.t.c i dont think things would have degenerated to this level.

Please leave Jonathan and his people alone !!!!! What do you Nigerians want?
Keep decieving yourself, best ko, best ni!
He is presently the worst of all the candidates vying for the position of President, and shameless of him to demand to see the debate questions ahead of the interview.

FG bars service chiefs, ministers, others from use of tinted glasses
News Feb 25, 2011
Jonathan, Sambo, Mark, Bankole exempted

By KINGSLEY OMONOBI

ABUJA – The Federal Government, yesterday, announced the ban of the use of tinted glasses by Nigerians, including the Service Chiefs, the Inspector General of Police, ministers, members of the National Assembly, Judges and other top government officials.

Minister of Police Affairs, Mr Humphrey Abah, who made the announcement, yesterday, however noted that President Goodluck Jonathan, Vice President Namadi Sambo, Senate President David Mark and his deputy, Speaker of the House of Representatives and his deputy as well as state governors and their deputies were exempted from the use of tinted glasses.

Explaining reasons for the ban, which is to commence from Monday, the minister said the measure was part of security strategies being put in place to guarantee security in the build up to the April general elections to “help us overcome the challenges of modern crimes like bombings, terrorists acts and the movement of arms and explosives.”

Disclosing that by his announcement, all hitherto permits or authorisation given in the past for the use of tinted glasses stood cancelled, the minister stated that vehicles with factory fitted tinted glasses which are verifiable would be exempted from the ban in the interim.

He said the government action was covered under the Motor Vehicles Prohibition of Tainted Glass Act Cap M21 (An Act to prohibit the tainting or treating in any other way, any glass fitted in a motor vehicle so as to render persons in the vehicle obscure or invincible), adding that all states Police Commissioners are to ensure strict compliance with the directive.

On punitive measures to be meted out to those who ignore the government directive, the minister said any such violator would have him or herself to blame as Policemen at checkpoints had been given directives to stop such cars and physically remove such tints from the vehicles once it is discovered to be fitted films.

A lot of GEJ supporters have already decided that Silence is the best answer to the jobless majority on Nairaland,

My brother if we are jobless today - is that a plus to GEJ? Should you not ask the man you ably support what he intends to do to the close to 50 million unemployed Nigerian youth? How can we have a country with so much resources, yet the Govt through their senseless and visionless policies and programs have deprived people from making a living for themselves.
The hallmark of a progressive society is not one in which the govt is sharing money to citizens as is being done by GEJ and his cohorts in the PDP, but a society that provides the freedom and liberty that ensures everyman can fend for himself, that each person is empowered to live to his full potential. That is what we ask for, but thats not what GEJ promised to give, infact he promised us nothing!

marvix:

those criticising GEJ today where the same people who could not reason when Yaradua was sick that Yaradua was not the problem they screamed GEJ TAKE OVER!!!! but today they are confused again.
maybe their misconception is that the protests during the Yaradua saga was what produced GEJ, I make bold to say that the protests had nothing to do with GEJ becoming President, GEj only knew that caution always has to be taken when attempting to drink a hot soup, and what soup could have been hotter than the Presidency of the nation?

GEj is campaigning now, Buhari does not even have a campaign office in more than 20states and Ribadu does not even know if he really wants to run with his vice then tomorrow they will be complaining that they were rigged out.
The reason we clamoured for GEJ to take over is the same reason we are rejecting him today, no man or group must hold the nation to ransome, all things must be done appropriately and according to the laid down rules we all attested to. The scenario of some pple hiding under the sickness of Yaradua to loot the funds must stop, let us know who is responsible for the failure of govt policies and it is obvious now.
The fight was not for GEJ, the fight was for the soul of nigeria.
The fight today is also not against GEJ, the fight is to ensure that this nation can be assured of a progresssive future, that our children can live in a society that appreciates their potentials and provides the basic facilities for them to achieve their desires. - That fight demands that GEJ be rejected because of his incompetence, that PDP be denounced because of their lack of progressive ideals that can move the nation forward, that all the corrupt politicians and non-performing reps that GEJ has surrounded himself with be swept away forever.

the reopening of three textile mills in Kaduna that had previously been closed including the United Nigeria Textile Mills Ltd.; which has reopened as a result of accessing funds from the N200 billion textile industry bail out funds leading to the re engagement of 2000 workers that were laid off when the company went out of business.

addition of one new Federal University in each of the six geo-politcal zones for which work has already begun. The six new federal universities did not exist last year

Politics / Re: Let's Compare Their Track Records! Buhari Vs Ribadu Vs Gej by blinx4real(m): 12:12pm On Feb 23, 2011
Nuhu Ribadu was born in Yola, Adamawa State, on November 21, 1960. He attended Aliyu Mustapha Primary School Yola from 1966 to1973 and Yelwa Government Secondary School, from 1973-1977. Between 1978 and 1980, he was at the College of Preliminary Studies, CPS, Yola, for his A-level studies.
In 1980, he gained admission to study law at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Kaduna State, graduating in 1983. He graduated from the Nigerian Law School and was called to the bar in 1984. After his national service, he joined the Nigeria Police, where he rose to become head of the Legal and Prosecution Department, Police Headquarters, Abuja. His 18-year service in the Nigeria Police culminated in his appointment as pioneer Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in April, 2003.

Prior to his appointment as the Chairman of EFCC, Ribadu served as key operational officer in the General Investigation Department and the Force Criminal Investigation Department of the of the Nigerian Police. He was also a member of the highly commended Failed Banks Tribunal that sanitized the rottenness in the Nigerian Banking sector of the late eighties. He helped pioneer the setting up of the Legal and Prosecutions Department of the Nigerian Police, a unit that served as think tank and policy nerve center of the police.

Ribadu has been recipient of several awards as a police officer, prosecutor and Chairman, EFCC. He received the Inspector General of Police Awards in 1997, 1998 and 2000 and the Special Commendation of Mr. President in 2005, for the successful prosecution of several advance fee fraud, banking fraud and sundry economic crime cases.

He was also specially commended by the Accountant General of the Federation for successfully prosecuting some corrupt public servants in 1999. He was a key member of the Economic Management Team from 2003 to 2008 that initiated and drove the wide ranging public sector reforms, which laid the foundations for the socio-economic rejuvenation of Nigeria. Alongside this responsibility, he also served as a member of the Presidential Committee on Trade Malpractices, the National Joint Intelligence Board, the National Committee on Public Service Reforms and the National Cybercrime Working Group. Ribadu has been widely acknowledged as bringing to his job a deep passion and an exemplary sense of dedication and efficiency. In three years, the EFCC under his leadership built the now most celebrated Crimes Training and Research Institute in the sub-region. The agency also recorded about 200 criminal convictions, a record that is far ahead of the total record of the police in its 147 years of existence, and far ahead of the Attorney-General’s office in the 49 years of the country’s post-colonial history.
These achievements helped make the EFCC a reference Law Enforcement Agency on the continent; and the bold investigation, prosecution, and conviction of Nigeria’s hitherto untouchable politicians and businessmen earned him the reputation of being a foremost and respected anti-corruption crusader in the world. It is to his record that he rejected a N30 million bribe from one of the country’s major money laundering offenders in 2005, although the most sensational report of his ethical conduct thus far was the 2007 rejection of a $15 million bribe from a former governor from one of Nigeria’s Niger Delta states. The businessman has been convicted for the crime and the former governor is currently undergoing trial. In acknowledgement of these modest achievements, he was promoted Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), in March 2007; the African Union put him on its advisory board on anti-corruption matters; and he was lately invited to join the advisory board of the friends of the World Bank/UNODC initiative on stolen asset recovery.
Recognizing the increasing trans-border dimension of financial and economic crimes, Ribadu, a regular attendee at the annual INTERPOL retreats, led an enforcement initiative that led to the founding of the West African Conference of Police Chiefs, and which is today a strong mechanism in the fight against money laundering and the financing of terrorism in West Africa today. Mr. Ribadu holds an LLM degree with emphasis on the jurisprudence of corruption in Nigeria from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Nigeria.

In 2008, he was at the Harvard Business School where he did a program in the strategic management of law enforcement agencies. Since 2004, notable newspapers and magazines in Nigeria have repeatedly voted Ribadu, Man of the Year, in recognition of his outstanding achievements as a committed crusader against corruption and other related crimes. Ribadu’s modest achievements in EFCC, most notable amongst which are the delisting of Nigeria from the FATF List of Non-Cooperative Countries & Territories, admission into the prestigious Egmont Group and the withdrawal of the US Treasury advisory on Nigeria by the FINCEN.

He has also attracted donor support from European Union (EU), UNODC, UNDP, World Bank, and a host of others running into millions of US dollars, and also built an effective collaborative effort with the FBI, SOCA [UK], Metropolitan Police [UK], Dutch Police, German Police, South African Police and a host of other Law Enforcement Agencies in the world. In 2008, Ribadu completed the senior executive course of the Nigeria Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies where he was conferred with the Membership of the National Institute, MNI.

In June 2010, Ribadu was awarded the Doctor of Laws (honoris causa) by Babcock University, Ogun State, in recognition of his "loyal breeding", "lofty aim" and "resolute courage" as well as his "fierce stance against corruption in the face of sponsored disgrace and certain death that has resulted into positive changes and global acclaim hitherto considered impossible". Until recently, Ribadu was a senior fellow at St. Anthony’s College, Oxford University, as well as a visiting fellow at the Center for Global Development, Washington, DC. Ribadu is married to Zara, a lawyer, and they are blessed with six children. Ribadu enjoys watching football and reading books on human rights, politics, corruption and economic and financial crimes.

We love this Man,and countries like Nigeria need fresh mind like that of Ribadu to move forward. This is our time, Join me now !!

Our humble President Jonathan like Obama may not have the records and experience Buhari has, but he is the most democratic of all of them, with the fear of God and the determination to liberate our country. Article on Ribadu - by Abubakar Adamu, MSc, MCILT July, 2006

Any society riddled with corruption will not grow and develop because of the negative inference of corrupt practices. Corruption kills initiative and innovation. If an individual or a group who stands to fight the vices and gets the Lord’s blessing, people should give them encouragements and support and pray for them.

A good leader acts as a model of outstanding citizen and inspirational figure and guides individual and the community to grow. I draw my inspiration and personal development from many sources. Apart from my immediate family and friends, many other people influenced me and do not know their effect on me. I want to mention few people who guided me in my formative years: “Things Fall Apart” by Chinua Achebe was the first book I read completely and, since then, I have read most of Achebe’s books. Professor Chinua Achebe is therefore my literacy and literary influence. My interest in reading and writing was kindled by the works of Chinua Achebe.

My spiritual development was nurtured by my local Islamic teacher (Malam Isa Oshafu) and Malam Lawal Kalarawi, a popular preacher from Kano, for his simple and practical teachings. The fire-burning passion to fight and support human right is uplifted by Chief Gani Fawehinme’s human right campaigns --  both legal and moral. My political awareness was initiated by listening to the songs of Nigeria's and Africa's most popular artist, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti. My educational development and continual learning were actualised because of good government policies and opportunities offered by the good leaderships of Governor Joseph Gomwalk and Governor Solomon Lar of Plateau State, who awarded me scholarships for further studies.

People who make a little difference to your life should be the people one should admire and praise. The thieving politicians and government officials are not worth our adulation anymore. Why are some people fearful and scared of the name of Nuhu Ribadu and the EFCC and cannot praise their work? Those who made their money in legitimate ways and through hard work should have no fear of the agents of EFCC. The intellectual giant of Nigeria and Africa Professor Wole Soyinka, entrepreneurial guru  Alhaji Dangote, transport magnate Chiief Ilodiebe of Ekene Dili Chukwu, and others are enriching and adding values to other people’s life. They may or may not be President Obasanjo's friends; Ribadu will have no interest in their business because people are gaining from their giving and sacrifices.

Corruption and indiscipline in Nigeria have been going on most of my childhood and now in my adult life. If we want a safer country, we all have to aspire and work towards  a fair and just society;  wishing and praying for it is not enough. If we are waiting for our leaders to reform themselves, then we are part of the problem. The bad guy will not change easily, until he or she is named and shamed and also punished in equal measure. It is the case of good cop and bad cop; Malam Ribadu is on the side of good guys to bring criminals to justice. Armed robbery, political assassinations, and civil rebellions are symptoms of people’s lost hope for the future.

The murder of Engineer Funsho Williams, a governorship aspirant of Lagos State, is the continued political decays of competitive politics in Nigeria.

Chinua Achebe wrote in “Things Fall Apart” that, if bones are mention in a conversation, an old person feels uncomfortable. As was the case with the hero of the book, Okonkwo, his father was considered "efulefu" (a man without a title in Igbo community, or a toothless old woman). Okonkwo grew up to be among the respected elders in and around Umuofia; his father’s past made him unease. So those baddies who have wasted the country resources and undermine Nigeria's development are unease with the activities of the EFCC. The EFCC project has the backing and support of overseas governments and financial sectors, especially in the UK and USA. I think some Nigerians are beginning to be bored, tired of the stigma that all Nigerians are corrupt and crooks. The majority of Nigerians are honest and hardworking; they want to reclaim their dignity and self respect. The lawless and the thieves must be dealt with by the law.

Whatever the inequities and shortcomings of Obasanjo's government, the EFCC project should be evolving. I do not know the operative work of EFCC agents. The law says a suspect is presumed  innocent until proven guilty. I understand and share other people’s concern about our judicial system; I think some of Nigerian judges are doing their best under the circumstances. So, do not worry if you are not friendly with Obasanjo, Ribadu and the EFCC agents; government finance is meant for the people, keep your hands off public money and you will not be bothered by the Security Services.

Collectively Nigerians must start to acknowledge those who are working for the good of the county and those working against the country. They are starting again with "Interim Government" plot. Leave Obasanjo alone, he and his government are leaving Nigeria their legacy. It is left to those wishing to takeover the reign to give us their agenda or plot, not another diversion as the so-called ‘Third Term’ plot.

If Nigeria wants to be respected again and before investments come, we must shed the image of corruption and be trustworthy. Nigeria is a union of proud nations of rich cultures and diversity; we must retain our identity and individuality, but work on what we have in common. What we all have in common are the basic necessities of life, welfare, and wealth. It is now also poignant in the lack of safety and security; armed robbers and mobs now rule. The Bible says: “The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, and the leopard shall lie with the kids.”

The most populous state in Nigeria Lagos state is the most indebted state of the federation with a total foreign debt of N55.38 billion ($369.20 million), according to the Debt Management Office in Abuja, Nigeria. Lagos has 20% of Nigeria’s sub-regional foreign debt stock.

Can the governor of Lagos state explain this?

Have you heard of PPP before, or BOT? i.e Private parties borrow funds with a guarantee provided by the govt and repay the funds as they generate income from the investments,
The State govt will not be required to payback these monies, they will be recouped from the investments and infrastructure services

no probs, the reasoning is that for electrical components to switch off when the ignition is turned on or off, means that you are having a shor circuit somewhere along the line that is caused by the drawdon of current during those processes. Take a drive to the nearest electrician to have them take a look at it

Prophecy is not to make you fear or become jittery or to gain cheap popularity, it comes become it can be averted only if you can get God to intervene because of his mercy.
If you discount it and continue to live without the fear of God, the evil come upon you unawares.

The writer (Sonde Jimmy) is what we call a laid back, slothful and lazy writer. You classify album covers as the worst of the year and you cannot provide a responsible and articulate explanations for categorizing them as such. Comments such as
This’ the only part Sound Sultan got it wrong, even though the album is aight. We still hoping Sound sultan makes an apology for making this not so good album cover ‘cos its unusual
means nothing and says nothing.
You should give an example of how a great album cover should look like, the concepts you are looking out for and why the listed covers fall short.
