Politics › Re: South South States Lead In Nigerian Unemployment by Blue3k(m): 3:17pm On Aug 17, 2020 |
It is also important to note that the NBS classifies those engaged in agriculture as “employed” and this could be a factor as to why unemployment rate in the South South is high. This is because South South states like Akwa Ibom do not have the land mass needed for large scale farming compared to states in the North. The farming excuse doesnt fly considering lagos exist and agricultural gdp is relatively high for it's size. The unemployment is high because their economies are diversified enough among services and manufacturing enough. The state should be focusing on attracting investors and jobs training programs at it's universities. They're pretty much banking on the port to solve their problems. |

hisgrace090: The said law came barely 3 years ago and the traders have been in Ghana for years. It's actually 7 years ago. New people shouldn't go into business there. If you're arguing it shouldn't be applied retroactively that's up to the courts to decide. Again no point begging take your tax revenue back to country that wants your business. |

They could opt to join another state thst shares their ethno religious demography. Assuming they did I dont know if it help reduce crime though. |

This is happening despite the intervention of the presidents of Ghana and Nigeria through the Economic Community of West African States. Lol did the Ghanaian president say we'll disregard the law for Nigeria and ECOWAS. What ECOWAS protocol does Ghana's law break? Nigeria has similar laws on the books.

The Ghanaian Ministry of Trades has rejected claims of unfair treatment by Nigerian traders in the country during the enforcement of the Ghana Investment Promotion Council regulations. It insisted that the traders must pay the required taxes and other fees imposed on them by the authorities. Lol why do Nigerians want to do those type of businesses if you know these are their laws. Nigerians whining and complaining reaks of desperation. Return back to Nigeria if you're not willing to obey their laws. Honestly this stance was pretty easy to see coming considering the election is coming up. GUTA has been complaining bitterly about this since 2018. |

A total of 54 Nigerians arrested for unlawful entry into Ghana through unapproved routes along the Ghana-Togo frontier are awaiting repatriation, officials of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) have said.
The illegal travellers are currently in the custody of Aflao Sector Command of the GIS.
They were apprehended at various unapproved routes within the last ten days and detained at the arrival hall of the Aflao GIS, pending their repatriation to their home country.
Aflao Sector Commander of the GIS, Frederick Baah Duodu, told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the Service had begun processes to enable the illegal travellers to be deported to their home country.
"On Friday, July 10, some three officials from the Nigerian High Commission in Ghana led by one Daniel Tonibor were at Aflao to ascertain the arrest and condition of their compatriots in custody," he said.
Duodu said the suspects could spend some more time in custody to complete the processes for a successful repatriation exercise.
"The Nigerian officials in the country will have to activate processes to get an approval letter from the Togo and Benin Embassies. Of course, they will need to visit Ghana's Foreign Affairs Ministry to undergo some procedures to acquire laissez-passer for their citizenry.
"Besides, the suspects had undergone port health screening processes with their samples taken for COVID-19 test, which results are yet to arrive," he added.
The Sector Commander said though the arrival hall was not meant to serve as custody for illegal travellers, the circumstances had compelled the Command to keep the travellers there and assured that the officers were on alert to protect the borders. Lawlessness Nigerians are an embarrassment. I see why Ghana cracks down on Nigerians when it comes to deportations. Certain people have to understand not every country will coddle criminals. This is especially true when they play victim after committing a crime. If you cant live by their rules just return to Nigeria it's not that hard. |

Aristokells24: After closing Nigeria shops in Accra for 8 months and asking them to pay some amount of money, some policemen are here again locking up the Nigerian shops here in Circle Accra for no reason. This oppression must stop because I believe the reason for this is because our government no longer care for the citizens here in Ghana. Ghana has laws against foreigners owning retail shops. Nigeria has no business whining over them enforcing laws. If they feel it breaks ECOWAS protocols they can sue. Lol but Nigeria does the same sort of things with import vans and border closures. Your story just proves Ghanian police are corrupt losers who will look the other way for a decent bribe. Lol it's funny Ghanians tolerate this foolishness.
