I also had a problem with the fact that there was no criteria for the ranking. Are we using ethnic groups, religion, non indegenes ? It has to be clearly stated. Are we no longer using dictionary definition of cosmopolitan?

omohayek: Even more important than making such adjustments would be to remove the current incentives that strongly the creation of ever more states. If it were made a condition of statehood to meet a reasonable minimum viability threshold based on IGR (e.g. turning federal allocations into 1-to-1 matching grants), most of the currently existing states would be out of business in no time, and all the clamor for more states would stop immediately. This would also have the huge benefit of forcing Nigerians to pay much closer attention to how their state governments spend their revenues, since now it would be largely their own taxes on the line instead of "free manna" coming from Abuja.
Of course all of this would never happen, since it would mean the end of virtually every state in the former Northern Region. Even after 60 years of independence, the region is as far from being internally sustainable as it was when persistent fiscal deficits forced Lugard to merge it with Southern Nigeria. Well there's not going to be any new states for two reasons being electoral politics and revenue sharing. The requirements for new state creation require alot consensus. Bedides it would probably come up in any debate about adding a new state. |

Anyone that believes the state boundries are unfair should follow this process. The limiting factor is the state losing land population. It's easy to blame Gowon but the fact is nobody taken advantage of this opportunity for the past 2 decades. |

Rivers and lagos are much bigger economies so not surprised they have more activity. Ask for NEPZ and start exporting. |

I know dadiyata is 80% dead but Mubarack is 50 50 because the manner of the arrest of both Is different, Mubarack was arrested By The police and they took responsibility while dadiyata was arrested in a kidnap Manner and all security forces deny knowing anything about it. Dadiyata is most likely dead. There's been no word about him for year. Mubarak might be alive because the government would be the only logical party to blame for his death. |

Cross River State Commissioners for Commence and Industry, Rosemary Archibong has decried the non-use of Calabar Port by citizens of the state and exporters, saying “we cannot have a seaport and be lamenting on how to export products to other parts of the world.”
The Commissioner made the observation at the weekend during a one-day Export Workshop on Planning Export organised by the Calabar office of the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) in collaboration with Neighborhood Development and Empowerment organisation (NDEO).
Archibong, who lamented that the Calabar Port was lying idle with few activities as compared to Onne and Lagos Ports, stressed that there was no local government in the state that cannot boast of at least five exportable products in all the eighteen LGAs.
“We have enormous capacity in fish, cocoa, vegetables, limestone, rice, groundnut, among others, but the problem is the political will; my ministry is here to guard the participants,” she said.
In a welcome address by the Trade Promotion Advisor of (NEPC), Emmanuel Etim, he said the workshop was a clear demonstration of the Federal Government continuous efforts to spearhead the diversification of the Nigerian economy away from the oil sector through the promotion and development of the non-oil export sub-sector of the national economy.
He revealed that NEPC is motivated by the fact that Cross River is richly endowed with golden green economy of agro-allied products like palm oil, cassava, fish, among others.
In her speech, the managing director of Neghbourhood Empowerment, Valarie Henshaw said her organisation was borne out of passion for self employment, discovery, leadership, entrepreneurship, capacity and creation of wealth in order to attain financial freedom. RichBoy247: Blasphemy is punishable by death. I did not say so, the Bible says so and since Nigeria's Constitution is fashioned after the Canon Laws, let the Law takes it course. Your arguement is stupid. Blasphemy laws are unconstitutional aswell in a secular society because they're an affront to freedom of speech and religion. The government has no business mandating such practices. Btw I dont care what the bible says on the topic. The Nigerian constitution wasnt fashioned after canon clown it was fashioned after US constitution. Nigeria is supposed to be a secular state. |

Instead of worrying about what others states are doing you should focus on improving akwa Ibom with useful projects like state water utilities. Only clowns use others as an excuse for their own mediocrity. Lol its funny you claim a church is going to be a huge tourist attraction when ibom hotel failed in that aspect. When it was managed by Starwood it didn't generate any revenue to the state. Now it's a church that will according to your hair brain. The state Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Victor Antai, told the House Committee on Monday that the state government has taken over the running of the Le Meridien Ibom Hotels and Golf Resort from Starwood Ltd because, according to him, the former managers of the hotel did not remit any money to the government for the past 10 years.

The religious zealots in government kidnapped Mubarak because he dared to criticize their prophet. They refused him his basic rights to trial or allow him a lawyer. Referring to Mohammed as terrorist as he did falls under free speach. Free speech is supposed to protect offensive and disagreeable comments. The state has no business mandating someone be agreeable to violent mobs under any circumstances.
Under what law is he being tried under anyway is it secular or sharia?

https://www.atheistalliance.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/08/Mubarak-100-days-2100x1200.jpg
Today marks a grim milestone. Mubarak Bala has been held by police in Kano State, Nigeria for 100 days without access to his lawyers or his family and without appearing in court. His whereabouts remain unknown.
Today, after 100 days without seeing her husband and without knowing if he is alive or dead, Amina Ahmed has sent an appeal to the Nigerian Senate asking for the smallest things—to be given proof Mubarak is still alive and to be allowed to see him. In an open appeal to The Senate President, Sen. Ahmad Lawal and the Speaker of House of Representatives, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, she says:
“…above all, I beg you Senators and Honourable members of House of Representatives, the men and women who swear to God to uphold the rule of law in my country, on my bended knees, I beg you please let me have proof that Mubarak is alive, please let me see my husband and let Mubarak hold his son again. This is all I ask of you.”
Nigerian courts have proven they cannot protect a Nigerian citizen when religious interests are set on denying him his rights. Worse than that, the delays, excuses and prevarication in bringing Mubarak to court, show the Nigerian Judicial system is thoroughly corrupt. It is a feeble puppet of religious interests, not a courageous defender of the Constitution and human rights.
If Mubarak has done wrong, why do the authorities not bring him to court and prove their case? Perhaps the answer is simple. They have no case. They have fanatical Muslims baying for blood and they have no stomach, or no desire, to stand up for the rule law.
Let’s hope the good men and women of the Senate will restore the justice perverted by the police and the courts.

The same government building for the Lord cannot provide chairs and tables for children. Most kids sit on the floor and this ain't happening in remote areas o, this is happening right in Uyo....
Of all the things to do with money, it's a worship centre? A worship centre? For what?
Sad part is the people of the state don't even see any thing wrong in spending so much money on something so useless. They will so defend their governor on this one because he is building for their Lord.. They are soo religious and ignorant...
