Politics › Re: Lawmakers Move To Restrict Cattle Herders, Northern Senators Fume by Blue3k(m): 2:58pm On Jun 06, 2024 |
malali: You make some good points. Ranching in a country where even humans cant feed themselves due to inflationary government policies is a moot point....as you said we all have problems. Importing, importing is our arch nemesis today.......we have to buy Nigerian to grow Nigerian. Brazil is the top world beef producer.Because of longer rainy season in the amazon forest. Northern Nigeria is fast becoming an arid desert. You're assuming the same people who can't feed themselves are going to be the ones starting the business. New players will enter the sector with money. The starving herder can sell off his cattle and move on with their life as a cow hand or something else. Nigerians already do buy Nigerian cows but you're complaining about expensive food while blocking out cheaper options. If Nigerians can't compete that's tough luck. These ranchers better start learning to feed ther cows hay in the dry season. There's plenty of farms that can and will supply it. Open herding is coming to an end just like the age of the cowboy came to end in the 1800s. I doubt these people will be looked at as romantically as the latter.

malali:
Ranching is not affordable by the average fulani herder. Herding in Nigeria is getting deeper into the south as climate change is "desertifying" north more. If humans cannot even feed due to inflationary government policies Realistically, how do you expect the person that has eaten to afford to feed a cow in a ranch ? They can find a new profession. The new ranchers will comply with the law. They had decades to prepare for this inevitable outcome. Nobody is interested in their sob story. Sir we all have problems let them carry their load without making it societies issue. The upfront cost of ranching is more expensive, but the profits are higher and cows will be cheaper. Look up the top exporting countries and ask yourself why these herders aren't the top. Lastly we always had the option of importing cheaper beef but Buhari deemed it wise to ban imports. |

Reflect7: Watch out for a dramatc reduction in insecurity in the country, over the next 3 months. Lol what a silly and nebulous prediction. Hpw do you define drastic. Is it 10%-30% reduction in kidnapping and murders. Who numbers are we using to gauge this or it just vibes. The Nigerian government hasn't published crime statistics since 2017. I doubt any of that will happen but hey keep the faith.

Politics › Re: Kano Emirate: Why Sanusi Lamido Should NOT Return As Emir by Blue3k(m): 6:13pm On May 28, 2024 |
Biodun556: According to Nigerian Constitution it is at least one traditional council per local government.
It is illegal for an Emire or Oba to rule over more that one local government. In Kano before Ganduje came in, Emir of Kano was ruling over six local governments. You should cite the constitution. |
Politics › Re: FG Sues 36 States At Supreme Court Over Local Government Autonomy by Blue3k(m): 7:58am On May 27, 2024 |
Kukutente23: 1. This is meaningless. There's already a supreme court judgement against dissolving validly elected LG before their tenure ends so i don't see any merit in the first application. I think the Supreme Court or a court already ruled against LG autonomy during the time of Fayemi as chair of NGF so it will be interesting to see the part of the Constitution Fagbemi is looking to enforce. Fayemi also made a profound statement that the constitution essentially recognised two levels of govt and the LGs are simply administrative units.
2. If caretaker committee are illegal (which I think they are) and the tenure of LG chairs is 3 years while their elections is to be conducted by SIECs, what happens in a case when the elections have not been conducted while their tenure has expired? Who runs the LGs then?
3. Finally, has the section 162(5) and(6) of the constitution being amended to abolish JAAC? If not this sounds like a joke which the SC will only laugh and move on My thoughts exactly. There's nothing stopping state assemblies from SIECs independent. If LGs aren't elected the FG should hold the allocation in suspense until elections are conducted. If the court does like that then the only solution is jail. |

Let Sanusi face his corruption charges for now and forget this emirate saga, thereafter he will not wether he is on the left side or the right now. Are you saying the state didn't drop the charges? That case is dead at this point even if he's guilty as sin. |

If state police were passed to the states tomorrow, they would be uninterested, just like they are with state prisons. The federal government isn't going to bankroll their police force, so they will have to raise taxes or make cuts. |

I thought you wanted to say that, the tower was not built at all. Mumu man.
That tower is an asset to the State and Bank of Industry (BOI) Uyo bracnch has occupied part of that building, so stop spewing trash. Lol people like you are pathetic. The standards are either looting or wasting money. No wonder development won't happen. The project was always a stupid idea based on the stated goal of attracting IOC HQs. There's no debating that fact. Since this is commercial real estate you have to judge the success based on its profits. The bank of Industry wasn't under a palm tree before Akwa ibom built the tower mumu. |

You work in my state extract resources from my state but operate from another state
Lmaooo ... Na akwa ibom allow them na
Site your company where ever but you see that tax you must pay am else leave my state I still disagree with the fire and brimstone approach. If you think you're going to force them into doing business they can opt to just leave you the state nothing. Your point about tax cuts is noted. Multinational leave everyday and you're just pushing them with 10x tax. If they leave you would blame them and not your policy. |
