That is why Tinubu is a better politician than all of them. But terrible at governance.

Ambode fell out with Tinubu years before the electiom, but he waited till the primary to remove him, even though he had the power to impeach him. Tinubu is a smooth operator and the madness happening in Rivers don't have his signature.
Agreed I actually mentioned the same example.

Ur dûmbñèss stinks so bad.
You're mumu ramblings are getting boring at this point. You can't explain what makes these creatures intelligent or the wisdom in their strategy. This is because you conflate intelligence with power. Yes a fool can have power over you but it doesn't make then intelligent. It seems you're just on your fools errand defending the indefensible. If being a mumu pleases you continue unabashed with the idiotic creatures you revere.

Let me school you a little as you have little knowledge of the matrix of politics. If those members remain PDP the issue at stake would be interpreted as in-house issue. As they have defected it is a case of the party having the highest members in the house has the speakership.
That's still an idiotic reason to defect and risk losing your seat. The veto proof majority was already capable of selecting any speakers they wanted. They could force though any agenda they pleased. The interpretation of it being an in-house issue doesn't matter? They would remain in their seats regardless till their term is up and would be able to switch parties later. Their impatient served nobody.

U have interest in being a politician, u know u cañ't make the cut.
The definition u posted already made u understand that they are elites but since that definition is too compIex for ur extremely intelligent mind I guess this one below is down to ur level.
I already told you I don't have Interest in being a politician clown. I told you I have interest in the subject and actions since it has effect on society. It's the same reason one should have an interest in the weather or crime. Politicians don't meet the definition you posted, but like a mumu, you argue blindly. They aren't the richest members of society or best educated or group in the society. The average politician doesn't hold a doctorate degree and doesn't on the forbes Forbes list. These guys aren't very impressive unless you believe voting yourself or stealing other people money is impressive. Even telling me they're powerful is questionable. Just look at how these clowns in the majority can't effect their collective will. They were too stupid to simply understand math. They're also easily bought with a cash via lobbying hence so maybe the business owners should be considered elite by this definition not the politician.

You're right about the dumbness of the move and the fact that it's an unforced error.
The guiding principle that led them to the error is simply sycophancy. They saw their boss singing the mandate song and they felt oblige to join.
Also I suspect they thought defecting will guarantee them federal protection which is a dumb way to think as you said
I agree I do believe there's a beta male culture pervasive in Nigerian politics. These State Assembly men worship the executive branch like they're serving a king. This is one reason I believe there's never been a overrided veto any state. It's happened at the national level where it's more difficult in a bicameral house.

Other than that I can bet this move didn't involve Tinubu. As much as I loathe these cretins I admit he's a smooth operator. Getting rid of Ambode via an open primary was a smart move. If he was consulted I know they would have excerised patience and tact.

You have a point. But what is the assurance that they will be able to use the numerical strength to impeach the governor if they remained in Pdp?
No assurance.
In fact a court just recognized the leader of the Fubara faction as the authentic speaker which gave them the power to convene at government house and approve governor Sim budget proposals .
So you see that the faction with the lower number but with the backing of the executive governor is the one making decisions and not the majority faction.

The guy you quoted was also right in his assertion that calling Nigerian Politicians dumb and these same dumb people rule over you means you are even Dumber than them.
How can our wiseness not make us see that we keep electing the same people we claim to be wiser than
There's no assurance in life besides death. If you're only going to do things when you have absolute certainty then remain in the party with the current majority. These fact don't change by changing parties so your argument is moot. I don't understand how you guys reason.

It was not the backing of the governor it was these dumb animals running off a cliff like Wiley Coyote that sealed their fates. The laws were in place whether theu had the governors blessing or not. They had the new veto proof majority to do as they pleased since their colleagues engaged in an unforced error.

It's foolish of both you to measure intelligence by holding a political post instead of their actions and mental ability. Intelligence by normal people is defined on having the ability to think and reason. By your weird logic you're ready to call any fool brilliant because they're elected just like you call any religious figure holy because they have a title.

An Appeals to authority is a logical fallacy. Come with a counter argument of I will simply consider you part of their ilk incapable of strategic planning. If the idea is to turn the state into an APC state, you'd wait till the next election instead of risking your seat being vacated for nothing. They're counting on their constituency changing their minds either way.

PoliticsRIVERS state assembly: Why defect if you have a veto proof majority? by Blue3k(op):
Nigerian politicians are probably the dumbest creatures. The actions of the Rivers state assembly men had no strategic value. 27 is greater than 4. More importantly, it's a veto proof majority. This means they could impose their collective agenda regardless of the governor's opinion.

Defecting is simply a symbolic gesture that accomplishes nothing that they couldn't do in their current party. If they did want to defect, it could wait until the next election. The only reason for the theatrical mass defection is to say APC controls one more houses of assembly.

Update:
The governor foolishly allowed the state assembly members to keep their seats diluting his political power in the name of peace. The PDP in name only faction proceeds to override the governors vetos. This proves there was no point in rushing to switch parties. They maintain power and can pursue any APC policy they wish.

Nothing stops the state assembly from making laws correcting the issue. Nobody hold them responsible just opting to blame the governors. The state assembly is the rubber stamp assembly in Nigeria. Constitutionally it's the state government that responsible for these elections.

The system of local government by democratically elected local government councils is under this Constitution guaranteed; and accordingly, the Government of every State shall, subject to section 8 of this Constitution, ensure their existence under a Law which provides for the establishment, structure, composition, finance and functions of such councils.

Despite the Senate resolution, however, the federal government is expected to continue to release statutory allocations to the 774 local governments across Nigeria based on constitutional provisions.
• Why not pass a law barring the FG from Allocating cash if you sure its legal? There seems to be bipartisan support. Resolutions can be ignored and forgotten but laws won't be.

• Why not make a Senate resolution asking the Various state assemblies to pass laws on local election? There's nothing stopping them constitutionally from doing so. Most Nigerians just use the governor as the scapegoat because they don't care to hold their state assemblies' responsible.

• If care taken committee are illegal make it an act of treason to subvert constitutionally authority. After you arrest a few of the governors puppets they will get the message. The reason they don't quit is because there's consequences.

PoliticsSenate Asks FG To Stop Allocation Of Funds To Lgs Run By Caretaker Committees by Blue3k(op): 6:55pm On Dec 02, 2023
The Senate has asked the federal government to stop the statutory allocation of funds to local government councils whose chairpersons were not democratically elected.

The resolution followed a motion by the Senate Minority Leader, Abba Moro, during the plenary on Friday.

Mr Moro, the senator representing Benue South under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), complained that some state governors dissolved elected local government officials and replaced them with caretaker committees.

The senator specifically identified Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, as one of the Nigerian governors running affairs of local governments with caretaker committees.

He said the development was against the constitutional provision of the local government system.

Mr Moro therefore urged members of the upper chamber to condemn the use of caretaker chairpersons as administrators of local governments.

The majority of the senators supported the motion when it was put to debate.

Adams Oshiomhole (APC, Edo North) argued that the state governors do not have political power to dissolve elected local government officials and replace them with caretaker committees.

Mr Oshiomole, a former governor of Edo State, recounted his experience when he refused to dissolve elected local government officials when he was a governor.

He stated that about 16 state governors are currently running their LGAs with caretaker committees.

The Chief Whip of the Senate, Ali Ndume, also supported the motion.

Mr Ndume, the senator representing Borno South and member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), condemned the use of caretaker chairpersons as administrators of local government councils.

He urged the Senate to encourage the Federal Ministry of Finance to stop the release of funds to local government areas run by caretaker committees.

Abdulfatai Buhari (APC, Oyo North) called for the amendment of the Electoral Act to empower the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to conduct local government elections.

The Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, advocated for the establishment of the National Electoral Commission for Local Government to stop state governors from influencing LG elections.

Mr Akpabio, a former governor of Akwa Ibom State, put the motion to vote and the senators voted overwhelmingly in its support.

He, thereafter, directed the Clerk of the Senate to communicate the resolution to the appropriate authorities.

Despite the Senate resolution, however, the federal government is expected to continue to release statutory allocations to the 774 local governments across Nigeria based on constitutional provisions.

I keep asking the same question but nobody seems to have an answer. If nobody plans on changing various laws you're essentially asking judges to rule differently based on nothing. If you can't impeach these judges you don't like they have nothing to fear in their lifelong post.

Blue3k:
What solutions do you have in mind? What was wrong with various judgements on legal or logical grounds? I notice everyone complaining about Judges but they're not talking changing laws or restraining judicial powers.
