I asked you to proffer practical solutions to Nigeria problem & you are telling me to "hold my state level representative responsible". huh
A practical solution would be passing a law that regarding how security votes are spent. That ensures that it's not wasted. Again that's done through the legislature just like the solutions you proffered.

GanagiBitrus:
An average Nigerian considers the fate of this country to be in the hands of the President. Hence whatever is happening in this country is blamed on Tinubu, Buhari & all the other Presidents. Nobody mentions the Governors.
#1. Why do you think it is so?

My comment only proffered a solution & way forward.
#2. Now what is your own solution & way forward?
The average Nigerian doesn't understand civics because they never took a course in school.

Hold you state level representative responsible? Nothing stops them passing laws on these subjects. I admit that's going to be difficult because Nigeria also has a beta male culture of being subservient to the executive.

The way this country is structured, all eyes are on the President & the Centre. Nobody holds the Governors accountable.

If we restructure to a True Federalism with greater devolution of powers to the States &where States are made to control their Resources, people will start holding their various States accountable.
You guys fail to consider basic facts. The state assemblies job is to hold the governor accountable. There's nothing stopping them from doing so under this Constitution. I have nothing against devolved powers but saying true federalism and resource control don't address that issue regarding state level politics.

Sunday2021:
Rubbish!! You give immunity to governors how will you be able to jail them
Jail the heads of the departments then. If they want a lenient sentence they can become informants then snitch on the governor. If they're too loyal to snitch, they can take the heat and sit in federal prison. Remember, the governor doesn't get to pardon federal law offenders.
PoliticsRe: Reps Propose Jail Term For Employers Owing Salary by Blue3k(m): 6:14pm On Dec 30, 2023
According to the bill, employers found guilty of failing to pay the salaries of their workers risk three to six months of imprisonment, without the possibility of a fine.
Easy solution fire the weak links. Then make one guy do the work of two. Finally pay what you owe.

Meanwhile, Section 28 of the bill states that in the event of an employer’s bankruptcy, prioritisation shall be given to the payment of all outstanding remuneration to employees.
The totem pole for bankruptcy moves from lenders on top to employees. Lol corporate debt just got riskier. Corporate bond holder will be having a word with their representatives.

“Negotiate with these people. Build for them schools and hospitals. Let them have future. Build for them markets. Even the people we call bandits, what they sometimes complain is that they no longer have cattle markets because whenever they establish market, it gets destroyed.
What's stopping them from using the current schools and hospitals? Why can't they establish their own cattle market with all the funds the robbed so far? You even have all the guns you need to protect this time. Lol, this guy is like a lot of Nigerians who want you to have endless sympathy for criminals instead of their victims.
PoliticsRe: RIVERS state assembly: Why defect if you have a veto proof majority? by Blue3k(op): 7:44pm On Dec 29, 2023
Stupidanimal:
You are quite intelligent and I have to honestly admit too that it was an unforced error. These politicians probably do not understand the significance of numbers especially in a democratic settings. I am going to ask you two quick questions.

Is defection punishable by the constitution or the new electoral act because I don't understand why their seats can be declared vacant because they defected? Please educate me because I am not privvy to this.

Also, if the speaker loyal to the governor was removed or whatever they call it before they defected, could the courts validly reinstate him? Can it be said that the Assembly satisfied quorum with just four members?
Thank you for the compliment it is appreciated. I'm no legal expert so take my opinion on the law with a grain of salt. From what I understand the Supreme Court already ruled on defection being illegal unless there's some sort of fracture in the party. A politician can't just cross carpet like a hit man or hooker. section 109 of the Constitution forbids the politicians from such behavior.

I don't know if the courts could reinstate the speaker under your scenario. I believe the satisfied quorum with four members. They declared their seats vacant then passed a bill. If they aren't law makers then quorum only requires 2-3 I would guess.

1999 constitution section 109

House of Assembly shall vacate his seat in the House if

(g) being a person whose election to the House of Assembly was sponsored by a political party, he becomes a member of another political party before the expiration of the period for which that House was elected:

Provided that his membership of the latter political party is not as a result of a division in the political party of which he was previously a member or of a merger of two or more political parties or factions by one of which he was previously sponsored; or

I think the big difficulty there is that Nigeria hasn't had a single trustworthy census since 1963, so there's no good basis on which to make per-capita calculations - just look at all the preceding argumentation on this one topic about population figures. One can't blame the NBS for wishing to stick to verifiable facts, given how quick so many are to scream "bias" or "incompetence" whenever the numbers the NBS puts out don't match their personal desires.

At any rate, it's easy enough to plug the raw NBS numbers into a spreadsheet and calculate per-capita values based on whatever population estimates one would prefer to use.
I'd be alright with that excuse if they didn't measure poverty stats on percentage basis. This shows its about effort not them trusting their own numbers. They just pick and choose when they'd like to put in effort. I notice it's when they have the world bank or UN looking over their shoulder. Lol they want to the numbers before cutting checks.

Highlights of the 2022 Multidimensional Poverty Index survey reveal that:

63% of persons living within Nigeria (133 million people) are multidimensionally poor. The National MPI is 0.257, indicating that poor people in Nigeria experience just over one-quarter of all possible deprivations.

And what are we supposed to take more seriously than data collected by officials with the training, authority and means to collect it, some nonsense made up by marginal online rags pandering to your tribalistic prejudices? I doubt you could even tell a median from a mean or a mode, let alone possess enough statistical knowledge to evaluate the quality of the work done by the NBS: for you and your ilk, any data which doesn't cater to that huge tribal chip on your shoulder is by definition "untrustworthy" ...
The only thing I personally despise about how the NBS presents date is that it's hardly presented on proportional or per capita basis. The curious have to follow up behind them figure out context missing. What percentage of the state has access to the internet is more useful to know. They know better as statisticians but they're lazy.

It's strange how Yoruba politicians are free to use Oduduwa national anthem for swearing in instead of Nigeria National anthem.... On live TV for that matter!!, if others do theirs, they will be labelled secessionists, jailed and even have their organs harvested by DSS!!

One country, different laws!!

I guess they're a conquered people. If they want to fly those flags and sing those anthem do it and do it proudly. Notice people in the comment section will say anything to justify their position on the matter. At the end of the day might makes right. This decides who gets to do what. I'm deeply disappointed with his style of politics.
Instead of forming a formidable opposition to check mate the ruling govt. He jets out to Dubai only to return every four years to buy PDP Presidential ticket.

The once formidable political party (PDP) have been reduced to nothing under his watch.
It seems the issue is how your party is run and not the individual contesting. Is he the head of PDP? Why do you guys sell your positions to the highest bidder like an auction house? I understand the need for fundraising, but there has be a better method.

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I see u are so paînèd because ur entire life and family is controIIed by their decisions, that's why u are so paînèd.
The avèràge Nîgèrîan thinks he is so intelligent.
That makes 200 million intelligent people being held hostage by a few thousands who consider these 200 million as dûmb, this begs the question, who is more dûmb?
The 200 million heId hostage by a few thousands or the few thousands holding the millions hostage.
Every society in the world knows that the ruling class are elites, ur moàñing wón't change that.
I am not angry at ur steewpidity, I am trying to tell u that u are more steewpid than the people u think are the dûmbest creatures u have ever seen.
U have reverted from ur story of me bowing before polîticians now?
They are normal people to me.
I have met ur type alot.
I met a man who was all mouths like u not knowing that the owner of the Bajaj bike he's repairing is actually a younger brother to the sitting governor of the state.
When he learnt that, he was almost kissing his feet.
That's not the deputy govèrñór yet but his brother.
I never reversed my statement regarding you bowing to politicians. Where did you read that? Lol you're hurt. You can't debunk any fact I stated. Even the people here noticed it. You don't even attempt it. Anyway, an idiot can be powerful. Nigerians are held hostage by their voting patterns. Hey, that's democracy whether you vote these losers in or not your effected.

You met a fellow loser like yourself, groveling to politicians. You also met an elite criminal minister ripping off companies. Can you tell me any stories about intelligent politicians you keep telling me about. Again, what are these guys elite at besides stealing and making foolish policies?
PoliticsRe: RIVERS state assembly: Why defect if you have a veto proof majority? by Blue3k(op): 8:53pm On Dec 16, 2023
JagabanB:
Polîticians bow to market pressure yet they decide the price u are buying fuel today?
LOL.
I come from a family who has produced state commissioners, the current senator representing my zone passed nights in our house.
A former minister made an offer to me through his boys which I rejected because of the greed involved in it and the attempt to rip the foreign company involved.
I am not a IówIife like u, I simply choose a simple life because that's what gives me peace.
My friend's older brother is in the green chamber, my close friend will be running for HOR in 2027.
So trust me when I say u are f00I when u think poIiticians are the "dûmbest creatures" u have ever seen and u are sitting there allowing them to call the shots that affects ur life every blessed day.
If they are so dûmb and u are so intelligent, they wón't be calling the shots for u.
Trust me on that.
Yes they do bow to market pressure. They eventually dried the state coffers trying to foolishly control fuel prices. Even when they were shilling out cash shortages were common because of market forces.

Now we see why you're so angry I state facts about the animals in your family. This is why you consider a public servant a superior/ elite. I did find it weird a grown man who taxes pay these idiots would then turn around call them elites. Now public servant turned elite because they won an election and steal from the public.

Lol even in your stories about these animals all the want to do is rip people off. Where's the intelligence you keep telling they possess? What exactly are they elite at? Again telling they have power doesn't make them intelligence. We already established power and intelligence aren't the same thing. A fool can be powerful.

I guess u buy a litre of fuel at a price of ur choosing?
Don't u?

Always sounding like a kid who's hûñgry.
The world knows there is a country called Nigèria, the world doesn't know about ur exîstènce, but they know about the leaders, u can only rant on Nairaland, when u meet a senator or a HOR member, u fall flat with all humility mouthing all respect.
I would really like u to call them these names to their face, always bIabbiñg.
Intelligence has always beàtèñ brute force, intelligence always win, even when intelligence face a set back, it always comes back to win that's the reason I put it on a percentage scale, Albert Einstein who thinks a polar bear always kill a man because of brute force is confused about simple analogy.
If we check ur life now, we will see how èmpty it is and how this intelligence has helped u.
U are talking from the pàins the political class has caused u, ur life depends on their decisions so much that u h8 them with passion.
If u are so superior, call the shots and stop f00Iing urseIf that u don't have interest in calling the shots.
That's first grade f00Iing.
The market decide what everyone pays. Even the politicians bowed to market pressure. Lol you're a mumu with no self respect that's why you're always groveling. You're just projecting at this point because you'd actually fall flat on your face because a senator or house rep talked to a bum like you.

Intelligence doesn't always win. You already debunked that point telling me it's 90%. You're Unintelligent politicians can't stop the brute force bandits. I guess the bandits also intelligent by your logic because their the defacto rulers of certain village.

Lol I noticed you given up on proving they're intelligent. You just want to argue they're collectively powerful. That's fine I didn't argue otherwise. They're idiots with power just like the lowly animals I talked about. Power and intelligence aren't the same.

"The mumus" decides the price of fuel, u pay.
They decide minimum wage, it binds on u.
They decide how electricity supply works, it binds on u.
They decide which road they make, it binds on u.
They decide whether to build railways or not, it binds on you.
Tell me again they are not ur superiors.
Any human being with avèràge sènsè of reasoning knows that u can outmaneuver a polar bear because of ur intelligence, some how, Albert Einstein on Nairaland thinks every human falls when a polar bear attàck them.
U really need to upgrade or stop replying, each reply keeps demystifying ur assumed intelligence.
90% of the time intelligence has always beàtèñ brute power.
Humans survived and evolved throughout time because of intelligence not raw power.
Humans are evolving and finding their way around nature because of intelligence.
An idiot with power is still an idiot at the end of the day. Nope they're not my superiors. They just foolish public servants ready to bought like any prostitute that walks the street. I don't work for them, they avg politian doesn't rank high on social status, and they aren't superior in quality. They're superior tp a lame like yourself with nothing going on in your life.

Lol I'm glad you moved the goal post from always to 90%. Intelligence doesn't always raw power. Since you've admitted such that debate is over. Glad a dimwitted like you understand the importance of intelligence considering how little you have.

False again mumu. Your higher intelligence is won't save you if a polar bear attacks. Raw power beats intelligence in certain scenarios. Humans have always been the most intelligent creatures on this planet but theres plenty of times they've been at the mercy of nature. Again these mumu are your superiors not mine.
