nigerialog: The rate of failed marriages is ticking up steadily in Nigeria and it doesn't seem like anyone is studying it.
“Unless love equals passion, marriage rites are never right; that's all!” -Dr. Randolph
I have been taking notes -not necessarily studying it -just taking notes. In my notes taken from different stories of failed marriages particularly in the eastern part of Nigeria, I noticed a pattern.
The pattern is this: a man feels ready to marry and sets out to seek a wife. The man focuses on the quality of the wife he wants: she must be beautiful, educated, intelligent, reserved (a virgin if possible), obedient, respectful, good home maker, and good mother material. Most often the man is not really interested in whether she has a job, or the type of job she has, after-all he would be the bread winner and provider. But, in all this he forgets the most important thing to test or look out for, which is the MUTUAL-ATTRACTION index between BOTH of he and the woman. By “attraction” I mean PHYSICAL (not monetary, professional, status related, religion based, familiar connections, anything else) attraction.
Double emphasis: This index measures the physical attraction from the man to the woman and from the woman to the man.
This type of attraction is what builds and sustains the level of PASSION between the couple. Ideally, a marriage should be built on divine love -Agape. However, humans generally struggle with this -by nature, and must be assisted by pure attraction. What most humans do naturally is to love based on what each gets from the other. Among many things that a person can get from another, nothing is stronger than passionate love. When everything else fails to keep the fires of marriage burning, passion never fails.
A lady friend once confided in me the reason her parents married and stuck together for 53 years till her father's death. She said that her mother told her that the marriage was simply sustained by quality and quantity of sex. The mother basically stuck to her husband because of the passion that existed between she and the late man.
One man that I know has being having serious squabbles with his wife for about 7 years now, and the signs aren't looking good at all. The marriage is now at the stage where the man constantly threatens the woman with physical assault. Going forward, the marriage -if it continues at all – would likely be joyless.
Another man I know has been having exactly the same problem, only that his own wife is determined not to be a good wife and mother. To further aggravate matters, his wife goes and comes as she wishes. This marriage may continue, but the man's mental and physical health may suffer as a result.
The common denominator between these two men is that they married according to the common criteria I mentioned in the third paragraph, but without any consideration for MUTUAL-ATTRACTION. Both men were physically attracted to the women they married, BUT the attraction was one way. The women had other things that attracted them to the men EXCEPT physical attraction.
The men were ready for marriage, and the women were also ready, but the men did not test for mutual physical attraction. They merely were attracted to the women, and proceeded to propose marriage. The woman simply accepted because all woman in Eastern Nigeria wants to marry men of status and reliable income.
I noted that some men either mischievously or irresponsibly pretend that this is not an issue. In fact I have seen a lot of men who simply pursue women for marriage while totally ignoring the women’s feelings towards them. Some men beg, cajole, pursue, kneel down to beg, fall flat on the bellies, and grovel to heavens and back just to marry women with zero attraction to them. The women, after these emotional blackmails, marry them, and then set out to seek and keep men that they are truly attracted to. The same men (husbands) would then go about blackmailing the cheating wives with moral based arguments, emotions, and complaints of adultery. That is how one woman ended up having an affair with the pastor (a Catholic priest at that) of the couple's home church. Like the video in another thread on this forum, the man was thinking that simply lamenting and shouting about the sins of adultery being committed by the wife would sway her away from her chosen mate. That is a futile exercise because passion is stronger than reason.
A man getting a woman to marry him by all means is deceptive and inherently unjust, and should be ready to accept in good faith whatever comes later in the marriage, rather than freaking out and playing victim.
Anyone going to equity must go with clean hands!
Married women who date other men, and have been deceived into marriage by their husbands, stand on stronger moral grounds than their accusing husbands. That is why I ALWAYS blame the men for most of the problems that arise in Nigerian marriages, because our culture is male dominated. Western marriages are a bit different because mutual attraction is mostly the basis for most western marriages.
So, my advice is that Nigerian men should cease and desist from pressuring women into marriage because marriage is a life-long commitment. If she even gives you the slightest of cold shoulders while you are proposing, please head to the hills -FAST! Or pay dearly later.
-Nigerialog.com Nice article i agree with the OP, A Man should not force himself on any lady. there has to be mutual attraction between a Man and any lady he has intrest in. but why blame only men?why will a women accept a man's proposal when she knows she is not attracted to him? I think women should be carefull when taking such decisions no reason is sufficient enough for a woman to cheat on her Husband. |

Christianity Etc › Re: Does Anyone Care About The Ramifications Of The Truth That "Rape Is Not A Sin?" by blueAgent(m): 8:54pm On Apr 29, 2017 |
Read and learn the truth . not that your distored article.
Deuteronomy 22:25–27 specifies the
punishment the Mosaic Law required for a
man who raped a betrothed woman. The man
was to be killed by stoning while the woman
was considered innocent. Though the Mosaic
Law was for the nation of Israel during the
time of Moses, the principle is clear that
rape is sinful in the eyes of God and, under
the Law, led to the most extreme punishment
possible—death for the rapist.
There are some difficult passages in the Old
Testament in relation to this issue. One is
Deuteronomy 22:28–29 , “If a man happens to
meet a virgin who is not pledged to be
married and rapes her and they are
discovered, he shall pay her father fifty
shekels of silver. He must marry the young
woman, for he has violated her. He can never
divorce her as long as he lives.” If the rape
victim was not betrothed, then the rapist
faced different consequences.
We must see Deuteronomy 22:28–29 through
the lens of ancient culture. In those days,
social convention treated women poorly. They
couldn’t own property. They couldn't get a
job to support themselves. If a woman had
no father, husband, or son, she had no legal
protection. Her options were slavery or
prostitution. If an unmarried woman wasn’t a
virgin, it was extremely difficult for her to
get married. If she wasn’t marriageable, her
father didn’t have much use for her.
God’s punishment on the rapist of a virgin—a
monetary fine and lifelong responsibility—
was designed to deter rape by holding the
rapist responsible for his actions. He ruined
her life; it was his responsibility to support
her for the rest of her life. This may not
sound fair to modern ears, but we don’t live
in the same culture they did. In 1 Samuel 13,
Prince Amnon raped his half-sister, Tamar.
The horror and shame of being violated yet
unmarried made Tamar beg him to marry her
(her half-brother!), even after he had
rejected her. And her full-brother, Absalom,
was so disgusted with the situation that he
murdered Amnon. That’s how highly virginity
in women was prized back then.
Critics of the Bible also point to Numbers 31
(and similar passages) in which the Israelites
were allowed to take female captives from
nations they conquered. Critics say this is an
example of the Bible’s condoning or even
promoting rape. However, the passage says
nothing about raping the captive women. It is
wrong to assume that the captive women
were to be raped. The soldiers were
commanded to purify themselves and their
captives (verse 19). Rape would have violated
this command (see Leviticus 15:16–18 ). The
women who were taken captive are never
referred to as sexual objects. Did the captive
women likely eventually marry amongst the
Israelites? Yes. Is there any indication that
rape or sex slavery was forced upon the
women? Absolutely not.
In the New Testament, rape is not mentioned
directly, but within the Jewish culture of the
day, rape would have been considered sexual
immorality . Jesus and the apostles spoke
against sexual immorality, even offering it as
justifiable grounds for divorce (Matthew
5:32 ).
Further, the New Testament is clear that
Christians are to obey the laws of their
governing authorities (Romans 13). Not only
is rape morally wrong; it is also wrong
according to the laws of the land. As such,
anyone who would commit this crime should
expect to pay the consequences, including
arrest and imprisonment.
To the victims of rape, we must offer much
care and compassion. God’s Word often
speaks about helping those in need and in
vulnerable situations. Christians should
model the love and compassion of Christ by
assisting victims of rape in any way possible.
People are responsible for the sins they
commit, including rape. However, no one is
beyond the grace of God. Even to those who
have committed the vilest of sins, God can
extend forgiveness if they repent and turn
from their evil ways (1 John 1:9 ). This does
not remove the need for punishment
according to the law, but it can offer hope
and the way to a new life.

Japan is more developed than Nigeria because they value the development of human resources from day 1 more than any other thing. That's why their GDP per capita is 32,477.22 USD against 2,640.29 USD for Nigeria. It implies that an average Japanese earns 11 times what an average Nigerian earns.

Christianity Etc › Re: Dirty Car Art And The Foolishness Of Atheism by blueAgent(m): 5:27pm On Apr 28, 2017 |
winner01: Tony Miano gives a short illustration on the foolishness of atheism:
"Last year I attended the Santa Clarita Street Art Festival, with my brother-in-law, nieces, and nephews. During that time, I was blessed to distribute about four hundred gospel tracts to members of my community.
Some very talented artists were on-hand for this year's festival--chalk artists, musicians, a professional drum corps, and more. There were even some artists who used Post-its to create a picture of Bugs Bunny and Road Runner.
One of the most interesting displays of artistic talent was the Dirty Car Art, by Scott Wade.
Amazing what an intelligent and creative mind can do with a car, some dust, and a brush.
How ignorant it would have been for me to walk up to Scott Wade and say, "How long did it take those detailed images to spontaneously appear in the dust, on your car? It must have taken billions of years!"
How ridiculous it would have been for me to ask Mr. Wade why he was taking credit for creating the images on his dirty car, when it was obvious that they simply appeared by chance. A little dust, a little wind, a little time and, voila!
Wade had a notebook on a table of many of the dirty car images he has created over the years. They were extraordinary.
How foolish and insulting it would have been for me to tell the artist that I didn't believe he created the images; even though I had a piece of dirty car art right in front of me, which provided ample evidence for the authenticity of the other images in the notebook.
In fact, I don't think any atheist would have approached Mr. Wade and made such ridiculous assertions.
Yet, sadly, in a futile attempt to sear and blind their own conscience, and in order to deny what they already know in their heart and mind; the atheist makes similar ridiculous arguments against the existence of God and His creative power. Claiming to be wise, they have become fools (Romans 1:22).
The atheist wouldn't think of committing intellectual suicide and setting themselves up for embarrassment by suggesting to a human artist that their artwork occurred as a result of coincidental and random actions performed by mindless, independent elements. Yet, the atheist commits intellectual suicide every day. No, instead, the atheist, like any reasonable person, would compliment Mr. Wade for his amazing artwork.
So, why does the atheist violate his or her own conscience and deny what they know in their heart is true? The sad and simple truth is that they love their sin and, therefore, try as hard as they can to suppress the truth about God and His creation, by their unrighteousness.
"For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. For His invisible attributes, namely, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. For although they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks to Him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. Claiming to be wise, they became fools" (Romans 1:18-22).
Yes, Scott Wade is an amazing artist. But God's amazing and detailed design of the Universe makes Mr. Wade's artwork seem like a toddler's fingerpainting.
And it is this amazing, powerful, supremely intelligent Creator that each and every one of us will one-day stand before and give an account for our lives. When that great and terrible day comes, because God is good, He is going to judge each of us according to the perfect, moral standard of His Law. If we've ever lied, stolen, taken His name in vain, He will find us guilty of breaking His Law. And because God is good, He must punish our sin; and the punishment God has ascribed for sin is eternity in Hell.
But God is also merciful, loving, and kind in that He provided one way to escape that punishment; and that was through the gift of His Son Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ: fully-God and fully-Man, without sin. He died a horrible, bloody death on the cross that He did not deserve in order to take upon Himself the punishment we rightly deserve for our sins against God. And then three days later He forever defeated sin and death when He rose from the grave.
What God requires of you and me is that we repent--that we turn from our sin, and by faith and by faith alone, receive Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. Jesus said, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me."
So, please, repent and believe the gospel while God has given you time.
I know a number of atheists will read this blog post. Of course, some of them will be incensed that I dare to question their intelligence or, at the very least, their common sense. I don't think atheists are stupid. Not at all. They are merely and tragically self-deceived. And I no more want an atheist to perish in their sin than I would want that for any other lost person.
The foolishness of atheism is as foolish as denying that Scott Wade is a talented artist. Repent and believe the gospel while God has given you time.

or just maybe it didn't have an evil purpose... maybe the Essenes just wrote down their revelation from God.. maybe they didn't know that John's book would come later and have a 70% “coincidence" with theirs just maybe... I'm not trying to discredit John or anything.. there is also a possibility that John got a revelation probably related to the one the essenes got.. or probably the same thing... maybe just more detailed.... like i said.. I'm not really interested in end of the world writings... Have you read about the history of the Bible,do you know that millions died inorder to spread the Bible. is their any other book that has faced the same opposition like the Bible? If it is false then why is Satan and his Occultic Agents desperate to destory it. The Bible is the only Book that Speaks with so much authority over all the issues concerning Man's origin, life and destination. Is there any other book of with Such Authority? what about all the accurately fufilled Bible prophesies is there any other book that has such ability? Who said God does not care about his Word(Bible) The pslamist says that God Exalts his Word(Bible) above his Name. All this book were written by men including the Bible. both other books don't have what the Bible has and that is divine insipration. I have read a lot of occultic books so i know what they are up to. don't be decieved. |

akintom: 1 Thessalonians 5:21(BBE)
Let all things be tested; keep to what is good;
1 Thessalonians 5:21(KJV)
prove all things; hold fast that which is good;
Of course, the stimulus of the pathologic rage of Christians, is the cognitive dissonance, which is secondary to the conflicting verses in the Bible.
This condition is further complicated, by their intellectual dishonesty and arrogance. When will you and other Atheists give us Evidence of past or present Evolution,or give us the chemical equation or step by step breakdown of the Abiogenesis process. When will you Atheists tell us how Matter and Energy came into existence from nothing or how a motionless, thoughtless, and lifeless force gave birth to the entire Universe. Pls am waiting. |
