semid4lyfe:Funnily, it is under the ministry of finance; yet it is a paramilitary organization |
izzou:That's what is being discussed on twitter in the past 3 days. Customs are arbitarily assessing and determining the value of package and charging duties based on whatever value they decide to assign to the package. You may buy a vehicle for $2.5k online and when Customs wants to charge duty they will arbitarily value the vehicle at say $6k. I've been seeing importers lamenting about this on twitter. Only God knows if all these is due to Customs focusing too much on revenue generation while paying less attention to other duties like securing our borders, safeguarding national security and facilitating international trade |
semid4lyfe:No problem bro. |
iamoyindamola:Omo! The thing shock me o. In 2022 when I was there we were all complaining about how terrible the road was and the residents said the government promised the road will be completed soon. They were very optimistic believing Sanwoolu will see to its urgent completion. Imagine my shock finding out the construction has not been completed 3 years after . Wetin dey vex me be say these people go dey focus on the wrong things. |
This Isawo road at Agric bus stop, Ikorodu has been under constructuon since Ambode tenure . Sanwoolu visited the site after he was elected and promised to complete the project . It’s been 6 years since Sanwoolu’s administration started and the road is not new completion .
I remember going for a friend’s wedding which took place in a hall along this Isawo road in 2022; the whole place was in a mess back then . I never thought the road project would still not be completed till now 🤦♂️. These are the issues ! These are the stuff that matter and not renaming streets/bus stops . |
Roland17:In fact , I have a theory that if legislators are restricted to carrying out their primary duty of making laws and overseeing the activities of the executive ; we would see a drastic reduction in the number of individuals jostling to be elected as lawmakers . Most governors who leave the government house at the expiration of their second term to contest for senate would no longer find the seat attractive . We would then have people who are genuinely interested in lawmaking vying for the seat . The practice of even bank MDs resigning to contest for senate ticket because of the humongous constituency allowance that will be at their disposal to misappropriate would no longer be a thing . |
Bimmarlykay:If person wey never use car before buy such car as his first car , he will regret ever coming up with the idea of using his savings to buy a car 😂 |
Theflint1:Exactly my thoughts. There’s no way someone who stays most of his time in Abuja will claim he has what it takes to execute projects that touch the lives of his people in let’s say Ilaje/Ese odo in ondo state. Let the LGA chairman handle that and let him face the job of making laws that will impact on the economic , social and political well being of his constituents |
raumdeuter:Constituency project actually makes no sense to me. There are 3 tiers of government , let them function as they should and u won’t need a lawmaking body carrying out projects that should be executive’s primary duty. The legislature acting as meddlesome interloper in projects affecting people at the lowest level of government is a distraction to their actual job of checking the executive . I hope u know it is very very difficult to actually hold legislators accountable when they don’t utilize the so called constituency project as they ought to. There’s no structure of checks and balances in law that monitors and hold them accountable for constituency projects . It just give the vibes of police doing VIO job, road safety doing LASTMA job , etc . |
The idea of lawmakers who reside in Abuja getting billions of naira in constituency allowance only executing a handful of irrelevant projects in their constituency (where they hardly stay ) needs to be done away with . Let the local governments be empowered by our laws to actually function as an independent tier of government that can function without being tied to state government’s apron strings . I mean real laws , not just one or two Supreme Court judgement paying lip service to Local government autonomy . With that in place , I believe the local governments will be challenged to actually execute projects that will touch the lives of residents of the LGA . The fact that the officers of the LGA from the chairman to the least person resides within the LGA should be enough reason why they must see to it that projects which speaks to the peculiar challenge of the LGA are executed . Enough of lawmakers stealing from the nation’s wealth all in the name of constituency projects . They should face their primary duty of making laws and overseeing the activities of the executive |
raumdeuter:Local government should be allowed to function properly . Whatever amount that is being padded yearly into the budget as constituency project funds should be channeled to Local governments. Legislators should focus on their primary duty of making laws and act as proper checks and balance for the executive arm of government . The idea of legislators encroaching on executive’s function of execution of projects is an anomaly that has been allowed for too long . |
Instead of focusing on the living, this one decided to focus on the dead 🤦♂️. I think our constitution needs to be reviewed ; the nonsense provision for constituency projects needs to be expunged! Lawmakers have no business carrying out so called constituency project . That’s the only reason why someone like this guy will decide to waste tax payer’s money on renovating 80 cemeteries . Imagine padding budget only to divert the money towards renovating cemeteries 🤷♂️

A car dealer lamenting how Tinubu's government has increased Customs' duty 3 different times in 2 years of this administration.
|
A concerned citizen makes a video of a portion of the coastal road that has erosion sweeping away the underlying landmass holding the road. He is concerned the road may likely suffer damage in the future due to no drainage
I thought they said Tinubu padi's construction company that got the contract of the road is highly experienced, hence why they got the contract awarded to them without following due process. |
Ellexy:Omo! Can those cars in the flood start again? I just hope the water will not carry reptiles enter people's houses o |
OkpaNsukkaisBae: ![]() Those ones never know wetin really dey happen for the country until dem graduate finish NYSC. Even people with work and years of experience are finding it hard to save after paying basic bills from their salary. I still help person draft Letter requesting for salary increase from his employers last week. He just had to voice out because his take-home was no longer taking him home. |
Ellexy:That guy no know wetin dey do am. The only thing that is of concern to me is that the guy too will grow old and some young people will be listening to him as an "elder" |
iamoyindamola:Fun Fact: Monerozi is actually a Christian Northerner. Sarki on the other hand na Islamic extremist going by his political and religious views. |
iamoyindamola:Na just a little moment of sobriety before he slipped back into his default mode. If u see the kind things he dey type the week Buhari's death was announced, u go think say Buhari dash his family $100k like Emilokan dey dash our athlethes ![]() |
KingTom:Na why I dey tell Iamoyindamola say people like that no fit change, even if e touch them personally. |
iamoyindamola:I doubt that will change anything. That weyrey Sarki Wasspaping on twitter that was pro-Buhari until dem kidnap him brother and he had to grovel like a beggar online appealing for funds to pay ransom. He has since gone back to abuse the people that crowd funded him when those ones called out Buhari's wickedness after his demise. “My sincere apologies to the Igbos for all I’ve tweeted about you guys in the past. I don’t mean any of those things. It usually comes from a place of frustration when your influencers direct derogatory words and insults towards northerners. Let love lead henceforth,” “I know people would mock me, but I simply have no any other option, twitter is my last resort. Please I need you guys to donate with the little you have so we can free my brother from the hands of this animals. ACC NO: 1007737506, ZENITH BANK. Please kindly help me retweet.”The guy tweeted the above when his brother was kidnapped and the Buhari he spent his youth assslicking couldn't do anything for him. The way he has gone back to insulting those that help him secure funds for his brother's release, u will know he didn't learn anything even when it touched him personally. |
izzou:But the annoying thing is we have seen this happen before. We were all here during Buhari's 8 years. We saw how people would make excuse for disaster happening before our eyes and people would explain away his ill-informed decisions. People defended closure of boarder while the price of rice keeps going higher and higher. People made excuse for him that inflation happens everywhere and even claimed the country would've exploded if Buhari hadn't stepped in to take control of the ship. Those same people turned back to distance themselves from Buhari's maladministration and are here today selling the misery of this administration as prosperity which the ordinary eyes cannot see, it can only be seen through the eyes of a BAT. There's even nothing to argue about sef. |
izzou:The bold na wetin dey always burst my head. I give kudos to people like Segedinho who suddenly gained renewed energy to dey follow dem drag what is not. ![]() Even on twitter, the paid influencers can't point to the things the government has done to make the lives of people better in any way. All they do is form rehetorics about other ex-presidential candidates who are not in power. The gazillions of spokespersons for the government would rather insult members of the opposition instead of reeling out the achievements of their principal that has calumniated into better life for the people. Its a shame! a 4cking disgrace! |
izzou: ![]() We need to be jolting them to reality of things while they are busy singing song of audio prosperity. Omo! I no blame men and women above 30 that have refused to marry citing state of the economy o. To raise a family this days cost an arm and leg o. |
Theflint1:*In the voice of okpebholo’s hypeman . * Nigeria is shining ….. una no go thank Mr. president ?
|
By the time Emilokan finishes with middle class Nigerians wey Dey follow abroadians who have no skin in the game to join Agbado gang, their blood is gonna dry ! He has increased customs duty again ; for young graduate with few years of work experience to be able to afford even a Naija used car now, na war . All this one Dey happen , that weyrey boy Dey brag about AC blazing , Wi-fi and Jollof rice he ate at the APC digital summit 😂. We must learn a lesson !
|
Since grok enter naija twitter , e never rest ![]()
|
sebod:This is the truth of the whole matter. This is why I don’t blame the friend for posting the matter on social media at all. The guy never proved to be a good friend at any point in time ; either before he left naija or after he left . |
Ibime:That's why I said except he's in jail or dead, there's no justification for him not to have called even if it's just for a minute. |
Roland17:He can have any of the above listed challenges as a new immigrant and still put in effort to spare a minute to say hi to his OG with whom he stayed before he relocated. I think it takes being intentional to do that. If he had reached out to the guy once and then ghosted him afterwards, I would agree with ur viewpoint up there. If he is still alive and not in prison at the moment, then he messed up not keeping in touch till now. The fact that he left naija the way he did also didn't hel his case at all. |
izzou:Theflint1 dey do like say no be work person work to see the money person wan use buy the land. The fact that the money for the land was not stolen or a gift should actually make anyone observe all necessary due diligence. Why should I drop money for a land when we've not crossed all the t's and dot the i's? Even yahoo boys wey dey see money yanfu-yanfu dey carry either family member or a lawyer to help them do every due diligence before dropping money for land. Any land deal in which one is being pressured to drop money and develop ASAP is definitely a suspicious transaction. |
