If you collate the lump time spent on other social apps such as Tiktok, Instagram and twitter by many people it trumps mine.

I'm an indoor person, I return from work, it's either I'm on Nairaland,small activity on twitter, read a book or watching anime.
I think it helps that I'm unmarried too.

This result does not look bad; however, the whole picture and your cardiovascular risk is better assessed when the result is computed with your age, your BP, your diabetic status, your smoking history, your family history, your kidney function level.

Generally speaking, the most important figures in that result are the Total Cholesterol (4.5) and the HDL (1.3). You want the total cholesterol as low as possible (below 5 or if you have a family history below 4) and you want the HDL to be above 1. Check the results from last year for these 2 values and compare to this year's result and that will tell you how well you have done.

You have already made most of the changes needed. Cutting down on unhealthy fats from fried foods, using healthy oils to cook rather saturated and trans fats, fatty red meat, fast foods like burgers. Cutting down on alcohol, not smoking.
Eating adequate fibre, legumes, nuts, avocadoes, salmon, vegetables. Exercising regularly.

The tests I took this year about 12 different blood/urinalysis/stool tests, one chest x-ray, one Abdominal and one ECG.

I used ChatGpt and Google generally to interprete the results and tbey all looked good. I was only concerned about the Lipids profile cos of the Dyslipidemia last year result diagnosed. Overall the lipids profile result this year has improved significantly Sha.

Regular exercising is the only hurdle that's hard for me to climb in the lifestyle changes. I guess I will just have to do something about it before something do me.

The Trade fair guys are saying they are not in the wrong because their buildings were duly approved by the trade fair management board (an agency of the federal government of Nigeria) So the Lagos state government's demolition exercise amounts to trespassing and totally illegal.

Lagos state government claimed they relied on the state government's town planning laws to carry out the demolitions because they (trade fair guys) didn't get state government approvals.

That is the bone of contention in this case. The state government should be out there showing us convincing argument superior to that of the trade fair guys. It shouldn't be a case of refereing us to a law the trade fair guys already pointed out as not binding on them.

The Umeh guy is a fellow of the superior body responsible for regulating surveys and estate valuing. I want to believe he would take exams bordering on estate/land laws before becoming an associate of the institute, talk more of becoming a fellow..... Such person's opinion definitely carries weight in this matter.

The state government would do well to address the substance of Umeh's posituion instead of making the whole thing look like politics.

We were building in orile and we had serious space issues. My supervisor kept pushing the contractor to expand here and there. And the contractor was resisting because he had been fined by lasbca previously

We still ran into wahala with lasbca over that site one to two years later as we had items within the setback/row.

When you see some of these takes you will be irritated because it is simply people who have gamed the system and now the game is up. But rather than take the L they say persecution

Baba, this is now a matter of national discourse. Everyone is interested in what the laws, not just people in construction.

The reasonable thing to do is to law the points bare so every member of the general public that has no dog in the race can see clearly who is the wrong and who is right.

It's when people in government are not transparent with their actions they give room for speculations suggesting targeting demolitions and victimization.

Sometimes in a state you have the police in your pocket and you are running your racket. Then you overdo and doj enters. FBI, ATF and all those other alphabet agency. Their wahala is on a higher level.

If you are doing construction it is the LGA that has direct oversight. And you can easily settle the LGA workers.

Then state decides to put spotlight on location and all your dodging paperwork comes back to you.

They actually built their houses on an open river bank.

Lagos is now actively trying to curb flooding and anything that can obstruct flow or water or drainage is part of the problem

And all the people doing construction know this.

After reading from officials of Lagos state government justifying the demolition and the people criticizing the demolition, I still can't boldly say the Lagos state government's action is justified.

Personally, I think the government should be taking a position to highlight whether they have jurisdiction to take down properties situated on a land under the control of Federal government. (I've not seen anywhere they've done that yet).

As much as I like Tokunbo Wahab, I think he's losing focus of his job as a technocrat and he's letting the political aspect of his job get the better of him. For example, the response he gave to the Anambra senator in the screenshot below is childish and unnecessary. He didn't state the particular law they relied on to pull down the buildings despite the building having approval from a federal government's agency in charge of the premises. Instead, he focused on the origin of the person he's responding to rather than the substance of the person's criticism.

If u ask me, Umeh's points were very valid and requires answers that are backed with convincing reasonable points and not just rebuttal about whether Soludo or Otti pulling down structures in their own states so LASG actions are justifiable. If Umeh is saying Trade Fair is managed by FG through Trade Fair Management board and not under Lagos state government's control, one expects Wahab to come up with a superior argument. The fact that Umeh is even a fellow of the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers makes his point looks strong. Wahab messed up with his response.

Where I work it is mandatory for all staff to be subjected to annual medical examination. Last year's result came back normal aside from the lipids profile diagnosing "Dyslipidemia". I didn't know what that meant until that moment, so I had to Google it.

In reaction to my Google findings, I decided to cut down on red meat (not like I'm a big fan before, but me regularly indulging in Suya, Asun, beef shawarma, double beef patty in my burger and asun jollof rice/spaghetti didn't make me doubt the result Sha). I had to also cut down on alcohol and would take water instead of carbonated drinks(I only use it to mix whiskey by the way) or alcohol.

So fast forward to this year's medical examination, the result came out not saying anything about Dyslipidemia

NB : I must say that last year's medical examination was carried out by a diagnostic center contracted by my organization while this year's was carried out by a reputable hospital in Lagos.

I have attached this year's test result for your perusal . Do you think my lifestyle changes had an impact on this year's result? Do you think this year's result is fair considering where I'm coming from? What do you advise I do going forward to stay healthier?

It now looking like a deliberate attempt on certain tribe. The whole they are targeting ig** properties is now looking justifiable.

The Trade fair market guys are claiming the trade fair belongs to federal government and they are only obliged to obtain approval from the trade fair management board under FG which they duly did. Lagos state government on the other hand claimed they were supposed to still get approval from the state ministry of planning and urban development since the development is happening within Lagos state . It just seem like both parties are interpreting the law to justify their actions and inactions.

I am not an authority on land matters and who should approve what when it comes to federal government property development in a particular state ; but from.what I've read online I think the management of the trade fair market & owners of the buildings should institute an action against the state government.

If not for anything, let the court judgement clear the Grey area on who has a right to approve what in matters involving real estate development involving federal government lands in Lagos state. The judgement can then serve as a precedent in matters like this going forward.

That being said, the decision of the state government to pull down the building without first sealing off the building and calling the trade fair management for diplomatic solution to the approval imbrogilo seems wicked and unjustifiable Sha.

20m? E small o. I recall VDM accused her of going behind his back to meet with the Dangote reps, and Phyna responded that the company insisted she must not come with him for their meeting. and thats the reason she no inform am. Perhaps her family would have gotten more if she no cut off VDM.

Still, I'm beginning to notice a pattern with VDM. People he's advocating and fighting for seem to cut him off at some point.

Let me explain to you what I think happened and how the 20m payment came to being paid to the family :

1. Companies like Dangote who have trucks and other vehicles on the road are exposed to liabilities that may arise from road accident involving their vehicles. Such companies insure their vehicle either comprehensively or at least against third party liabilities like damage to properties of third parties or death of third parties resulting from the accident they caused.

2. Now for insurances taken by the company, the amount the company can get from the insurance company to settle a victim for damage to the third party's property ( like cars, houses, fences, etc) are limited To certain amounts depending on the terms of the insurance policy . The limit may vary from 5m to 10m 15m, 20m, 40m etc.

3. For loss of live of a third party following such Accidents caused by their truck, the limit of compensation payable to the family of a victim following loss of life (like in the case of Phyna's sister) is unlimited but must be reasonable.

4. What point 3 above means is that if somebody dies in an accident caused by an injured truck like Phyna's late sister, the amount the insurance company will pay on behalf of the insured (Dangote group) is unlimited but must be reasonable. The family of the deceased can decide to claim 100m, 200m. 1bn, etc.

5. However, the insurer won't just pay them what they demanded but will subject their demand to test of reaonability. In doing that, the insurer will try to evaluate the deceased's educational qualification, what was her earning capability while alive? Was she working in a big place like NNPC, shell, etc where she earned millions monthly? Does she have a profession that earns her big money annually? Does she have dependants she provides for while alive who will suffer due to her sudden death? Is she the breadwinner of her family?

6. The answer to those questions will form the basis upon which the insurer will make their offer of financial compensation to the family of the deceased. Apparently, if Dangote truck kills a PhD holder who works as an engineer in an oil & gas company and also adjunct lecturer in University of Petroleum resources; the compensation Dangote's insurer will offer the man's family will be different from what they will offer a bus conductor who died in an accident involving a bus and Dangote truck.

7. Now when the offer is made, the family can protest but the insurer would most likely not budge. If Dangote group feels the issue may give them some serous reputational damage, they can accept the insurers offer and then proceed to add more money from the Company's purse to settle the victim's family especially if the family are threatening lawsuit.

8. Unfortunately in this phyna sister's case, we don't know if phyna and family had accepted the 20m, signed some serious binding legal documents that would mean they can't make further claims and she decided to come to social media to call the company out hoping she would get "justice".

9. In all, I hope she seeked legal opinion before taking all the steps she took because taking on a big organization like Dangote group that would be paying almost hundred of millions naira to retain the best lagal practitioners in the country no be play play.

PS: This post is not justify whether the 20m paid to the deceased's family was fair or not. It is just to explain what may have happened and how Phyna's fà milk y may not get beyond the 20m they had already gotten from Dangote (most likely pid by their insurers)

Jokes aside, it seems to be a Lagos or South-west problem. No report of scarcity in the East. Scarcity of any kind is bad cos it drives up prices. and I know how pissed I get when I have to buy anything above the normal price. I hope supply is restored to Lagos and environs soon, and it becomes abundantly available.

Now that you confirmed it's nit like that in the east, I guess it's a Lagos issue then.

I thought it was a non-issue at that point and decided to buy 8kg as against 13kg I normally buy ( My cylinder is bigger than the regular 12.5kg and takes more than 13.5kg to fill it sef).

Didn't want to stock so much at a high price, but now I feel I should've bought more sef with GloriousGbola confirming the scarcity has been a thing for a while.

i have been running my gen on gas for the last 9 months and i have had to go back to petrol

most places are completely stocked out and those that have are doing what they all do - inflating like mad

gas cylinder is 30 to 40k unlike jerrycan that is 5 to 8 k. so i cannot push myself to buy like 5 cylinders. if i had plenty cylinders i would have bought enough gas to last maybe two weeks posted here and let associated wankers start calling me cylinder'dor

gas that was at n980 per kg is now 1400 to 1700 depending on where you are buying from.

now imagine how it is for EATERIES, HOTELS and HOSPITALITY CONCERNS

I wasn't aware of the NLNG strike; I only know of the PENGASSAN vs Dangote face off that had been called off and ordinarily shouldn't affect suph of LPG nationwide normally.

As for hotels, eateries and those is hospitality business generally, only God knows how they survive. Doing business in Nigeria is not easy at all. So many unforseen circumstances will just affect Ur business out of nowhere.

So there's low-key scarcity of LPG(cooking gas) in Lagos ( I'm not sure of other states), and it's being grossly under reported in the media.

I also didn't know until this past week during the independence public holiday. I drove to a gas plant where we normally get gas at the official price and noticed they were shut. I spoke to one of the workers and he said they don't have stock hence why they shut their gates. Not far from there I saw a filling station with multitudes queuing up to get gas and I just had to leave there cos I wasn't going to lose hours of my holiday to queue for cooking gas.

I eventually bought at the cost of 1,400 per kg from a retailer not far from my my area and I just didn't give the whole thing much thought until yesterday I saw posts on social media showing people queuing up for gas in different parts of Lagos. I guess most people who still have gas reserve won't be able to relate for now.


If ur gas finish at this period, u either spend hours on queue to get it cheap or pay a very exorbitant price to refill from reatlilers who still have stock.

The point is Buhari didn't do anything significantly better than Jonathan to justify how Jonathan's administration has been chastised as it was uo till date. Remember Buhari was elected to make things better but that never happened considering the data. We shouldn't forget there was censorship of media at some point under Buhari.

That being said, I completely agree that it's a shame we are comparing worse president's when we should be comparing the best. It's unfortunate the situation we found ourselves.
