monerozi5590:You missed the part where anybody can still import ? If any of the importers can source their own forex independently , they can import as at today . This one u said u want to rest ur case, are u sure u are no longer interested in fighting for Dangote to be the only one supplying Nigerian market petroleum product ? |
monerozi5590:Were u not the one that showed me a link few days ago that FG borrowed another crude-backed loan ? What do u think NNPC mean by that ? |
monerozi5590: At a meeting between key oil marketers in the country and the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) on Tuesday to address the issues of incessant scarcity of petroleum products, the NMDPRA chief executive officer, Farouk Ahmed, emphasised that the NNPCL is currently the sole importer of petrol into the country. This is from the Link u shared. I told u there are other importers of peteroleum product because I actually followed the news and knew some importers were granted importation license. All the news is telling u is that those importers are expected to source their forex instead of getting forex from FG like they were doing in the past. Of their own volition to choose not to source forex independently despite having import license. How is that NNPC fault? Now the same NMDPRA that Dangote is fighting are encouraging importers to buy locally from Dangote if they can't access forex to carry out importation on their own. The marketers are kicking against it and want to do their importation themselves. You see NMDPRA is even trying to help Dangote , but Dangote wants importers to buy locally from him and also have NNPC stop importation. Is that fair to u? |
Segedinho:You have been reading the wrong news bro. We don't have surplus crude available like u are assuming. We have pledge some of the untapped crude to pay our creditors, so as soon as they explore the crude it gets shipped to our creditors. |
larride:This is basic economics. |
monerozi5590:Dangote is the new entrant who wants NMDRA to ban importation of petroleum products just to favor him. They have since explained the reason why they can't do that and their reason is logical. By the way, I don't know where u are getting u info from, but as at June 2023 , Six private companies were granted importation license for petroleum products. In fact, I know Emadeb energy still imported petroleum product in July 2023. |
larride:I don't think he even understands himself ![]() |
iamoyindamola: ![]() |
monerozi5590:So they should kill importation off for him who is a new entrant ba? Where is the logic in that ? So tomorrow if Dangote wakes and says he can only afford to sell "not enough" quantity to Nigeria while exporting majority of his refined products, what will we do? I guess we will all start blaming NNPC for fooolishly leaving Dangote to decide when we get fuel and what quantity we get as a nation. The earlier u start seeing Dangote refinery for what it is ( A private business set up for the sole aim of making profit), the better . |
Segedinho:If indeed Dangote refinery will save cost and thus make his product cheap, why then is he not flooding the market with that cheap product so that the expensive product of the importers will not sell? Pray tell |
monerozi5590:Everything u have written here is just sentiment and nothing else. Have the importers been existing before the advent of Dangote refinery? Yes! Did FG/NNPC enter into any agreement with Dangote that they(NNPC) will cut off importers as soon as Dangote refinery come up? I don't know; I'm sure you don't know this as well. So far there is no contract or agreement binding NNPC to Dangote and vice versa, make each party do what works for them. |
TrebleChamp:You are conflating different issues together. Those companies leaving the country are citing foreign exchange losses, high interest rate , etc as their reasons which we have dragged FG for. But Dangote is moaning about being asked to compete with importers. They are two different things. |
Theflint1:Herein lies ur answer . Dangote is doing everything he's doing for profit motive. If tomorrow he gets crude for a better price from let's say Iran, do u think he will buy from Nigeria? Especially if he didn't sign any agreement with NNPC that he's under compulsion to buy from them. If u remember immediately the refinery was commissioned by Buhari we started hearing stuff like " The Dangote refinery will not necessarily make fuel cheaper". Whereas all through the construction period we were under the impression that the refinery will solve all our energy crises in this country. We were seeing it as a joint venture between the FG and Dangote to end our oil and gas problem. It was then Dangote came out and started singing a different tune. I don't pity him one bit because he was part of the con job done on us for so long |
GloriousGbola:Dangote , his friend Otedola and Adeshina have got Treblechamp where they want him to be . In one breath they claim this whole issue is not about Dangote wanting to enjoy monopoly and in another breath they are saying “ Dangote cannot be asked to compete with importers “….smh . Just look at the screenshot from the Otedola’s tweet. Why can’t Dangote compete with importers ? What makes him special ? I thought it is a free market . Dangote is free to source crude from anywhere in the world and he’s also free to export refined product to any country in the world . So why does he want the FG to ban importers from importing products that will compete with his own refined product in Nigeria ? Did he sign any agreement with NNPC that gives him such privilege ? I mean this is the same Dangote that has continually maintained that siting of Dangote refinery in Nigeria doesn’t necessarily mean we will be buying cheap fuel . This is the same Dangote that set up a London trading office just for the purpose of managing crude and fuel deals for his refinery all over the world .

GloriousGbola:I've seen it. Dangote and the people he's snitching on are birds of the same feather jare. I'm less concerned about his current ordeal, he's been in bed with these people for so long. He's only coming out now because this government is not "favoring him and his family " ni |
GloriousGbola:Nothing to see here. NNPC is just a typical government owned agency/parastatal/corporation. Forget about the NNPC Limited they call it now, it is still a federal government run establishment where the leadership is occupied by political office holders. The current chairman of board of NNPC Pius Akinyelure is Tinubu's padi who was former APC vice chairman. The man himself is a seasoned oil and gas expert. I don't think whatever goes on in NNPC is about being Northerners or something along that line. Different ethnic groups work within NNPC and I believe every group is carried along in whatever scam is being run within that space |
This is the real Sakamanje ; the senior brother to Tulamania ![]()

iamoyindamola:This was what I told the chelsea guy yesterday |
iamoyindamola: ![]() Na to go beg the airline operators with tears in his eyes o. I doubt they will even allow him gain access to where the plane is again |
izzou:Passerby? They know people in the area will come out when they know a minister is coming for inspection. So they plan ahead to engage them by bringing public address system with them na. Simple Struvs! |
izzou:He obviously planned for the speech and his aides arranged for a public address system along with them while going |
izzou:Just dey play. How many refineries were near completion as at 2021 when he made that request ? He was requesting a monopoly as at that time. A monopoly which he intends to transcend to oligopoly when other refineries come on board; but before then he would've gained market leadership and have the rest of the market follow. If u can read between the lines, u will see Dangote knows what he's doing. At this point, he's only using the people's dislike for the government to his advantage by whipping up sentiment. |
Dangote has said the monopoly tag is unfair…. Yen yen yen….😏 This is a 2021 thread on Nairaland which reported the news of Dangote group seeking a sort of importation license monopoly https://www.nairaland.com/6437570/dangote-wants-only-refinery-license How can somebody be denying what his chief strategy officer demanded for 3 years ago ? |
Segedinho:Do you know there are other companies FG holds shares in this country and such companies don’t ask FG for monopoly ? The companies just do their business , when they make gain they pay FG dividends like they do other shareholders and everybody smiles to the bank ? So why is Dangote asking for monopoly for his own business? |
Some of the questions we should be asking are : 1. Was there an agreement/contract between FG/NNPC and Dangote Refinery that crude feedstock will be made available to Dangote at a price that will be favorable to him by IOC’s? 2. Was there an agreement between FG/NNPC and Dangote refinery that importation of refined petroleum products will be banned as soon as Dangote refinery starts rolling out products ? 3. Is the Dangote refinery a private business or a Joint venture between FG and Dangote group ; Just like oil exploration is a joint venture between FG and some IOC’s ? |
liveLongNprospa:Dangote go whine u, but no panic 😎 |
larrideX:You Dey mind them ? Dangote that most likely still has a lot of financial obligations to the principal lenders for the refinery . A financial obligation he’s willing to see through before the refinery is finally his own. A lot of people don’t even know how these things work. Maybe they think Dangote had $19 billion somewhere which he used to finance the refinery sef . 😂 Yes the refinery is valued at $19 billion but definitely the refinery was funded by a consortium of lenders whom Dangote will pay back in due time as per the facility arrangement . All those projects are debt finance . If someone offers to pay Dangote off , he obviously wouldn’t sell sef cos he knows in the long run he will be the loser while whoever buys the debt will be the winner. Make dem Dey dere make Dangote Dey play ping pong with their emotions |
liveLongNprospa:I already read the news before saying it’s clickbait . If u read the news and u sincerely Dangote is willing to sell his refinery , then I don’t know what to tell u. The guy is just playing on y’all emotions and as it stands , it appears he’s been very successful while at it. |
liveLongNprospa:Clickbait from Premium Times |
Ibime:Done ! |
