izzou:The title is not misleading . I read the entire post and Umahi simply said they won’t fund all existing road projects due to paucity of funds, instead they will give priority to roads that had already reached 80% completion. So what happens to roads that they inherited but still on 50%, 60%, 70% completion stage ? They won’t be given priority no matter how important that particular road is . But they can start a new coastal road that costs 15 trillion Naira Shey? |
izzou:But the government can award and fund new contracts that are unnecessary Abi ? |
TrebleChamp:Only APC members and supporters are deceiving themselves that the Coastal road project is not a money laundering venture . Tinubu just wanted to reward his business partners ; the Chagoury’s and that’s all. Government wey no get money to complete existing road project is awarding a 15 trillion coastal road contract . SMH .🤦♂️ We must learn a lesson ! 🙅♂️ |
WhoDeyHause:Happy birthday bro . May u not go broke like dead barka ![]() |
Jarus:Nice 👍 |
raumdeuter:From the document attached in the link, the case has not been concluded na. The case was adjourned till 30/09/2024 when the Magistrate will most likely strike out the charge if Jarus complies with all the 3 conditions stated in the second page of the document. Is the poster not deliberately mis-representing a CTC of court proceedings for a CTC of court judgment. ![]() |
iamoyindamola:Thanks. Just drop the first two seasons. |

iamoyindamola:Yeah, it is the Ogun river that discharges into the Lagos Lagoon . Na why u fit enter ferry from Ebute ero in Lagos island to Ikorodu |
iamoyindamola:U know it is that same Lagos Lagoon that reach Ikorodu too. Na why flood challenge sef Dey happen when it rains |
GloriousGbola:I agree with u that the bolded are contributory factors to flooding, but the impact of climate change cannot be overemphasized. U see ehn, Lagos is just a microcosm of Nigeria as a whole. The people who populate Lagos are Nigerians from different parts of the country, they are typical Nigerians. Government can have plans from today till tomorrow, the fact that we are Nigerians who will behave like Nigerians u cannot expect things will go according to plans. We will always deviate from master plan in this country That being said, sooner or later Lekki will face serious environmental problems with climate change being a thing. Nigeria like most African countries is not prepared for the wind climate change will blow. |
iamoyindamola:I don't know if u remember in the late 90's/early 2000s what they usually call Lekki then; LEKKI PENINSULA That Name Lekki Peninsula was not just for fashion, rather it is because that is what Lekki is; A peninsula. A Peninsula is a piece of land that is surrounded by water on almost all sides. It is common knowledge that Peninsulas are prone to flooding, now add the effect of climate change and then u have serious flood challenge. I believe most people have forgotten this and they somehow expect miracle to happen to prevent flooding. Unfortunately flodding will continue to ravage that Lekki axis, demolishing houses (as being done by LASG) can only delay the long term impact of flooding in the axis but cannot prevent it. |
liveLongNprospa:Whether they back him or not, what is done is done. The supreme court judgement is final. Even if a new president is voted tomorrow, LG autonomy is here to stay. |
larride:I said it here yesterday that most of those LCDA/LGA chairmen focus on using the chairmanship to raise funds for their future political adventure. Where I used to live before, we had one vice chairman like that. No meaningful impact all through the two terms he served. Himself (Vice Chairman ) and the Chairman just use the two terms lift their two financial status ni. Before the end of their tenure both bought houses in Lekki and left roads and other infrastructure worse than they met them. |
izzou:@The bold. Somebody finally says things the way they are. Most people almost make that deliberate error of comparing two things/situations that are not the same. As the saying goes: To whom much is given, much is expected. The kind of revenue that can be generated internally in LGA's like Kosofe, Ikeja, Ojo, Eti-Osa and Lagos Island will definitely dwarf whatever LGA's like Epe, Badagry, Ifako Ijaiye, Agege etc can generate. Seeing the first set chairmen of the first set of LGA's doing really well in terms of infrastructure will definitely be a normal thing, but it becomes an anomaly of they are being bested by LGA chairmen of Epe, Agege, Ifako Ijaiye, etc in terms of quality projects despite paucity of funds. It is just the same way people just wake and start comparing Lagos state with other states that do not have the good grace of enjoying the privilege of being Nigeria's commercial capital. Sometimes when u point these things out, people will see it as u supporting mediocrity. That being said, I believe one thing that is needed mostly in Nigeria is the full implementation of the Freedom of Information (FOI) act. Let LGA's publish their own financial accounts too; let it be accessible by the public. If I know my LGA only made/received N1billion , I will tailor my expectations of their administration's infrastructural project to be within that budget. I won't judge my LGA from the viewpoint of someone whose LGA has N15billion at their disposal. I think that will also help u know LGA chairman wey dey steal funds pass; u will be able to evaluate project on ground with the funds they claimed they utilized on it. |
KingTom:Ogun state roads are just so terrible . God supposed punish the incumbent governor and his predecessors . 😡 |
swiz123:I think people should focus on both the central and state . People should not lose sight of both. Like u rightly said , the government at the central controls the economy on a macro level , they formulate policies that affect our lives like fuel subsidy removal, increase in electricity tariffs , floating of the Naira , etc that has brought serious hardship upon the people .Of course, the people are within their right to drag the federal government for that as well as insecurity challenges and other things that are within the purview of the federal government . On the other hand the people too should hold their governors accountable for refusing to deliver on things that are within their purview . The people should drag governors that refuse to build schools/fund education, governors that refuse to construct roads within their states , governors that refuse to make public healthcare facilities available in their states , governors that refuse to fund agricultural initiatives etc but instead are buying expensive vehicles , marrying wives , spending security votes without anything to show for it. It is only when people do the neck pressing from both ends that we will see considerable development in this country . The federal government & state government relationship should be a case of Paul Planted, Apollos watered |
larride:The guy was minister for just 3 years and stole N33 billion Only God knows the total amount stolen by the combined ministers under Buhari's 8 year regime. |
iamoyindamola:People need to start concentrating on LGA chairmen now. Most of them just use the position to enrich themselves and build a base for them to contest House of assembly elections ni. When I was in the university, I had an acquaintance (Not really a friend). Their father was a Local government chairman who did 3 terms, levelled up and contested for house of reps. He won the HoR seat and moved to Abuja straight. It is only during Ileya and Itunu Awe he will come around and do poverty alleviation (by sharing seing machine, grinding machine, Motorcycle, hair dryer etc to his loyalists in the area). Most people can't really point to what he did while he was LGA chairman o. I think people need to start focusing on LGA chairmen so that people don't just see the seat as a place where u just go to raise ur capital for future political adventure |
izzou:I think the son probably believes Tinubu is indirectly responsible for his father's current political imbroglio and I will tell u why. El-Rufai went for the ministerial screening like the rest of the nominees, he was about to be screened when he was informed there's a strong petition against him and that he needs to take a bow while they refer the petition to security agencies and the presidency.(Akpabio said this specifically with his own mouth) I believe El-Rufai thinks if indeed Tinubu wants him to serve in his cabinet, he will overrule whatever strong petition was against him and he will be confirmed without any drama. Afterall, Bagudu who helped Abacha loot this country dry was confirmed minister despite the hues and cries of people about his past. Elrufai seeing nobody in the presidency will do him such favours just respected himself and withdrew from the ministerial nomination. Now, the fact Elrufai had no leg to stand on at the central was enough grounds for Uba Sani to move against him on the home front. I believe the Elrufai boy thinks at least for the sake of his father's solidarity with Tinubu during the campaign, he deserved more than what he got. This is just what I think o. |
iamoyindamola: The court's ruling on the matter is an assault on true federalism. The federal government has no right to interfere with the administration of Local Governments in under any guise whatsoever. There are only two tiers of government in a federal system of government.Omo! Nigerian politicians are just trerrible! Imagine Ibori saying there are only two tiers of government in a federal government i.e Federal government and state government. So, he's literally saying they taught us nonsense from primary school to secondary that there are 3 tiers of government viz: Federal, state and local governments. If there are two tiers of government in a federal system of government, then why are they doing LGA election? Abi Ibori don write him own constitution wey he no gree share with us ni? |
GloriousGbola:U hit the nail on the head. Lagos state for example before this judgement the LGA's/LCDA's have been enjoying financial autonomy as Sanwoolu claimed, yet some of those LGA/LCDA chairman are still useless. Most of them don't live anywhere close to their LGA's at all. Na Lekki most of them dey stay. Ordinary Trunk C road for them to maintain in their LGA they won't do it. They go to their LGA's few times in a month. Maybe if they stay among their people they will have no choice but to work small |
liveLongNprospa:I have always known it was partly propaganda and partly scapegoating. Dem leave person wey use his first day in office to introduce serious hardship, dem dey attack sellers wey dey adjust price with economic realities. |
Amigoss:Most Local government chairmen no send any yeye infrastructure o; especially in this Lagos. They are only interested in collecting funds, buy house in Lekki and share whatever they generate at the council level amongst themselves. |
Amigoss:Alimosho extends far and beyond those 4 places u mentioned and to be honest Alimosho took a new facelift during Ambode's era. Ambode commissioned 21 roads and two bridges in one day. https://www.vanguardngr.com/2018/04/966638/ Among the projects commissioned from Tuesday and expected to climax on Saturday include Ijegun-Isheri-Osun-Isolo Road, Idimu-Ejigbo Road (Phase II), New Market Road, Camp Davies Road/Ishefun Road, all in Alimosho Local Government Areahttps://punchng.com/ambode-commissions-10-roads-three-bridges/ If u know these places before and after Ambode constructed those roads ehn, U will know Ambode really worked in Lagos contrary to what his detractors even in his own party say |
Amigoss:There are quite a number of places in Alimosho that have good road networks . Alimosho is not the heart of a city like Ikeja or Lagos Island so u shouldn’t expect to see this kind of intersection , traffic light ,etc. That’s for the main city like Ikeja, VI , etc . But Alimosho definitely has good roads for a local government that is on the outskirts of Lagos. In fact Alimsoho get good roads pass Ogun state sef .😄 |
Funny how nobody is blaming market sellers for hike in price of commodities any longer. Nobody is suggesting FG to start locking stores where they sell products at a price reflective of their cost and overheads. I guess everybody woke up and smelt the coffeee |
Leyqute:I like sharp strikers like Watkins |
