Mary Habila, known as Mara Wisdom on Facebook, was never a practicing physiotherapist but rather a nurse.

The Physiotherapist Association of Nigeria has come out to deny that she was a practicing physiotherapist and their member.

She was never one as David Umahi is attributing her to be but rather a nurse.

Also, she had never lived in Abuja; rather, she was from southern Kaduna.

She lived and worked in Kaduna until her passing in Umahi's country home in Uburu, Ebonyi State.

Sahara Reporters, in their own version of the story, claimed that she arrived in Uburu, one night before her fatal passing, from Kaduna, where she lived and worked.

From the look of things, it seems their version of the story is correct.

It’s not that easy for the players and that’s why we need the club protect them from themselves sometimes.

Remember what happened after he went down in 2023? We essentially lost the title because of his absence. The same thing happened to Les Bleus, he went down and they immediately hit rock bottom.

The issue is that we are rotating enough during the season to give these players some rest. Rice own is inevitable, he is the highest risk at this point.

I don't see how Saliba could've been rotated last season and we wouldn't have suffered for it both in the EPL and UCL. I don't think anybody is to blame for Saliba's ill health, I think it's just his body that gave way. Sometimes some good players can be plagued with unfortunate injuries that is no fault of theirs.

I honestly don't believe Sahara's story , neither do I believe Umahi's account of the story.

She may most likely have died of natural causes or whatever medical condition she has......But I also believe a 26 year old nurse didn't just miraculously find herself seconded to the ministry of works where she works with the best boss that flies her around, foot her medical bills and took her as a "daughter". There's certainly a deeper connection to their relationship we may never really know anyways.

People living right within Umahi's staff quarters must have supplied them with some of the details that got the story going. Don't be surprised if it is one of the staff who noticed the lady's closeness to Umahi without understanding their deal must have suggested to the media guys that she was most likely his girlfriend. It's usually people close to scene of some of these incidents that leak info like this.

When they see how the man spends on her , how she gets to travel from Abuja to Ebonyi regularly flying with him(which he actually confirmed in the video); it's not really hard for them to piece one and two together and sell the story to Sahara reporters.

Let's not forget the other lady that came out to call Umahi out for owing her for his campaign souvenir contracts back then, she made mention of Umahi making advances at her along the line. If Sahara mix all of these together, they have enough missile in their arsenal to launch at him and that's what they did.

The lady was actually found naked in Umahi's country home. What Umahi did was to clarify and put things into context that the house belonged to him but the area the lady slept and was found was the staff quarters part of the house. According to the lady's friend , when they knocked and called her and were met with silence; they broke the door and found her naked on the floor of the room unconscious.

I agree that Sahara reporters and other media outlet that initially broke the news were sensational about the whole thing. They probably have an axe to grind with Umahi and it's unfortunate the lady's demise is chance they are trying to use to get at him.

But if u watch the video, the way Umahi too was boasting "I am David, I am never afraid of battle and I've not lost any battle before", you will see why his "enemies" too don't mind throwing anything at him to see what sticks.

I watched this and believe most of the things he said in the video will likely check out. But, I still don't understand some things about this whole case:

1. He says she's a nurse and not a physiotherapist as claimed by some media agencies. He went further to say she's a staff of Dave Umahi University for Medical Sciences but on secondment to Federal Ministry of works. Do things like that happen? I mean someone is a staff of a Teaching hospital in Ebonyi state but somehow gets seconded to Federal Ministry of works in Abuja. How?

2. He claims she regularly visits Turkish Hospital Abuja to receive treatment for whatever medical condition she has and he foots the bills. The last time she was there, he spent N2.2 million as the cost for her treatment. Omo! I don't know of many Ogas that will spend N2.2m on just one staff for a visit at one of the best hospitals in Nigeria, especially if the staff is not related to him by blood. The kind of relationship that must have existed between them for him to be footing that much medical bill on her ehnnnn.... It must have extended beyond she just being a random nurse posted to the ministry.

3. He says the lady as his personal nurse administers medications on him and staff that work with him. Abeg the doctors in the house, are nurses licensed to do that without the supervision/recommendation of a doctor? I was thinking even if the Federal ministry of works requires its own medical personnel, it would be doctors who would take the lead while the nurses only assist them/follow the instructions of the doctors assigned to the ministry/minister.

Do we say the Dave Umahi is doing what the average man on the street does which involves going to any nurse who lives close by and collect injection, drip and medications without a doctor's recommendation?

This might hold water only because the government itself might want the scandal to be swept under the rug. In actuality, the request of the family does not trump that of the state. If the state gets a court order to carry out the autopsy the family will have no choice in the matter. If Umahi was an opposition leader that the government wants to attack, a simple court order will override any demands by the family.

You have to look at it in a broad sense and not just this specific case. In a case for example in which a family member is responsible for the crime the family can now hide the crime by saying we want our child's organs intact and block an autopsy.

In a criminal case of murder, it is not just the safety of the immediate family that is at stake but that of the whole community.

I know, that was why I specifically said this is Nigeria. The family just needs to throw in religious beliefs and some other sentimental reasons for avoiding autopsy and they will have their way.

We have weak institutions and the law is not always upheld to the letter in Nigeria.

When my old man was sick and we were in LASUTH, while going to get some medical supplies and pay for tests, I saw a man who was literally fighting some medical personnel and threatening to cause a scene if they don't let him have his way. The man's young son died ( I really don't know the cause ) and it seems according to protocol the boy is supposed to be taken in an Ambulance to the mortuary. I guess probably pathologist needs to work on the boy or something but the father objected. He held on to the ambulance and prevented the driver and the person accompanying the body to leave the spot. Not even 4 people could restrain the man, he asked them to release the boy's body so he can bury him same day.

The whole scene that day was pretty depressing for me. I just couldn't wait to see what happened eventually , but it seems the medical personnel were willing to skip protocol and release the body to him as of the time I left the scene.

Except someone dies through gunshot wound or in a crime scene, I doubt anybody forces northern Muslims to do autopsy . We all know if security operatives try to force them, the mob will mobilize and nearly burn down the police station. They will see such attempt as an affront on their religious beliefs. That's why I said the man can claim it is against his religious beliefs and they will just let him have his way.

That being said, I get the point u made about if Umahi was in the opposition and has issues with the ruling party. Of course, the ruling party will just find something give the deceased's father and he will be the one calling for autopsy on the top of his voice. Nigeria na one kind country las las.

“That it is my family’s wish and humble appeal, despite medical and investigative protocols, to leave her body and organs intact, hence this affidavit.”

The deponent further told the court that he does not wish to continue with the investigation and requested the immediate release of his daughter’s body.

“That I also wish not to proceed further with the investigation and further request to have my daughter’s body released to me for burial,” he stated.

“That I will not honour subsequent invitations by the Police or the Court in respect of this case as my family does not suspect any foul play.”

Miss Habila died at the Minister of Works’ residence in Uburu, where she served as part of the minister’s immediate staff

The father of the deceased has gone to high court to swear an affidavit that he doesn't want his late daughter's remains sliced open to conduct autopsy. The law will have no choice but to respect their decision.

But what I find confusing is the part where the man says his daughter is Umahi's personal nurse while in actual fact she is a physiotherapist. I really don't think the man knows exactly what his daughter does. She has been working for 3 years at Umahi's office ....hmmmm

If the family don't want her subjected to autopsy, there's pretty not much the security agencies will do. This is Nigeria, not some western country where the law is followed to the latter.
