Osun State is only a few days away from its gubernatorial election. Therefore, nothing ought to be done to give an impression that the EFCC or indeed any other agency of the federal government is being used to interfere with the election.

Based on the foregoing premise, I am duty-bound to issue a directive on this issue in consonance with the overriding public interest in preserving public confidence and the integrity, credibility, and fairness of our democratic process.

Accordingly, I have directed the EFCC to immediately proceed to the court to vacate the order and discontinue whatever action it has instituted against the Osun State Government in this regard.

This looks like an after thought considering Tinubu's spokesperson was retweeting EFCC's shalaye few hours ago.

I guess the public criticism and media backlash made the federal government rethink the decision.

Anyways whether it was an after-thought or not, it's good they eventually gave good reasoning a chance even if it's just this once.

It's simply because in marriage you will need patience, tolerance and ability to unlearn, learn and relearn.

The FG has made a U-turn on their position on the Catholic Bishop's visit. I wonder why people like Akume who still have sense didn't release this statement first instead of allowing Charlatans like Bwala and co to be insulting the Cardinal for airing his opinion which majority of Nigerians shared.

Shame on Bwala and other APC people that left the message and started attacking the messenger . It's just unfortunate that even some educated APC supporters online felt the best way to address the concerns of the Bishops is to attack the Cardinal instead of taking the criticism as the feedback government needs to do better in securing lives and properties.

He noted that both parties equally acknowledged progress recorded under the administration, citing the student loan programme and recent successes by security agencies in securing the release of abducted schoolchildren and teachers, even as he maintained that differences in assessment between government and the Church should not be read as a breakdown in mutual respect.[/b]

“Many of the challenges confronting our nation require partnership. Faith communities, traditional institutions, civil society, the private sector and citizens all have indispensable roles to play in promoting peace, strengthening social cohesion and advancing national development.

The Cardinal and Catholic Bishops met the president, they gave him an assessment of the economony, insecurity situation and general overview of things from the view point of a common Nigerian.

Instead of taking the feedback serious like a responsible government is expected, they have gone on war of words and campaign of calumny against the Cardinal in particular and the Catholic bishops.

In their desperation they to discredit the Charolic bishops and the Cardinal they forged a letter purportedly written by the Catholic Youth Association of Nigeria denouncing he Cardinal and distancing itself from the Bishops' factual position as conveyed to the presidency.

The fake open letter was quickly circulated by pro-APC accounts on social media with the intention of fooling the few people that will be guillible enough not to see through the obvious forgery and manipulation.

The real Catholic Youth Organization of Nigeria has now come out to disclaim the forged letter which was circulated by Pro-APC propaganda mercineries.

It's just a shame that a party that claims all is well with the country will stoop this low just so they don't agree with well known facts and take responsibility for their failures . We've never had it this bad ; It's a shame! 🤮🤮🤮

The bone of contention on this matter is that Insecurity has gotten worse under this Tinubu's administration. We all thought things were bad under Buhari but in the past 3 years it had gone from bad to worse under Tinubu.....

It’s not what I’d like to hear, it’s the economic reality of Nigerians and you are welcome to politicize or feign ignorance towards it. When his own Bishops come out to defend or politicize, they should remember they will return to the pulpit and still try to cajole their followers who are enduring the pain for offertory.

While I don’t live in Nigeria, I am very active in the economy and lives of many and know what people are enduring, so you can get hired Bishops or religious people to sing his own praise.

I am not a hypocrite, I know when to call a spade a spade. I am not going to live abroad and pretend like everything hasn’t worsened in Nigeria.

Friends and associates who previously were at least ok, are now struggling and asking for help. The middle class is gradually eroding! See, I speak of my own experience and I don’t have time to sugar coat things especially when the facts are in your face.

The Catholic Bishops speaking truth to power deserve a lot of praise. At a time when religious leaders are trying to pander to the government's incompetent handling of this country as the best we can get as a people ; sitting with the president and telling him reality of things without fear is really really commendable.

One would think Tinubu and his co-travellers will take the honest feedback for what it is and not resort to lashing out like they've been responding to opposition members and non-APC members complaining about reality of things. Due dilligence is very paramount when investing in Nigeria, just like anywhere else, however there is good profit to be made.

For context I had sold a property property in the UK, had the proceed in my bank account, pointless having it there.
Option1: Buy another property in the UK, not much upside considering I am no longer resident in the UK, returns around 5%; complicates my task in my current country.

Option2: Apartment Lekki PH1, Ikoyi, Ikeja GRA, VI, Oniru - Our discussions made the apartment choice & thinking possible cos most people will use same funds to build a whole house in other locations. This works better for me, as I save about N10M annually on shortlet apartment (N5M Self 2/3 times visit to Lagos, additional N5M immediate family) savings on shortlet expenses alone is more than the money I could have made on UK rental income or savings, then annually I get between $5k-10k as income from shortlet becos Imake the place fullly available for peak period like December. Whilst is might not seem alot for avid investors I am more than thrilled with my RoI on an investment of $95k.

Also, though I am not interested in selling, the apartment has more than doubled in value, similar apartments are now being sold in Lekki PH1 around N320M -N370M all in a space of 3years.

So, I won't say don't invest in Nigeria, do you due dillegence, run the numbers (especially cost of capital) only invest if it works for you, like all investments there's risk reward.
