So if its an area boy who cornered and started punching you, and its clear you can't overpower or stop him, with hands on a gun, what will you do?
Area boys are criminals ; but then again how did u come about a gun as a private citizen ?. Unlawful possession of fire arm is still a crime in naija .

U Dey use crime fight crime ? 😂

I am not sure this is right, So I can only shoot people who bring a gun and anything less than a gun should not be shot?
So if Mike Tyson is punching me and my hand touches a gun, It will be manslaughter?
Mike Tyson punching u is different na. Mike Tyson is a trained boxer whose blow is actually capable of sending u to hospital bed.

What I’m telling u is; the law will require u to prove that ur life was in serious danger before u resorted to using maximum force to defend urself .

A man of almost same size as u cannot slap u only for u to shoot him in response . U will be jailed .

Even normal assault and battery sef , when u are using self defence as reason for assaulting another person u must make sure the forces applied is proportionate to what the other person was capable of doing to u.

How do you judge this

If the guy with the gun is a security agent empowered by the law of the land to effect an arrest while the other guy on boxers shorts is a criminal; he can claim he was trying to arrest a criminal who resisted arrest and he had no choice but to apply maximum force.

However, if they were both civilians then the guy with the gun has just committed manslaughter irrespective of the fact that the guy on boxers attacked him first.

U can't use self defense as an excuse if the proportion of defence is not commensurate with the proportion of the attack launched on u by the other party. For example, if I slap/punch u and u decided to shoot me because u have a gun in ur possession, the law will not accept ur defence that all u did was self defense. In the face of the law ur act will be deemed as manslaughter. U can't use gun to fight me wey punch u na

Broccoli for Aboki wheelbarrow, cheap pass Broccoli for Shoprite

Stationeries at Kings street, Lagos Island and CSS Bookshop is cheaper than ShopRite

There are items that are rip offs in these big malls.

But in general, they have more cheaper items, especially those made in Nigeria
Imported food items like broccoli, apple, pear , etc. are actually smuggled in through land boarders like Seme, Badagry.U know clearing goods in Cotonou port is cheaper. Abokis buy from those who bring them into naija and they are cheaper than the one shoprite imports from South Africa which they pay standard import duty on.

As for stationeries, most of those publishers of books and those distributing stationeries have direct access to those sellers around CMS side. I honestly don't know why shoprite stationeries are more expnsive sha .

also another example, most phones like techno, ifinix and the rest are way costlier in the malls than their counterparts outside the malls, and yet they are the same quality and everything.what i see as the problem is when buying outside, you should know where to look and not just buying from anyone you see.
You are conflating two different issues na. We are talking of food items, provisions, toiletries, electronics, groceries and other household items sold in malls like Shoprite, Spar , etc. Vs what is being sold in the market by retailers.

If it was about phones in shops in computer viallage vs Phone in stores like Slot, microstation, etc; of course that's a totally different argument all together

it is actually the other way round.

indomie is currently 400 or higher on the street but in at least two malls it is N335 for the 100g pack

market square has consistently sold coke below what it is sold everywhere else. it is only n the past month they raised their price of coke to 350

you have to take the time to check multiple stores. because sometimes, you actually cannot make sense of their pricing regimen. ie one store ha s the item for 5k, another has it for 7k

by the time you regularly visit different stores, you will know which one is the best place to buy a particular item

and that is the problem with the market, because they will always size you up first before giving you a price.

if you are in festac, avoid temple hill though - since their fire incidents, their prices have been 101% ridiculous.
The bold is the koko.

I detest the fact that market men and women will just size you up and start giving outrageous price. Sometimes u will be too angry in ur spirit to even know where to start haggling the price. Unlike malls who already determined the cost price, added their profit margin and fix a selling price which u can either buy or refuse to buy after comparing the price with price elsewhere

most malls use this tactic, some basic things will have good prices like drinks and things like indomie.....but for many other stuffs, the profit margin they put there is outrageous.
Which other stuff is their profit margin outrageous? Mention those items.

I bought a TV, a microwave, and a home theatre system in the electronic section of these malls sometimes in the past and at each point in time the prices I got were better than what Emeka, Chimaobi, Okwy God and sons sold in their big electronic stores. And the chances of buying a fake appliance is even reduced when u buy from these malls cos they buy directly from the major distributors in naija.

that rexona will be way cheaper in the markets.
Just dey play grin

Maybe it is the fake one u will buy cheaper in the market.

Do u even know how those malls make their money ? They buy in bulk at cheaper prices from either the producer(If the producer is Naija based) or major distributor( If the goods is produced abroad but distributed by a naija distributor). They are able to sell at either the normal retail price or even slightly lesser than the retail price on the street.

Booku for example, most people who sell noodles in shops now go to Booku to buy and resell in their provision shops beside the house cos it is way cheaper there.

How much Rexona does the shop beside ur house sell in a month that will afford him the luxury of selling original rexona at a price lesser than Shoprite that buys directly from source in large quantity?

See this ur sentiment is just fallacy and nothing more. Some of us have over time discovered it is cheaper buying from malls than normal retail markets. The only items that are relatively cheaper in retail markets are perishable items like pepper, tomatoes, maybe meat and fish.

Exactly ! It will even be foolishness on a businessman’s part to hike the price of his product when he has so many competitors springing up everyday .

For example within 15-20 minutes drive from me I could access 2 booku mart, 2 justrite, 2 Jendol, 1 Reno store , 1 Belenco and a few handful of not so popular stores/marts that sell almost the same products . If one mart decides to price themselves out of the market , I will move to the others with more competitive pricing .

He could be very right.

One of the strategies of those businesses is to commit a huge financial base to a product, and they get a much lower cost price. That way, a 100% profit would not even show to the consumer

Shoprite can pay for 10 million bottles of Coke. NBC may decide to sell for them at 1 naira per bottle. If they sell it at 30 naira, you would think it is cheap. But they cashed out well.

The ambience, their properties, structures, services, insurance, marketing...Do you really think it is 30 naira profit that is taking care of it?

What you call cheap as a customer, could be something the seller got a 300% profit from
What u described here is totally different from what he claimed in his post.

He claimed mega marts buy items and add 80% profit margins on it thereby making the product expensive unnecessarily to the final consumer .

Now what u explained up there is mega marts leveraging on economies of scale. They negotiate with producers to sell to them at a cheaper price because they are buying in large quantities so they can sell at almost same price with other wholesalers/retailers . The mart has not done any wrong doing this . In fact it is a commensalism relationship between the producer and the mart . Neither is the final consumer suffering by paying a higher price .

He alluded that mega marts deliberately hike prices and I’m asking him to show such instances and maybe mention such products he thinks they do that on

In many schools it's usually corpers, PTA teachers that teach these core subjects while the main employed teachers will be handling shorthand, typing, CRK and those subjects you can do lesson note and give to some student to write notes on the board

For NYSC, we had like 23 corpers. That should tell you how much we were in control of the teaching force.

I was taking SS3 Math's, another corper taking Physics another taking Chemistry

Truth is most of the permanent teachers are usually scared of some technical subjects for SS classes cos I can bet many of them cannot get 70% in Waec for those subjects so they will gladly pass them to corpers and younger PTA teachers who are fresh from Uni
A lot has changed now. Most of those elderly teachers have retired now.

Yes Healthcare workers in govt hospitals are the real MVPs na dem dey work pass. The others na just ghosting. If they can sack the ones in ministries and those redundant places to employ more Healthcare workers that will make sense

Even teachers many are just taking unproductive subjects. Some schools will have 10 history, 10 CRK, 10 IRK, but 2 English, No physics and 1 Math's teacher
This is not always true.

I attended a Lagos state government school and I know the teachers are actually trying. In fact some of the schools don't have enough teachers to cater for the teeming population of students. For example SS 1 may consist of SS 1 A - SS1 J. That means 10 different classes which may be 4 Science class, 4 Commercial class and 2 Art Class.

The teacher taking the 2 SS 1 classes CRK will be the same person taking the SS2 and SS3 CRK classes as well. Which means he will be having classes almost every day . When it is exams period, the sheer number of scripts he or she has to mark lasan. The same situation applies to subjects like Maths, English, Physics, Financial Accounts, Economics etc.

I served in a unity school owned by federal government and the same situation is obtainable there. They don't surplus teachers who sit idle doing nothing; In fact they use Youth corper teachers to supplement the permanent teachers.

The idea that some subjects are unproductive is somehow sha. Those subjects u call unproductive are actually prerequisite for u to gain admission to study some courses like law .

There is nothing APC has done that has matched what PDP under GEJ did to opposition just GEJ not even OBJ

Under GEJ he weaponized the state agency like military who dealt with opposition. That was the job of Obanikoro minister of state for defence, Olukayode and one Col Sagir. If APC wanted to match this, they will deploy soldiers to harrass Obi and Datti

Under GEJ they used the media to smear their opponents where AIT and NTA were airing propaganda pieces on Buhari and Tinubu, It was when GEJ lost that Dokpesi had to apologize on all newspaper. TVC and NTA did not do hit pieces on Obi

Under GEJ prominent PDP people like Fayose took newspaper aadverts to announce the death of Buhari, No one did that to Obi under APC

Under GEJ, when reports reached the security advisers that GEJ was going to lose if elections took place in February, he moved the date of the election to March and in the time between increased propaganda and pressure on APC. No one did that to Obi

Nollywood, Musicians, Transformation Agents of Nigeria did all sorts of propaganda and insults to prominent APC members, If not that "the "Buhari pull over" clip has been pulled from youtube I will post it here

The supporter of APC example is still here not the word in bold was Janjaweeeed written

The importance of this is like I told you earlier, we owe the future the truth, the way you are going one young 20yr old will think PDP under GEJ were angels doing nothing and APC was just smearing them

Jonathan and Dokpesi did documentaries on Buhari and Tinubu which they got sued for and Dokpesi folded

Tinubu is not complaining about being abused or called names, when you peddle falsehood about people knowingly that is a crime and it's punishable under law.

The 24yr old Mcpilot made a claim about Gaway collecting money for something and now asked to defend himself he folded
