Go to most other states and price of land will remain static for decades.
One new oga from obodo oyibo had the bright idea of selling off sites to raise money.one lag site was x10 the value of all the other sites nationwide combined
The guy has been thinking all sites value matched the monetary value of the lag site I think Ogun state(due to close proximity to Lagos) and Ibadan in Oyo state's real estate market is also growing gradually. Some of the house rent I'm seeing for Ibadan nowadays is quite surprising |

Theflint1: Exactly, and that increase would be by at least 20% every three years. My last increase was by almost 30%.
There's some economics to building a house, but I think generally, it depends on your unique situation. While in our parents' generation (heck even the good old days of 2013-2015), building a house was a pretty reasonable step (more stable jobs and reduced inflation), it's not the same today with less stable jobs, galloping inflation, and way more people braving entrepreneurship, which requires a decent cash flow ( a house generally ties up capital). The bold is what our parents' generation didn't really factor into consideration. Nowadays if u come by 40m and u just use all 40m to buy a decent house and go back to normal day job ; u may end up drinking garri for years inside that decent building. A person who invests that N40m but continues to live in a rented apartment will live a far more satisfying and comfortable life than u. He might end up living a business/investment for his children when he is old, while u will leave behind an old house which ur children may even struggle to pay Land use charge and other government levies on |

Lets even assume my rent doubles, I'm still looking at 25-30 years. Still not worth it. U are an outlier in that data set. Most landlord will increase rent at least once in 3 years; somebody said that's the provisions of tenancy laws but I don't know how true it is. |

like people who go and build house in ikorodu so they can avoid paying rent and then leave house 4am every morning to beat traffic.
the car is the most annoying. i think it comes down to the mentality of nigerians - we buy things not for function/purpose but as status symbols. so rather than think of a car as a tool that allows you to move around faster , it is looked at as a status accessory. A lot of those financial advise our parents passed down to us are now outdated; that's just the truth. Anybody that choose to stick by them will end up not enjoying life and still unable to achieve what some of those parents achieved in their time due to the fact that time and tide has changed |

Itsrm: No, I disagree. It's because they are no longer reliant on getting new bank accounts as they used do.
I remember when it used to be a thing to celebrate bankers who bring in accounts with huge money to the bank. They will send a mail and copy all staff nationwide.
These days, they no longer do it. Bankers still get target to get new customers and they still try as much as they can to meet them. At least they still lambast people who don't meet targets at MPR meetings. What I'm saying is that banks nowadays make money from different channels that were not available to them in the past. Some of the commercial banks have their own fintech like Wema's alat, GTB's squad, etc that competes with other Fintechs as payment solutions which earns them more income. Banks like Accessbank, UBA etc have overseas branches in the UK and other countries. The group does not need to send marketers to come knocking ur door every week like Jehovah witness before they make money nowadays. That's the point I was trying to make. |

germaphobe: I know that once ATM eliminates Inter this conversation is going to start. The thing is that you guys misunderstood jod.era and what he had in mind. Porto have a good attack but you can't compare it to that of Inter, an Inter team that have scored 70 Seria A goals this season, do you need to see how many matches that they've won by 3 or 4 goals difference?, No be only Porto Sabi beat person by 5 goals. The fact that they met resistance from a well organized defense doesn't take away their record. I don't watch the Portuguese league but I have seen Inter play this season countless time to know what I'm saying. Checking their goal record and statistics can easily end this argument but what do I know?. U are the one that thinks because Arteta has scored 70 goals this season it means they can defeat Arsenal while Porto could not. Football is not ABC or 123 and Athletico just proved that point . We defeated a PSV that was also firing on all cylinders till they met us. In fact till date PSV is yet to lose a single league match while Inter has lost one in their respective leagues. The champions league is the champions league. We have beaten Porto to advance to the Quarters and Inter has been unable to jump Athletico pass. Like u posted up there, our players will take the lesson they can from that Porto match and we hope they utilize this against other top opponents we will be meeting in the next round. |

Now they just sit back and make easy money. Banking has evolved beyond what it used to be. The advent of FinTech's, modern microfinance banks and even new & existing commercial banks embracing IT solutions for banking services is why u don't see anybody coming to beg u to open account with them. |

Porto blew away benfica 5-0 in a recent league match o. They even had 2 shots on target while we had 0 in the first leg of our UCL clash . Porto attack is as good as that of any top team. Na our defenders out in shift to make sure they didn't score against us in the second leg. If our defense out in the same shift against any other top team , we would still come out triumphant provided our attackers find a way to put the ball at the back of the net. We are in the quarter final of UCL now and we must face our opponents like our lives depend on it. As for those saying Saka ghosted , if u've ever played football u will understand that there are some matches things won't just go ur way. https://www.instagram.com/reel/C4eFqcMMD1q/?igsh=eGJmaWRhd29peWpi Dem say make baba bring proof , he say make Obasanjo deny am ..... This is why they say it's not every elder u take advise from; fooolish people grow old too. Edited: Onasanjo has even responded to them. The video is a 2020 interview Adebutu man had and Obasanjo already addressed it in same 2020 Adefuye had in an interview with a national daily said among other things, “Some people may argue that what about Obasanjo? Obasanjo is not a Yoruba man. He is an Igbo man from the South-East. His father was from Anambra while his mother was a Yoruba woman. And that was why during his tenure, he completely ignored the South-West. For example, throughout his eight years, he did nothing on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.”
Some Yoruba leaders had in 2007 also alleged that Obasanjo’s biological father was not a Yoruba man.
According to them, his father was Onyekwelu from Onitsha in Anambra State and so, his reign as President between 1999 and 2007 should be viewed as an Igbo reign.
But Obasanjo in the 675-page book described himself as a thorough-bred Yoruba man.
He said, “To be a Nigerian, I have to be born somewhere in Nigeria or be of Nigeria parentage or one must naturalise. If the other can hide their identity, I cannot, because my two parents were from Owu in Abeokuta. And you cannot be more Yoruba than an Owu man as the first child and daughter of Oduduwa, the father of Yorubas was the mother of all Owus. What is more, I bear Owu tribal marks. And better or worse still, I speak English with my Owu dialect.
“I have always maintained and felt proud of my Owuness, Yorubaness and Nigerianess in that order. They are all part of my cherished identity. But I always refused and will always refuse to be constrained, diminished or reduced to the level of Yoruba leadership. Without being immodest, I am a national leader, an African leader and a world leader in my own way.
“If a Yoruba meeting is called on an important issue of concern to the Yorubas and I am invited. I will go but will not sit on the high table unless I joined in convening the meeting. But I would expect that a seat on the high table would be reserved for me if such a meeting is a national meeting.
“There are Yorubas of the mentality that if they cannot permanently rule Nigeria, then Nigeria should be broken up in the euphemism of confederacy. They would rather be rulers in hell, if they cannot be rulers in heaven. They are mainly those who see themselves as heirs apparent to (Chief Obafemi) Awolowo. I neither share their philosophy nor their mindset. Some of them contributed to putting Bola Tinubu in power and in spite of largesse of houses in Victoria Island built for them by Bola; they turned against him when the flow of largesses started to dry up.
“They are the same people who claimed that I denied being a Yoruba man. I am more Yoruba than all of them. The Ijebus among them must be reminded that the Awujale asserted that they are not from Ife, the cradle of Yorubas but from Wadia. Those who are crying more than the bereaved like Olaniwun Ajayi and Femi Okurounmu are self-centered and lack integrity.
“When there was need. In the interest of justices and fairness, to speak or act on behalf of the Yorubas, I have done so but not against overall Nigeria interest or against the interest of any other group for that matter. I have also spoken out or stood up for other groups or communities of the interest of justices and fairness. But on no account will the interest and integrity of Nigeria be sacrificed.”
Obasanjo further said he rejected a request by two senior Yoruba retired soldiers to lead the Western Region out of Nigeria, which would be similar to what the late Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu tried to do for the South-East and failed.
“In the confusion of the post second coup in 1966 and early 1967, I joined the senior Yoruba officers in the military to present our positions to Yakubu Gowon, in the interest of the nation and of the West. When, during the Abacha era and before I was arrested, two senior retired Yoruba officers, a Navy and Army officers called on me at my farm to lead the West out of Nigeria, I did not take it kindly with their request.”
“I said, “God’s judgment in me if I ever do what will be swift and decisive; He would ask those who died as a result of my fighting for the unification of Nigeria to line up and hold one hand and those that will die fighting for the West to secede from Nigeria to line up and hold the other hand and pull me until I will be cut into two.”

On that show though I like it, they sometimes get personal and into personal jokes, its all fun if na only men dey there with with women, there are some social norms that you shouldn't cross. You can say "Thierry you dey intentionally comot shirt to seduce girls, Abi where were you last night you carry woman go house" This whole thing is giving the vibes of female referees officiating male football matches and expecting the male footballers to keep their emotions in check they want to vex for the ref like they would normally the male refs. Like u stated here, on that show they throw alot of jokes around some of which are personal. Last week I watched one of the episodes on which Micah was on the hot seat and he said something along the line of not believing in marriage. Guess what? The next show while Kate was introducing him she actually referenced the whole thing again in a way that would've offended a lady and even some men sef. Yet the guy no para and took it as all jokes. I don't think different standards should be applied to a male or female in such circumstance. |
