Na those one go first dey affected na. All those ones supplying cleaners, office assistants and other contract staff; dem go don adjust their 2024 budget already.
The only item we will miss is Ariel, Vicks and Always. Pampers is almost not existing anymore. The rest are not produced here. How many Nigerians fit afford Original Gillette?
But then, it means a large portion of job loss would happen..Factory workers o ti lo
I really feel for P&G sha
They sold their Agbara factory then and went to Oluyole.
Now, na to turn a whole factory to ordinary warehouse.
Chai!
The job loss will extend beyond factory workers sef; some HR people, Finance and general admin staff will also be retrenched cos they will only need few hands to manage an import-only model. In this kind situation u will have to prove u are valuable to the company before they retain u as an admin staff.
I just hope the supporters at the grassroots level now understand that it is people like Gbajabiamila & his family that this government is favoring. N20billion out of the money we will borrow as country will go to Gbaja's office just like that
Another issue is that these Companies have standards.
I have never seen a Chinese company relocating because of any issue. They would reduce the quality or size, to make up for it.
But these foreign guys must ensure they keep their standard and word.
Yeah, u know the foreign owned companies have a global brand name to protect; they want their product to be same whether u bought it in the UK or Lagos. Nothing concern the Chinese with any brand name.
izzou: P&G have always had it tough in the past 10 years plus. I think this model is best for them
Firstly, Pampers is not existing anymore because Moflix kicked them out of business. Even the Moflix sef is having it hot hot with all these 50 naira diapers.
Na only Always pads dey give dem ROI, and yet, all these local ones don full everywhere.
I support their Import move. The prices of their items cannot survive here at all.
The major issue for those companies switching to import-only business model is the high cost of production. The unavailability of stable electricity is a serious headache for most manufacturers. When they compute the total cost they spend on diesel , the management expense on the production staff and how much they spend on sorting different regulatory agencies like SON, NAFDAC, etc; an import-only business model seem like the way to go.
Michelin & Dunlop adopted the model after relocating production to Ghana with more stable electricity and less corrupt government agencies and from all indications it appears their decisions were the right one.
The funny thing is if Nigeria's electricity supply becomes stable, we won't need to be chasing investors all over the world; they will be begging us to invest in our country. Whichever government that fixes Nigeria's power sector will be regarded as the best ever.
afrodoc2: Funny thing is that I was discussing this with someone yesterday, that our leaders do not have any respect for the populace and do not have any fear of the repercussions of their actions. The impunity is alarming but I guess they have their reasons.
For one, the people are divided by ethnicity and then further divided by religion so they can’t find common ground against the leaders.
Secondly, as long as they keep the military onside they will have the upper hand if things get sticky.
Otherwise a few thousand people shouldn’t be maltreating nearly 200 million people with such callousness and igboya.
I think it's the division along tribal/ethnic line that is the most effective tool used by the political class to keep the people in check. If e set normally, the military/security agencies will be overwhelmed especially if protests/riots are happening in different parts of the country at the same time. There are so many unpoliced / underpoliced places in this country.
afrodoc2: Jimoh Ibrahim has always been a piece of shyte and will forever remain one. If they are talking about people that have no business managing the affairs of the country, out of nearly 200m Nigerians he will make the 1st page.
U know the man so well; he was a complete failure in the corporate world.
Most of the companies he touched usually end up dead after his touch. People like him no supposed dey in position to make decisions in this country.
“ The VP’s house will cost only $15 million . You cannot put people in uncomfortable working conditions “ - Senator Jimoh Ibrahim of APC
Seun reminded him that the rich political class need to be careful with the way they keep pushing the poor to the wall lest they turn back and challenge the rich .
Guess what his response was ? He said Adam Smith said same thing since 18th century and nothing has happened till date 🤦♂️. These people no send anybody
iamoyindamola: We were emotional when ramsdale committed an error against Brentford Ball way no still enter but this alaye mistake is always hurting us We top the most errors leading goals this season
I just saw a video of Ramsdale laughing at Raya’s mistake . See the kind unhealthy rivalry Arteta has caused in the team with how he handled things ?
donjazzet: Well, she's a beautiful person by all standards.
And the most important thing that matters here is her happiness. The main purpose of life is the pursuit of happiness and fulfilment, so if she's happy to live this life, then nothing else matters so far she's not endangering or causing harm to anyone else. IT'S HER LIFE.
Omo see as this post dey smell
Na man wey him name be Daniel he dey refer to as HER o.
Blud doesn’t even know where groin is located in the body 😂.
He just kept slapping the boy’s shin . How groin and hips take reach shin ? I didn’t even see this video before I have long known TB Joshua to be a clown
OkpaNsukkaisBae: Then stop asking for consequence or punishment. U down play the atrocities of d military in d east under the guise of curbing ipob/esn...we can also excuse any consequence & defend d army here & tell u they are curbing d activities of bandits & kidnappers in kaduna
This is why I questioned ur comprehension of the English language .
How is stating the fact the same thing as downplaying atocities of the military ?
It is a fact that innocent miliatry officers , policemen, other security agents and innocent civilians have been killed by IPOB/ESN in the east . This is not even a secret because IPOB/ESN usually come out to take responsibility for the killings .
When the miliatry Guys on ground carry out extra judicial killings they always have an escape route of claiming the victims are majorly IPOB/ESN terrorists .
OkpaNsukkaisBae: If u don't understand. move on. For you, its seems okay and normal if military attack unarmed civilians, burn school and markets cox they want to curb ipob menace.
English is certainly not ur First , second or third language.
DissTroy: This in itself is actually a compliment to the federal government. Asides Buhari's early days of trying to prove a macho point, he didn't mortally haunt his critics. GEJ was same. Tinubu is doing same too - not evidentially hunting his critics, yet.
Since state governments are vindictive bullies when we get in their crosshairs, let's focus all of that angst on the federal government alone.
Erm, how many state governments are paying salaries consistently and the minimum wage too?
There's insecurity? What's the point of security votes to state and LG governments? (Yes, LG governments get security votes (asides FAC allocations) from the federal purse too which governor pocket too.)
Tinubu is captaining this sinking ship but be rest assured his crew members are the governors. And they should get the stick too here and on social media when we criticize government.
Now u get my point. We will always call them out; but hoping their respective supporters will take the criticism in good faith and not turn it to d*ck measuring contest.
DissTroy: If we can't and won't hold state governments accountable, there's no justification to hold the FG accountable. They all share from one national purse. Well, almost all.
The corruption going on at state level is humongous. Which single individual at the national level would have survived the #492 billion fraud scandal by Wike and Fubura? Or the controversial #150 billion loan by Udom Emmanuel (who when exposed went behind to get a lesser loan), or Ifeanyi Okowa getting a controversial #100 billion loan? All three to fund failed presidential ambitions.
They are thieves we must hold responsible. I'm focusing on Niger-Delta states deliberately to drive home the point.
I never said there's anything wrong in holding a governor responsible; what I'm saying is that when u do u will surely see the governors deploying all state apparatus to silent that critical voice. We've seen it happen in different parts of the country. Agba Jalingo was arrested, released and rearrested because he accused Ben Ayade of diverting Cross Rivers state funds
OkpaNsukkaisBae: Same way bandits & bokoharam provides cover for dare devil military personnel. Seeing how they murdered about 36 military personnel in Shiroro local govt, Niger state months ago.
OkpaNsukkaisBae: It has happened in d East many times. U see military attacking civilians, burning down markets & schools. APC zombies defended them.
IPOB/ESN atrocities in the southeast actually provides cover for dare devil military personnel to rain terror on innocent people down there.
Seeing how Dora Akunyili's husband was killed in cold blood on the streets by ESN makes it easy for the military guys to always tag any extra judicial killing they (the military ) carry out as curbing the menace of IPOB/ESN
DissTroy: State governors are the real thieves. Another reason I spent as much time as I do criticising the central government criticising even my own state government.
Since 2018, I've subscribed to monthly and bi-monthly report of my state government allocations and expenditure, and local government allocations by BudgIT. Local governments earn a lot especially in the Niger-Delta, plus extra quarterly payments to oil-producing communities; all controlled by the state governors.
If you know how much your immediate past governor and mine spent on overhead cost (cost of running government), you'd just look amusingly at the antics by Tinubu's COP28 critics (who's also as guilty).
Not forgetting ~#23 billion annual security votes each to Akwa Ibom, Rivers, and Delta States, all unaccounted for.
Hold Governors accountable too.
Sometimes holding governors accountable is not as easy as it seems: In fact holding governors accountable and getting them to do the right thing appears to be a mirage in a country like Nigeria and I will tell u why.
1.State Governors are the least tolerant to criticism amongst the tiers of goverment under the executive arm. For example if a civil servant acts as a whistle blower , the state government will use the civil service rules to fish that person out and mark him for serious disciplinary actions. They may even have him arrested on some trump up charges.
2. If a private citizen calls out the state government; immediately the state government will start looking for one ancient law the citizen had broken in the past; his tax records; status of his building's C of O, etc to get back at him and have him smoked.
For point 1, about 2-3 months ago one LGA chairman in Ogun state called out Gov. Dapo Abiodun for witholding funds belonging to LGA's for years running. Guess what happened afterwards? DSS invited the man, detained him and the man was later impeached by councillors sponsored by the governor he called out. And that's someone in the political circle who knew for a fact that the governor withheld the statutory funds not for a noble reason. The annoying thing is even the people whom he was speaking on their behalf didn't even bat an eyelid to try and stand by him for a second.
Talking about the people, some people even defeded Sanwoolu when Doherty letter made the headlines all through last week. I don't know if that's the juju people always talk about that is in action; cos I just can't wrap my head around normal citizen coming up with defence for financial recklessness of political office holders. Some even turn it to d*ck measuring contest trying to compare what my governor spent to what ur governor spent. smh
izzou: The way the NA is handling what they did in Kaduna in disheartening.
No formal memo on what happened. No press statement
No apology. No visit from the COAS to the community
No heads rolling because of this. No news on compensation.
May God not let me be killed like this.
When I tell people this country is a jungle, they usually think one just likes to dwell on the negatives. Where else will something like that happen and there will be no serious consequence ? Zero value for human life.
Those ones have died just like that and everyone expects their survivors to bury their dead & move on.
izzou: Maybe it is me, but I can hear what Tinubu is saying.
And 1 minute is too small to know if he was saying nonsense or not.
I also understood most of the things he said in the video . He was not just calling the sentences together . U know na like make dem call student wey never too sabi read come front of class to read a literature text .
If u are patient enough enough u will understand what he’s saying .
