GloriousGbola:Adenuga no get any good reputation at all in the corporate world thanks to his former employees. There are wild stories of Adenuga going around even till this day. I've heard a version of how ur encounter with him in the elevator can either get u sacked or promoted.Guy man can just meet u in the elevator, ask if u work there, what department do u work and talk about what u do there. He can either be impressed, ask u to take a walk with him while engaging u further and later have u promoted to a higher role. OR He may have u fired by ur superiors chastising them for employing a wrong fit for job in his organization. |
![]() Abeg make una organize an award before the year runs out and let those two up there battle with Don J and that female moniker for the troll of the year award in this chatroom thread ![]() |
iamoyindamola: ![]() I still subscribed N12,500 for the compact package this November after the international break cos I just don't have any stable alternative for now. That score 80 8 no dey stable during EPL matches, only weekdays during the UCL e dey stable. If person share IPTV level with me wey stable I will ditch the thieving DSTV ![]() |
GloriousGbola:Outsourcing is one terrible thing that happened to the labour market in Nigeria. They now outsource cleaning jobs too; the company u are deployed to thinks they are paying u well for a job that requires only primary 6 certificate, but ur outsourcing primary employer has chunked off as much as 30% of their income as "finder's fee" or a more refined "consultancy fee ". Most times na the humane permanent staff of that company go just dey reason u small cash once in a while based on say u loyal and dey respectful to someone that can even be ur younger brother's mate. |
izzou:At my former place of work, one baba used to work as security guard for the bank(his primary employer) during the day and then work as night guard for the owners of the entire property once it's night time. I learnt from our cleaners that the man's family stays at Gberigbe, Ikorodu. He only goes to see them weekends before u even leave ur house on monday morning he's back on the island. Despite the man's industrious spirit he still struggles to pay his bills. Some of us give him stipends ocassionally just seeing his struggles as a man. (Well, the tips paid off cos he was one of our surest cash plugs during the cash scarcity when he was always helping us arrange cash when they load cash at night when everybody has left work) |
Itsrm:Some companies pay cleaners as much as 50k in Lagos but be rest assured more than half of it will be spent on transportation and feeding daily . If u work in V.I for example , it’s either u are coming from the mainland or all those places after Lekki/Ajah cos ur salary can’t even afford u to pay 5 days rent in V.I |
I don’t know if it’s just me but I noticed the media has been trying so hard to boost the morale of Aston Villa ; skewing stats to portray their invincibility , and making it seem like beating them or not beating beating them will determine the trajectory of our season . |
GloriousGbola:U get ! The stress u face doing one job alone in Nigeria is enough to cut one’s life expectancy short . Talking about menial jobs , There are people who work 6am to 6pm in factories like Wahum at Oba Akran road Ikeja Monday to Saturday for paltry sums. How people like that wan take 3-4 jobs at once ? Even some artisans sef who learn more than one skill , the whole skills are not as rewarding as making them breakeven . An ex-secondary school mate has a bachelors from a university of agriculture , he learnt house painting and tiling both of which he uses to hustle with a little knowledge of plumbing . We still engaged him on a construction project earlier in the year .He does all of those jobs and yet he’s still struggling to make ends meet. Obviously if he goes abroad , holds 3-4 jobs and makes good money somebody up there will refer to him as a lazy bozo while he was in Nigeria . |
Godx:I guess someone who leaves Alagbado for 5am everyday to lekki and comes back 10pm for a sum of N110k per month is also a lazy bozo for holding on to that one job while in Nigeria . Nigeria operates a monthly pay system that will suck out the living light out of u and make it difficult to hold more than one job except in rare cases when ur job is remote or hybrid . If Nigeria was a country that rewards labour , a graduate will not be earning $110 for a whole month in which he has put in at least 160 hours of work and spent almost half of it on transportation . Is it that u people don’t know the actual value of money or it’s just blind and delusional patriotism that makes u say some of these things like the one up there ? |
iamoyindamola:It’s not a case of selling the country or not . N20m is not a money that should make u not to travel to a place like Canada , USA or Austriala if u have an express entry/student visa . I have a close family friend who retired from a private company in his early 50’s around 2018 or thereabouts . I honestly don’t know how much he got as lump sun for retirement benefits , but I know it ran into millions . He tried his hands on some business but he noticed the after effects of the 2016-2017 recession was eating deep into his savings . He was most likely going to face longevity risk ( The risk of outliving one’s income ). Baba follow visiting visa enter America around 2019 having gathered his remaining savings , sold off his business assets to take process japa . Today he has been granted asylum , living a decent life and taking care of his family with his fear of longevity risk gone. N20m is not as much as most people are seeing it on paper today . |
Itsrm:I just weak . If we sit down and do the maths ; like let’s compute how much people attended the past 10 years , the achievements/take homes from each of those years and then compare with that of this year u will realize there’s no justification for the profligacy exhibited by this current government . Sometimes I refrain from engaging in some topics cos e go just dey make me dey vex when I see weak defences people put up for the ruling government and want to use Agidi or gaslighting make the weak defence strong . |
GloriousGbola:Ajaero was also an anomaly and I listened to naija info early in the week when they discussed why was he on the list . Maybe u didn’t hear about Ajaero but I listened to a newspaper review that mentioned him as well. Online u know it’s topics like Toke Makinwa , Dayo Israel and co that will trend cos of their online presence themselves . |
GloriousGbola:Ajaero was definitely on the initial 1.4K delegates , journalists only pointed out the anomalies on the list like Toke Makinwa , Dayo Israel and co . That is what the press is expected to do; shine torchlight on grey areas in governance , put the government on the defensive to defend their decisions convincingly to the citizens . Press is not expected to massage the ego of the government when they are reneging on their own promises . |
GloriousGbola:I will address the bold in particular. There’s no partisan list anywhere. The initial 1.4K list was pulled from the organizer’s website . It was after the initial uproar the government came out to confirm they sponsored almost half of the people on the ridiculously long list of naija delegates . The idea of cherry picking a handful of the popular people on the initial 1.4K and asking me if I believe he or she was sponsored by the FG does not cut it at all. Government has come out to clarify the number of delegates they sponsored in this austere period which is almost 500% of the population that attended the last one when things were still better financially for the country . That Toke Makinwa was sponsored by government or a member of the ruling class as “handbag” is a speculation most people are willing to bet on considering the country we live in . |
GloriousGbola:What is overblown on the COPA28 report ? That the government didn’t fly as much as over 500 people with close to a billion naira ? This government is a government whose actions have not matched their words . Almost everyone has had their income eroded yet the government is engaging in profligacy . It is normal for the public to register their displeasure irrespective of their political leanings. Itsrm did not even vote any of the top political candidates yet he’s within his right to express how the Tinubu government has affected him directly or indirectly . |
liveLongNprospa:Sharia no dey ever get time for that kind matter … |
GloriousGbola:Wetin be this ? Is this government not a wasteful one ? Are we not seeing government officials still getting all the luxury they desire at tax payers’ expense while the common man is expected to adjust ? Shey we no dey see before our own eyes money being spent by government officials like we are in a period of boom while the same government is expecting people to adjust and bear with them in this austere period ? See there’s something called optics and any government that will succeed must learn how to manage optics . If a government wants to tell the people to bear with them while they fix the country ; the government must also show to the people it is willing to make sacrifices . This far Tinubu’s government has not shown that and that’s truth not propaganda or any campaign strategy of Obi . Even people wey vote Kwankwanso dey complain same thing . |
Imagine an Ex-governor going away with as much as 50 vehicles while leaving office 🤦♂️ https://www.instagram.com/reel/C0mV9V-IXkR/?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA== Guess what ? The ex-governor is a current serving minister . |
afrodoc2:The legover is funny, Cucurella's "commot body" run is funny and The arodan is even funnier. I've not heard that word in like over 20 years now. |
izzou:Well, all the answers I gave was in relation to japa. I didn't give my opinion in isolation. |
izzou:Rather what u should ask me is : what is the sum I believe one can have and decide against japa? |
izzou:There's this saying that "To start chaos is easy" (I don't know the original aurthor) I'm not saying N20m will not start any business, If u check my initial post to Whodeyhause I quoted the part he said "invest N20m and "recoup good sums from in the future". Na that good sum/profit in the future I no agree with. So I will use it to address ur post. 1. The scenario I painted about the cement distribution is actually for someone who is a third party carrying products for Dangote. Those ones buy their truck and register under his franchise. Trust me, N20m will not set u up for that business ; I know quite a number of people in that line of business. Except u are referring to those who have shops/depot where would-be customers come around to buy and arrange for transportation by themselves. I don't even think that is really profitable like that. 2. If it's just shawarma , finger foods and barbecue u want to sell in shops, then u don't need N20m at all. 3. Yeah, hire purchase definitely works but u go get soldier, DPO/Area commander, OPC , Ogboni and Babalawo on speed dial to really keep ur debtors in line ![]() |
WhoDeyHause:If u don't do any of those stuff in Lagos, then be rest assured u will even make more loss than u envisiaged. Shey na less commercially viable places like Akure, Auchi, Gombe, Eboyin etc u wan go dey run fast food business ? In ur very eyes it will turn to "slow food " business . Abi shay na those aforementioned places u wan buy land keep ? U will still find ur land value barely appreciated after 10 years if u try it. Even the ecement distribution sef; it's places like Epe, Ibeju in Lagos, Ogun state where massive construction projects are going on u will be supplying. U can also supply to farther states but u will be mindful of the fact that the roads generally are bad, u will be more exposed to accident risk and ur driver can abscond with the vehicle and product even if u put a tracker on it. People wey tell u to use the N20m japa na people wey wan save u from future gnashing of teeth ![]() The inflation in this country no be small thing. If u stock up N20m , u need to be monitring the cost price while u are selling cos u may not even be able to stock up again when u exhaust ur existing stock in trade. |
WhoDeyHause:1. Cement distribution requires u buy at least one Howo Sino truck that doesn't cost less than N35m before the removal of subsidy and floating of naira. U will be compelled to insure the truck by Dangote and insurance will not charge u less than 5% of the value of the truck. If u add N35m to N1.750m that's already N36.750m. Remember u have N20m. 2. Fast food: U will require a space u will pay at least one year rent, renovate the place, equip with modern kitchen wares, ovens, heat extractor, chillers, ice cream machine etc. U will pay tenement rates to the local government, u will pay corporate tax to state government and u will pay for permits to operate ur business without government agencies coming to disturb u frequently. If u are in Lagos, u will also pay for the front of ur premises where customers will be parking. Remember u have 20m to do all these and still pay ur staff salary while u are yet to breakeven in the early days of ur operation. 3. Transportation: Motor parts are very expensive now; If ur vehicle develops major fault it will swallow some of ur money. If u are unfortunate to deal with wicked drivers like Raumdeuter shared his experience that day ; u may even borrow money to clear ur debt after selling the vehicle at a knocked down price when driver show u shege 4. Buying Land: U can buy land worth N20m today and sell it N60m in 4 years yet the N60m would not carry same purchasing power ur N20m today does. Why ? Because of devaluation of naira . I always laugh when those selling land like Adron Homes go on TV or radio shouting that people buy land and keep using that same line. 5. Buying Bet shops: I think Bet shops were profitable around 2012-2017 when online betting was not really a thing. Nowadays almost everybody has bet app on their phones thereby bypassing bet shop owners. Only few unlettered people, artisans or egbon adugbo still go to bet shops. I mean the same set of people u will see in baba Ijebu shops. U might end up selling ur computers cheap due to lack of patronage if u invest money in bet shops in this present day. Except u site it in a major market place or commercial area |
WhoDeyHause:Mention one of those "several businesses" u will invest N20m and "recoup good sums from in the future". I want to check something. |
iamoyindamola:Thank you, this link works. I don dey download am |
iamoyindamola:I can't access the link until 24hours(That's the response I got from google). I am not a fan of documentaries like that sha, I prefer reading true account of history than watching it in documentaries. |
iamoyindamola:Dem no allow download of this particular series on Netflix; I don't know why. I intend to download on netflix and watch over the weekend ni. Oya recommend other ones that make sense, it may even be old ones that I have not watched in the past. Just help me list as many as u remember out, I will check them out. |
UncleHaba22:U mean this thing wey u dey talk ? 9 wins from January to December ?

Instead of Lagos state government to focus on enforcing road wothiness inspection for Trucks, Tankers and Commercial vehicles ; they just put all their focus on private car owners who by default always take good care of their vehicles. Some of those articulated vehicles are not road worthy at all and responsible for most of the road accidents; yet it is private cars they focus on just to drive revenue. |
