to be honest it is the fate of most artistes

short shelf life, surrounded by hangers on - sometimes even your agent and accountant go dey chop you

there is a rap show queens featuring brandy , eve and someone who i forget as artistes past their prime.
i am sure you saw video of bobby brown crashing in one video vixens house

and we have this dramatization of the fall of a rapper from grace

That's what I'm telling Emaprice. Around 2019 Lord Ajasa's wife raised alarm that he was sick, admitted at Ikorodu General Hospital and needed funds so they can take him to a better hospital where he's to undergo surgery for peptic ulcer. Imagine a whole Lord of Ajasa of that year. embarassed

Omo! those egbon really fell on hard times.

I know beating teams with 8, 9 or 10 goals might have a side effect psychologically but Arteta should think of the positive effects too. That was a rubbish second half. I was expecting us to go for more goals.

It will be very very hard as corruption has been institutionalized in the passport office and the officers from oga at the top to cleaner all feel entitled to the money from bribes and fast tracking.

It can be done. Oloyede did it after all. But it will be hard and will require a hands on approach or a really focused team.

Something as simple as online registration will be sabotaged by the team in house.

You will continue to hear network is down. We have to do it offline or locally.
Na why people wey know the extent of rot in the system no go celebrate when the ministers made the pronouncement.

I remember when my former oga went for drivers license capturing and by 10am the FRSC office had people waiting under the excuse that their is no light . Oga called one of the senior officers and asked him if they don't have provision for Gen ni?

FRSC guy told him there's gen but no fuel. Baba gave them 10k and they just switch on the gen immediately without going to get any fuel. They did his capturing first before anybody and he moved. Imagine how much they will be making with that format daily at the FRSC office especially once they see u came down from one black SUV without patience of waiting endlessly for NEPA light.

I grew up in Festac, so a lot of all these guys started from there. I doubt if anyone that grew there in the 90s didn't run into these guys.

Omo digital money changed alot of things. Those guys were unfortunate that during their time it was just radio cassette, video cassette and then video CD's in vogue which Alaba marketers pirated so much leaving those guys to live off shows that weren't a regular occurence like we have now. If dem 2baba no hold their side well, dem for no see chop inside digital money sef.

This December now, the number of concerts alone that will be happening all over the country will make even Q-list artistes some millions; talkless of A-C List artistes.

That's why I can't relate with all these dem blaqbones, yung6ix, etc music nowadays.

I also believe he would've had more appeal than M.I if they had both been of the same generation. I just hope he is doing fine anywhere he is now.

I remember one time I read Tolu maintain got a job in the oil & gas industry hence why he left music; I hope that applies to someone like freestyle too and not just that he's struggling to make ends meet somewhere in Nigeria.

This is why you have to give musicians/artistes with longetivity props

i have read that Madonna is insanely disciplined - to the point she was having fights with her then husband because she was transferring that discipline to their kids. apparently the woman does not go near soda and she did not allow the kids to either
Aswear it's not easy. Even some of us that are not musicians we remember some things we vowed we will never do in life which we are doing now like it's no man's business.

Small soft life dey make person lose focus easily.

Na why I no blame people like Eldee, Baba dee ( sound sultan's elder bro), and the rest of them that relocated and left the entertainment business the moment they taste soft life well well. This is what I noticed myself. His big bro already has money so he was OK playing second fiddle. He no know say dbanl go fall off, and it came unexpectedly real quick.

I really wondered how an established dbanj would fall off easily like that...cos all the connections and "know hows" in promoting songs, he already got that working with donj.

D'prince also rode on his bro coattails, but he took advantage and established his little label which luckily produced mega stars. Now he must be enjoying mad money.

I wonder where switch is now...and what he is doing.
Bro anybody wey no too dey disciplined mentally go surely fall off for Nigerian music scene.

Look at it this way ; all of a sudden u blow up, get shows being booked left right and center , u barely have chance to enter studio to record and, when u enter studio the inspiration to record a massive hit is not there again. Why?

Why? The few free time u have u spend drinking, smoking, carrying different shapes and sizes of women, chilling with fake friends wealth has linked u with, etc. U will find it difficult thinking like u used to think before u had that first hit that blew u up. U no fit relate to some struggles again.

I am one of 9ice's biggest fans out there, I believe the scenario above played out with 9ice and made him fade out of making good music

Kswitch was spitting fire with nice cadence too. Nigerians really no dey wan hear and understand the talent some artistes poses because over here, na beat and chorus dey sell songs.

If kswitch focused in himself and spend time putting out songs, he wouldn't be under rated at all. He was far better than Dr sid
A friend of mine worked with Dbanj's record label after the split as a finance guy.

Dem kayswitch were just contented living in their bro's grace. ( kayswitch is the twin brother of Dotun the OAP's ex wife Taiwo).

If kayswitch had been more industrious he would've gone far than Dprince at least

Harrysong actually blew but just like Wande coal he was unfortunate to be under record label that was focused on pushing his principal's work more than pushing his own quality works to mainstream media.

Yeah, I know. I just find it annoying that almost 9 years after all the people involved are walking freely from Jonathan to Sambo to Koro to Agbele to Fayose etc and the media is rehashing the same story we already.

The case just shows we are a 4cked up country and the judiciary in this country is trash. The judiciary will quickly sentence people like Evans the kidnapper, those who steal Maggi and those who commit murder/manslaughter within months ; but corruption cases will last almost a decade with no headway. It gives a kinda vibe that the judiciary doesn't really care about corruption cases which kills more people than any other crime.

This is an old gist na. Na since Buhari first term we Don know the full details of this transaction. We already know Jonathan released money to Sambo who distributed it to different beneficiaries amongst which is Fayose.

What we are interested in now are those who stole with impunity under Buhari. The humanitarian minister, the minister for aviation, Malami, Accountant General, etc. They should prosecute those ones too with the nemrous evidences which abounds everywhere.

Kswitch is talented. He was never wack. The guy just needed consistency to drop top level songs. His Lyrics were never mid IMO. And he rhymes very well...multisyllables too. And he already got his own style of flows which wasn't bad.

The problem is he was hiding behind Dbanj shadows. He for really focus more on his craft and work towards becoming "the guy". Also Donjazzy was more invested in Dbanj works cos it was bringing in more money, then you talk wande too (whom to me is in top 5 most talented singers ever out of Nigeria).

Dprince really didn't need to go the hip hop route, cos he doesn't have the intelligence for it. If he switched and focused on high life genre, he would excel. His song "Oga titus" had some high life vibe to it and it was very catchy. Anyway, man's have found his main calling in artiste discovery...and he is doing good.
U are right about Dprince being a good highlife artiste. That Oga Titus was one of my favorites too.

But then, Don Jazzy sef Don create better beats for this industry o. I just dey remember how catchy the beats for Oga Titus and the Kick by Wande are . Also, rotate beat sef no bad.
