This is why it's just best to defend Tinubu with your keypad.. Type your jargons and post..You can't come outside to do it and not look stupid..

SeyiLaw mouthing off that Nigeria is safer than it has been for the past ten years and not even up to 24hrs, look at his home state..
Exactly !

It is easier to stay behind the keyboard to be reeling out the so called achievements of Tinubu's administration, but when u are paired on Live TV with a fellow Nigerian living the everyday reality and u try go gaslight him about state of things; u will be gobsmacked as Seyi was on that Podcast/show.

This one no be by say u are a good debater or not. When u claim Nigeria is safer now than it was in past and someone shows u data of Nigerians who got kidnapped this week, last week, last month, last one year and even last three years; u go know say u just dey whine urself.

U claim Inflation is being delt with and someone can show u the price of items like cars and even groceries early 2023 and early 2026 as comparison, u go know say no be everything big grammar and loudmouth dey cover up.

While Seyi was trying to defend the indefensible, monarchs and Christian worshippers are getting kidnapped in his own state due to insecurity his principal has not found a way to deal with yet. It's so bad that it was reported in the news that some LGA chairmen in Katsina have resorted to self help by striking a deal with the terrorists to spare them for an agreed price.

How do you tell people to vote for that same president with enough evidence of his administration's failures?

imho it is mostly just posturing.

it is not as if Adeifa being sued has the capability to pay the money.

it is unlikely that David has the money to pay the lawyer running the case - unless of course na menist association dey back am

the lawyer sef go tire to dey run pro bono case that will run for years with a predictable outcome.

almost all these billion naira suit end on pages on newspaper and are for shock and awe.
Both of them are students , the court process will tire both of them out .

Even if both of them got lawyers who volunteered to stand for each party for free , by the time sitting begins they may end up opting for out of court settlement .

The days the court will be sitting may fall on an exam date for either of the two parties or even both of them sef . They may both be residing on Campus at Ife and the court will sit at Osogbo; they will both transport themselves to the court whether they like it or not .

For the guy who instituted the suit, the frustration of the court process may force him to accept the lady’s apology and discontinue the case . When he does a lot of online fans and well wishers will call him names and may even label him coward , but that time he won’t really send them .

Even if he endures the rigorous court process and gets judgement after all back & forth , the girl will most likely tell the court she’s a student who has no means to raise the N15m damages awarded to the guy by the court .

It’s obvious most people on this thread have not been directly involved in a real court case in Nigeria either at the magistrate court or high court level . grin

Whether you are the plaintiff or the defendant , e get the way court sittings/appearance go tire you , especially when the case gets adjourned from time to time due to one reason or the other .

There’s a reason why most parties in civil suits almost always go for out of court settlement .

We had a real life experience as a family , na me tell my parents to withdraw the case because of the stress and logistics wahala involved in getting justice .

Going to court and getting justice pass make lawyer write letter give your opps say “you have been served “ o. Nigeria no be UK or America o.

The bolded is where I insert one of those corny proverbs attributed to Pete Edochie about changing dance steps.

But isn't that the problem? You, TheFlint1 and Blueraydick think about not going over the top and not assuming the worst of intentions. You think it's playing fair. That if you score your goal like Senegal did, the biased referee wouldn't cancel it. Or the refereee wouldn't award a dodgy penalty call.

You have to do like Senegal – protest loudly, walk out, return...but raise your voice.

This gender game is rigged against us, sirs – wake up!
Wo , nothing concern me with all this una "my gender vs your gender " wahala . May the best team win.

I've already zoned out of the discussion since I shared my personal opinion the very first day and I've moved on.

Yea, that's the obvious reason, and given what's come to be expected in the course of the APC government, it's within reason.

And I dare say Tinubu will never appoint a person for a position if they don't have a skeleton or two in their cupboard.
I don't agree with Ur second paragraph Sha

Theflint1 is claiming Tinubu is an ethnic jingoist, I doubt your examples of Bagudu, Ganduje and Reno supports the ethnic jingoism claims of theflint1

I know theflint1 wont hesitate to accuse Tinubu of any crime under the sun even without evidence
The point is :giving excuse that Tinubu didn't appoint Mba as IGP probably because there are skeletons in his cupboard is very very far fetched.

The simple and obvious reason is Tinubu wants to appoint a senior Yoruba officer whom he is familiar with as IGP and Tunji Disu fits the profile Simple.

Since when did Tinubu start caring about skeleton in any of his choices' cupboard?

I don't know about ethnic jingoism Sha, but most of the presidents have been appointing their kinsmen as key officials in their government. It's not like Tinubu is the first person sef.
European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga)Re: EPL Chatroom - All Discussions by BlueRayDick: 11:28pm On Feb 24

Simple as that, there's no need spinning around it. Tinubu is not the first ethnic jingoist we've had as president, there was Buhari before him, and odds are whoever comes after would be same.

No need spinning conspiracy theories of skeletons in cupboards cheesy
Exactly!

Tinubu wey appoint Ganduje wey skeleton dey inside his babariga grin

Same Tinubu that appointed Bagudu (Abacha's bagman) as minister for budget

Tinubu that has nominated Reno a well known tribalist as ambassador designate.

So there is also a possibility that Frank Mba had some skeletons in his closet
I don't think so.

Tinubu obviously wants a Yoruba IGP most preferably someone he has worked with in the past and Tunji Disu is the most senior Yoruba guy at the police top hierrrachy who fits that profile.

Remember he was once Tinubu's ADC at some point. There's no how Tinubu will appoint Frank Mba over Tunji Disu. It's not about whether Mba has skeleton in his cupboard or not

A better answer to give is that Security challenges are evolving daly and the govt is trying to meet them

In the past some of the security challenges we had were

1. Routine bombings of major centers like UN buiiding under GEJ, Nyanya bombings etc,

2. Attack especially targeting religious places of worship. There was a time under President Jonathan, WOrshippers stopped attending churches, going for vigils and crosover services

3. In the SS there were militancy and kidnapping

4. in the SE there were ESN brutality killing and kidnapping of citizens

5. Regular bandit farmer clashes

Now some of the above we inherited have been reduced .
The bombings by BokoHaram have reduced while we still engage BH and ISWAP terrorists in the Nrtheast,
We have engaged the local communites to secure their environment and this has brought more stability to places like Southern Kaduna that used to be flashpoints of terror in the past,
The SS militancy has ben largely curbed,
in th SE people are now returning to abandoned villages after engaging with the community which resulted in the elimination of the key individuals involved in these insecurity both home and abroad like Nnamdi Kanu who has been jailed, Simon EKpa who was jailed in Finland, Gentle the yahoo who was eliminated by security agents

which now gave rise to other forms of insecurity challenges like Mass kidnapping in places like Zamfara, Niger Kwara etc. We have acknowledged and worked on this which we revamped our security architecture and engaged the US which is actively helping us

There are still challenges out there but I will say more than our predecessors, we have been more proactive in handling them
This is as I expected, dancing around the subject and will be easily countered by that same guy.

Just few weeks ago worshippers were kidnapped from different churches in Kwara and Kaduna state.

Bandits still operate freely in states like NIger, Zamfara, Sokoto, Kebbi and Kwara. In fact, some parts of Sokoto, Zamfara and Niger have literally been conceded to those armed bandits going by the actions and inactions of the state governments.

Few weeks ago it was in the news that some LGA chairmen in Katsina state(not 1, not 2 o) signed peace accord with Bandits. Imagine that!

Then we have Boko Haram capturing and unaliving a Brigadier General of the Nigerian army on camera in addition to several terror attacks they've carried out against our military men

The fact that the Terrorists appeared to be emboldened and now heading down south with their operations in Kogi and Kwara states rubbishes any claim that things have gotten better under Tinubu as far as security is concerned. Tinubu's government led by the NSA is actively negotiating with bandits and terrorists. They not only pay ransom but also agree to releasing some Terrorist in detention as part of a broader deal.

All of this information is out there in the open. Nobody will know all these and agree with your post up there dancing around the issue of how bad the security situation has been. Even Tinubu had to sack his own service chiefs seeing them not making any headway

https://www.nairaland.com/8624078/save-lagosians-lawma-imminent-epidemic

I mentioned this about a Month or two ago; LAWMA/PSP waste collection service has been terribly poor here in Lagos for the past 6 months at least.

The PSP operators hardly come around to collect waste, yet they still charge you same rate as when they do come regularly in the past. By the time they come for next collection, most people's bins will be overflowing with rubbish. Some less patriotic citizens will dump their refuse on road culverts/sidewalks on their way out early in the morning while those of us who can't do such will have no choice but to keep pilling our refuse hoping PSP would come soonest.

It's so bad now that sometimes they only come once a month. What kind of bin do you need to keep in your house that will enable you store one month refuse safely without the risk of an epidemic outbreak? The annoying thing is LAWMA has banned those Wheelbarrow guys from picking people's refuse for a fee. They will arrest them if they are seen on the streets.

So, we are expected to keep our waste for as long as PSP will deem it fit to come around after a very long time.

These are the issues. sad

I agree with what you said, Seyilaw is not a funny comedian to me and He is not a skilled debater. Raising your voice already shows you are losing. This guy Seyi was arguing with, Not to brag, I will take him on easily. Not to talk of someone like Rotus who ever has more facts and stats
Even Rotus will end up dancing around the subjects instead of giving straight answers like the Idris guy did.

Seyi claimed Nigeria is safer than it was prior to Tinubu's ascension. The guy easily debunked that by refrencing an IED attack by terrorist on Nigerian military formation.

Which fact or Stat Rotus wan use to defend that one? Kidnapping for ransom happens almost every week in the northern part of the country. More and more communities are getting sacked by terrorists in Kwara and Kogi states that were not hot bed of terrorism prior to Tinubu's administration. Then we have Boko Haram and ISWAp regrouping in the North East now using drones and other sophisticated weapons. They even destroyed a military aircraft recently; not forgetting bandits having a field day in the North West.

How will even the greatest SPINathropist try to spin that to mean Nigeria is safer ?

Yes our FG gives some Chinese companies contract but that is not the whole story, China is known for underhand tactics are not exactly like the Western companies. A Chinese company after getting those contract will import 100% of the workers that will do the world from China, they have 1.5bn people who are also rugged and can survive and do not have the holdbacks of Western laws

China underhand tactics vs Africas leader lack of care for thir people is a very bad combo. Its like an alliance between a compulsive gamble and an unethical betting agent

You can shame Shell Chevron etc for environmental degradation and bad practices or take them to global bodies for judgment against them, who do you want to take CCECC to? Shey the Chinese wey wipe their own 9k students at Tianamen square go care about 9million in Zamfara Niger or Kebbi
That's why I say our own government is complicit in all these matters. We think some of the low interest loans we get from the Chinese with hidden terms and conditions are the best because of desperate we are for the funds. But when the Chinese start activating the clauses of those loan facilities, we begin to see the effect of those ambiguous terms.

Yet our own corrupt government officials and civil servants are not bothered enough to hold the Chinese companies to accountability for even ordinary staff welfare. They use people anyhow and our own regulatory agencies turn the blind eye. Every time we read about illegal mining being carried out by foreign nationals, but we don't see our security agencies parading these foreigners for their crime.

The first point about Shariah even though is true will be difficult if not impossible to repeal. I am trying to see how it will go without resulting in a major crisis

The second point about the Chinese is so on point. I wonder too why the Chinese operating in the North are free to do anything while you are kidnapping for money people who if you look at them they haven't seen 50k in the last 6months

One of my friend posited that money is not the intention of those kidnappers but to terrorize them so that those villagers can leave their homeland and allow miners to continue inhindered

Cos think am if you need ransom money, does it not make sense to kidnap the expatriates like those Niger Delta militants did in their time
I also think it will be quite difficult to repeal sharia law in northern parts of the country, in fact I have a feeling that if some core northerners are presented with an option of repealing sharia law or keep Nigeria as one indivisble country; they would rather stick sharia law and have the country divided.

What I don't know is how the US government will be able to force the hand of Nigerian government most especially Northern state governments to do away with their blasphemy laws.

But come to think of it, the sharia laws have not really achieved any reasonable result as far as law of natural justice is concerned. It's not like a Sharia court has ever sentenced a corrupt northern politician to jail or have his hands cut off for looting. I can't remember any sharia case that involved anybody above middle class level getting convicted of any serious crime. All you hear is sharia court sentencing poor people to jail, amputation or stoning due to Adultery, blasphemy or prostitution. One can't but wonder why the average northerner would not query why the law only applies to them and not the elites.

As for the Chinese operating unhindered up north, I think some of these things have a link to the loans we've been taking from the Chinese. I think maybe there's an unwritten agreement that allows the Chinese have access to some of our minerals by virtue of those Chinese loans. I don't want to believe our government does not know the Chinese are operating on Nigerian soil mining our natural resources when we have intelligence agencies like NIA and DSS that keep dossier on both Nationals and foreign nationals all over the country.

The US house committee on Christian Persecution in Nigeria Don cook finish

One of their recommendations is the demand for reapeal of Sharia codes and anti-blasphemy laws.

The Chinese Mining activities up north was also fingered as one of the reasons why terrorism continues to fester over there. The US in the report is alleging the Chinese miners pay Fulani militia "protection money" to continue their illegal mining which those ones use to fund their Jihadist agenda.

The US will most likely be selling more American made weapons to Nigeria to counter the influence of the Russians down here going forward.

I am sure some of the educated fundamentalist up north will have a lot to say about this committee report in the coming days

germaphobe:
In the post match interview of Arteta and Gyokeres, you would see exactly what the problem has been all along.
Eze once complained that the tactical aspect of the game is usually overwhelming and Arteta also said then that his lessons learnt was perhaps on the tactical part too.
Yesterday Gyokeres said he is finally understanding his team mates. Which is evident with the runs he made yesterday and the positions he got into yesterday.
Arteta admitted to finally being able to figure out how to use Eze. I believe he should have also figured out how to use the others too.
Our wingers made more inward runs as opposed to always running on the wings. At some point Saka was in the middle while Trossard drifted to the right.
Hincapie gave Trossard the chance to play inwards and influence the game more by overlapping properly.
Mosquera, hmm. Solid performance. Very solid.
After that Rice mistake, he played so much like his life depended on avoiding any mistake. 💪
Raya proved to have forgotten and let behind him the mistake of last week.
That same commitment and energy towards the remaining 10 epl finals and we are sure of celebrating like the did at spursy, but this time with a real trophy.
It was evident all along that Eze gets overwhelmed with the tactical demands of playing in this current Arsenal team. This Arsenal team is not some small Crystal palace where he is allowed to play free role, give the bearest minimum when it comes to tracking back his man and lose ball in critical part of the pitch without any serious consequence.

In this current Arsenal team as much as you have your primary role to play either as an attacker, playmaker, central midfielder or defender; you still have to be tactically aware and cover up not just for your own flaws but for other teammates' when the going gets tough. He really needs to work on his stamina and play with his head 100% in the game. He needs all the self awareness he can get when playing that playmaking role else he will find it difficult to bench Odegaard anytime he is fit.

As regards Gyokeres, I am not surprised he mentioned that he's beginning to understand his team mates better. We all saw the flaw in his positioning and runs which made passes difficult to get to him. And when the passes get to him, the pressure of trying to prove naysayers wrong has been really making him nervous leading to low output for him.

If he continues to make the kind of runs he mad yesterday particularly the one for the second goal which was from Odegaard's one touch pass, I don't see any reason why he shouldn't shine bright in the later part of the season. When he makes runs like that , it makes it very easy for his fellow players to pick him out with the right weighted pass. His first touch for that his first goal is also an improvement from the heavy first touch he's had for most part of the season .
