Shebi MTN get infrastructure and staff even in core BokoHaram and ESN areas. You go structure am say na locals go dey interface with those ones probably get some local security like Tompolo or Nigeria army as security if you need to go there

There is insecurity factor in running a business too. There are some foreign companies going into Sudan Somalia and Afghanistan to do business as we speak. If you have govt guarantees of profit you can chuck it up to business risk

If govt is in your camp they will work out something despite how crazy Sudan Niger and some African countries are where they are practically in a civil war, Russia, China still dey invest and open companies there.
Which government ? The same government that can't prevent a governor's convoy from being attacked by Boko Haram ? Nigerian government cannot even guarantee the security of it's own officials, shey na that one any serious investor go come listen to their soothing and reassuring word of mouth ?

How many US companies do u have situated in places like Borno, Zamfara, Yobe, Katsina, etc ?

If you have govt backup you can make significantly more in a 3rd world country than in a semi organized society.
You can tell a foreign investor he doesn't need to pay tax, the investor also knows he can treat workers like shit, probably doesn't have to go through the standard requirements e.g environmental care, he can flare gas or fumes anyhow, direct waste product anywhere

All these increase his profit significantly and give the local country some benefits

See why some companies like MTN JB etc no gree go. Nigeria is their biggest cash cow and they make a higher margin in Nigeria than they would have made in their home country
Security nko ?

MTN is more of a service provider than producer of physical goods na. Let's look at the manufacturing sector; dem Dunlop, Michellin & co left naija due to unstable power supply which shot up their production cost in Nigeria. Insecurity and the power sector challenge is enough to dissuade any investor from putting clean money into the Nigerian economy

EXPOSED: The Man Lagos Gov’t ‘Paid N2.3m to Supply DPO Pamphlets’ Is a Mechanic — And He Supplied Nothing

On Friday evening, Funso Doherty, the 2023 Lagos governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), published records of Lagos State’s expenditures in Q2 and Q3 of 2023.

Among the records published was a June 16, 2023 payment by Tayo Ayinde, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s chief of staff, to Adebiyi Lateef Adebowale, a 33-year-old Lagos resident, for the replacement of liquid fragrance in Sanwo-Olu’s office.

Ayinde paid Adebowale’s ARC44 Global Enterprises a sum of N7,475,000. He also paid the business the sum of N2,300,000 for “production of telephone directory pamphlet of divisional police officers (DPOs) and emergency response agencies in Lagos State” , according to records released by the Lagos State Public Procurement Agency.

Both payments were made on June 16 to the same business, and both amount to N9,775,000.

On Monday, FIJ visited ARC44 Global Enterprises’ registered address to see what this business was into and find out how Adebowale secured the contract to deliver fragrances and pamphlets.

When FIJ visited the Bariga area of the state, we searched for businesses matching the name the state government paid to, but this effort bore no fruits.

After making our way to 10 Ayoola Lawal Street, we met an aged woman who operated a kiosk in front of the building, but this woman knew no one bearing Adebowale. She also did not know any business called ARC44 Global Enterprises.

We circled round 10A and 10B but got no result. When we returned to the woman in front of her kiosk, she requested a description of the man, and we gave his full name, business name and the contracts the state government paid him for.

“Lati? Na mechanic he be o!” she exclaimed in Pidgin English. “We know am here as Adebiyi Lati. Na very quiet boy. He no de print or sell anything. Na mechanic. Printing press no de here.”

Lati was not home at the time of our visit, as another resident would confirm to us. No one would give us their names or numbers, but they took ours.

In the evening, Lati called us to find out why we were looking for him. In the guise of wanting to order flyers and pamphlets, we asked him if he could produce 1,000 wedding flyers, and if he had supplied pamphlets to police DPOs as claimed on the Lagos State Public Procurement Agency (LASPPA) website.

“I will produce it for you; no problem,” Lati told us when we asked if he could produce for us. When we asked if he produced pamphlets for the police, he said, “Pamphlets for DPOs? No o!”

But the price is not really a serious measure. It's the space.

These areas do not have the space. Na the major headache be that.

The little space they have is outrageous with the sum attached[/color]
That's why I recommended other areas closer to Ikeja like Ogudu, Ojota and Ogba. U will most likely not see any large space unoccupied in that Ikeja axis. Like SPAR don collect the ground floor of Adebola house .Most of the vacant space u will see in Ikeja will be standard office/shop size for premium price.

The picture of the terrible roads in Oyo state that i once posted here are all good roads compared to the ones i saw from other parts of the country. Now, just like you asked, how is our government able to convince foreign investors to invest in this country is something that can't seem to understand.
At times some of those their foreign trip is just to fulfill all righteousness; I know in their heart of hearts they won't be expecting much positive feedbacks.

Most investors will rather take their money to Asian countries with basic amenities in place; they will leverage on their large population for cheap labour and get their capital turnaround in quick time. Even as a Nigerian, I no fit go hustle dollars abroad and then plough into Nigeria where my investment is not safe due to the many factors listed above.

Tinubu should rather rebuild the fundamentals. When his house is on fire, he should mandate the Vice-President, the Minister of Foreign Affairs or other senior official to undertake these foreign assignments while he directs his full attention to fixing Nigeria’s myriad challenges.

The bitter truth is that while its potential remains huge, Nigeria is currently not attractive to foreign investors. Africa’s largest economy is plagued on many fronts, starting with insecurity. From Islamic terrorism to banditry, kidnapping to separatist agitation, and militancy to Fulani herdsmen rapine, robbery, and cultism, and neither its citizens nor investments are safe.

On the eve of his Germany trip, terrorists attacked the motorcade of the Yobe State Governor, Mala Buni, between Maiduguri, Borno State, and Damaturu in which two security agents died. On Wednesday, soldiers invaded the Adamawa State Police Command HQs in Yola, killing an inspector.

Repeatedly, Western governments issue travel alerts to their citizens to refrain from travelling to parts of the country. This is a major impediment to FDI and tourism.

Besides, the economy is struggling with inflation, shabby infrastructure, forex illiquidity, huge debt, shallow electricity output, poor enforcement of the rule of law, and poor ease of doing business[/b].
https://www.nairaland.com/7919885/tinubu-should-rethink-frequent-trips

For a long time I've always wondered what our presidents (both the current one and previous ones) do tell potential investors when they go on their globe-trotting looking for foreign investors.

Like how do u intend to convince an investor (who is looking for where to grow his capital) to come invest in ur country when the country is a mess ? No stable electricity, there's serious security challenge and u expect me to put my money in such country? The rule of law is even a mirage and regulators dey collect bribe up and down.

chicks enjoying the benefits of knacking celebrities then changing the story years later

any randy naija CEOs and ogas at the top should keep their shit outside the office. there will soon be a reckoning in corporate nigeria and we will hear different stories from women who took full advantage of ogas wandering prick

there was one chick who had an affair with our ceo and got a performance bonus of 5m where the rest of us got one month basic bonus. tomoorw the babe can come out and accuse the guy as well - esp if he starts rolling with oyibo venture capitalists
In naija dem go silence such women.

When I say naija is a jungle it's based on some things I've experienced/ some information I'm privy to.

I know someone whose arrest was initiated by a police AIG. Why was he arrested? Simply because he was a middleman in a Yahoo Yahoo scheme that involve a couple of Hundred thousand dollars. U know when u hear Yahoo boys looking for who will help them launder thousands of dollars and u happen to know somebody that know somebody that can get the job done. So, the guy did middleman and somehow the money got stuck midway.

The original Yahoo boys who own the transaction are not even based in Nigeria; they put a call through to an AIG and he initiated the arrest of everybody in the long chain with the sole aim of retrieving the money and having it get to the Yahoo boys. Imagine an AIG making himself available to Yahoo Boys for such clandestine operation.

Now imagine make one big CEO puts a call trough to such AIG to help him shake down a woman who is trying to exploit their past sexual relationship. The AIG will gladly do anything (both legal and illegal) to have the woman silenced forever.

It is a blatant money grab. It is actually a smart scheme.

Accuse any rich man that you have ever had contact with of assaulting you. It is either he is liable and you get paid loads of money or he is not and you don’t get paid loads of cash. Most likely your deal with your lawyers is that they get paid if you get paid.

If the rich man is not found liable, you don’t get punished by the courts and you don’t owe anyone money. You can now channel your new found fame into a social media influencer career.

Another one in a dirty mess, when the prophet say lower your gaze and don't touch e get reasons

Unless there is a camera or witnesses groping 8 years ago is like you against me
Almost dead on arrival
The accuser is suing Mr Foxx for damages, alleging "sexual assault, abuse, assault and battery".

Mr Foxx's representatives did not respond to a BBC request for comment.

The lawsuit alleges the assault occurred at around 01:00 in the morning on 26 August 2015 at Catch NYC after the woman was seated at a table next to Mr Foxx.

The actor appeared intoxicated and agreed to a photo, saying, "sure, baby, anything for you", the lawsuit says.

It adds that he told the woman she had a "supermodel body" and smelled "so good".

He led her to a secluded part of the restaurant and touched her breasts and put his hands in her underwear without her consent, the lawsuit says, adding that the incident ended when her friend came looking for her.
This abroad people no go kill person.

So a woman approaches a clearly drunk celebrity, asks him for a photo which he agrees to, he told her she has a banging body, he took her to one corner where he grabbed her breast and also grabbed her by the pvsssy (credit: Donald Trump), and it all ended when her friend came looking for her.

The news article never talked about her protesting being handled by a drunk Mr. Foxx, the news didn't talk about Mr. Foxx being in the right frame of mind; yet the woman comes back 8 years after claiming damages.

Omo!

If I were to be in Mr. Foxx's shoes, I can pay my lawyers millions to ensure she doesn't get a dime from the lawsuit. I will then sue her for taking advantage of me in my drunken state.
