Actually Boko Haram started as a genuine agitation by Kanuri nationalists to breakaway from Nigeria and reestablish the Kanem Borno. The Lakurawa was started by copy cat Fulani who want the Fulani to be armed just because the Kanuri are armed. It started under Buhari. Maitatsine was an extremist sect that were similar to Boko Haram in its infancy. They were nipped in the bud and couldn't grow beyond Nigeria and Cameroun in their militancy.

When Boko Haram was in its infancy there were accusations and counter accustions amongst some politicians particularly in Borno about one or two people being terrorism sponsors. I think Ali Modu Sheriff was mentioned at some point. And then we have Kabiru Sokoto and Shetimma connection.

Remember Kabiru Sokoto was a Boko Haram member who master minded Christmas day bombing of a Catholic church in Niger state in December 2011. Kabiru Sokoto was arrested early 2012 but later escaped custody. He was later rearrested at Borno state governor's lodge in Abuja while Shetimma was Borno governor.

I strongly believe there's no way a military government in power would allow people like Ali Modu Sheriff and Shetimma to continue to be free men even on mere allegations of their names mentioned in counter accusations of terrorism sponsorship. We all know how military governments can be, they will first lock you up before anything. Even all those hostage negotiations we've been seeing governors and LGA chairmen do in the north, I doubt anything of such will happen under the watch of a military government.

All the nonsense basket mouth talk Gumi has been doing , he would've long been locked up under a military government. I think it was in Burkina Faso or so, that a radical Islamic cleric was recently arrested for his extremist views. When the cleric's supporters heard of his arrest, they decided to protest against the government, they were equally arrested . Last week I saw content creator's video online who claimed the government is planning to conscript those supporters of the cleric into the army and they will be deployed to the frontlines to fight against terrorists so they can appreciate what the military is doing to keep them safe from terrorists( I don't know how true this is tho)

At no point did she name names - just said the army said we should pay money. If you are going to call people out then you should at the minimum name the location, time, venue where the incident occurred.

It's not an interview or podcast where she will first give her biodata before she starts answering questions na. She posted the video on her social media page and a blogger picked it up from there.

I have heard of a situation why officials of ministry of finance in this Lagos state extort family of a deceased to the tune of almost a million naira naira before his death benefits was paid. So my first instinct is not to doubt the lady's story one bit. My best guess is she and her family may be facing extortion by some corrupt senior officers in the army and she coming online is the only way to have the gray lines cleared in the public space......

If indeed she's chasing clout, shame on her!

DSS has alerted Edo State government of potential mass kidnap of school children by Fulani terrorists.

When Elder talks about not really understanding the rationale behind young men still joining the army, it looks as if he's denigrating the memories of those young men fighting on the front lines to keep us safe.

The lady in the video below came online to reveal her brother recently died in active combat as a soldier and the army authorities are asking their family to pay N2m as cost of transporting his corpse to the family compound where they intend to bury him. To think their father was also a soldier before he died. And now they are being treated this way

I mean why will my father be a soldier and I will still join Nigerian army in its current state? From the environment of their home, it even shows their father didn't make much from his career as a soldier, so why did the son also join the job only to lose his life in such tragic way?

I guess partly is because they shouldn't be on the road in the first place hence they need make some form of concession so they don't feel like they're the completely reprehensible characters they are...these concessions ends up creating a loophole for criminals.

Most times when I'm driving alone, once police stop me at checkpoint and they see baby car seat at the back seat they will greet me , ask "how is the baby? " and then ask me "anything for the boys? ". I just give them anything I have (be it N500 or N1000) and they will wave me to carry on.

I always have this thought :What if I'm a criminal who has dangerous weapons or even human body in my car trunk , but I disguised with that baby car seat? Is that how they will collect roger and allow me pass without doing normal police work of searching the car?

Except the State is arguing it is the responsibility of the home owner to verify/ complete a background check of the renter before leasing/ renting the space.

They are doing that because they know how terrible Nigerian legal/judicial system is.

The Landlord can actually sue with the case lasting at least 4 years in court. When the judge eventually pronounces judgment for the Landlord to be compensated to the tune of millions, the state government may still spend years and not pay the compensation/damages.

I remember the late Yoruba actor; Baba Suwe who was arrested by NDLEA on suspicion of drug trafficking at the airport. He was given laxative which was to make him stool the alleged drugs in his system after being detained for hours. Eventually he never stooled any drug and there was no evidence he was trafficking drugs.

He later sued the NDLEA for the embarrassment and defamation of Character. The case lasted years and he was eventually awarded about N1m by the court which is to be paid by NDLEA. Years after the case when the actor was deceased, it was discovered that he had not received the compensation before his death.

It means it is one thing to win a government agency in court and it is another thing for them to pay you as directed by the law court. Na why most people no dey bother sue government for this country.

Is it because of it's duplicity? Like Blueraydick said, I have also met academic intellectuals and professionals who do not believe in Christianity nor Islam but actively practice a form of traditional religion.

African traditional religion being synonymous with rituals, superstitious beliefs and being treated as a secret cult has made it difficult for people to identify with ATR in public over time.

I remember as far back as 14/15 years ago while in the university I had friends who were practicing ATR by worshipping Ogun, Eshu and the likes, but they still identify with either Islam or Christianity in public. Some of them even have masquerades belonging to their ancestral lineage which they even "carry" and celebrate with feast during its season. Because they don't want people to see them as ritualists, they end up identifying with either Christianity or Islam in public.

I have seen situations where Landlords try not to rent house out to Yahoo boys , but the yahoo boys build a fake profile about having a legit job and the landlord has no choice but to rent the house out to them. Now imagine EFCC raiding those guys and EFCC suddenly deciding to demolish the house because they feel the landlord is complicit....It's just unfair.

That being said, I don't know if it's just me but this demolition of the building feels like getting rid of evidence . There are rumors that some party and campaign materials belonging to Adelabu's political opps were found in that house . Why demolish the building instead of allowing forensic investigation into the whole kidnap saga?
