GloriousGbola:Don't u think Nigerian government showing efforts at fighting terrorism, naming & shaming terrorism financiers and prosecuting terrorists arrested would be more beneficial to Nigerians instead of spending as much as $9m of tax payers money to hire an American lobbying firm? Let's not forget that the Nigerian firm that hired the American lobbying firm on behalf of NSA will also be paid hundreds of millions for their "serices" So what is now the difference between this current government and the past one? They are currently hounding Malami for hiring international lawyers for ridiculous amount of dollars in processing refund of Abacha's loot. Then we have this government doing what they are doing with this American lobbying firm. Na wa o |
GloriousGbola:So they have to waste $9million of tax payers' funds just to inform America they have plans to fight Jihadists? Na wa o. They refused to name Terrorism sponsors , we have not seen much prosecution efforts from FG to terrorists and we have state governments busy negotiating with terrorists. They should take action instead of wasting tax payers money on lobbying |
iamoyindamola:I've lost interest in the series jare. I'm currently watching The 100 on Prime. I watched it way back but I stopped at season 3, I'm now on season 6 (It has 7 seasons) Of late I've been enjoying Prime. I just wish other platforms like HBO, peacock, AppleTV etc were available for easy sub in Naija and at reasonable cost; one would not need to be doing unnecessary download up and down. |
afrodoc2: ![]() She must be wondering how u survived all of that and still managed to keep ur sanity to become what u are today. In 2024 I was in PH, on the way from the airport we were in a convoy with one German and one American national who are expat consultants to our company. The coaster bus we were in was bulletproof o and we had one hilux full of armed soldiers as lead escort while another hilux filled with armed Mobile police officers was following closely behind us. Despite the level of security, the moment our driver observed the bus was giving him funny signs and he parked, come and see the way those expats were jittery. Seems they've been told how kidnapping is rampant in Nigeria particularly in the Niger Delta. You could clearly see the horror on their face right from the moment the driver stopped to check the vehicle till we continued our journey. We the Nigerians in the bus were not even bothered because we know nobody is coming to face that much security detail in a gun duel but the white guys were not calm at all. Some of those negative news always keep foreign nationals on their toes while in Nigeria. |
afrodoc2:Obligatory! It seems almost everyone expects u to inflate project costs and pay kickbacks the moment you get a contract from any government ministry/department/agency. It seems everyone has accepted it to be the way to go |
PDPGuy:Meanwhile, Godswill Akpabio stadium that was built in Akwa Ibom between 2012 and 2014 cost $96 million despite our own stadium being completed 12 years earlier and our own stadium having 30k capacity while the Moroccan stadium has 69k capacity 🤦♂️. Some people must have made mad-ass money from that Akwa Ibom stadium that can't even stand toe to toe with the Moroccan stadium. |
GloriousGbola:This is not true at all. The regular policemen, MOPOL and SPU are majorly the ones attached to VIPS. It's mostly banks, some companies and few private individuals that use SPY police as drivers/orderlies. The real VIPS use regular policemen, that's why u see them lamenting since the order came out. |
izzou:supernumerary Policemen otherwise known as SPY police are just private individuals trained by the supernumerary police unit for specific security roles and protection of high ranking officials and or organizations. Their job is to Complement the services of regular police officers Their uniform is slightly different from the regular police officers. It is the supernumerary police unit that trains SPY police and in charge of posting them to ministries, departments, multinationals, banks and other private organizations |
OkpaNsukkaisBae:You have left October 7 and jumped to post-October 7 still u are avoiding the main point. If u don't hate Israel why did u celebrate murder of innocent Israeli citizens ? Is that part of preaching multi-polarity world ? |
GloriousGbola:It is what it is. |
OkpaNsukkaisBae:This is beside the point. You claim you don't hate Israel but I doubt that is true. Why? Because you rejoiced when October 7 happened. October 7 was Jihadist slaughtering defenseless Israeli citizens and you actually took delight in that massacre. |
OkpaNsukkaisBae:Are you sure about this? Your posts in the past literally read as though u rejoice when these two countries either have planes falling off their sky (In the case of America) or when their citizens get massacred by Jihadist (As in the case of Israel in the wake of October 7). |
timbros: ![]() Patriotic kor, platonic ni. I watch football my own entertainment and Arsenal v Chelsea offers more entertainment value than Nigeria vs Morocco. I will watch Nigeria match's replay later jor. |
izzou:I don't think that's the only crime happening there o. There have been instances where dead body has been found on the bridge without any indication that it was a road accident which suggest such corpse are dropped there. Away from crime, the CCTV can aid prompt emergency response to accidents on the bridge . I think that is something that makes the CCTV installation reasonable. The cost may be over-inflated as typical of most government awarded contracts, but I think the CCTV installation is actually needed on the bridge. |
GloriousGbola:Exactly. |
GloriousGbola:lolz. U dey try calculate contract sum disbursed by government through ministry ? ![]() Just dey play! Majority of the contract sum goes for settling different persons of interest from the civil servants at the ministry to even the minister and Perm secs overseeing the ministry that awarded the contract. |
izzou:Well, to the best of my knowledge the CCTV is required to monitor and control crime on the bridge. You know how vehicles breakdown on the bridge and hoodlums just swarm the vehicle occupants with the aim of either forcefully obtaining cash from them or outrightly rob them. I want to believe the CCTV will be manned and security agents will be close by to intervene when such incidents occur going forward. I also think the presence of monitoring officers in the CCTV control room will aid fast response to accident scene on the bridge going forward. All of these assumptions is hoping the CCTV will be used like they ought and not that it was just an avenue to take out money from the treasury. That being said, I agree other major highways across the country also need this CCTV to combat crime along the highways. |
@izzou they said the cost of the CCTV is N2.5billion and not N40billion that was earlier reported. https://www.nairaland.com/8598058/third-mainland-bridge-surveillance-cost To think that one stewpiid BATist was actually defending the N40 billion cost on front page yesterday and was busy insulting anybody who pointed out how ridiculous the N40 billion price tag for only CCTV surveillance sounded to sane minds. |
popizaino:I will definitely be watching Arsenal's match ahead of Nigeria's. |
KingTom:Awujale say na Wadai una come from in Sudan ![]() |
izzou:Na super cash out sef. Thw first and only time I've been to the neuropsychatry hospital in Yaba(Yaba left) was when I was in either 300l or 400l when we offered a course that required us going to different levels of hospital ( primary Healthcare centers, general hospital, tertiary hospitals/teaching hospitals, specialized hospitals like Yaba left, etc) to carry out some findings/research. It was while within the premises of Yaba left I saw at close range what harm drug abuse has done to individuals and their families. No be small thing at all. Some parents bundle their kids down there and spend serious amount of money to rehabilitate them. |
KingTom:I was having this discussion with a friend recently ; while we were much younger smoking marijuana was something people go as gra away as possible from home to do because of the shame/stigma associated with it. There are some "Ẹlẹ́gbon" that we didn't know dem dey kpoli until we saw them at a football field very far away from home litting their smoke with some other senior men where they were damn sure no known person can see them. It's either they smoke in such far away football field or they look for an uncompleted building that is very far away from home to do their thing. Nowadays you see kids that are barely out of secondary school blowing trees in broad daylight on the streets. You see smoking on TikTok Live, they smoke at open parties and even beside people's windows without fear of the people in the neighborhood reporting. Funnily if you decide to report them because you feel it's not right for them to be smoking weed openly like that, they will label u a snitch. And to now think it's even all those synthetic weed cultured in labs they smoke that can easily damage their brain. It just gives a creep that in years to come, only few young adults may be sane enough to be called elders |
https://x.com/thembuotidem/status/2010675248522207310?s=46 My old man once mentioned this place. I think an article was written about the island back then In Guardian newspapers or so

These northern governors are not really serious about combating terrorism and banditary. After the FG has already declared act of banditary as terrorism, here is Katsina state governor agreeing to a so-called "peace deal" to release 70 bandits back into the system just like that. https://www.nairaland.com/8597323/katsina-governor-release-70-bandits Bandits that kidnapped, injured and killed law abiding citizens, those are the same people they are releasing back into the society under yeye peace deal arrangement. They eat security votes from FG, turn back to claim FG did not do enough to protect their citizens and then proceed to be negotiating with terrorists. Na wa o |
Alonso Don collect sack letter? That was fast! |
raumdeuter:Yeah, apparently we didn't have great RBs that's why they thought of fixing calamity Yobo there sha. |
MorataFC:Joseph Yobo na dirty ! |
iamoyindamola:Omo ! E shock me, he's dropping lamba as if the people he's addressing are very dumb. For this age and time make person dey claim say ring na biometric fingerprint that will allow somebody enter a foreign country ![]() |
iamoyindamola:Until then...bringing him in would not make sense |
I no know say Alfas too dey drop lamba like this o ![]()
|
iamoyindamola:Guehi coming next season doesn't change anything. If Gabriel Saliba are not leaving anytime soon, then it's certain Guehi will be coming to seat on the bench and only hope to play when either of them is injured or in ocassional cup matches when they are rested. Guehi is at the peak of his footballing career, so I doubt if he will settle for that when he can go to Loserpool where they can guarantee him starting shirt or Barca (if they are nkt broke again). Make dem focus on strengthening other more important departments where we are light instead of brining in a player that may not be happy on the bench whether he's signed for free or not. |
izzou:The annoying thing is how Dave Umahi will call criminally inflated figures as cost for a project and he will boastfully be using English to defend it. Imagine Ekiti state government's 2026 budget is 415 billion and Dave Umahi get mind to say FG used 40 billion ( close to 10% of Ekiti budget) to fix only CCTV on third mainland bridge 🤦♂️ Shebi if they even want to do projects in Lagos because it is the president's state they should at least call reasonable figures nit this kind fugure that clearly shows intention to fleece tax payers of their funds. |
