You need to know that Muslims support Boko haram.
Boko haram and their counterparts in middle east are Muslim organizations. You will never see Muslims declare fatwa on Jihadist terrorist group because they are mandated to always support Muslims. That's what Sheecow's mother just hinted in the interview.
They are all terrorist and terrorist sympathizers.
You are very ignorant.

The Muslims in Borno became sympathetic toward Boko Haram because of the extrajudicial killings of the Nigerian military. It is the same thing that happens when victims of police brutality don't feel any pity when a policeman is killed.

I remember when Juliet Ibrahim started. She was so whack in acting.

Whether you think im hating or not ...na your problem.

Juliet majorly got roles in Ghana due to her Skin colour and beauty. Because many of the Ghana-lebanese halfcasts were high on demand and it was easier for them to get roles.

But well, i can say she has improved. So she has no right to judge Nkechi.

Shift abeg
I didn't see Juliet judging here. Yes, Juliet is a bad actress but so are the others.

So Juliet Ibrahim knows these acting tips, but still cannot act to save her life. It's these lazy movie producers I blame for putting everybody on screen.. The other day alex ekubo was a special guest at a film school, what on earth can he teach the students. We too like mediocrity for this country..
All of them are overrated.

However, I think this is not the issue at hand. Juliet was unjustly insulted and that is what we should all be condemning.

Nollywood needs to perfect her act. How can you keep slapping someone 'till you get the degree of slap you want? What of other effects that aids and makes act real? I have watched Hollywood do worse daring things behind the scene and were made easy.

Juliet sef! There's a degree of slap that'll make you loose focus.
It is not a Nollywood thing. It is a director's thing. The director calls the shot. Some directors want the real thing and some would just want the effect if they can't get the real thing done properly.
CelebritiesRe: Juliet Ibrahim Blasts Nkechi Blessing Sunday For Calling Her An Idiot by BluntBoy(m): 8:45am On Jun 15, 2018
It is not hard to tell the type of girl that Nkechi girl is. A village girl who is rude and mannerless.

I didn't see anything wrong in what Juliet wrote to warrant such an insult. Why would someone just rush to call another person an "idiot".

The director of the movie involving this mannerless Nkechi should remove her from location and get another actress. Clearly, the girl is never going to go far with such an attitude.

Quit name-dropping and do the needful. That shouldnt be too difficult...

Apples and oranges...The Nobel Prize clearly adjudged by Europeans nay Swedish Academy for their chosen/favourite recipients and The African Player of the Year....more or less determined by voting.

Ogbeni, when would you grow up?
My point is we can argue about Okocha's loss because the shortlist was made public. But it is hard to verify that in what particular year Achebe could have been snubbed. At least, to prove that politics was played, we have to look at the 10 years in which Achebe would likely have won it. Who could he have beaten or who gained from Achebe's snub. Definitely not any of the names I mentioned.

In summary, you can't prove that Achebe was snubbed. The few controversial winners couldn't have been picked in place of Achebe because as at mid 2000s, Achebe had virtually stopped publishing anything. Prior to the publication of his memoir, he had last published in 1988. Prior to 1986 when the Prize was opened to the world to erase the Eurocentric tag, Achebe had last published in 1966.

Nobel Prize is not awarded based on the strength of one book. You can't have stopped publishing in 1966 and expect to win the 1980-1990 Prizes.

My brother, this argument is very unnecessary.

My brother, you are in no position to judge questions. You were not smart with your assertion. Was it William Golding or Saul Bellow or Wole Soyinka or Nadine Gordimer or Naguib Mahfouz or JM Coatzee or Toni Morrison?

At least, we can argue that Okocha should have won the 1998 African Player of the Year. But you, you go about talking trash but yet to make verification becomes a difficulty. Even to mention the establishment you earlier accused of politicking becomes a problem.

Stop all these bogus claims. So making an unfounded claim that Achebe's Nobel Prize snub is political is a demonstration from a man of lettershuh Dividing Achebe's corpus into major and minor works is a demonstration from a man of letters?

First, you claim to be a literary critic and now a man of letters. Bro, you obviously are suffering from delusion of grandeur.

PoliticsRe: June 12: Tinubu, Fayemi Rejected Renaming Of UNILAG After Abiola (Throwback) by BluntBoy(m): 10:03am On Jun 14, 2018
DoTheNeedful:
Even from these statements, we know those who have hatred for others. Can't you people just be free-minded? This is politics and democracy. The preference for someone should not be seen as hatred for another. MKO lost in the East and our Igbo brothers voted for a Northerner in 1993 yet I have not seen anyone say that the Igbos hate Abiola. It is politics and it is democracy. We are not obliged to see things the same way.

The same Yorubas that you claim hated GEJ were at the forefront fighting for his right against the Northern powers. They even voted for him in 2011 and also rigged in his favor. However, 4 years later they felt he had not done enough for their region.Even at that, in 2015, GEJ still had around 42% of SWern votes which shows many still wanted him. GEJ also made some bad decisions such as undermining OBJ in PDP and releasing Major Al Mustapha who many Yorubas feel was a villain in MKO's saga.

On renaming Unilag after MKO, I will salute GEJ on that but it is extremely difficult to rename schools like Unilag, UNN and UI after anyone at this point. ABU was easier to rename after Ahmadu Bello because the school was still in its infancy when it was renamed. Many Yoruba graduates of OAU still do not like the idea of renaming the school after Awolowo although most like Awolowo himself. GEJ did not do proper consultations before he tried renaming the school. The students and alumni of the school did not like the idea. I don't think people will be silent if UNN is named after GEJ tomorrow.

Making June 12 a national holiday is by far more dignifying in my opinion. Also the official recognition of Abiola as the winner is soothing.

Our Eastern brothers should be more liberal in the way they see things and stop seeing things from the prism of hatred.
Well-said, bro.

I don't know why people continue to see this thing as a Yoruba thing.

I can't understand how somebody will just wake up and decide to make a decision that would impact a lot of lives negatively. I had a lecturer whom we called Baba Ike during my master's program. The man is an alumnus of Obafemi Awolowo University. Whenever the man referred to OAU, he always called it University of Ife and refused to call it OAU. That is how strong the bond is. I can't understand why these tribalists keep on seeing the rejection of GEJ's gift as hatred of Yoruba for GEJ. Unilag has alumni from all parts of the country and I can bet that none of them liked the change. The name "Unilag" alone drives thousands of prospective candidates to choose the school as first choice. Why would anyone just wake up one day and rename such a university. It is like renaming University of Nigeria Nsukka to Nnamdi Kanu University. I am sure even sympathizers of Kanu who are alumni of the university will reject such a gift.
PoliticsRe: June 12: Tinubu, Fayemi Rejected Renaming Of UNILAG After Abiola (Throwback) by BluntBoy(m): 9:46am On Jun 14, 2018
How can people be comparing Buhari's fitting honor of Abiola with the stupid move of GEJ?

When Babangida decided to "honor" Awolowo by renaming University of Ife to Obafemi Awolowo University, there were protests led by notable people such as Wole Soyinka who was a lecturer in the University of Ife at the time. The renaming only succeeded because it happened under military rule where there was little regard for human rights.

The rejection of GEJ's gift was not only a Yoruba thing. There are many alumni of the school (Igbo, Hausa's, Yorubas, Efiks, Ibiobios, etcetera) who vehemently rejected the offer.

What is even the need to change the name of a popular brand when it is not like the brand had failed? GEJ didn't think that well at all. He could have done what Buhari did. Enough of renaming already well established universities. If I can remember well, GEJ created nine Federal universities. Why didn't he name one of them after MKO and let the university grow with the name?

I can't even imagine any useless government trying to rename my Alma mater, University of Ibadan. I will reject such gift even if it is to be renamed after my father.

I watched the friendlies of all the five African flag bearers. There is something that appears to be peculiar to African teams and evident in these five African teams and that is profligacy. We cover a lot of distance with nothing to show for it. The most painful one was Senegal vs Croatia. Senegal could have easily gone 10 goals up after they scored but it was not the case as Croatia would equalize and go on to win the match 2-1.

In 2014, Algeria vs Germany and Nigeria vs France come to mind. All that pressing and running and yet the loss. Relaxing after scoring must be discouraged. Victory only comes at the blast of the final whistle. We cannot afford to be wasteful.

Gunning for Ngugi wa Thiong'O is purely based on sentiments (as many of you do for Achebe), I wouldn't be so bitter as to start spreading beer parlor gossips about politics if Ngugi fails.
