Romance / Finding A Partner Is More Difficult Than I Assume by bluskyee: 10:35pm On Jun 30, 2019 |
At the inception of 2018 I thought my pre wedding photos will be on the front page of NL (with a new moniker )but it seems I am a bit mistaken. Looking forward to meeting a partner is turning to a full time job ( or maybe is not, perhaps I am over thinking or ... ) I am thinking perhaps my transfer is the main cause but I am 2years here already. I know say I done cast well but is just funny, really funny. I am not looking for advice pls, I am only thinking out loud with the aid of Budweiser, hoping to read this when I start thinking again. At least I won't have to think again. If you happen to be in this category you can share your thought ( guys only) 5 Likes |

Culture / Osu, Ume: All You Need To Know. by bluskyee: 9:16pm On Jul 18, 2018 |
I saw a thread about abolishing "Osu" in certain parts of Igbo land and I will say it is a good development. There should not be segregation among people. What is an ume and who are these osus? and how do they come to live amongst us? "A nairalander said they were idol worshippers and did not embrace Christianity on time" that is false. In the beginning there was no Osu. The Igbo communities existed and they were predominantly pagans. Many pagan societies offered sacrifices when hardship befell them (Aztecs ET Al) for the Igbos, it was "Death". When a family experienced death on a large scale, they resolved to making human sacrifices. The sacrifice, will require them to go to very far places oftentimes slave markets. (At these point know that the people bought for the sacrifice do not speak Igbo). There was zero communication between the slave and the master the slave were usually brought from Benin and Lagos. The slaves are usually bonded and taken to the shrine. Their heads are shaved and a blood covenant is established between the slave and the shrine. Few days after the sacrifice, the slave is taken back from the shrine to the home of the master. The master will give the slave a piece of farmland and a hut to effect his building. (The building is usually located at the front of the slave masters house). The sacrificed slave is immediately forced to marry another sacrificed slave so that they can start rapid reproduction. They and their children are what the Igbos tagged Osu. This is done with the belief that when next the spirit of death comes, it will pick the Osu's and their children and leave out the slave master and his family. This practice continued until slave trade was abolished. And the Igbos were faced with the ultimate question "What do we do with these people"? Then came religion and Christianity. A wise Igbo man once said "Originally we don't know where they came from but the are now part of us" For the "Ume", these were formally normal people that willfully or mistakenly practiced inbreeding. For instance a father sleeping with daughter or a brother sleeping with a sister. If this barbaric act produces an offspring, that family is tagged Ume. The Igbo culture and even Christianity frowns against these. In all, these are the two sets of outcasts you will find in Igboland. But sincerely I can't have my children marry an Osu or an Ume... Neither will I. But I will support the abolishment of such stigmatization. But will not enter into marriage with such. I trust you learned something.... 5 Likes |

Family / Re: Are Young Americans Anti-Marriage? by bluskyee: 4:15am On May 06, 2017 |
For those saying the Men maybe left behind, I laugh in Spanish. My dad called me just last week to tell me that my Grand Papa wants to get another wife . A 79 year old. The man is never behind no matter how you re-arrange. Back to the subject, there are a lot of distractions for young people now than any other time in history. I spent a full week (work leave) indoors without seeing sunlight, let alone saying hi to my neighbours. There are so many fascinating and enchanting activities other than getting Married. As a guy, I have no reason to get married. Not now or later. A few minutes on Badoo, I get a hook-up, she spends 2-3 days and I am back to default mode. My mum calls occasionally to talk me into future plans and I had to warn her sternly. Why would I want to get married, when single-hood is the best thing to ever happen to Mankind. You can get a lady come spend weeks with you, without you marrying her, yet you have your space, your time and good sex. Companionship is as free as air. Please let us say NO to Marriage. Marriage is a huge scam. Science and Tech, is doing a good job trust me!!! 1 Like |

pitbully:From experience. BAT only picks one from commercial and one from Engineering making two...Cadbury takes less than 6 (not yearly oo). Most manufacturing companies in Nigeria likes experience hire and when they want to recruit for management team (Senior staff) they prefer masters. Don't forget there are smart junior staff workers who are eyeing this position and they have good recommendations from the shift manager...I have worked with an FMCG...you can do further research on NL check how most manufacturing companies employ and see the numbers that got offer letter oftentimes non... silentdude: |

I always felt surprised when my dad said he was hungry. Obviously he had a big stomach. What could make the stomach big if not food. I wondered all day....i argued till I was 13yrs old that women gave birth via Anus.....i thought travelling to the village will make me stronger because I will get the opportunity to eat akpu...I believed "when you get to abuja and you walked past three upstairs then you have just entered london" as told by my friend...."In America the floor is made of money, people seldom picked it because it was probably dirty" that thought was inspired by my neighbours kompressor Benz when he strolled in from US....aaahhhhh......... 61 Likes 2 Shares |
