Politics › BREAKING: Nnamdi Kanu Orders Simon Ekpa To End Sit-at-home In Southeast by Bobloco(op): 6:25pm On Jul 28, 2023 |
The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, has directed Finland-based Biafra agitator, Simon Ekpa to end all sit-at-home in the Southeast. Kanu also directed Ekpa to stop antagonising governors of the southeast or politicians from the region. He warned that anyone enforcing sit-at-home in the southeast is not his disciple and should be made to face the wrath of the law. The IPOB leader issued the directive in a message to Ekpa, which was made public on Friday by his Special Counsel, Aloy Ejimakor. Addressing journalists in Enugu, Ejimakor quoted Kanu as saying: “Simon, this is a direct order from me. I hereby instruct you to desist from calling for any sit-at-home henceforth. Equally, refrain from antagonising governors or persons in political positions because you are not in a position to know what they are doing on my behalf. “I am ordering you to make a public announcement to the effect that you are in receipt of a direct order from me to cancel any pending sit-at-home in place at the moment. “I embarked on this movement to liberate our people, not to enslave them. I despise and will despise any person or entity that wishes to inflict unnecessary hardship on our people. I have authorised Aloy to issue a press statement if you fail to make this announcement on your platform. “Anybody still engaging in sit-at-home is not my disciple. Haters of Biafra and mindless murderers in uniform are hiding under the cover of combating enforcers of Sit-at-Home to unleash mayhem against the same people we swore to defend. “I have sent countless messages to those purportedly enforcing sit-at-home that they are not doing so in my name. I am not begging anybody to release me, just that Nigeria should have the decency to obey their own laws.” https://dailypost.ng/2023/07/28/nnamdi-kanu-orders-simon-ekpa-to-end-sit-at-home-in-southeast/ |

garfield1: See,Nigerians wants appointees that has little or nothing to do with active politics, people with personal or private records outside politics or govt, new names and she's got it.judging her based on imo will be difficult because most imo people don't like uzodinma because of how he came into power plus his party. But if we must be honest, from what I've seen in imo,the major problem is insecurity which may be political.this doesn't concern her.aside that, hope is doing averagely ok better than rochas.the major economic issue in imo is the incessant sit at home which is also beyond her.for tinubu to pick her firstly into his advisory committee and then as a minister, she must be doing well. We are now reaching a compromise But let me ask you this, how did you come to the conclusion that Hope Uzodinma is better than Rochas okorocha. What parameters did you use to arrive at that. Are you from Imo State? My opinion, there's no past governor of Imo State Hope Uzodinma is better than, not even Ihedioha who spent just seven months in office All past governors of Imo State are far better than Hope Uzodinma. Know this and know peace |

Politics › Subsidy: Apapa-Led Faction Of LP Rejects NLC Planned Protest by Bobloco(op): 7:15am On Jul 28, 2023 |
The Labour Party (LP) has rejected a planned nationwide protest by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in demonstration against the removal of fuel subsidy by President Bola Tinubu.
The party also called for the immediate dismissal and prosecution of Melee Kyari, Managing Director of Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL).
Addressing newsmen in Abeokuta on Thursday, Abayomi Arabambi, the National Publicity Secretary of the LP faction led by Lamidi Apapa, said the NLC can go ahead with a strike and ask workers to stay away from work until their demands are met.
He, however, said the directive of the Joe Ajaero-led NLC on the affiliates and state councils to mobilise ahead for a nationwide protest “is capable of setting Nigerians against the Tinubu administration for violent overthrow.”
“Our party noted that the NLC President, Comrade Joe Ajaero, without facts baselessly accused President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of showing enormous disdain and contempt for Nigerian people and workers by the declaration of war of attrition on Nigerian workers and masses without any care, leaving them in the throes of hopelessness and helplessness.
“Labour Party agreed with the NLC leadership only on all lawful demands but disagreed totally with a resolution calling for mass action.
“Calling on Nigerians wherever they may be to begin mobilization to take action on their own against a legitimate government, even to the extent of directing associations, individuals and other entities, including the ones already on the streets, to ensure that government listens to the people, is a treasonable felony offence.
“Workers can be called to embark on a strike by sitting at home until the government meets their demands,” he said.
Speaking on the call for removal and prosecution of the Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL) Mele Kyari, Arabambi said, “Kyari’s leadership of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation and later Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited as a property of Nigerians failed to ensure that Nigerians are in the loop of the operations of the crude oil.
“The Lamidi Apapa-led executives of the party cannot ignore the pain presently suffered by Nigerians of all classes and therefore would want to have the president take decisive actions that would open up the national asset for a clearer assessment of the revenue and its possible impact on the people.
“This call by the Labour Party is critical to the yearnings of the Nigerian people and owners of the labour movement and the Labour Party.” https://dailypost.ng/2023/07/27/subsidy-apapa-led-faction-of-lp-rejects-nlc-planned-protest-against-tinubu-govt/

Politics › Senate ‘Bends’ Rules To Screen Ministerial Nominees On Monday by Bobloco(op): 4:12am On Jul 28, 2023 |
The Senate has set aside its own rules to pave the way for Monday, July 31, to commence the screening of the 28 ministerial nominees submitted by President Bola Tinubu.
By the provisions of the Senate Rules, the senators are not supposed to sit on Mondays. Chairman of the Senate Committee on Media and Public Affairs, Senator Yemi Adaramodu, who dropped the hint while briefing journalists after the plenary, said there’s going to be thorough screening for each of the nominees.
He said the Red Chamber had to postpone its annual long recess, which ought to have started on Thursday, to enable lawmakers to screen the nominees for as long as the exercise would take them.
The spokesman ruled out the tradition of automatic “bow and go” for any of the nominees, except where necessary, assuring that the 10th Senate would not disappoint Nigerians.
He said the screening exercise this time around will be thorough and it will not be just ‘bow and go’.
According to him, “The 10th Senate will scrutinise the character, personality and the ability of every nominee.
“Thorough screening for anybody who will be minister entails he/she must have ideas about everything, but in core specialties like health, judiciary, yes, the minister must be a professional.
“The character of the nominees must carry the resume, but we will not manufacture questions and allegations against anyone.”
Senator Adaramodu advised that now that the names of the nominees have been read out, anyone who has anything against them, like petitions, can channel such to the right quarters in the Senate.
On the fraud allegations against some nominees, like former governors, by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, he said all the nominees have gone through security screening checks from the executive.
He said: “However, if there is any red flag raised, we will look into it, re-emphasising that Nigerians will never be disappointed by the Senate as “the team will bring oxygen”.
The spokesman said, “Although the Senate is not supposed to sit on Mondays, but because of the importance attached to this national assignment, we have suspended all our rules for them to commence the exercise next Monday.” https://dailypost.ng/2023/07/27/senate-bends-rules-to-screen-ministerial-nominees-monday/

Or is it because he’s from an “inferior clan of Ebonyi”, unlike Obi Anambra and Ott Abia ? So because he does well for himself as a politician, automatically he can become a leader in Igbo land Maybe what is obtainable in your area is that as long as you can become a politician, either by hook or crook automatically you are a leader But in Igbo land, Selfish politicians who looted the people's patrimony don't become leaders though they might have sycophants who cheer them up but they can't be leaders in Igbo land Look at what has become of Rochas okorocha after becoming the governor of Imo State for eight good years, his name is in the dustbin of history |
