Politics / Greed For Power Rather Than True Patriotism Of The Military by BobNeli(m): 1:00pm On Dec 16, 2014 |
Nigerians, albeit d minority population, have been so miopic 2 decifer power drunkennes 4rm true patriotism. Histories're not just 2 help d weakness of memories, but 2 correct d future. D anticidents of a man always betray his intentions, no matter how good a chamelion he tries 2 portray. Becaus d leopard does not hide its spots. Going by d manner of military interventions 4rm d inception our democracy since 1960 till date. It becomes chrystal clear, how power drunken and intoxicated the military generals have been & still are. It might be pertinent 2 go a little bit down d memory lane. Underway d 2nd tenure of d 1st democraticaly elected prime minister of Nigeria in 1966, d military intervened in what they termed corective intervention against d anormalies of our corupt politicians in which Tafawa Balewa was d head. Installing Aguiyi Ironsi as d 1st military head of state. If d military was true 2 itself, why then d counter coup in same yr, resulting in d military unseating d military? One might say it had tribal undertones but lets see 4rm subsequent coups. There could be no betta explanation to this than, the highly ranked being mad and drunken for power. 4 d 1st counter coup that assasinated Ironsi & installed Gowon only had 2 last due 2 d eruption of d civil war 4rm 1967-1970. One might be tempted again 2 ask, why not another toppling immidaitely after d war? Bt remembring d efects, d war had on d lives & political will of d people, d answer remains obvious. However, in 1975 came another greedy show for power by same self centered generals who overthrew Gowon in other 2 stop him 4rm handing over 2 civil rule. As general Muritala Mohamed who became d 3rd military head of state, couldn't last morethan 1yr in office due 2 assasination by dsame military. Obasanjo's take over in 1976 enjoyed d grace 2 last 3yrs due 2 d already heated polity, stemming 4rm coups & counter coups that threw evrybody in2 caution. And yet when he handed over 2 another democraticaly elected leader in 1979, in d person of Shagari. D Army still could not hide their drunkennes 4 power. In that our present presidential aspirant, general Mohamed Buhari, unseated d mandate of d people in 1983. However, his manner of execution of d alleged corective intervation, left much to be wondered about. If not 4 power drunkennes which led 2 intoxication, tribalism, regiousity and favouritism, how can he explain his actions that were rather against d opositon 2 d corupt leadership than d corupt leadership itself? For while allowing d head of d said corupt govt 2 enjoy d comfort of his house at Ikoyi, he threw his deputy, Alex Ekwueme(tribalism) to prison. While allowin d major and active partners in-crime of d said corupt govt 2 escape his conjoured airtight security zip-lock(Chief Akinloye, chairman of d corupt leadership party. Richard Akinjide, legal protector of d party. Umeru diko as wel as Ubah Amed, secretary-general of d said party). He hunted instead d opposition 2 d corupt govt & hounded them in2 prison. Then came d decrees & retroactive decrees that striped d citizenry their fundermental human rights. D retroactive decree (20) condemned Bernad Ogedemgbe 2 a deadth that was world widely condemned as judicial murder. Decree 4 termed d media from freedom of in4mation. And I dare ask, what has an uncorupt leader 2 hide by depriving media, freedom of in4mation under his regime? But he was not yet satisfied. Humanright activists were hemned. Tai Solarin, an asthmatic patient who was thrown in2 detention without trial & deprived of his medication till his death in d prisons, an unforgatable memory. Albeit every atempt by d people 2 forestall their political will & have a discusion 4 a possible return 2civilian rule, met total contempt & disdain 4rm d power intoxicated general. Little wonder why his govt did not last 2yrs & was toppled by dsame military greed in 1985 under d auspices of Babangida who handed over to a civilian in 1993. But this greed continued in general Abacha ousting Ernest Shonekan 4rm office within 6months of hand over. This greed was butressed d more in Abacha wantin 2 hand himself over 4rm military 2 civilian rule, after 5 yrs of power abuse. But by God's intervention. Thesame was yet manifested in Obasanjo seeking permision for a 3rd term in office. This same greed rather than patriotism still compells general Buhari, having insulted and disapointed d confidence of d people btwn 1983-1985, by refusing 2 listen 2 their call 4 any discusion 4 a return 2 civil rule. Still want 2 take up as a civilian leader today. Isn't it an an insult 2 our sanity 2 be bambuzled into beleiving that any of these generals has any patriotic ambition rather than power drunkennes in their quest to assend our mantle of leadership? My fear is that they get so intoxicated with this power and tend to disrespect the law that empowered them, thereby turning the society into a lawless community were the logic of the animals reign. |

And therefore, a man who can not manage his little economic resources to break off the shackles of poverty. A man who only resorts to borowing to achieve the elderado of his dreams. I mean one who cannot discover his God's given treasures, put them at work and manage them economically to overcome poverty and bankrupcy, is not capable of managing public and or any joint ownership. ruffp:The truth remains that Buhari is a tribalistic, religious bigot. A military dictator whose greed for power manifested in his overthrow of the democratically elected Shehu Shagari in 1983. An arogant general, who is always careless with speeches. Like "If I dnt win 2015 elctions, the baboon and the dogs will soak in blood". An unsound economic man who couldnt build a single house from his personal toil but had to borrow money to erect all three properties decleared in his assets. PingXuan:It's among my baffling thoughts. Why should he declare even when not asked. Was he just trying to buy the sympathy of people with such a reflex action? Well, like I pointed out in my post. I am not into partisan politics. And therefore may not know much. I am really more focused on my carrier than on the lives of individuals, bristerling with prejudice and self-centeredness. But as a patriot, I decided to air my views on a rat I smelt. If someone else other than Buhari and crew put that piece up. Then Buhari should do something fast to clear his name off the mess. And if perchance he mistakenly said all that. I doubt therefore his competency to lead Nigeria. But I must tell you that there is something congruent with the lives of these Army generals. They hadly remember to put their economic and financial support in other. Remember Obj. Before he was elected in 1999, he told Babangida and co that called him to represent the intrest of the military, that he had but N20,000 left in his acct. Irrespective of how much the economy he looted from 1976 to 1979. Evident of his looting showing in his mega rich status today after taking up the mantle of leadership once again. Atleast, he ammased so much wealth to be able to acquire coconut wolf. As well as finance Ota farm that was habitating weeds, to yield morethan N30m in profits per month. These generals are always careless and carlous. Maybe due to the fact that they wielded so much power which gets them intoxicated and they forget to do things right and put even their backyards in other. If we can remember, Obj's leadership was mared with bullying and decree kind of power, reserved for the military. In the way he handled the Udi masacre which still yielded no positive results, but was world-widely condemned. I do not think that we still need military blood in our nacent democracy. |

Politics / Buhari's Declearation Of Assets. More Food For Thought by BobNeli(m): 2:19am On Dec 14, 2014 |
Firstly, let me state cathegorically that I am a politics non-partisan because I am a carrier guy. Dnt bother about my carrier yet because it will surface soon and everybody will witness. Moreover, I am a South-Eastherner residing in the North. And that also makes me a Nationalist rather than a tribalist. -I actually have had no time commenting on any political issue but this particular thing has pushed me beyound restrictions. I atleast remember that I'm still a Nigerian and that the attainment of our lofty heights rests on all of us. The emergence of Buhari from the APC primaries was highly esteemed and warmly welcome with great expectations that atleast, this PDP of a party will surely have a good run for their worth. Eventhough I never had intrest in politics, I found my self for the first time discusing with freinds, how Nigeria is gradually approaching rational democracy. It is no longer going to be a one party afair. It is no longer going to be, some gladiators imposing their candidates on the entire populace and manipulating the polity to favour their personal agrandisements. A lot went through my mind and I was happy. Although I didnt know Buhari very well because, during his military dictatorship, I was yet a todlar. But judging from what people say, I held him in high esteem. Meanwhile, I'm a thorough guy. Admist I dnt have time delving into people's lives but I grab opportunities to know what I have to Know. And the latest declearation of assets attributed to my highly esteemed General, has left me with more food for thought than for the stomauch. My spirit was greatly disturbed to learn from the uncalculated statements, refered to as declearation of assets of our prospective leader, the level of accademic, integrity and moral decadence our dear nation has attained. I asked my self. Where lies our hope, when the people we so revere and seem to repose our confidence in, have practically nothing to add to our lives. They seem to have no rational IQ, no economic records, no integrity and clueless in speaches. People that fail to recognise when they betray their weaknesses in a bid to attract sympathy for votes. Prospective chief executive officers of the entire Nigeria's economy. (ie. Chairman, board of directors. The Nigeria company). Who has no sound economic inteligence, nor record to show his capability of steering the ship of this nation to our promised land. Or how am I going to explain the fact that someone at Buhari's exposure and age, had been able to achieve but N6m in his entire sourgeon into the business world? But thinks he can manage a company with a workforce of over 160million people. I am talking about a general whose salary both as a general and former head of state was much morethan the said amount he claims to have as reserve. If he could not make savings from his salaries as a general in the army, a former head of state, and a petroleum minister. Then what is the probablity that our foreign reserves will not run empty under his administration? This is butressed by the fact that the only three properties mentioned in his assets declearation, were financed with borowed money. Meanwhile, someone that has been so revered as straight forward, who could not be precise with his speech, I think still have something to tell us. "I have atleast N1m left in my account". Leaves the audience with, how much actually are you talking about? I asked myself after reading this statement. "Is it just to attract sympathy for votes? Or to throw people off the scent?" There seem to be something hidding under the smoke screen. Well, that notwithstanding. How can a man vying for the office the president of the most popolous black nation of the world, indulge in unsound economic ventures? Like, investing N5.5million out of a total N6m and some fractions of his overal savings in an unsure investiment? Is that how our meager resources will be managed in the next four years? However, we still know that there are no facts to butress the truths in these declearations. Instead, a lot of contradictions abound. Earlier this year, we heard that Buhari borrowed N25m to purchase his nomination form. But now, the story is, out of his reserve N6m, he took out N5.5m. Where is the credibility in the statements? Well, if you ask me, I will say that general Mohamed Buhari is just but bankrupt. And simply seeking avenues to overcome his bankruptcy. We are not surprised that he will be, after so many years away from the coridors of power. These generals hadly plan their lives. Always believing that they will forever live on the nation's economy. And when anything happens to put them off. They're left destitute. 3 Likes |

Didn't we hear that Obj had but N20k left in his acct b4 his election in 1999? What has he become today? Coconut wolf. Ota farm that was only breeding grasses started generating morethan N30m per month. The piatiable states of the generals who thought they could live on national resources alone and when once the card is turned resulting to their oustar, they remain paupers because they are but unproductive consumers. Can we please re-visit the statement? He picked the presidential form with about N5m or more. Knowing fully well that only N1m was going to be left. That is share desperacy of a clueless and unproductive individual who is aiming sights at the national cake as his only remedy. 1 Like |

Can Obj please explain to us, the whole drama behind Ngige's election, his house arrest and the treason comitted under his nose? Can Obj tell us why militancy and kidnaping ravaged Niger delta under his administration? Even with his bombing of Udi, which was world widely condemned. As a master in waging insurgency, Why couldnt he mastermind strateties to end it? Since he is now excluding his administration from inheriting thesame bokoharam that he is using as tool to discredit his successor who has aready achieved more in 5years than he (Obj) could achieve in 8years. Can Obj explain to Nigerians, how his N20k acct balance b4 2009 transformed into mega Dollars today after occupying the no 1 citizen's seat for 8years? I am neither a pro nor anti Gudluck.
