wheezy1111: Nigeria has moved up four places in the ranking of countries on the 2018 Transparency International Corruption Perception Index.
This was contained in a report by the organisation, published on Tuesday.
While Nigeria ranked 148 in 2017, the country moved up four places to 144 in 2018.
Other countries on the same ranking as Nigeria on the 2018 index are Comoros, Guatemala, Kenya and Mauritania.
According to Patricia Moreira, Managing Director of Transparency International, more needs to be done to "strengthen checks and balances and protect citizens' rights".
According to the report, the 2018 Corruption Perceptions Index "reveals that the continued failure of most countries to significantly control corruption is contributing to a crisis of democracy around the world".
“With many democratic institutions under threat across the globe — often by leaders with authoritarian or populist tendencies — we need to do more to strengthen checks and balances and protect citizens’ rights. Corruption chips away at democracy to produce a vicious cycle, where corruption undermines democratic institutions and, in turn, weak institutions are less able to control corruption.” Moreira, said.

otipoju: I still strongly believe that Nnamdi Kanu was released by the Nigerian Army on the orders of Buhari and flown to Israel and finally London for this very purpose.
To get a sizeable number of Ibos not to vote and thereby reduce the number of votes for PDP in the eastern states.
The narrative that Nnamdi escaped on the night the army invaded his fathers compound is just pure "sobo".
From detention, Nnamdi would of course jump at the offer of freedom because it serves his interest - seccession of Biafra. Buhari too would use Nnamdi to achieve his aim of a second term but if Nnamdi ever sets foot in Nigeria after the election if Buhari wins...they would finish him once and for all.
The timing of his sudden appearance ( Atiku announced Obi as running mate on October 12, Nnamdi resurfaced in Israel on October 19 )and his first message to IPOB to boycott elections gave their action away as a knee jerk reaction to Atikus choice of an Igbo VP. You are a very shameless liar and ignoramus exposing your lack of knowledge in a very shameless manner. So when Nnamdi Kanu ordered election boycott in Anambra state, it was because of Peter Obi and Atiku? Do you see you change the narratives, telling lies without conscience. This is why your hope for a better ZOO Nigeria will always be a lost one. You keep praying for a better Nigeria and it keeps getting worse by the day, cursed people |

IPOB reveals new date for Biafra referendum Chijioke Jannah Chijioke Jannah 4 hours ago
The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has declared February 16, 2019 date for a referendum to ascertain number of Nigerians who want a separate Biafra republic through a peaceful and democratic process.
A statement by IPOB spokesman, Comrade Emma Powerful, on Monday, said the referendum would run simultaneously with the 2019 presidential election.
It maintained that the relocation of IPOB leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, to the United Kingdom from his base in Israel was actually to perfect arrangements for the referendum.
The statement reads: “Our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is currently meeting with IPOB high command in Europe to perfect plans for the referendum which will go side by side with the February 16 presidential poll.
“IPOB leader and other top IPOB high command are expected to meet with European Union ( EU) officials to gather more international support for the Biafra proposal.
“Recently Mazi Nnamdi Kanu had been holding “useful talks” with a number of diplomats on a successful referendum bids for Biafra on 16 February 2019, and we can assure you that majority of them have given their assurances and the proposal has received a tremendous support from many key allies who see self determination for Biafra as the best solution to the present Nigeria problem.
“The details and out come of the referendum on Saturday 16th February will determine the position of Biafra people in the coming weeks.
“The test will be side by side with Nigeria presidential election next month to examine how many people boycotted the forthcoming presidential election.
“On the format of the referendum, the planned boycott of the forthcoming presidential election would be a barometer to measure those who want Biafra and those who want to remain in Nigeria.
“The success of the sit-at-home order during the presidential poll in Biafra land will be a confirmation that Biafra is no longer under the bondage of one Nigeria.
“The truth is that by the time Nigeria will wake from the looming political crisis she will only discover that Biafra is already a sovereign nation.
“We are sure for peaceful and rancour free referendum because international observers and media platforms will be on ground to monitor the exercise on that day.
“It is important we remind Nigerians once again that the on-going political developments in the country only confirm that Nigeria cannot work together as one country and Biafra must be a sovereign nation.” |

The question to ask is whether he offered himself as justice Obisike did in Abia State?
He did not just offer himself, he offered himself based on a valid court order by the CCT which up on till now has not been vacated except it's vacated tonight Justice Tanko is going nowhere.
The NJC being a law abiding body will also take note of that in arriving at a decision tomorrow.
In the case of justice Obisike of Abia State as cited by Olisa Agbakoba, he drove to Govt House at the instance of the Governor to be sworn in just like that...

Like wherever they are, they always want to dominate the place and it's not possible.
For example, I saw one ignoramus celebrating Buhari's acclaimed campaign flop in Enugu and when Buhari enters again for the second term the same person would be the first to be shouting marginalization...Igbo's are not appointed... President Buhari is a tribalist and all nonsense conclusions, the question is...
What have you contributed?
What did you do to support the system?
I find it hard to believe some people will open their mouth and claim dominance in a place they never sowed. All you lazy Yorubas and Hausa's that have been spoiled with free education sponsored with Biafrans money and parasites living on resources from Biafrans land but quick to tag the hard-working and successful Biafran as people who always want to dominate others. Who hindered you from dominating the Igbos? The truth is that you cannot compete with God's own people and you cannot help it but express envy, bitterness and resentment against the chosen race. I have also been thinking very recently since Atiku declared he wi sell the NNPC to his friends even if he’s killed while doing that, and I ask are Atiku’s friends NigerDeltans ? I asked because I am yet to see Atiku fight for the cause of the NigerDelta. Atiku was VP when a NigerDelta community “Odi” was wiped out without saying a thing.
I wonder why Igbos are excited about this policy, is this policy not reminiscent of Aguyi Ironsi truncating confederalism to install unitary system of govt after which oil was discovered only for Ojukwu to wish he could turn back the hands of time with Aburi accord ?!
Are the Igbo not about to spite their face by cutting off their nose ? Who are the police makers for the Igbo nation and why are they only specialist in propagating hate ?! When an Aboki in Fulani Atiku finally sell of NNPC to his corrupt Aboki friends the Igbos will not look back and blaming themselves for the foolishness they willingly orchestrated, it is afonja they will be shouting up and down.
Igbo should think twice before allowing their new found Aboki lord n saviour in the Fulani Atiku sell of the wealth of the NigerDelta on mere stupidity just like Ojukwu wasted 2 million livess in the Biafra war only to discover even that will not suffice. But come to think of it , what difference will you make if you were to be in their position. Yes it is true that Nigeria has deteriorated over the years, due to what we understood to be improper management of the country's resources, but it shouldn't be a burden of one man, our leader shouldn't be most often targeted in allocating blames and insults in our failures.
Whether you like or not , this country has failed, we are down, and this wasn't caused by buhari or osibanjo , its our collective faults,.. We have formed this habit of blaming one another if things goes wrong instead looking for away out,..
For those who watch the beautiful game of football you see what players do when their teammate makes mistake that leads to goal, they don't gather to blame him on the pitch, rather they will encourage one another to move on towards achieving their aim as a team.... Any society that always push collective failure to one person has no aim to progress,.. OK, you blame our leader for incompetence, what about you that elects him to be your leader , don't you think you have yourself to blame also ,...
Its time we drop this weapon of disunity and bring forths constructive ideas that will move this country to a greater height.........

4Ebisco: Commissioner of Police in Abia State, Anthony Ogbizi, has said that sureties of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) should tell the world where he is.
Last month, an Abuja Federal High Court ordered Kanu’s counsel, Ifeanyi Ejiofor to produce his client.
Justice Binta Nyako ordered Ejiofor to produce the elusive IPOB leader during the next adjournment date of March 28, or for his sureties to explain his whereabouts.
Kanu was admitted to bail on April 25, 2017 and the Chairman, South East Senate caucus, Sen. Enyinnaya Abaribe, a Jewish High Chief Priest, Immanuu-El Shalom and a Chartered Accountant, Tochukwu Uchendu signed his bail bond.
In a chat with the Punch, CP Ogbizi said the Police is not keeping the Biafra agitator.
His words: “Nnamdi Kanu was charged to court; he still has a case in court. He was granted bail by the court, but we heard that he jumped bail.
“The sureties, who secured the bail conditions for Nnamdi Kanu, should tell us his whereabouts.
On his parents whereabouts, the senior officer said: “They have the right to live anywhere they want. Nobody stopped them from going back to their house, but if they decide to live elsewhere, it is their choice.
“None of them is in the custody of the police; so, we are not in a position to say where they are.”
Ogbizi also confirmed that IPOB members were caught with arms.
“We recovered weapons like petrol bomb, rifles and other weapons.
“We also recovered their insignias; we got a lot of information concerning the military wing of IPOB that they were training and teaching their members military tactics.”
