DSS is supposed to be the equivalent of secret service
I thought about it.
Then I remembered the US Secret Service is strictly mandated with the safety and security of officials of the white house and their families, and they're never involved in cases concerning other public officials or citizens of the US.

When you compare that to the nonsense the DSS does in Nigeria, it would be a grave offence to put both on the same plane. It was this same DSS Aisha Buhari used to arrest and detain the Northern student who criticised her on social media. The service is practically meant to run errands for the Presidency and other powerful cabals in government circles. So them no carry anything resemble the US Secret Service!

not about size but efficacy cum efficiency
This argument is a no-brainer guy.
What is the essence of splitting the ministry of works and housing into two? What is so complicated about handling construction and maintenance of roads and railways that the same minister cannot be made to take up the responsibility of federal housing schemes?

If one man can handle the affairs of administering governance as the President of Nigeria, why do you need two men to handle what should essentially be one ministry? If you appoint ministers based on competence, efficiency and merit, you won't need to worry about service delivery.

We both know this is just a way to create more room to accommodate all the cronies of the President in the governmental circles. This has nothing to do with any stupid efficiency.

Ataya.

So what's the reason for attempting to re-arrest the man? They had all the time to interrogate him before sending him to court. They had the charges before proceeding to court. Is it that they are no longer sure of their plans to permanently detain the man?

Why do Nigerian security agencies always arrest citizens, detain the fir ages, send them to court, re-arrest them at the court premises, detain them and start the process all over again?

They talk about the law and the rule of law, yet they flout them as as they wish.

Which kind country we dey so?
People meant to be custodians and guardians of constitutional laws and tenets just act with sheepish impunity and repugnant brigandage! Nobody seems to want to recognise that Nigeria is supposed to be a democratic society. You held Emefiele in your custody for over a month, even without charging him to court, you were all over the press granting interviews outlining his supposed crimes. You had all that time to pile up your accusations against the man, and when you finally have your day in court, you charge him with possession of firearms. Now the court has granted him bail and you're foolish enough to be grandstanding outside the court premises.

What manner of animals are these ones, ni tori olohun?!

We're complaining about cost of Governance and Tinubu is balkanizing one ministry into three, implication of which is going to be an increase in the total number of ministers compared to what was obtainable under Buhari. Consequent upon this, he'll need to make provisions for structural offices and staff for all new ministries, thereby bloating the already excessive resources being pumped into governance.

This is an unpleasant level of wickedness!
Politics › Re: Drama As DSS, Prisons Services Scuffle Over Emefiele’s Custody by BoldBrainz(m): 2:28pm On Jul 25, 2023
This current DG of DSS should be relieved of his duties and the entire agency disbanded and replaced with Boys Brigade members.

The agency is useless. It's primary function of intelligence gathering has never been met under Yusuf Bichi. They rather sit in their offices and concoct rumours and gossips, then go to the press, claiming they have "credible intelligence".

Buhari really bastardised the agency. This is supposed to be the Nigerian equivalent of the FBI, acting with utmost unprofessionalism and always disgracing themselves in public. Foolish set of animals with oversized guns!

Smh. He just woke up. For almost 3 years, the state has advertised and announced severally and even set up a committee for members of the society to come forward and identify or report to them a missing relative, no one came forward for any of these bodies.

The state went further to spend millions to preserve these bodies while waiting for the families, particularly those alleged to be killed at lekkilies, still nobody came forward.

Should LASG continue to keep the bodies for ever or should we forever believe the lie that anyone killed will not have families, friends, neighbours, pastors, imams etc.

If Amnesty International Nigeria is serious, it should not have kept quiet but helped the government publicize the long drawn public announcement to members of the public.

I will support Amnesty if it will offer to bear the cost of the extra days the LASG will be keeping these bodies. It is not enough for them to talk, talk is cheap. What will amnesty undertake to ensure that the families are found and tax payers in Lagos does not continue to bear the brunt and cost of keeping these bodies for ever. They are in govt mortuaries at a cost borne by the govt for almost 3 years now, what does amnesty want to do to help Lagos?
You don't have to peddle blatant falsehood in your bid to defend your interests.

Show us when and where the Lagos State government reeled out public announcements to the masses about the existence of dead bodies in its care. Just one instance should suffice.

Travel › Re: America The Good Sides And Bad Sides You Need To Know Before You Relocate. by BoldBrainz(m): 8:29pm On Jul 24, 2023
Fsboperator2:
The founders of America who framed the constitution knew a lot about the tyranny of government to which they fought a bloody war of independence against an absolute monarchy .

The American founders knew that they only succeeded because of two things :

1. A free press

2. And waiver to bear arms granted Colonialists by the British crown which was not in place in England and the British Isles.

Let me explain each in detail.

A free press , that is one without govt regulation , existed in the American colony. Note that the word "press" comes from printing press and has little or nothing to do with the modern profession known today as journalism.

Anyone with means could pay a printing press to print his articles and have them circulated either for a fee or freely . Look at the printing press invocation back then in the same way we see social media of today where anyone can publish anything and have it circulated in any social media. The American Revolution against the British Monarchy was successful because a few enlightened men invested money and resources to educate their fellow citizens to reject the King in England and they did it using the press by printing articles and circulating it freely to the populace from where they won the majority over. Journalism is a very recent profession as it only came into existence in the mid to late 1900s. "Freedom of the press" that was framed by American founders did not recognise journalists as the sole beneficiary to that right but every citizen had the right to print and circulate whatever he or she wanted. In this same light, the American founders also knew that being armed have them an edge over other colonial settlements to overthrow and chase the British out .

So in this light the US Constitution and relevant ammendments specifically provided citizens of the US the rights to free and unhindered access to information and to spread it while also guarranteeing them the right to stand their ground against a future tyranny.

George Washington remarked that "all governments exist by force " and that sooner or later they will encroach on the civil liberties of each and every citizen.

George Washington was also famous in stating the following:
"A free people ought not only be armed and disciplined, but they should have sufficient arms and ammunition to maintain a status of independence from any who might attempt to abuse them, which would include their own government."

And he was noted to say this about any present or future government considering disarming its own citizens :

"When government takes away citizens' right to bear arms it becomes citizens' duty to take away government's right to govern."

You must understand that the call by some unscrupulous elements especially those in the left to disarm the American people is the very first thing Communists do when they take over power for a disarmed and misinformed people are the most easiest to control absolutely
(See every communist society since 1918 Soviet Union).
I'm quite conversant with these laid down details and I haven't put up an argument seeking to demonise the principles upon which today's America was built.

I'm simply trying to point out the lucid and undeniable fact that allowing citizens to bear arms in public has largely been counterproductive. Even you will agree that gun related deaths have become a cause for concern lately.

Even if citizens are to be allowed to bear arms, there has to be regulations and checks put in place. It almost feels like the government is deliberately allowing gun ownership so the citizens can aid in the population reduction plot by killing themselves. Who is it going to hurt if citizens are only allowed to keep firearms at home and business premises and not bear them publicly? If someone trespasses on your property, you're on the side of right to have at the fellow.

With the impulsive nature of this generation of children we're having, people will only die in greater numbers in the days ahead.

No.

This is how it's supposed to be since Cain killed Abel.

You have the right to self defense .

And this is the only thing that I like about America.

People like you forget that the US was carved and forged by the barrel of the gun.

You think all those cowboy flicks nah fairy tales?

As long as the blood of cowboys flow in American blood, you can never disarm them.

The reason for allowing citizens arm themselves is to protect the people from the tyranny of the govt. And so far it's been holding up well for them.
Your last paragraph has very little logic in it. How is arming citizens supposed to help protect them from government's tyranny? Like, should the government decide to ignore human rights and liberties tomorrow and dehumanise the citizens, the guns are meant for the citizens to confront security agencies?

Isn't America supposed to be the very face of global freewill and liberalisation? Why would government decide to toe the path of tyranny? And even if that should happen, how are civilian masses supposed to confront trained security agents even with those guns?

It's okay to allow Americans to own firearms at home for self-defence in the case of intrusion by criminal elements. But giving an "okay" to citizens to prowl the streets with firearms all in the name of human rights and self-defence, is a recipe for disaster, which has already been made manifest in the endless cases of gun related deaths being recorded on a daily basis.

Igbo = Biafra, after that Nigeria is going to be Tripoli, the only problem of Nigeria is Igbo.
This is a very wrong assertion. Everything is wrong with Nigeria as a nation. This is beyond isolating one tribe as the only problem. You'll never know how Nigeria works differently for different tribes, regions, religions, classes of people, until you have actually travelled and experienced life across all regions of this heterogeneous contraption.

The OP is very right. Nigeria is not working. Nigeria has no business being one nation.

Recently, the acting EFCC chairman was in the news giving commendations and instructions to the new recruits who are about to be absorbed into the commission after their successful training. These new officers were over 300 in number. But there was never a time where the EFCC put up any advertisements anywhere in the media, to tell Nigerians about existing vacancies in the commission. Yet we all saw the induction of over 300 new recruits into the commission. How were these people employed? Connections. Man know man. Back door deals. Sale of employment slots. And this is just one instance.

The country is not working. Let each region administer her own governance. I can not be a South Southerner and be struggling to put my life in order as a graduate with a decent Bsc, yet one half-baked aboki and his brothers are controlling oil resources coming from my region. It is all nonsensical.
