PoliticsRe: Lagos House Approves 1.08bn For Purchase Of Cars, Apcs by bones1(m): 11:51pm On Nov 23, 2010
The intention of the House members to purchase vehichles for themselves at this moment - in the twilight of their tenure is sheer self serving and a complete waste of tax payers money, especially in light of the fact that they will not surrender the vehichles !

A very selfish move. That money could be put to much better use.

PoliticsRe: Police Arraign 25-year-old For Taking Picture With Blackberry Phone by bones1(m): 1:44am On Nov 16, 2010
Hmm !

Na wa O !

I cannot believe that tax payer's money is being wasted to prosecute someone who took photographs of policemen on duty !

At the very most, at the very most, even if, for arguments sake it as an offence to take photographs of policemen, haba what damage or injury have the policemen themselves suffered, or the Nigerian police force or the Federal Government. A stern warning or lecture to the JJC from Wales would have sufficed (even if he shouted or screamed that he knows his rights).

Na wa for our people in authority -  someone somewhere in that whole long decision chain should have been able to exercise his or her discretion wisely and  not go ahead with this time and resource wasting prosecution.
PoliticsRe: Nigerian Abroad Who Disgraced Compatriots (1): The Story Of Olu As A Case Study by bones1(m): 12:53am On Nov 16, 2010
Perfect script for a nollywood film !

But seriously speaking Olu is like a lot of teenagers who just have to learn the hard way - from their own mistakes.
PoliticsRe: Pictures Of Policemen Fighting In Lagos by bones1(m): 12:20am On Nov 16, 2010
This is bad, really bad and does not portray the police authorities in good light. I hope someone in the force will see or hear of this and take apprpriate action.

It could have gone nasty, especially with the build up of traffic on the other side of the road. This is really bad !

It is a miracle no life was lost.
PoliticsRe: Can Gej Become The President Without Rigging The Elections? by bones1(m): 2:40am On Nov 15, 2010
Marcdunu

Your analysis is quite intriguing and more along the lines of a John le Carre  novel.

However, I am sure most of  the pieces will eventually fall one by one into place for the successful and fair election of GEJ as the next President of Nigeria.
PoliticsRe: Can Gej Become The President Without Rigging The Elections? by bones1(m): 10:56pm On Nov 14, 2010
I don't know about you lot but I personally strongly think that GEJ can win the 2011 general elections (assuming he successfully scales through the PDP primaries) fair and square without having to resort to rigging of the elections.

There is no doubt that presently GEJ is the front runner in his party and among the candidates of the other political parties.  You may ask why -

He has age on his side, he is sincere (or at least is perceived to be so). he does not have a (known)  bad track record or baggage which is now somewhat of  a liability in Nigerian politics of today; and he is actually a politician with a difference. People are impressed with the fact that he did not bribe, scheme or plot his way to become President of the country - a usual occurence in Nigeria.

All he has to do which I can actually see him and his team begin to do is sell himself to the nation -  state by state, region by region extending to every town, city, hamlet, etc knowing that he will need every single vote he can get from all nooks and crannies of the country. This is due to the fact that the 2011 elections are very likely to be a significant departure from all other elections held in Nigeria - they will be held peacefully, transparently with a massive turn out as a significant percentage of Nigerians are being sensitized to register and they will vote; vote for GEJ !

There is no doubt that in order to secure his victory his team will have to horse trade with a couple of interest blocs - we the electorate will allow this as long as he does not mortgage his conscience (or our future,) which up until the present moment is clean and pure.
PoliticsRe: Jonathan Should Resign-ciroma by bones1(m): 3:09pm On Oct 06, 2010
It is patently obvious that the request for Jonathan to resign is absurd !

What moral fibre or character do they who are asking Jonathan to resign have ? I never heard that they resigned when they were in government and failed in their duties !

We want Jonathan to stay and contest the up coming elections. We will support and vote for him. End of discussion
PoliticsRe: We Want You To Resign Or Else U R A Gonna - Ciroma, Atiku, Ayu Tells Jonathan by bones1(m): 3:03pm On Oct 06, 2010
Pertinent question - what has Jonathan done or not done which warrants him to resign ?
PoliticsRe: 23 Accompany Jonathan’s Wife - Waste, Waste, Waste by bones1(m): 4:14pm On Sep 27, 2010

TravelRe: Early Morning Accident In Lagos Claims Three Lives by bones1(m): 6:53pm On Sep 03, 2010
May the dear souls of the departed rest in perfect peace.

I saw one of the cars which ran into the stationary truck and it was a very sore sight.

The authorities should ensure that our streets and roads are illuminated. If the bridge had been, then maybe this loss would not have occurred. In addition, motorists are advised to ensure that their car lights are working - it can only save you.

GOODLUCK of course ?

We have no better choice right now.
BusinessRe: What's Happening On The Lekki Axis? by bones1(m): 2:07pm On Sep 03, 2010
Gents, the fact of the matter is that the construction of the road will benefit most stake holders – the government, LCC and the private contractors involved in the construction of the road, the residents of Lekki, the people doing business in the area as well as the image of Lagos and ultimately Nigeria.
The real issue to be tackled is whether the road will be tolled in a way which will take into consideration the income level of the motorists and users of the road.
If I had any sway over the government, and by extension LCC I would insist that they pitch for a low figure, say N30 per passage. What they should be aiming for is to ensure that the majority of people who need to come into or leave Lekki axis DO SO BY THE NEW EXPRESSWAY, and not to use the alternative back access roads which will certainly have to be provided/ created.
If a high percentage of commuters in Lekki, say 80% use the tolled road whenever they have to commute then I am sure the LCC will be able to achieve its revenue target.
I work in Lekki and it is so obvious that without the road life would be hell commuting in and out of Lekki. There are some pockets of hold up and delay at different locations along the expressway everyday due to the ongoing construction works still going on but , objectively speaking, that is a small price to pay if we want a modern world class road which we can all be proud of.

PoliticsRe: Boycot Daar Communications (AIT) Now! by bones1(m): 4:25pm On Sep 02, 2010
That does not mean that those Nairalanders who are are persuaded can boycott AIT; although I personally do not see any great critical mass of people boycotting AIT which will have any impact on Dokpesi.

As some Nairalanders have already commented I hardly ever watch AIT anyway !
PoliticsRe: Boycot Daar Communications (AIT) Now! by bones1(m): 3:01pm On Sep 02, 2010
Tokotaya, there is nothing absolutely wrong with the debate going on here between opposing camps and with divergent views being aired. We live in a democracy, albeit flawed to a certain extent.
