man wise up, dont get it twisted! u can never compare south west to those regions in the north, an average people over there are potentially violent and abets violence, due to many factors including... Multiple ethnic group, religious differences, professional differences(farming, cattle rearing) etc. People down here in the west are peace loving and always their brothers' keeper, they secure each other and even without the supervision of the government on handling of those donated weapons, they will coordinate themselves well and will never use it against anyone else, remember in Ekiti, there is only one ethnic group, people are so united in that state. The Governor is really smart on this one..... I only feel for those ilorin cattle rearers, but with the availability of cattle ranch, they should be ok.

Who are the lecturers that teach in private Universities? Are they not from these same public Universities? Are they not products of public Universities? How come they work better in private Universities? Truth is you can never compare the well laid down institutional frameworks in most private Universities with the jungle system in public Universities. OK unilag was just closed.... Why? Will that closure assist their best minds to do better? When last was Babcock, covenant, etc closed? Don't even want to mention Great ife. Oba Adaniduro University. The first class produced in private Universities are good! At least academically. They may be dumb in others aspects but that is a general trait of most 1st class holders. Also don't tell me u met one olodo from one private University or the other during NYSC or at work, so what? Haven't we seen graduates from public Universities, even UI, that can't string together a simple sentence correctly? Or which institutions produced our half baked primary school teachers? Even lecturers in public Universities now run to private Universities to run their PhD programs! That's to tell you how hopeless the public educational system is.
In terms of research output and innovation, private schools will get there shortly at least no private university in Nigeria is up to 20 years old. How old is UI, Ife and UNN again? Imagine what covenant, Babcock, Bowen, igbinedion will look like in the next 2 decades....

By the way, this guy in question wasn't shot. One of the policemen posted to the school busted into their fight and dey even lied him down. On getting up, he released gunshot into the air. It was the shell that dropped and wounded the student. That's how the violence started. This said guy i saw while he was moving to school gate with his colleagues to burn the the security vehicles at the school gate. They started rumoring it that a student has bn shot by school policeman. This prompted the students to go wild and they even started the violence at the old female hostel opposite college1. From there to hostel 1, to colleges, to female hostel, to new male Hostel, to TDC before the team of policemen came into the school compound. So u can see seeing is believing. I saw all dis things with ma 2 wide and big eyes. @Pretty_Baesheska

When Chief Afe was the Pro Chancellor of the University of Lagos, there were more grievous protests. And nobody was sent to prison cheaply like that. In real Universities, not these make-believe-institutions, there are laid down principles of addressing issues. There's suspension, rustication, expulsion, and all that.
Protest is not new in the higher institutions. The fact that the Principal, nay the proprietor, of the institution is a lawyer, doesn't mean he can treat people anyhow.

i can clearly sense your bias opinion. What was d guy trying to do that lead to him being bruised? Actually he wasn't hit by any bullet, the gun was only fired to the air. There is no justification for what happened last night.

No responsibile and serious student will partake in what happened lastnight.

Those students has been planning it for so long even one security guard told me that, they usually says 'one day we will box this school' and they only took advantage of that lastnight lil disagreement to carry it out. There are some students that are having poor result and about being rusticated couple with some students with bad behaviour like use of hard drugs.

Why they were able to succeed to that extent was that, they believe that those security personnel there will never harm them regardless of any attitude they display.
So when the issue was heating up, the security guards ran away to prevent mishaps. They were capable to stop them but if anything happens to any of those students they will face the consequence.

They destroyed about 5 cars, burnt 2 motorcycles, destroyed 5 motorcycles, stole many items, stole money, went major shops to steal items worth millions of naira , Destroyed many facilities including one expensive machine in college of engineering.
