Jobs/VacanciesRe: Help Needed, I Just Lost My Job Recently by boriswole: 3:48pm On Feb 18, 2012
Guy,
This is not the end of the road, you just have to tread carefully.

Saying you want to renew ur house rent for 300k shows rue not ready to make adjustments.

Still do ur wedding anyway, but at the registry, don't be conned even the slightest gbogbo ero party.
Think of a small business you can do that will bring in a steady income, it may not be as glorifying as ur bank job, but it's important you get a steady income to feed your family. Just have it at the back of ur mind that ur small business can become big.

There are several options ranging from transportation, to food, security. Just think of a solution to a problem around you, that's a business Idea.

Take the next few weeks to research and come up with an Idea that will work for you.

I wish you all the best.

Fire Outbreak At National Assembly

Posted by NigerianEye at 11:13 PM
There was a fire outbreak at the main building of the National Assembly today,
Reports Indicate that the fire started from a malfunctioned air conditioner in one of the offices

According to one of the fire fighters “The fire started at about 1pm. We were in our office just there (pointing to their office nearby) when one of these sergeant-at-arms rushed to our office and shouting that there was fire.” “When we got there the whole place was covered with smoke we could not find our way through easily. Apart from that, there was nobody to bring the keys and open the offices for us to move in.
“We were just there struggling to see how we can enter until one of us just forced one door open before we could enter. If not that it is a place we are very familiar with we, we could have found it difficult to locate the actual place. But we were able to locate the office. They said it is the office of the secretary to the CNA. By the time we got there the whole office was smoking heavily but we were able to tackle it before the fire could spread into other offices,” he said.

BusinessRe: Lagos-Ibadan Expressway To Be Financed By South African Bank by boriswole: 4:45am On Jul 19, 2011
General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, over the weekend assured that powerful forces against the planned reconstruction of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway would fail.

He spoke while receiving the Chairman of Bi-Courtney Highways Services Limited, Wale Babalakin, at the Redemption camp on a courtesy visit.

Adeboye said: “Anyone who gets this kind of assignment needs a lot of prayers. There’s a saying that any man who has a farm by the roadside is always suffering, because everyone passing by will be able to say: ‘Ha! He should have done it this way.

‘’So, no matter how hard he’s working, they’ll criticise him because his farm is by the roadside where everybody is passing. Your farm now is not just by the roadside, it is the road itself.”

Babalakin blamed politics and inability of Nigerian banks to provide fund for the slow pace of the project.

He said: “There’s nobody who wants to give out money. This road was given to Nigerian Banks to finance; Nigerian Banks don’t have a long-term contract. We were holding meetings upon meetings, but you discover that all they can give is money for a year or two years and what you need is money for 15 years.

“We are now making headway because a bank in South Africa showed interest. And we are now going to build the road with a consortium of firms in South Africa. We’ll in 10 days time start patching the road, later we’ll commence the proper work.’’

He added: “We assure Nigerians we’ll lay three lanes going to Sagamu, three lanes coming back; we’ll repair Sagamu to Ibadan, we’ll then come back and start rebuilding so that at every stage of our construction, there’ll be two lanes for motorists, while we are working on the third lane.”

Babalakin complained that many powerful Nigerians are against the project. He said: “Many people don’t want us to build that road. There have been several stumbling blocks. We’ve been having problems with many powerful mediocre.

‘’Many people whose structures will be affected have gone to court. There are 55 legal cases on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.”

In his response Adeboye said: “I can assure you we will continue to pray for you and you will succeed in the name of God. Those who will not allow us to reach our goal, the Almighty God will help us to change their minds.

‘’Those who refuse to change their minds, God has a way of removing them. When God supports someone, no one can defeat him. So we’re thanking God in advance for the miracle that will begin to happen as from today.”

He later prayed for Babalakin, assuring that the project will be a huge success

BusinessRe: Kalahari Nigeria - How Good Is The Online Shop? by boriswole: 9:03pm On Jul 04, 2011
cinzo:
@bi ilw wu, You come across as a very daft human being! I bought an ipod for my nephew for his birthday from an online shop in Nigeria oh! I paid into their account and they delivered to my office. Gave it to the birthday boy and the ipod never worked for a day.

All my calls to them to change the defective ipod proved abortive as they were asking me to bring it to their shop. What I have discovered is that most Nigerians in their bid to make fast money feel if you are comfortable or you have money, you must have stolen it hence they need to cheat you out of some of it.

I have decided that if I can't touch it before I buy it then its not worth the stress
so, simply because you were unable to settle a dispute with a Nigerian online site, everybody should not patronize any online venture, Nigerian Entrepreneurs and startups should simply give up their dreams and leave things the way they are.

We should ask for quality service at all times, online or otherwise, but we shouldn't make it difficult for genuine business owners who have set out to do their best to satisfy customers. Its just not fair.

@obowunmi, @cold and all other doubting thomases,

the corrobarations above should convince you, if they dont, quite unfortunate, Nothing i do or say will ever convince you, so this post will be my last attempt at convincing you.

1. To verify you can go to LUTH and find the consultant who signed the hospital report( thats a simple way to verify the Authenticity of a document)
Since a volunteers verification did not convince you.

2. if you cant find the consultant, ask around at the Dialysis center

3. if you are too busy to go to LUTH, find someone who knows anybody studying medicine in Unilag to help you find out.

4. Print a picture of this woman and take it to a GTB, with this you can verify that the signatory to the account is the same person in the Picture.

This experience has really been an eye opener for me and i am wiser for it.

I now appreciate what ive got.

If you are a moderator here, y didn't u use your main account? That might have lent your post some credibility. You should understand that whoever wants to give on this forum would be sparing their hard earned money and nobody wants to be hoodwinked. Again.

I like Justwise and Aisha2's suggestion abt getting the hospital involved. Please give this appeal some creibility by at least showing it's not going into getting someone a new car or whatever.
@ tollu, I'm a moderator on nairaland, not in family but in jobs, u can check my profile, however, I wasn't trying to take advantage of that,

I now know how hard it is to raise funds, maybe I was a little naive before. Our spamming brothers have made everyone to shine their eyes.

I will find out from the patient if st. Nicholas is attempting to raise funds for her, although I doubt that,

In Nigeria, when such things happen, ure pretty much on you own.

Like I said earlier, friends and family have already rallied round her to raise so much, but the dialysis is so expensive and it quickly diminishes her savings.

Thank you.

Hi all, I appreciate the concern,
I have never done this before, so forgive me if I have not provided enough information.

It is just a rash attempt to raise funds.
You can confirm details from Luth I think,She still visits there regularly for dialysis.
The attached document is what her son scanned to me.

She lives at Ibafo in ogun state and used to work at IKOYI club.

It is unfortunate that we are having to do this, in fact I had to plead with her before I got permission to do this.

However, I am not embarassed, it is better to make an attempt than to fold my arms.

I am a moderator on this forum.

We need your help, do what you can to help save this woman's life.

Thanks.

I don't think this is an appropriate place --- are you a member of a church, can't you fundraise there ?

I remember the story of some NL members who "fundraised" for a boy with cancer and that money was practically syphoned --- the way the politicians do it --- point being everyones got one problem or the other but I don't think this is the right place to beg or ask for money. Church ? Mosque ? That's why people pay tithes to support each other when issues like these arise.
Ok, so because you have other Ideas as to how the money could be raised, that doesn't mean you should label the post as spam.

When things like this happen you try everything you can think of, you appeal to your friends, you empty your savings, you ask complete strangers for money.

an yes, its ok to say i am begging, im begging to save someones life.

and i wont stop, ill do everything possible until she gets the surgery.

Thanks.

@ obowunmi, how have you been able to decipher that this is scam.

is it the fact that you have found it difficult to trust anybody or you just feel that it must be scam

it is so sad to see how a honest plea for help can be labeled spam.

This woman is my Aunty and i am trying to raise funds for her.

if you need more proof you can Pm me or send email to the address in the post, i think it is sad for you to jump into conclusions without any proof.
FamilyHelp Mrs. Eniola Daramola by boriswole(op): 7:53am On Feb 24, 2011
Dear Friend,

I'd like to introduce Mrs. Eniola Daramola to you.

She's a mother, daughter, aunt  and sister to members of her family.

This kind hearted woman is just like you, living, breathing, hoping.

However, you are recieving this message because, She needs your help.

Mrs Daramola has been living with a kidney dysfunction for the past two years and has undergone several phases of this ailment.

Her rapidly diminishing savings is being spent on dialysis at LUTH thrice weekly.

Right now, her doctors at LUTH have advised that she undergo a transplant procedure in order to save her life.

To do this, she needs the sum of N5million Naira to undergo the operation at St Nicholas hospital.

Friends and family have been able to raise the sum of N2million naira, however, another N 3million is needed so that she can do the operation in good time.

Dear friend, your assistance in any way, no matter how small will go a long way in putting smiles on the face of this woman and her children.

She is a shadow of her former self as the Kidney dysfunction has taken a toll on her and although she is the bread winner of her family ( since she lost her husband 5 years ago), she is unable to take care of her young children as she would have,

She has also stopped work because of the ailment.

This is an earnest and sincere plea for help to kind hearted members of the general public.

Mrs. Eniola Daramola needs your assistance to survive.

Please see pictures of Mrs. Daramola before and after this medical issue. Her medical report is also attached here.

Your donation no matter how small, will go a long way in ensuring that this woman smiles again. You will be the reason she made it through.

We have been able to raise N2million, however we need your assistance in raising the remaining N 3million. We are also wary of the fact that if we are unable to raise this soon enough, she might need to start spending her savings on dialysis which is only a temporary solution to the problem.

If you would like to donate for Mrs. Daramolas treatment, details are as follows:

GTBank Account: ENIOLA DARAMOLA- 230 684 416 1590

For further enquiries please send an email to: helpeniola@gmail.com

Thank you and God bless.

1.0   PLANT & PIPING DESIGN WITH COMPUTER-AIDED-DESIGN SOFTWARE

Here, we make an assumption that each participant is familiar with the nuances of Pipes and Piping. Although, we make an effort to make some re-hash and revision, the constraint of purpose won’t make it exhaustive.

Our intent is to introduce the Piping Engineer to the beneficial applications of Computer-Aided-Design, CAD to Plant and Piping. Our suite of programs includes the following Plant Design and Management System, PDMS (majorly), CADWorx Plant (which has an AutoCAD interface) and Bentley’s AUTOPlant. But, our emphasis is on the program PDMS, except the participant has a differing expectation.

The course intent is under-listed.

•   Fundamentals of Pipe and Piping design.
•   Fundamentals of the flow of fluids through Pipes.
•   Introduction to Codes and Standards, ASME B31.3, B16.5, B16.10 etc.
•   Understanding the 3-dimensional space, in terms of co-ordinates, relativity, navigation and the specific placement of items in space
•   Understanding of the basic hierarchy and what elements can be created.
•   Basic understanding of the concepts of attributes.
•   How to navigate around the database.
•   Equipment design and its attendant templates.
•   The basic concepts of pipes and branches.
•   The use of piping specifications in PDMS.
•   Branch heads and tails and the importance of component list order and flow direction within a branch.
•   Understand how to create position and orientate piping components.
•   Describe all the functionality of the Create Components form.
•   Understand the catalogue point configurations for standard components.
•   Understand more complex positioning with relation to other design items.
•   P-points and axes.
•   Querying the current attribute settings.
•   How to change the settings of an attribute.
•   Report generation and output.
•   Generation of Isometrics and spool data.
•   Piping Integrity checking and clash-detection.

2.0   PIPING STRESS ANALYSIS & CAESAR II

This module draws heavily on a background of attendance of the Introductory Piping Course or in-depth familiarization with the dictates of ASME B31.3.
Our intent is to introduce the participant to the application of CAESAR II to Piping Stress Analysis and NOT just how use CAESAR II. The user will witness the “simulated” behavior of the design piping system in graphics and by various interpretations of results, modifications will be made.

A  Piping system which moves Crude Tower bottoms from the bottoms pump to a steam stripper unit which is utilized in a refining process is modelled in CAESAR II and the behaviour of the system is simulated and thus predicted, applying modifications, where necessary.

The course intent is as follows-

•   Piping system modeling in CAESAR II.
•   Introduction to the concepts of nodes and its subsequent investigation.
•   Restraint Bends, Tees etc modeling.
•   Error checking with CAESAR II.
•   Load Case combinations and investigation.
•   Stress Analysis and code compliance results and interpretation.
•   Displacement results and interpretation.
•   Restraint results and interpretation.
•   The need for system modification and the discretion about it.
