And this one too is a graduate, another example of the continuing deterioration of our academic institutions. These are the ones that cause western countries to ask Nigerians to write TOEFL. Do these boys not write WAEC anymore? How did someone like this pass English? Do they not teach English comprehension anymore? Capable of reading yet zero comprehension skills.

For the ones being peppered, understand that a lot of people will do anything to impress the gullible. Used furniture costs a very small fraction of brand new and a lot of Nigerians patronize the auctions for furniture, just like they do for vehicles. A lot of these furniture auctions have merchandise from the estate of deceased, wealthy Americans whose inheritors are trying to dispose of very high quality house furnishings so you can buy very nice pieces at a small fraction of the cost. It is a fact that some Nigerians only ever buy big ticket items at auctions because they believe that’s the best value for their money.
For those that want things they can’t afford brand new, these auctions are a treasure trove. For things they like but can’t afford, you have instalment payments or the deferred payment arrangements with stores for almost everything in the household, from electronics to furnishings. sonnie10: Where is this?
You see why our economy is the way it is. The same thing is going on at almost every segment. No value added. The same leather we export for 20k (less than $40) is processed and sold back to us for $1000 per whole cow size. Similar situation with cocoa. A full jute bag of cocoa is sold for less than the price of a packet of chocolate bar. The other day I saw processed finished oak plank of 6 feet length for $40 a piece on Home Depot. While we sell correct mahogany of 12 feet (unprocessed) for less than #5k ( about $5 for 6 feet length) The biggest pocket drain. We export crude oil to pay subsidies for refined products, at the detriment of the country’s fiscal reserve. Kano. The dream is too big for them, they merely want to sell immediately and make cool money. The man even showed me a size enough to make a pair of shoes, he said 500naira. The foreigners are seeing the untapped resources in Nigeria, the reason why they are coming in droves to set up companies in Nigeria, we can't blame ourselves sha because we have limited exposure on how to process things. Why I low key fault those that have traveled and stayed for years over there, look at those things the whites are doing easily that we are still struggling with, come back and recreate it, you will make easy millions. That is what PEAK did, peak used to import dairy milk for their milk production in Nigeria until they discovered that the Fulanis sell a liter for less than 500naira, guess what they did? They set up collection centers in various Fulani settlements, sensitize them on how to collect clean milk, and even helped them to plant pastures so their cattle won't have to graze long distances to feed. The collection centers are now buying milk for 2k to 3k per liter daily from the Fulanis, win-win. Fulanis Earns more without hawking THOUSANDS of miles just to earn 500naira Peak milk also gets cheaper raw milk right in Nigeria. We have many untapped resources in Nigeria, hardship no too make us see them |

Pascopele: It's usually in prison they burst your yansh, the situation in Nigeria correctional facility is a slave and master relationship. You don't talk to the warden standing, you MUST squat at every given point in time talking to the warden. The female sanitary pads are usually cotton wool and in the event you don't have any they use a piece of clothes.
Conjugal visit are a rare privilege. If you new (maybe your case is not so strong let say you hit someone and the person is in the hospital recuperating and it a court case-if the person dies, if you don't have a good lawyer you will languish in prison forever), they are bed spaces for sale, 500 a night, 1000 a night then we have the executive suit and the also have grades, the one with AC, without AC and WC, with AC and domestic staff, with AC, domestic staff, TV and the perks that comes with it- Bode George enjoyed this while in prison. Their cell block is different from the rest of the prison. Watch closely these VIP don't come to court with handcuffs, they may at the intial stage afer some time, no handcuffs and indication that the have been moved to the VIP.
In the prison cell I was, we had the Christian leaders and the Muslim leaders. We were about 356 in a very small prison cell. Once it 5:00am we all wake and give space in this small cubicle to the Muslim to pray, no one dares make a noise while they are praying, once they are done they give way to christian to do their morning devotion. The food is nothing to write home about, if you see egusi, stew, beans, rice and eba you prefer to go hungry that eat it, but this prisoner eat it with joy, I couldn't not eat it the very first 3 days, they kept telling me, "you go die of hunger". Nobody told me, I had to start to eat and eventually enjoyed it.
We all had duties assigned to us, from cleaning to washing, weeding the grass and maintenance. There is also classes for vocational courses.
Your cell mates were rapist, robbery, serial killers, cultist and many awaiting trial for crimes they know nothing about. All these guys have compelling stories to tell only a few who have been sentence to death either by hanging or life in prison actually open up and tell you how, why and the genesis of their being in prison. Some of these guys in prison had some warder on their payroll (how do you explain a cell mates telling you he watched the champion league match and had access to his wife and kids and had a medical check up.
K, who is awaiting trial for 8yrs. D, is petty thief has been in and out of prison for years H, been in prison for a crime he know nothing about V, has been in prison since 90's, probably has less than 3 yrs in his sentence, but says he prefers it here (prison) than outside.
Donation (such as toiletries, soap, detergent, biscuits, noodles) doesn't get to the prisoner, they are sold those those that have cash. In prison cigarettes is like cocaine 10 people can share one stick 1 person one drag. Warden are heartless and wicked Nigeria Police toture dey learn for were warder dey.
One thing about Nigeria prison system, HAVE MONEY otherwise you will rot in prison.
You reading this freedom is beautiful, value your freedom Thank you for this piece, may God come through for everyone |

sonnie10: Can those be used for upholstery? I would never buy any imported upholstery in Nigeria. Locally made ones have more quality. Left for me, all those knock-off chinese furniture won’t sell. Nigeria has been conditioned to accept everything as normal.
This is not only in the furniture business, even electronics. Take for instance the Samsung ridge I bought for $4500, it has 10 warranty. Which company would give 10 warranty on their electronics in Nigeria? They all get away with dumping substandard goods in Nigeria.
It is not just a matter of purchasing power, it’s also an issue of weak regulatory actions. I believe they will need further processing, but I really can't give a straight answer now, I merely know it's a tradition to deskin animals after slaughtering. Mhen, one of the problems of Nigeria is that most of the regulatory bodies are not working and even the JUDICIARY is not helping matters, reasons why banks and telecommunications get away with a lot of ripoff. You pray before buying any product or service because whatever you see after buying is strictly and sadly on your head. |

somehow: I wanted to buy some chairs from vava earlier this year, my wife discouraged me due to the cost and said we should build one instead.
We checked various furniture makers, they are mostly displaying their jobs on major highways Lagos-Abeokuta express way etc.
We decided to try out one of those guys displaying good looking chairs.
I gave him specifics, down to using 100% fibre for the covering, do you know that 1 week into delivery (After delaying by 5 days), the arms of at least 2 of the seaters started shaking?
Called him several times to come fix these issues, he kept giving excuses until I stopped calling him.
He even used the wrong color and wanted more money to have the fabrics changed to the color I chose.
There are things I wont be allowing Nigerian artisans handle for me, it's just getting out of hand. Almost all the furniture makers I have patronized for the past 5 years disappointed me one way or the other.
I don't know why this is so, is that that perfection is no longer a yardstick?
Artisans no longer want to stand out or what exactly is happening? About giving jobs to artisan in Nigeria, you need to be extremely prayerful, only very few can recreate what you want even though 100% will reply with "oga, I fit do am na" Is it about when we paid a carpenter for roofing and he ran away for over 6 months after stopping midway or the one who took our chairs away for over 1year? When you meet a good and creative Artisan, hold HIM TIGHT |

I really applaud the fact that most Nigerians are now open to giving to orphanage homes, some have made it compulsory to always spend their birthdays with this kids. It makes these kids feel more loved, which is a good thing. We visited an orphanage once and my pastor kid didn't want to leave, I was around 15years then and sincerely, those kids were LIVING BETTER THAN US. We had to trek for over 1hr just to save transport cost only to get to the orphanage to see beautiful FACES! no cap, they were all using good phones and they had a generator (mikano) running 24/7. My pastor kid said "Daddy, I want to live here". About where they school, they were enrolled to a big private school from primary to secondary school |
