wow. This is an investment for the patient.

For those with big money in millions, tens and hundreds of million, it can be considered an investment. But for those with small money in tens and hundreds of thousand, it can only considered as a way of savings and currency/ capital preservation.

Let me break it down. Assume you invested N1m Oct 01 for 181days, at say 10% which ends 31 Mar 2020. 2020 being a leap year. How would the discounted value be calculated? I would assume this should be N950,410.96 but a bank calculates it as 952,944.08.. which is like N2,533.12 extra taken by the bank. How does this work out? 181 is 181days.. what part does a leap year have to play in this?

Assistance anyone?

Ok now I understand you better.. and from here, it's obvious to you that a leap year plays NO part. did you calculate their charges? commission, custody fee, transaction fee etc?? If you did, what did you arrive at? or better still if you have the certificate, follow every Kobo recorded there and see where the short fall lies.

Has anyone here invested in TBills for a period which crosses into a leap year? Do you know how the discounted values are calculated?

A normal calendar year is 366 days
A leap year is 365 days
A T-bills year is 364 days

Do you choose bank rate or specify your rate? What happens when you choose bank rate on the form?

When you choose bank rate on the form, they will just use their rate and bid for you at the primary if it scales through, congratulations. if it doesn't, they may suggest the secondary mrkt to you or you wait after a 4th night to rebid for the primary.

Without your cert, at the end of maturity, you will be seated at home/work/anywhere and you will just get alert bagam your account has been credited that's all.

This may not be the right place to ask this question, but I can't think of any other place since I'm already familiar with this thread. I'm serving, and currently receiving a monthly stipend of 60k (19,800 plus state allowance).

I intend to save everything but I don't know the best savings plan I can go for. Someone suggested piggybank to me but I'm not sure if there are better options for savings. I also have an idea about ARM MMF. Please advise.

ECOBANK has been with my money and i get peanuts monthly

They even tried for you giving you peanuts. For me,they don't give me Kobo rather they deduct some charges that I don't even understand. Now I prefer leaving my money in mutual funds than to leave it in the conventional bank account.

It's good you are investment conscious this early in life, sometimes I wish I knew what I know now at an early age, I wouldn't have made some exorbitant expenses to no good.To me, either of the two is good and ok just pick any that you are comfortable with based on their terms and conditions, record service delivery and start. With time you will get better and diversify.

Yes, it is quarterly. The interest you incurred at the end of the quarter will be reinvested this making it part of your (new)capital

My latest experience with FBN Quest. Very unexpected and embarrassed!

This is my money and I don't like people playing gbangbang-golo on it.

Had similar experience, I made deposit Friday before noon, it wasn't acknowledged until I made inquiries Monday morning, my acct officer told me they had an internet down time from Friday till early hrs of Monday and my Top up won't reflect until Tuesday at the close of work when the systems are refreshed, true to his words, my Top up reflected late Tuesday evening. I will advice you give them a call

From your question, its obvious you still don't understand the whole concept of T-bills. but let me try to answer your question
Each bank has its secondary rates separate depending on the availability. If a particular bank tells you they don't have at the moment, just go to the next bank you will surely get. But the secondary rates in next bank will differ from what the first bank will offer you oh..

Are you asking for the mode of sending or you have settled on the mode of sending and now receiving is the problem now??
Your question is not really clear.
Is it money you are receiving? Was it sent through Western Union, or other forms of electronic transfer? And now you don't know how to receive? Is it an item sent through any of the Currier services? DHL, FedEx and you don't know how to track and receive it? Was the item sent through a person or an airline and you don't know where to meet with the person or airliners to claim your item??
