shophut: What do you refer to as incompetence? Is trying to put things in order so that future scholars won't have hitches while overseas pursuing their studies or doing the same things over and over again allowing future scholars to be stranded overseas with unpaid tuitions and upkeep? Is that the incompetence you are talking about My dear, nobody is saying that the wrongs shouldn't be corrected. My point is if honesty and transparency gets its primacy in 2017, we'll all be the better for it. But, keeping people back home when their colleagues have resumed is uncalled for. PTDF and NDDC had their exams and interviews at almost the same time. I need not remind you of what transpired at the PTDF camp. Release the list, be transparent with the process, correct your past mistakes while these students have left and commenced their studies. Or is this too much to ask? Can a bank for instance stop attending to customers because there was fraud(real or suspected) amongst it workers? Are we accepting this maltreatment because it's a government agency? #EnoughSaid |

shophut: I have been keenly going through all comments on this thread. Some of you fight and abusing each other here will that change when NDDC will bring out the list. #Pauseandthink.
NDDC is an agency under the constitution of Nigeria, and reserves every right to discharge its duties as guided under the law. The MD/CEO has uncovered an internal fraud perpetuated over the years using the cover of this scholarship scheme and wants to put it right, and so many of you here are crying foul about it.
Which is better? NDDC brings out the list and you become stranded over there or accept the delay and wait for things to be set right and get all funds accrued before leaving.
We should join hands and do the needful. Does misappropriation and malfeasance take eternity to unravel? Monies were paid to individuals not ghosts. Does internal weaknesses of an institution spearheaded by a few corrupt officials be responsible for majority missing their admissions? If this year's award is transparent, then it becomes easier to go back and undo previous anomalies. Let's stop giving excuses for incompetence please. Thank you. |

Nigerdcritics: The list is ready, but the board is reluctant to release it. My source says they want to pay the scholars they own first before the release. Hopefully Thursday or Friday. But like I said this board and MD of NDDC are the worse in the history of the NDDC Friends, let's be frank here. It's not important if the list is released with no adequate funds. We don't want an award letter sending us on a “suffering mission." Whatever needs to be done to right these wrongs should be done. |

sethmelia002: You people dont seem to understand what the word keep in view/suspension is, NDDC is trying to solve some issues and after that they will release the result. All these false updates on release today or tomorrow is becoming irritating. Everybody should exercise some patience it will come. And it will at Gods perfect timing. Jeezzzzzz! Ma'am, you seem to have some genuine information. But then let's face it, what issues take this long to solve? Schools work with sessions, isn't it rather inhumane to subject people to this kind of treatment? Most schools resumed in September, and here we are talking of being kept in view ( KIV). The last time I applied to a university for teaching and I was told the application was KIV was in 2014. Candidly, up till this day, the school didn't get in touch. If all is not well with NDDC as it seems to be( remember that even the mere 10k, they've not been able to pay), they should tell the whole world so. We're simply tired of being kept in the dark. Thank you. |

And he told her the list is with the board and he knows nothing about when it going to be released. That she ahould tell her parents to pay her tuition fees and if fortunately she is selected, she will get her money back. And she told the man "if my parents had money to pay for my tuition why will i bother myself with the scholarship in the first place?" And that is how my friend was discharged. Aminuabiolamuhd: What are you shaking your head for? At least u heard from the horses mouth that he tried booking an appointment with the VC on several occasions in different institutions even with recommendation from the chancellor but to no avail. All I'm saying is that in Nigerian institutions, booking an appointment with the VC is like a mission impossible. Here's a secret, ask for the name of the VC's secretary. To go pass security, tell them you want to see the secretary. Be polite to him/her and state your mission. If you can get the secretary's no, it's even better. Discuss before coming. As I mentioned your state university is your best bet. Demand for a part time appointment and a promise to come and teach for free even if it's for a week upon returning. Best of luck. |

CeciliaOko: Hello house. I know this thread is not for NITDA Scholarship but I just hope that I'll get help/sugestions from Nairalanders here. I was success in the last year's Aptitude test(PhD category) and will soon be invited for Verification but my problem is that i don't have an employement letter as a University lecturer but I have secured an admission into my programme already. What do I do? How do I get this letter? I've applied to over 40 different universities no positive feedback. I'm at the verge of losing it all. I've tried all I could, even applied as freelance lecturer in some private universities to no avail.
I will really appreciate your kind suggestions. Thank you. Is being a university lecturer a criterion for the scholarship, if yes. Then, do one of two things: 1. Go to a private uni, book an appointment with the VC. Tell him in simple terms. A temporary appointment would do, no compensation is required. You'd even volunteer to lecture one month for free upon returning from studies. 2. Apply the same technique to a state university. But, go back to your state of origin and see the VC of your state university. It'll work. You should have come to seek advice before now. This is September already. Wishing you the best in your academic journey. Cheers! |

Well friends, don't let it bother you. There's a yearly budget, funds are to be spent for their allocation. That's how it works. If funds meant for the scholarship in the budget for 2015 & 2016 was misplaced, how's that our business. Keep the faith. The list will not just be released, but funds will be provided. #BornOptimist |

Jobs/Vacancies › Re: 2017 NDDC Foreign Msc And PhD Scholarship by BRAINNY(m): 11:19pm On Sep 06, 2017 |
Synger: Friends, it is very shameful NDDC has been monumentally inefficient, and her delays has destabilized the plans of many! While we can conveniently blame them, I would not advise PROSPECTIVE scholars to act as though we are scholars already. In the strict sense of it, NDDC may not be answerable to us at this stage, but that does not in any way justify this delay. My Advice: wait patiently and if successful, you would have the RIGHT to fight for it. I make these submission because of the following 1. In 2015 and 2016, the scholars where communicated in the 2nd and 4th week of September, respectively! This tells me, NDDC does not care about the start date of our course. Personally, I was a beneficiary in 2015 and had to get another admission for January to utilise the award. They are known for delays in all they do.
2. The PhD scholars for 2015 above (same set as myself) are truly stranded and struggling to get their funds! Methinks, this is a strong indication all is not well with NDDC, especially when one considers the fact that they are SCHOLARS already. Not to talk of people who are still yet to be given award. NDDC has the right to suspend this year's award and the applicants would not be notified. Atleast, that's the "standard practice" in this country! Feeling ashamed! The onl
3. A serious candidate who really yearns for this award, should have understudied the modus operandus of NDDC so they don't get unnecessarily worried. I say this not with the intention to be provocative, but to make us understand how terrible the state of things are. In 2015, when I got the award, we where paid after 8 months for a 12 months MSc (I was very lucky because some persons own took longer).
While the above statements may not be a good news, it should at least make us get a clear picture of what to fight for and what not to exert our energy on. Just to be clear, I also applied and my Uni resumes in 2 weeks time and I feel terrible about the delay. But, I don't know if I made the list but prays everyday I do make it whenever it is released.
I think we should be open to information from a few privileged persons here; that could be helpful---atleast for planning purpose. The history of the award also tells me, they are not bent on improving irrespective of political leadership as evident in delays in from late release of scholars list and unpardonable delayed payment of scholars entitlements.
Concluding, let's be patient and make the list while hoping this avoidable delay would translate to improvements in the scheme. Sincere apologies if any aspect of my thoughts tramples on the sensibility of anyone. Quite insightful! It crossed my mind that the new MD may just be trying to improve the scheme. Now that PTDF has released her list, let's hope NDDC would do same. Btw, I learnt a proposed meeting was schelluded today, any one with an update0? |

Prudento: The actions of PTDF, NDDC, etc are all insensitive and provocative. It makes an already angry Nigerian mad and a peaceful one dissilusioned. Who knows them should tell them they have failed us. The most painful one is that of being aware of the resumption date of most scholars, yet delaying “The List." |
