I have an S5 G900f, and I bought it for 95k. 45K is a mite too low even for a used one, unless you're selling a clone. My opinion though. I noticed that your S5 doesn't have a led notification light at the top left corner, why??
|
donhils:S5 duos model is pretty much your typical s5 snapdragon variant but with 2 micro sim slots, that's all. |
donhils:Samsung went fully native on the S6. Everything, right down to the chipsets were Samsung made. They were trying to prove something to Apple, I guess. The Exynos chipsets they used is top notch and can only be compared to the latest snapdragon chip model, S810. However, from what I was able to glean from the leaked specs of Note 5, Samsung's romance with snapdragon just got better. |
donhils:I don't think it's nonsense though. Lots of people using G3 wants out, and I don't think it's only because of the crappy battery life. |
Darkseid:That's what you get when you buy all this used phone bullcrap. Your brother should have tried it out with his sim before acquiring it, since it's at&t locked. |
donhils:Every smartphone lags in some capacity, some slightly more noticeable than others. To enjoy your S5, it's highly recommended that you seek out the snapdragon variant, and upon acquisition, proceed to upgrade it to the latest available lollipop firmware, prompto. This should address any lingering software/hardware discrepancies like lag and overheating issues. On G3, I read somewhere that it tends to freeze up sometimes, and the UI can get jerky when it overheats. The S5 of any model don't do this, even on their worst days. |
Samwell247:Dude, what you get from infinix is not even close to be called the best, thus, the affordable price tags. Infinix hot note pro specs ain't impressive at all. How can you call a phone that has a resolution of 720x1080 on a 5.5 inch screen (190ppi) the best?? How can you hype a phone that masquarades as a mid ranger and yet has an outdated and weak 32 bit mediatek chipsets as cpu, when other chinese mid-rangers like Umi iron and P7000 have 64 bit and slightly current mediatek chipsets? How dare you hype a phone has an outdated Mali 450 as a gpu? How can you hype a phone that doesn't have a notification light?? Dude, what you get from infinix is a watered down devices at affordable prices, so watered down that they should be compared with the likes of Innjoo fire, alright? Samsung have a lot of budget phones as well like Galaxy Grande prime, Quantro, and Mega, which btw are way more durable and dependable than any of this Infinix range of phones from Infinix hot to Zero 2. |
donhils:All in all, they are pretty much identical on stock Kitkat, if you don't put the differing chipsets and rom space into account, until you upgrade to lollipop, then you would start noticing the difference. S801 variants have better battery backup, doesn't lag, doesn't heat up on heavy use which can be attributed to it's more efficient cpu optimization (inspite of having 4 powerful cores, only 2 get used for most tasks), slightly faster processing speed, download boosting (combination of LTE or 3g network with wlan simultaneously), fast charging (mine goes from 25% to 70% in 25 mins), smart transfer (you can transfer files from your computer to phone without the use of a USB cable: a lollipop feature only exclusive to S801 variants), and smart call (calling someone simply by placing your device to your ears: another feature only exclusive to S801 variants on lollipop). |
Do people still use Lumia?? ![]() |
donhils:Yep, Exynos variant is common in the African market. Doesn't support LTE network(not that it matters in Africa), unlike the Snapdragon variants. Mine is the European model G900f, which currently holds the reputation of being the best of all the GS5 models. The reason people usually go for the Exynos variant can be split into 2: it's more readily available to customers and it's more affordable than the Snapdragon variants. Snapdragon variants usually ship with 32gb rom BTW, in direct contrast to Exynos' 16gb rom. |

donhils:Snapdragon. Better than Exynos models.

Lots of kids on Nairaland nowadays. @Op, rooting enables you to have total control (privilege) of your device. You can uninstall unwanted system apps, and install apps that require root privilege among other things. |
From personal experience, S5's battery on heavy usage usually depletes after 6 hours. What I love most about the phone is it's ability to fast charge. The 3.0 micro usb port is nothing like I have ever seen before.

Double post. |
What's your budget like? |
donhils:You can always go for one of those Chinese brands like Huawei, Umi and Elephone. |
donhils:Lolz. Quite a situation you got yourself in here, bro. ![]() |
donhils:Yeah, it's not common. |
donhils:It doesn't have a led notification light at the front like the S5 but you can use the primary led flash at the back as a notification light. As for network and volume issues, it's all a myth. The phone is one of the best looking android smartphones out there, makes mine look ugly in comparison. |
donhils:Yep, I think he bought it at Kanfanshan (I hope I got the spelling right) when he was serving at Plateaux State. |
donhils:I don't think so. |
donhils:So Steve Jobs was a bullshiter, then? I mean, the man that single handedly revolutionarized apple didn't knew what he was on about?? Okay oh, no comment. My brother's A7 has 401ppi on a 5.5 inch screen, according to CPU-Z, but to be honest, there is no telling them apart when placed side by side with my S5's 431ppi on a 5.1 inch screen. Theories and reality ain't the same, bro. |
donhils:I read somewhere that the human eyes ceases to differentiate the difference in colour density at normal viewing distance, when pixel per inch exceeds 330. So I don't think anyone can really notice any difference between a typical QHD screen and a typical FHD screen that falls within the 330 spectrum. HD display, however, can easily be told apart from the duo because it falls outside the 330. |
donhils:Many of what you said ain't true. The G3 is scarce because the demand is negligible. Shops don't like to place an order for what they can't sell in time. Ever wondered why the S5 and Z2 are almost always available? Their demands are high. I had an option of buying a cheaper G3, but I chose the S5 instead. Why? It's more durable, more accessible, more feature rich. Better UI integration. S5 on Lollipop 5.0.2 comes with toned down touchwiz bloatwares, that doesn't affect the ram in any way, giving the user a seamless performance. The S5 is also easy to root, I rooted mine with Kingroot 4.5 that can also root S6 and Z3. LG G3, however, is unsupported. Good luck rooting your G3 if you ever buy one, lolz. For your S5 to lag, then it's either you have too much bloatwares that haven't been removed or disabled, or, your os is buggy. Your phone is as good as the Os powering it. Mine doesn't lag at all, but then I run mine on beast mode, which can be tweaked from the developers option. Finally, according to several YouTube videos, G3 lags a lot, and it's all because of it's ineffectual QHD display. It can be addressed however by a visit to the developers option. The screen looks dull when placed side by side with the S5. It's all on YouTube, check it out. |
BedLam:My S5 even when on Power saving mode is bright enough, especially on dynamic display mode. The same can't be said of G3 where it becomes so dark that you can barely see anything even when you're indoor. |
donhils:I have handled the G3 personally, and I know for a fact that it's so called QHD resolution is not sharp enough. It gets very dull indeed when you activate the power saving mode, or reduce the brightness manually. |
From what I heard, the battery life is deplorable, and the UI lags a lot. |
donhils:My S5 has been great so far. It's particularly very good at watching movies because of it's super amoled high definition display. The phone comes with 3.0 micro usb port that facilitates fast charging even with the run-of-the-mill blackberry usb cable that one can buy for N250. The battery life itself can last for 6 hours of heavy usage on full charge (not bad). On greyscale mode, it can last for an extra 6 give or take. Handles HD gaming like a champ. It used to overheat on heavy usage. but after upgrading to a lollipop 5.0.2 firmware last week, it became a thing of the past. Finger print sensor responds better too. I did notice one thing though. When I was running the stock kitkat, my ram memory was 1.8gb, then I did my first lollipop upgrade, checked the ram, and it was still 1.8gb. But after I did my 2nd lollipop update a week ago, my ram reduced to 1.7gb. The current OS needs more juice, I guess. Downloading on the phone is a blast. The device comes with an inbuilt download booster that was originally meant to boost your download speed when you're on 4g network but works with 3g as well. The device also comes with Multi-window feature that allows you to be doing 2 things simultaneously, but it tasks on the battery heavily, thus, not adviceable if you're trying to economize on the battery life. All in all, it's a great phone, a real high end premium product. My only con with the device is the location of the speaker and the fact that it's mono instead of stereo in nature. It doesn't matter really when you're holding it in your hands or placing it face down, but when it's lying on it's back and the music is playing, the muted sound becomes a downer. |
rapthugx:Install CPU-Z from playstore to ascertain whether the phone is fake or real. |

Google ain't the only online search engine giant on earth. There are several of them actually, that would greatly benefit if by any chance Google went crazy and started billing people for online searches. |
