Technically speaking HTC is both Chinese and non-chinese. Taiwan is recognized by the west, particularly by the US, as an independent nation, while Russia, Cuba, plus a smattering of African countries that heavily does business with China sees Taiwan as part of China.

The tie breaker: Taiwanese themselves however - even though 85% of the population speak Mandarin as a native language - don't see themselves as chinese. Thus, it would be wrong to classify HTC as a chinese brand.

Lagusta:
Infinix is french, not Chinese

And I also believe tecno is a hong-kong company
The Infinix Mobility Limited, the makers of the Infinix phones is a joint venture company between minority partner, Mobiwire (formerly Sagem wireless) and the majority partner, Earning way (Chinese company) in Hong Kong. So, while the infinix phones might have a touch of both France and China, the Infinix as a company is founded in Hong kong. The phone's outward appearance is designed in France and the hardware assembled in China. Thus, in all effects, Infinix is more of a Chinese phone than French.

Infinix don't make their own components btw, they buy everything and assemble them, the end product: the Infinix range of phones.

Their flagship Zero 2 is an average spec mid ranger operating a 32bit and bit outdated mtk MT6592 chipset. I think that said it all.

Don't get it twisted.

Side Note: Hong Kong is a part of People's Republic Of China

Over the years, the so called Chinko smartphones have gained quite some grounds on the Korean and American Giants. Without further ado, let's look at 10 of the strongest contenders across China that have the potential to give the established heavyweights quite a few worries in the foreseeable future. To quote a Bob Marley song: If you are a big tree, we are a small axe sharp and ready, ready to cut you down.

10. UMI
https://www.umi-zero.com/images/umi%20zero_umizero-1.jpg
UMI has come with their latest flagship in the end of 2014. It was the UMI zero which is a high end, metal made smartphone with good specifications. They made sure everything about this smartphone was right, and they did deliver a great product. If they continue this line of quality and looks we’re quite sure that this company will get very popular in 2015. But it’s not that time yet and the company has to work hard to establish its place in the fierce Chinese smartphone market.

9. ZTE
https://bestmobs.com/html/uploads/ZTE-V5-Red-Bull-launched-in-China-for-1302.jpg
ZTE has been making quality phones for quite some time now but it always seems as if the company just isn’t making the most out of it. We’ve seen their phones come and go but they never seem to create a hype as for example Xiaomi does or Huawei with their Honor line. ZTE is a brand that will probably stay around for years from now.

8. Lenovo

Lenovo is well known all around the globe and they seem to make good quality product, whichever branch you put them. But the smartphone industry is a tough industry and if you want to make it in this industry you have to come with a little bit more that ‘just good’. Although their handsets got good reviews and people do like the brand, it doesn’t look as if the company can really secure a tight place in the smartphone market. They are one of the biggest brands in the world when it comes to producing smartphones, but if it comes to popularity they still have
some catching up to do.

7. Elephone
https://en1.data.coolicool.com/images/MHAFEP7000/MHAFEP7000修改图/A1_1.images.400x400.jpg
Elephone isn’t one of the biggest brands at all, and they don’t make the best products either. They aim on cheap phones with good specifications Until now it seems anyway, because their latest models look stunning. Next to that, they have great specifications and the company seems to create quite some media attention over the past few months.

6. Zopo
https://www.zopomobileshop.com/520-large_default/zopo-c3-smartphone-mtk6589t-15ghz-5-inch-fhd-screen-android-42-16g-pink.jpg
Zopo makes great phones. They come with high specifications and good build quality. Many of you might say that this brand deserves a higher position, but I beg the difference. The company has been struggling in keeping its head above the crowd and they don’t seem to be able to create big media hypes like brands as Xiaomi or Meizu. For that reason this company doesn’t get a high position in this ranking. If you are a good brand, you should also know how to play your cards.

5. OnePlus
https://media.engadget.com/img/products/508/awcd/awcd-300.jpg
We can’t think of a brand that had a smarter way of marketing itself. The ‘invite’ system. It worked for them and it worked well. They made sure that you could only get an OnePlus with an invite, and that made people want the phone. People always want stuff that they cannot get. The brand got very popular around the globe with their OnePlus One ‘flagship killer’ and we expect to see a whole lot more from them.

4. Oppo

Oppo has found itself setting two records this year (but losing one very soon). Those were the first motorized rotating camera and the world thinnest phone measuring just 4.85mm. On top of that the company seems to be able to produce good phones which are widely popular under the public. The Find 7 was one of the best phones of 2014 and after that they weren’t even finished. At the end of the 2014 they brought us the Oppo R5 and the Oppo N3, both widely popular. This brand deserves a #4 position.

3. Meizu
https://www2.res.meizu.com/en/images/m1note/specifications/appearance1.jpg
Meizu knew how to play the media and they did it well. ‘Leak’ after leak came out about the Meizu MX4 first, and later about the Meizu MX4 Pro. It stirred up the media and everybody loved it. They released the Meizu MX4 Pro with a bang and the first stories about the phone were great. Everybody seems to love it and the company went back to its roots. Music. The fact that this company decided that they couldn’t leave their roots behind gave them just that little bit of extra respect. People love the phone, and they seem to love Meizu too.

2. Huawei
https://dash.coolsmartphone.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/05/huawei-ascend-p6-evleaks-1369336069-150x150.jpg
Even though Huawei is one of the biggest manufacturers of smartphones in China they had to give their number one position away to a fairly young brand. The brand is popular all around the globe and it seems that the end is not near at all. Huawei still has some tricks up its sleeve but we can’t help but notice that the company isn’t focusing on its smartphones but more on its other businesses. Is the company giving up smartphones a bit because of the fierce competition in that market? Is it getting too hard for a company like this to earn money in this market? We’ll just have to see what 2015 brings.

1. Xiaomi

There could only be one on this position and Xiaomi deserved it. The young company is getting more popular by the day and they have huge production problems. Normally, that wouldn’t be a good thing, but the production problems we’re talking about is that the company just can’t handle the demand. That’s a shame for a lot of willing buyers but for the company that means that they can keep expanding for quite a while. One thing is for certain, this company will have a very good year in 2015.

Credit goes to Chinese Smartphones

Side Note: I sincerely hope this article will assist some people to make the right choices when it comes to picking a chinese brand. There's more to a phone than it's affordable price.

bro ur diverging from my point...I stated something earlier about a person buying gadgets in relation to his wealth...that's buying what won't make u uncomfortable financially...when ur earning 30k monthly...and ur struggling to keep up with life but u have an iphone 6,samsung S5,Iphone 5 and ur buying a blackberry Q10 to add to the list, all in good shape...u still call that love for gadgets or just an act of irresponsibility...
I don't think I diverged at all.

My first point was to address your earlier comment about white men preying on Africans by pointing out that Samsung ain't white in origin.

My 2nd point was to address your postulations about white people using outdated phones as a primary phone more often than patronize the top OEMs, by reminding you that in developed countries, 3310 and the likes are disposable phones in direct contrast to what you see in Africa whereby people use them on more permanent basis.

My 3rd point was to remind you that top Smartphone companies don't launch their products in African market, thus before the International variants eventually roll into the African continent, they would have made a lot of money already from their primary markets. Bottom line: they ain't exploiting us at all like you implied.

My last point was to ask you to quit being a busy body, that's all.

I said what u need...ps3 is fine...loving gadgets is fine but getting it in excess is a waste...buying four or five big expensive phones that are similar in functions is a waste...it doesn't matter if u love it or not...its the same as a guy that loves expensive drinks and spends 10 million on just 5 bottles of drinks...bro its the same waste...that's being extravagant...
Hmmm... some people self. As far as your money ain't in play here, I sincerely don't see how it take concern you. It's their waste, not yours.

lol bro u need to check the worth of phones movie stars and rich men like bill gates and the likes use...then compare it to what a young struggling 9ja youth uses...then tell me who uses the bigger phone relative to their wealth...
Note* when I mentioned 3310 I didn't mean just that phone brand...I meant phones of that grade...u should get the point in comments before condemning...
Bill Gates had been pictured several times grasping a Microsoft powered windows phone between his palms. As the face of Microsoft, it's imperative that he be seen practicing what he preach. It's great PR among other things. Before Steve Jobs died, he was always seen handling a customized iPhone.

dude am speaking out of experience...when u have people looking up to u for support...u would find out that wasting money on gadgets just for the fun of it is really not needed...TEENS and young youths can get this but matured folks with responsibilities won't venture into this...
Geez, I can't believe that people still think like this! There are people that love gadgets and like to spend big on acquiring them, and usually, they are grown men with a lots of responsibilities. Enjoying stuffs you can afford doesn't make one immature, okay? I play PS3 with my Dad all the time, and he kicks my ass half of 'em.

They don dey show Nigerians...oya make una come rush am...200k each...lol these whites get sense eh...they don't use most of these products...they just manage their 3310 and their laptop...but an average Nigerian big boy/Girl would have 3 brands of iphones,2 galaxy tabs,4 brands of blackberry phones,...waste waste waste...
First of all, @the bold, Samsung is Korean (Asian), not European or American.

2ndly, in developed country, white people and Asians don't use outdated phones on permanent basis, they call it burner or disposable phones. They make calls with it then threw it away. It's only in africa you see people using burner phones as a primary phone.

3rdly, Top OEMs like Samsung don't carter for the African market, we are generally ignored and mostly had to make do with the cheaper and less featured International models (which are usually not as solid as the European/American/Asian models). Example of this can be found on the -Galaxy S5 where the European variant (G900f) is more powerful than the International variant (G900h).

Last but not the least, anybody has a right to buy what he/she can afford. If one can afford to change phones every 5 weeks, so be it, it's their money after all, not yours.

Yes Injoo note is a popular phone.
Nope, Innjoo note is a low spec mid-ranger that is simply too mediocre to compete with the high-enders on the list. Moreso, Innjoo products are only known in Nigeria and a few other African markets, thus, not a popular brand. Also their products are prone to faults.

But you gotta admit that when it comes to efficiency, the S5 still got it. Out of all of last year's flagships, it's only the S5 and the Nexus 6 that kept on popping up at unexpected places in direct contrast to G3 and Z2, both of whom are all but forgotten.

no LG G3 or even LG G4 and LG G FLEX OR XPERIA Z3. OP ur list is not complete
LG G series are well designed devices, lots of great features - I particularly like the motion stabilization feature - but performance wise, not so much. Their QHD pixel density always end up sabotaging the inadequate Krait processors, inevitably forcing them to post consistently low marks on various benchmark tests out there.

The guy that did the analysis is not so vast on android phones e.g i use a samsung note 3 and nt even the beast known as note 4,but i can tell you that note 3 is still ahead of galaxy 5. You can check it up yourself in the popular phone freak site 'GSMARENA'. Why the note3 boast of 3gigabyte RAM,galaxy 5 comes with 2gigabyte RAM etc note series are always a world ahead.
God! Some people sabi lie sha! As a phone freak, I live in Gsmarena, phonearena, Android authority, and Gizchina and have practically read every head to head ever published and guess what? There weren't any direct comparison between S5 and Note 3 on Gsmarena arena as you had stipulated! But, there were in others, and on each occasion, the S5 edged the duel in 5 particular areas:

1. Better calibrated screen
2. More powerful processor
3. More advanced chipset
4. More advanced camera tech
5. Sharper and more colorful display

The only places that Note 3 consistently trump the S5 are:

1. Bigger screen
2. The S pen
3. More ram (which doesn't really matter)

You should also note that before the advent of the S6 and it's edge variant, the S5 was Samsung's flagship device. You know the meaning of the term 'flagship' as used in popular culture, right? The best performing phone, and thus, the promotional face of an OEM.

Btw it's a known fact that a 2gb ram phone operating a faster and more powerful processor is slightly more powerful than one with 3gb ram but operating a weaker and slower processor. The extra one gigabyte of ram is an overkill, a waste, doesn't really come into play.

An antutu benchmark test performed by experts puts the S5 significantly ahead of the Note 3 on every single occasion.

Get your facts right, man.
