Iron Man (May 2008) --- 8/10

Now that's a thrill.

So, how come Terrence Howard left the franchise? I kind of prefer him to Don Cheadle.
Don Cheadle not bad though.

I am really enjoying this MCU re-cap.

Next is Iron Man 2.

update:

Turns out RDJ is as much a Dic.k in real life as he was as Tony Stark!
In Terrence Howard's own words:

"“It turns out that the person that I helped become Iron Man, when it was time to re-up for the second one, took the money that was supposed to go to me and pushed me out,” Howard said.

“We did a three-picture deal. That means you did the deal ahead of time—a certain amount for the first one, a certain amount for the second, a certain amount for the third. They came to me with the second and said ‘look, we will pay you one-eighth of what we contractually had for you, because we think the second one will be successful with or without you.’ And I called my friend, that I helped get the first job, and he didn’t call me back for three months,” Howard added.

sheeeesh!

In business, there are no friends, only acquaintances. Terrence Howard should quit whingeing about getting stiffed and move on already. I'm fairly certain nigga wouldn't hesitate to pull the same shit if the situation were reversed.

Simply doing what an officer tells you, without anger and resentment, would simply save all this drama..

Yeah, but it's easier said than done. People are pretty volatile, esp when they feel they are in the right. When a confrontational situation arises, it's up to a cop's discretion and professionalism that such a volatile situation doesn't escalate.

A cop that doesn't follow protocol and chooses to follow a routine that best serve them, is a dangerous cop, and ought not to be anywhere near a police uniform.

They were assumed to be carrying, which wasn't far from the truth, because they had the dead cops gun, though probably not present at that scene. They even pointed the same gun at a sheriff, in one scene, thus, they were deemed to be armed & dangerous & since they failed to comply to directives, lethal force was the only option.

In that case, they gave the cops cause to use deadly force on them.

So on point again...but not complying with orders or been on the run will better this situation how?
Running won't improve the situation because at the end of the day, they are still cop killers, and white cops still want them planted 6 feet under... permanently, but it would be the wisest thing to do, under the circumstance, and might keep them alive a bit longer.

Well I think cops follow the routine that best suits em'
the same link says;
Even though it might sound harsh and impolitic, here is the bottom line: if you don’t want to get shot, tased, pepper-sprayed, struck with a baton or thrown to the ground, just do what I tell you.

Sometimes, though, no amount of persuasion or warnings work on a belligerent person; that’s when cops have to use force, and the results can be tragic.

Any cop that follows the "routine that best suits them" is a bad cop, and is likely to get someone killed.

So True..Knowing this prejudice, wouldn't they have at least complied to at least give them a fighting chance to save their lives, to least get arrested and have their day in court?

White cops frequently shooting unarmed blacks mostly stems from prejudice that an average nigga is sneaky and dangerous. Armed with such mindset, a white cop is most likely to shoot a black guy innocently reaching for his driving license, than a black guy holding a gun.

They were believed to be armed and dangerous and didn't comply with orders? Right or wrong?

American white cops have a deepseethed prejudice against Blacks, and are known to be trigger-happy.

The protocol is to negotiate first. If that fails, then, surround the suspects and neuter them either by taser or takedown

You're smart, my guy.

If I may chip in something here. Sometimes when no amount of persuasion or warnings work on a belligerent person cops have no other option than to use force.

Ok, here's the scenario here. They were cop killers, & they were considered armed & dangerous. The cops orders them more than once to lay down on the ground, they refused. what would you have the cops do under this scenario? walk up to them, knowing fully well they might be armed & dangerous? Nobody wanted to take such risks on a supposed cop killer. Also, how long were you expecting the cops to wait for them to comply?. Since they were never going to comply, what were you expecting the cops to do, hold hands & sing Kumbaya?

The lady cop who shot Queen might have misfired, but what about Slim? why was he so stubborn, why didn't he just lay still.
The fact is that, they both wanted to go out that way, that was why they did what they did.
I'd only choose to see it as racial brutality if they complied and was shot still.

If a perp refuses to comply but is unarmed, the law stipulates a law enforcement officer must utilize de-escalation techniques, which entails, using verbal persuasion for the primary purpose of convincing a perp to surrender voluntarily.

When verbal persuasion doesn't work, then cops are allowed to use minimal force to force the perp to comply. This is when tasing or pepper splaying the perp is necessary.

Cops are only allow to use fatal force if/when a perp is carrying, and is not complying to directives.

The Lincoln Lawyer (2011)

An oncreen adaptation of one of Michael Connelly's 31 novels. Introducing Mickey Haller, a criminal defense attorney. Mickey is as streetwise as any of the criminals he had defended. He's also half-brother to Detective first class, Harry Bosch, Micheal Connelly's mainstay cum principal Hero. Folks that follow Amazon Prime's Cop drama, Bosch, will know what I'm talking about.

Mickey Haller can hustle with the best of them. Hence when a rich client came calling, claiming to be innocent of the crime he's been accused of, thus ensued a tale of deceit, betrayal, and the search for truth, and payback.

It's a very regaling, suspense-filled and twisty legal thriller. Mathew McConaughey put in a slam dunk performance worthy of the Oscars. He certainly brought Mickey Haller from the novels to life. The intense stares, the cocky half smiles, the charm, the deadpan expressions.

Lastly, A big shout out to Mickey's Lincoln Navigator. As an admirer of mint vintage cars, the vehicle is fine asf.

Killing Helen is a way of permanently binding the Byrdes to the Cartel, there is no going back.

Then the more profound message; "Play fast and loose with me, and your family is gonna end up like Helen."

Alpha Dogs (2006)

Going into this film, I had no conception of what it was about, only that it was predicated on a true story. The story that unfolded before my peepers last night is not one I'm likely to forget anytime soon.

The acting is commendable, considering the cast is mostly young men with little to no experience. There were lots of depth to the characters and inspired performances.

Do yourself a favour and go see this film, don't just watch some of it then dismiss it as crap, give it a chance and at the cessation of it, you will be thanking me. It was a cunning script and plenty of visuals to keep a viewer enticed.

Oga, go and ask your 15 year old nephew who Cannavaro is and ask who david Beckham is

All this your foolish emotional blackmail about Cannavaro cant work on me. If I could pull Cannavaro out of all players to make a point, shouldn't that tell you about my deep knowledge of football?

I didnt mention Henry, Ronaldinho, Zidane....I went to Cannavaro....just think

Lol, using Cannavaro to make your case, when there are people like Modric, shows you don't know anything about football. Go and sleep.

With Cannavaro's awards why is he not being remembered now unlike david Beckham who has less awards personally?

Nigga, it's obvious you don't follow football, The guy is a living legend in Italy and the rest of the world. The first defender to win a Balon D'or in over a decade, and you had the gumption to insult him? You deserve a slap, noob.

That is crap and you know it.

If you read my previous comments, you would see that I made mention of cultural and iconic moments.

Why haven't we forgotten Marýlin Monroe? She was a sex icon. It is not by winning awards. I have never even watched any of her movies. Just pictures and references to her.

Canavaro won world cup and best player. Many teenage football fans barely know him. Beckham that has never won world cup or even smelt best player in Europe is more relevant than Cannavaro.

Pffft!

Marilyn Monroe is remembered for having sexual relations with the Kennedy brothers. Without the Kennedys, her name will be irrelevant.

It's obvious you're a football novice, else you'd know Canavaro is a legend, and is touted as one of the best defenders to have played the game. In 2006, He timestamped his name in the history books, and people that matter will remember him 50-100 years from now.

Beckham is a national icon and one of the best dead ball takers in the history of football. his name will always come up whenever dead ball topics are been discussed.

Triangle 2009

After a terrible accident at sea, a woman finds out that she is in a time loop. The movie follow our protagonist as she tries best to "play her role" in the time loop, break free and return to her child.

The movie has a good setting, the cinematography is OK and the acting is great. The movie is also kinda bloody so I guess it's a horror?

It also handles the concept of time loops in a less generic way. Since the advent of Groundhog day, movies that are about time loops usually follow the same generic formula, but it's thrilling to see this movie take a different route.

The best way to to describe Triangle is a mindfuck.
There's a shroud of mystery on where the characters we are watching are, why the time loop exists or even if the event happening is real.
The ending however is open for interpretation. For instance, I believe that the time loop is not real and that the protagonist was dead the whole time.

This movie gets a solid 8/10 from me. Try and watch it if you can.

Triangle is not a mindfuck, nigga.

Mindfuck is a film that messes with your head and leaves you more confused than you were prior to starting the film. Shutter Island is a mindfuck, Donnie Darko is a mindfuck.

Triangle is very easy to understand. A woman is trapped in a temporal paradox, the end.

A Producer Guild Award is a micky mouse award. Golden Globes is nowhere as prestigious as the Oscars. Nah bruv, Tom Cruise hasn't won the big one yet.

Does the name Cary Grant ring a bell to you? I bet it doesn't. Grant once upon a time was the 2nd most popular actor in Hollywood, unfortunately, he retired without winning any major awards. Today, no one remembers him, and it hasn't even been 100 years yet.

People are remembered more for personal achievements, than high grossing films. Zoe Saldana has starred in 3 highest grossing films in the history of hollywood, and yet, she's still relatively unknown. Why? She has no personal glory to her name. These are facts.
