Btw, Teeo's friend must have been pretty desperate for some yellow garri, that's why he added palm oil while preparing the eba. Normally Igbo people add the palm oil while preparing/frying the raw cassava flour or whatever that's used in making garri

Alosiby, you know nah, btw I've figured out your real name, I heard the name for the first time last month (at nysc camp) and I just love the sound of it, there's a variation of the name that also has a 'u' in place of the 'I', I love both names and the girls I saw bearing them were both cute.

About the white garment, Teeo is still stalking this thread, the moment he leaves, I'd tell you that I saw too many white garment churches in Yoruba land o. Infact when Molly and I went to a fastfood, the whole place was filled with white garment! And I kinda got the impression (or maybe someone told me) that you guys have a whole number of them white garment churches. (No offence to white garment churchers o, I'm not saying anything is wrong with your church o, I'm just not interested in white garment at the moment)lolzzz

ℓ☺ℓ, I love Yellow garri. If I wanted to eat something white, I'd eat pounded yam or fufu nah, but if I have to eat garri, then it's rightfully supposed to be yellow. I get the hype about Ijebu garri btw, it's sweet to drink, but just for drinking o, when it comes to eating, I want it yellow yellow yellow.

But Yoruba people mix garri in their beans, what's that one for nah, if they so wanted the garri white, why mix it in something like beans!

I am still surprised that you would think I hate Yoruba people sha, my CRUSH is Yoruba for godsakes, how can I single out a whole tribe and hate them? Ok I accept I'm curious about them and I enjoy having fun with all the stereotypes attached to Yoruba people, and I wish I could promise to stop now, but I enjoy it too much to stop now, especially since I'd be spending the whole year with them, besides I see people poke at Igbos all the time, it's just funny, nothing else attached.

I've heard a lot about them, and I'm in Dubai to either confirm or debunk them, so don't get worked up so soon, cuz I've got loads of Yoruba people stories coming-no hate attached!

And what I said about not wanting to go back to Yoruba people's land, that wasn't even part of it. I just didn't want to say Dubai so that new readers might know that the place I refer to as Dubai, is really not Dubai, and I didn't wanna name the place too. And the reason I don't wana go back yet is cuz I don't have a house there yet, and life there for now is just stressful. I wasn't even looking for trouble when I said that one.

As for saying I support GEJ, I think you should meet up with Tgirl so that you guys could start up an association of people that read from the back.

I've read Seffi Attah's Everything good will come. I loved reading about the protagonist's growing up, you might like it too. Hated her once she grew up anyway!

You could read Pa Ikhide's blog for regular reviews of Nigerian novels. Google the name and link to his blog!

Ok, I get now, and I agree with you. I also complained about something like that early in my diary when I read her first book. I feel like she Westernises parts of her book, and pretends that that's how it happens in Nigeria just to be able to sell her book abroad. Like I really hated the part in Purple Hibiscus where she said something like curry being put in soup! Who puts curry in soup in Nigeria biko nu? Or maybe I didn't get the memo! But I still love her sha, she really is creative and still one of my very bests!

Yeah I love African literature, I almost got 'I do not come to you by chance' last time I was in a bookshop, but my friend dissuaded me o, saying he has the e-copy of it and would e-mail it to me. Now he says it's too large to be sent in an e-mail. Smh!

I'm a huge fan of nigerian literature....I guess I'm a bit biased towards the female writers and recently go for the modern looking ones..(in case you don't know, i like to judge a book by its cover and so the more pretty and put-together it looks, the more likely I am to read it)...My favourite book, however is "I do not come to you by chance" by Adaobi tricia Nwaubani...It had me on the floor....#good read

I got half of a yellow sun (Chimamanda Adichie) for my birthday...not bad, not bad..but don't understand her need to sexualise most of the book...

I had a phase a few years back where i was 'disproving Achebe"- Yep! I was on a mission to understand why his and his alone, was the only book to be read the world over and given tons of recommendations in literature and the like....so I read as many authors as I could before reading "things fall apart"-and ate my words....That book is a good write..it put me to shame..the way he describes everything is so vivid and detailed...
