pazienza: Diversity has played more role in Nigeria than religion. The civil war, which is the biggest event in Nigerian history was a diversity issue.Diversity might have played a part in the civil war, but the war was majorly caused by politics. Politics and bad policies have been the major cuase of enmity among Nigerians. Diversity, in itself, is not evil. The use of it through propanganda and the divide-and-conquer tactics of our leaders is what's EVIL. |
Ceasar1: The bolded is my point. How can you actively conclude that diversity is the bane of hatred in Nigeria when Religion has played a big role in the animosity? diversity has been proven to work a la US so you cant just conclude it is bad for us. |
Ceasar1: No offense, but do you understand what I'm trying to say at all? This is your initial statement --> I'm not a fan of our cultural diversity. It has installed nothing but hatred, division, and distrust amongst Us. We can't function as one because we are all different. So I don't give a damn about it's extinction! Wtcheww!Take note of the bolded. -- We can't function as one because we are different--. And language is one of our many differences in Nigeria, right?. But can we be as diversified as U.S? Almost all nationalities of the world share the suffix - American e.g Nigeria-American, British-American, Korea-American, etc. Most of the world culture converge at this country. Yet, in this country of much diversity, they seem to cohabit peacefully. Somalia, on the other hand, are least diversified. They are majorly of one tribe, speak the language and naturally have the same culture. Yet, they are at each other's throat. They are always fighting and killing each other. Put these two scenarios into mind, and re-read your initial response again. |

So I don't give a damn about it's extinction! Wtcheww!Diversity is not responsible for hatred, division and distrust among us. Somalia has just one tribe - yet they are war torn. US is the most diversified country in the world - do I need to say more? |
Very soon, this man (with his funny cap) will own the whole of Nigeria further strengthening his monopolistic tendencies. |
Bill Gates wrote his first program at the age of 13. |
We knew this before na. We knew our movies + our industry na thrash. We know say we no join for movie matter. But that's not the news. the news is that people wey suppose sabi, wey know better thing film follow join people wey dey do rubbish films. |
Orikinla: There is a classic film produced here in Nigeria in 1926, but never shown in Nigeria. And what will happen if these people stop making films in the next 30 years or so? The young ones are not picking it up and even the old guys are dropping it like a hot iron. Like I said, it's a lost battle, my friend. |
Orikinla: Good.Nah, it's a lost battle. It's only a matter of time |
Martin Scorcese lent his voice to this clarion call recently. And I'm sure Chris Nolan will be down too. He has refused to shoot on digital. |
promire2004: @Op, the movie "half of a yellow sun" was diplomatically scripted to avoid every form of sentiment from the warring tribes. It was acted based on the stories of the novel. Personally, I admired Chimamanda Adichie's impeccable choice of words. I loved the role of Chiwetel Ejiofor, a university lecturer. His description in the novel matched his personality in the movie. I expected to see a not-so-pretty Kainene, but I was a little disappointed because the movie character was way prettier than I expected. Kainene seemed to harbor some resentment against her sister in the novel, but she showered her sister with so much love in the movie, (forgiving her wrongs). The most touching aspects of the movie for me were the scenes at the airport (killings of the ibos by the hausa soldiers). The painful loss of friends and family members. Nothing was said about Ugwu's sick mother in the movie. In all, I had fun watching the movie at the cinema. It was so touching. Thandie Newton looked so fragile and vulnerable. Genevieve played the role of the sharp-mouthed Ms Adebayo impressively.I'm going to see the movie solely because of Kainene. One of the best characters to ever come out of a Nigerian novel in a long time. Her role, if you look at it critically, is the most iconic in the whole novel. Plus she is frakking independent. Mild Spoilers Ahead Revolutionary Lover was a closetted tribalist. I couldn't forgive Ugwu for the rape. Olanna was the supporting actress in the world of another person. Kainene, on the other hand, was the lead actor in her world. |
Breaking News! Half of a Yellow Sun marches gallantly to Number 1 spot at the Nigerian Box Office. It beats Marvel's Guardian of the Galaxy (in 2D and 3D), Bad Neighbours, 22 Jump street, Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and Think Like a Man too. This is significant because the huge marvel/disney film Guardians of the Galaxy starring Zoe Saldana, Bradley Cooper and Vin Diesel also got released in multiple viewing formats (2D and 3D), yet Half of a Yellow Sun was a sell out in cinema screens in Ibadan, Abuja, Surulere and Lekki. https://fbcdn-photos-b-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xfp1/t1.0-0/10568917_307856826063910_9053860090919665440_n.jpg https://fbcdn-photos-f-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xpa1/t1.0-0/10526184_307856846063908_9146803104159444235_n.jpg https://fbcdn-photos-e-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-xaf1/v/t1.0-0/q73/s480x480/10527603_307865789396347_4594538298800647323_n.jpg?oh=e0d3a429ab170f628dedbcd625c824f2&oe=544705CD&__gda__=1415157064_b1156639a1c6b3cddd5bd0c63ecac627 |

Nomski0:Dang! You really went around the circus. I re-watched "Some Like It Hot" again recently and Marilyn Monroe made my boxers uncomfortable for almost an hour. |
Nomski0: Yes. I went on a "classic movie" marathon phase and came across it. I was scarred for life. ![]() What other classic did you come across in your journey? |
Nomski0: That character is seriously disliked.Alfred's Hitchcock's The Bird? Long time, Pink Lady |
Why in English, tho? Why not in Bini? There is no way I can relate to any Nigeria epic movie done in English. |
VillageBoi: Where you dey hide siiiiiince? And wetin make you dig up this thread? Horror film dey hungry you?I'm always around o. Pop in here at least twice in a day. Na Prof dig out the thread o. How far you nah? |

Ruchidera: She is still a gift from God take it or you leave it.Then, you wouldn't mind if God blessed you with such gift. Gifts, even. Four or five of such gift? |
All the people praising God here, attributing this error to the greatness of God needs to be ceremonially lobotomized. Many of them with passable faces spend one hour packing a thousand grams of make up on their faces yet they see this monstrosity as a blessing from God... |
You and I need to have a telephone conversation, Prof800. You are still NOT on whatsapp? |
prof800: It is more adviceable to go in the name of an organization. Probably your registered company name. (Say shumuel business solutions ltd). It is called 'packaging'.This is a gold mine as far as advices are concerned. Don't take it lightly. |
SpartanQueen: I really have no idea which it is. About the directors i mean. Please where do I post a missing person report on Nairaland? Which section? It's urgent!Nairaland/General |
SpartanQueen: yeah. There are some new characters. The OAP from season 1(Obi) was replaced by O.C Ukeje. That's great. The former dude's acting is too fake. Ironic, нυн. SpartanQueen: The acting has been better than Season 1 generally. I just finished Episode 3.Perhaps, they have a better director now or they are better motivated. |
SpartanQueen: So who has started watching Gidi Up season 2?I've downloaded the first two episodes already. Just too busy to watch them at the moment. Any new characters? |
