While I will not want to apportion or trade blames, Nigeria is fast sinking into a state of anarchy. The security situation across the entire country is at its lowest ebb. Rightfully so, no real economic growth can take place under such conditions and the administration is not helping matters either. The worst for me is that we have been so polarized along ethnic and religious lines through sectional leadership and nepotism. With each group nursing deep dotted resentment towards the other. If care is not taken, this ills cannot be corrected in a life time. 2 Likes |

This is a serious country where human exist. A country where they are no Christians or Muslims, but most of them fear God and are guided with a heart for humanity. Or where a tribe does not arise to arrogate to themselves a status of royal and supremacy without nothing to offer. This is not a place where the worst of men are imposed on the rest of men because of religion or tribe. Nor is it a country where men prefer to bath and dine in muddy water because their kin is in power not because life is better. This is neither the place where the hunter is afraid as well as its game or a place where everyone is the prey and can also be a hunter. It is not even a place whereby time is not of value, its not a place where years are spent in try to convince a group that learning is good and brings out the best in you. It is not a place where scare resources are squandered and effort wasted in a bid to make people realize that herders and farmers are both in the same noble trade of providing food for their brothers and not a land grabbing conquest. lilfreezy:Exactly! The Fulani's brought these on themselves. Stataments from the likes of El rufai, Sanusi and sultan of sokoto amongst others have not helped their cause. There is general hatred for them and their trade. I know of people who have refused to eat cow meat just because of their disdain for these folks. The time is very near when the Fulani's will become endangered specie, a time when they will not be able to openly roam around because they are seen as the problem of the masses. That is what Obasanjo's letter is trying to say, that is what happens to a group of people when their leaders stupidly wants to use the instruments of the state to advance them and a selfish agendas. cruzydal:I will NEVER fix my money in any Nigerian bank. They dont support SMEs and their interest rate is crazy. If Nigerian commercial banks were kind towards SMEs and start up, China will have nothing on us. The microfinance banks that should have fixed this problem has no structure and credibility. Hence small business and in coma or in the hands of sherlock undertakers also known as money lenders. |

Not just the bandits, herdsmen or even boko haram children. The northern children needs to be properly educated. If this is not done, Nigeria will never know peace. If this crop of kids and the almajiris are educated, most of the security situation with northern Nigeria colouration will be eliminated. Education of the northern kids hold the promise of also immense socio economic benefit to the region and the country at large. If the current trend of out of school children continue, the long term negative implication can only be imagined. |
