Read what Pa Ikhide wrote below..... "In March 2015, the correct decision was to elect Buhari to replace a failed Jonathan administration whose profligacy threatened the very survival of the country." "Unlike Fayose, Buhari/APC pivoted cleverly away from the populist promises they made during the last election and have gotten away so far with modulating or outright breaking several of these promises while embracing, however slowly and costly, a more pragmatic economic course." - Moses Ochonu Facebook posts, 06/24/2016 Hmmm. From my often stated perspective, Goodluck Jonathan was unfit to be president of Nigeria, but Muhammadu Buhari is even more unfit to be president. Nigeria did not deserve these two bumbling characters. However, it was extreme poor judgment to have left Jonathan for Buhari. Those that sold the dummy to Nigerians knew how inept Buhari is but they were swayed by personal and ethnocentric (Southwest) considerations. The power grab was just that - personal and ethnocentric. We are paying heavily for all that. Jonathan as a leader was inept but he had people around him who knew what they were doing. We counseled agitation for structures of accountability, we begged that we should not move from one latrine to the other and no one would listen. The APC made fantastic promises that were just that - fantastic. The APC has failed to, not decided to, fulfill them. There is no ability, indeed no capacity for strategic thinking on their part. Buhari and the APC have wrecked whatever semblance of structure and processes they met on the ground and the looting continues. Who really believes we had a choice in the devaluation of the Naira? Instead of hiring seasoned professionals, Buhari has surrounded himself with his clansmen, shallow and poorly educated social media overlords, clueless Diaspora PhD vuvuzelas and petty crooks. I mean, why is Amaechi a minister? He should be in jail! Why is Kemi Adeosun a minister? She should be in a classroom, being taught! Let us not sugarcoat our circumstances, we are in a hot mess. Hopefully, we have all learned a lesson. You cannot run a country on bullshit.

1. After reading in the national newspapers and online platforms of the planned charges of forgery and conspiracy preferred against the Senate President, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, his Deputy, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, immediate past Clerk of the National Assembly, Alhaji Salisu Maikasuwa and the Clerk of the Senate, Mr. Ben Efeturi and reviewing the circumstances leading to the filing of these charges, we are compelled to alert the good people of Nigeria and the international community, that our democracy is in danger and that the attempt by the Executive Arm of the Federal Government to muzzle the legislature and criminalise legislative processes in order to cause leadership change in the National Assembly is a return to the era of impunity and lack of respect for due process which we all fought to abolish. 2. We urge President Muhammadu Buhari to please call his Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Mr. Abubakar Malami, to order. The Senate of the Federal Republic voted freely to elect its leadership into office and continuing attempts to change that leadership through the wanton abuse of judicial processes cannot stand in the eyes of the world. It is clear that the Attorney General and party leaders behind this action either lack the understanding of the underlining principles of constitutional democracy, the concept of Separation of Powers, checks and balances and parliamentary convention or they just simply do not care if the present democracy in the country survives or collapses in their blinded determination to get Saraki and Ekweremadu by all means necessary, including abuse of office and sacking the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. 3. The Nigerian people have enough economic hardship at this time requiring the full attention and cooperation of the three arms of government, instead of these attempts to distract and politicise governance. We are in a state of economic emergency such that what the National Assembly needs at this time are executive bills and proposals aimed at resolving the crises of unemployment, currency depreciation, inflation, crime and insecurity. What the National Assembly needs now are executive bills to build and strengthen institutions to earn revenues, fight corruption and eliminate waste. Instead, we are getting hostile actions aimed at destabilising the National Assembly, distracting Senators from their oversight functions and ensuring good and accountable governance. 4. We must make it clear here to the individuals in the Executive arm and party leadership behind these plots not to mistake the maturity and hand of co-operation being extended to the Presidency by the legislature as a sign of weakness. The National Assembly bent backwards to accommodate various infractions and inefficiencies in pursuit of inter-arms co-operation and national interest. We did not follow up the various infractions because we believe there are bigger issues which the government has to attend to in order to ensure that every Nigerian have food on his table and live confortably in a secure environment. We know that the country is actually in a state of economic emergency and all hands must be on deck. 5. This latest plot is directed at forcing a change of leadership in the Senate or, in the extreme case, ground the Red Chamber of the National Assembly. Or how do one interpret a move in which the two presiding officers are being set up to be remanded in Kuje Prison or incapacitated from sitting at plenary through a day-to-day trial on a matter that is purely an internal affair of the Senate. 6. This obviously is a dangerous case of violation of the independence of the legislature, undue and unnecessary interference in the internal affairs of the Senate and blatant abuse of the judicial process. The matter now being criminalised was brought to the plenary of the Senate in session, over a year ago. And because it had no support, it was overruled and roundly defeated in chambers. To now take a matter that was resolved on the floor of the Senate to the police and then make it form the subject of a criminal prosecution of freely elected legislators beats all imagination of free thinking men all over the world. The implication is that any matter that fails on the floor of the National Assembly will now be taken to the Police, thereby endangering every Senator and House member. This current move clearly runs contrary to the Doctrine of Separation of Powers and Checks and Balances which are fundamental to the successful operation of the Presidential System of government. It runs counter to the principle outlined by the Supreme Court in the Adesanya Vs Senate case where it was held that nobody should seek to use the courts to achieve what he or she has failed to push through on the floor of the National Assembly. 7. This present efforts, therefore, is clearly a coup against the legislature with the ignoble aim to undermine its independence and subject the law making institution to the whims and caprices of the executive. It is a plan to return Nigeria to the dictatorial era which we have, as a nation, voted to reject. It is a dangerous trend with grave implications for the survival of our democracy and the integrity of the component institutions. This rule of men as against the rule of law is also the reason why the War Against Corruption, one of the cardinal objectives of the present administration, is losing credibility because people perceive it to be selective and, in most cases, aimed at settling political or partisan scores. 8. The Rules of the Senate and how the institution elects its leadership are internal affairs. The Rules of a new Senate are provided by the National Assembly bureaucracy. It has always been so since 1999. After the inauguration of the Senate, if Senators have objections to any part of the Rules, they can follow the procedure for changing it. Senators of the Eighth Senate have no control on the rules applied in the elections of June 9, 2015 because until after their inauguration, they were only Senators-elect, and therefore mere bystanders in the affairs of the Senate. 9. We therefore urge all Nigerians and the International Community to rise up and condemn this blatant attempt to subject the legislature to the control, whims and caprices of the executive. If the Legislative branch falls, democracy fails as there will be no other institution empowered by the Constitution to check and balance the enormous powers of the Executive branch. We also call on the judiciary as the last hope to save our constitutional democracy and stand up for the rule of law, by doing that which is right in this case. Signed Senator Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi Chairman, Senate Committee on Media and Public Affairs June 19, 2016. Source: http://www.trezzyblog.com/2016/06/forgery-case-unconstitutional-violation.html |

Troops of the 155 Task Force Battalion, on Wednesday, carried out a swift clearance operation at Kircha Dungus village and surrounding environment. Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman, the Acting Director, Army Public Relations said.... “During the operation, the troops encountered pockets of the Boko Haram terrorists in which they killed 4 of them, while few others fled leaving behind 4 women and a child. The troops have rescued and evacuated them for screening and further rehabilitation.” “While checking the general area, the troops further discovered a pair of military desert camouflage uniform and a Boko Haram terrorists’ flag hoisted in the village. They also recovered a generator set and water pumping machine. “Similarly, troops of 7 Division Strike Group Team B, attached to 21 Brigade have braved harsh climatic conditions to also clear 7 villages of Boko Haram terrorists’ presence north east of Kumshe village. “The villages are: Mulfuta, Baibawa, Jenere, Bembem, Maksamari, Bula Kafie and Bula Bodi. “During the advance to Jenere, the troops encountered some Boko Haram terrorists elements that engaged the troops in fierce battle. The troops were able to kill 2 terrorists, wounded several others and continued with their patrol to Jenere-Hausari. “Here, they discovered that the Boko Haram terrorists now evolved new tactics of evading surveillance by drones and aircrafts. They now hide in makeshift camps covered with shrubs. The troops recovered some motorcycles, 2 dane guns, large quantity of foodstuffs stored in a well constructed storage facility and solar panels. “Thereafter, the troops proceeded to Bembem, where the suspected Boko Haram terrorists also laid an ambush for them. It was however cleared successfully although a soldier sustained gun shot wound during the clearance. He has been evacuated and receiving treatment. “The team discovered and rescued some hostages held by the Boko Haram terrorists in the area. Although the patrol team did not encounter any terrorists in Maksamari, they made a very rewarding recovery of an invaluable communication gadget. “Through it, the troops discovered the terrorists new tactics and dispositions. “In a related development, troops of the newly created 8 Task Force Division have commenced operations in earnest. “The formations and units under its command have equally been involved in clearance operations through daily patrols, raids and offensive actions against remnants of Boko Haram terrorists. “It is in line with this that the troops of 153 Task Force Battalion conducted aggressive patrol to Gudusuri, Malalewa, Khadaamari, Rundi and Mugu villages in northern parts of Borno State. Although they did not encounter Boko Haram terrorists in the area, the troops recovered 5 vehicles, 6 motorcycles and 1 Boko Haram terrorists’ flag. “In same vein, some elements of the same unit deployed at the Forward Operation Base (FOB) Old Marte, conducted another patrol to New Marte yesterday to clear suspected remnants of Boko Haram terrorists hiding in the area. “Similarly, troops of 242 Battalion deployed at FOB Gajiganna along with 2 Civilian JTF, went on patrol to Goni Kanuburi village. Here too, no contact was made with the Boko Haram terrorists as they all fled the area. “It was the same story when the patrol team of 242 Battalion deployed at FOB Gajiram, patrolled Galle village. “The troops of 157 Task Force Battalion, 7 Brigade, have also continued to conduct fighting patrols to continue to prevent remnants of Boko Haram terrorists freedom of action or escaping.” Source: http://www.trezzyblog.com/2016/06/troops-carry-out-clearing-operations-in.html

Some elements of Boko Haram terrorists on 6 motorcycles yesterday attacked Kutuva village in which they killed 4 persons and abducted 4 women from the village. Consequently, the local vigilante in Kaya mobilized immediately to the village and trailed the terrorists up to their suspected hideout located somewhere south of Sabon Garin Bale. The vigilantes did their best by engaging the terrorists, unfortunately they escaped into the bush. But the courageous vigilantes destroyed the terrorists camp and recovered all hoisted Boko Haram terrorists’ flags, 3 Fabrique Nationale (FN) rifle magazines, 2 AK-45 rifle magazines and 24 rounds of 7.62mm (NATO) ammunition. The vigilantes also rescued an 11 year old girl who stated that she was abducted by the terrorists from Batha village. Sadly however, the vigilante could not trace the terrorists or the abducted women. However, effort is on going to trace and rescue them. In a related development, a team of local vigilante in Damboa led by Sarkin Yaki Ali Gwoza intercepted some persons along Njaba road, south of Damboa town while on patrol. During preliminary interrogation, they confessed that they were Boko Haram terrorists group members that were compelled to join the insurgency against their will and that they were on their way to Damboa to surrender to the military. They attributed their decision to give up their nefarious activities because continued military onslaught and that life has become hard and unbearable for the terrorists generally. Further screening has confirmed 17 of them as hardened Boko Haram terrorists trying to escape and infiltrate the society. Similarly, a combined patrol team of 7 Division Garrison, 101 Special Forces Battalion and 3 Civilian JTF, while on clearance patrol, intercepted a Golf car with registration number BX 508 RBC, suspected to be carrying suppliers of logistics such as spare parts and Improvised Explosives making Devices materials to Boko Haram terrorists along Kayamla general area Tuesday morning. The suspected suppliers abandoned the vehicle and fled into the bush on sighting the patrol team. The vehicle and its contents has been recovered to nearby military location. Thank you for your usual and kind cooperation. Colonel Sani Kukasheka Usman Acting Director Army Public Relations Source: http://www.trezzyblog.com/2016/06/boko-haram-terrorists-kill-vigilantes.html
