you are right to an extent. However, when a president pardons an Alamieyesegha who escaped from the UK security, appoints a Buruji Kashamu as one of his key campaigners in the West, then questions should be asked. You may not have noticed that the EFCC, ICPC and even NAFDAC are practically existing only in name since he took over.

it is unfortunate that people do not realize that neither Jonathan nor his cohorts will suffer from this, they will easily go abroad to get treated, after all they are known to go abroad just to monitor their blood pressure. We obviously do not understand what this means. Even "simple" things like Caesarian section, removal of cataracts (surgeries generally) etc will be a thing of the past. Why?? because the expertise will not be there. Medical and Dental schools will also be history. Then we will start importing doctors the same way we import rice (this is currently being done in some northern states). Yes, doctors are not ASUU and it is very true that patients die when they down tools. However some things need to be set straight, the demand has nothing to do with an increment in salary. It has more to do with improvement in the quality of the health sector. I have seen operations carried out under the illumination of a Tecno phone.
I have seen cases where ordinary screw drivers were bought from a nearby market to complete a surgery. It is a certainty that power will be interrupted during any average surgery (and people wonder why some surgeries are not done here) . Even cotton wool may be a luxury .......you are a doctor , so you know I am not exaggerating . People are dying already, and more will if nothing is done.

Question: Is a girl of 13 yrs able to take informed decision on her own? If the answer is "yes", then we should allow 13 year olds (M or F) to start driving, voting, seeking elective offices, smoking, taking alcohol etc.

As far as I know the Quran does not say we should get married at 12 or 13 , it simply says when matured. The bible does not specify either; but morals should guide us right.

If we leave it as a decision based solely on what you believe, then there might be a problem too. I am very aware that some traditionalists believe in human sacrifice, should we allow them so long as they are killing their children or those of other traditionalists.

VVF is a poverty disease. if all the 10 year old girls in the US/UK get pregnant today, not a single one of them would have to treat VVF. it's nothing to do with the age or underdeveloped organs. quality medical services in ante/postnatal care in the north would eradicate VVF. grab a book and read!

I think the answer is glaring to all of us. If your religion does not stipulate a particular age for marriage just like christianity and islam do not, then it makes sense to act in the best interest of humanity. What will it cost a 53 year old man with 4 wives to wait four more years for a 12 year old that he claims he loves to attain maturity before marrying her? maturity in this case talks about reducing the likelihood of having pregnancy and birth complications, not the presence of nipples or breast tissue as the case may be. By the way I have seen a 6 year old with breasts (precocious puberty). Please, lets leave religion aside and talk about the impact of early marriage.

abdulkkayus........ I think you should research VVF very well. VVF is a lot more common in the young than in adults. It is simply due to tearing of the wall of the birth canal and/or rectum, thereby producing an unnatural communication.Poverty does not cause these tears, it is simply cause by subjecting the lining to stress that it can not bear.These things are easily available for us to research.

secondly, about age. We should ask ourselves a simple question: Does age have anything to do with maturity? If yes, when do wethink teenagers can make decisions and bear the consequences of such decisions on their own.

Thirdly, I strongly believe that if you trully love a lady/girl as the case maybe, it wont cost you so much to wait for a few more years for her to mature, if only to reduce the risk of VVF, especially a man who has other women to keep him satisfied while waiting.

Please, We should leave US and UK and talk about ourselves, If they perform human rituals in UK, does that make it acceptable to us?? We should just address these issues based on its effect on our society.
