Take consolation in the fact that he has gone to rest with God.
You have raised an important point, though. We should learn to celebrate them while they are still alive. Mine died almost 2 decades ago. I still miss him

I see that you you made a similar post some time ago. I also read your resolution about it the last time. I guess, the measures you deployed did not work. Was there any improvement after the last time?
Why not have a conversation with her and come to a mutual agreement? If you are both open enough, you should be able to identify the problem. Problem identification is a vital step in solving it.
I wish you luck.

You've just said it. I have one right now. She's 5+ though the father has given me a handwritten consent letter, I still want it legal. It's not easy after giving such a child all the best of education you can afford, only for the biological parent to come to claim their rights.

Lol. That happens a lot.
Get a lawyer who knows his/her onions to do the job.
Alongside, train the child to know you as a benefactor, guardian and parent. Some children grow up and start demanding for their parents without acknowledging the efforts expended on them by the adoptive parents.
I fact, I would advise that you just go ahead and adopt the
Child legally

I believe you really want to give your daughter a good start. But, it would be unwise of you to sign papers you have no legal u understanding of.
Get knowledgeable people (preferably lawyers) to read through it before you sign.
Whatever you do, give your child the very best of you, she deserves it.

Your leaders wasted your wealth, leaving you without basic infrastructure.

China was ready to lend you money to treat the F*ck up of your leaders but made sure that your leaders won't do to their money what they did to your money.

Yet some Nigerian are yarning opata. The funny thing is that even young Nigerians are not bothered that Nigeria in 2020 has no functional train transportation routes. Yet, when time the for election comes, they will get Atikulated or Sarakified.

Look, if China gives any country money to build a facility and then it fails to repay, it is only natural that they will take over the facility like our own AMCON does and run to recover their money and interest. At least, the facility is in the country, providing jobs. There is price to be paid for stupid visionless leadership.

The matter don tire me.
We complained that our politicians steal the money; they devised a way to cut them off by having the Chinese govt deliver the project directly.
Despite this, we still complain.

Even within the christians there is war, not to talk of inter-religion wars and banters of Christians and Muslims. Durning the 16th century, Catholics and Protestant churches killed each other with a death of above 8 million people across Europe in a war called THE THIRTY YEAR WAR. That's what religion is known for. Religion is a scam.

I believe that you also know that there are few religions without sects, who believe slightly different things from other sects in the same religion.
Islam, christianity, Buddhism etc , all have variants. You must also be aware of the age long war between the Sunnis and the Shia.

ignorance! yes ignorance.
I good Muslim will never think of harming a Christian except if the later initiates such.
I don't hate Christians as a Muslim but I don't like their attributess to God.
imagine referring a human being as your God or son of God, it's totally illogical...
it's just like we human beings and the robots we created... those robots can never be like us...
sincerely speaking a Christian who doesn't believe in One God and Jesus as a messenger of God just like Moses and Joseph is in a deep shit!
I know a quranic verse pointing to the fact that a Christian or Jew who believe in God and practice monotheism is a believer.
but this trinity thing is a shit, that's why a like the view of the Jehovah witness

I am happy that you do not hate Christians. I ope you don't hate adherents of other religions too. They al have a right to believe whatsoever they wish, so long as they do not harm others cause societal values to decay.
Mind you, what you call illogical, is what some believe and what you believe seems illogical to others.
The same way you have tenets that tell you that the last prophet is Mohammed, is the same way some others have books telling them that Jesus is the son of God
Just live and let live.

Hey guys, I've been having this thought and wonder what would be the cause for xtians and islam to be at loggerheads when both their holy book have same stories, same characters just different namesbby language.
Going through my quran it talks about mary, jesus, abraham etc and I wonder why majority have enmity for each other.

Your input needed.

It is the same factor that causes any other inter religious fight. Same thing is responsible for wars between various sects of the same religion.
Each individual believes that his own way is the only right way and that every other person is wrong.
And when you ask why he/she holds such beliefs, they refer to a book that was written thousands of years ago, or to a story that has been passed down generations. Now, how do we know which is exactly right?
Additionally, most of us only say God is all powerful, we don't really belong it. If we did, we wouldn't be fighting on behalf of the same God, using our man made weapons and killing or maiming others. Why not allow the all powerful God to fight his battles?
Why are we helping him, when he is the one to help us?
Many of us lack tolerance and we are completely carried away by thoughts that we are better than the other, when truly we are not.

Is the new law made to tax your data or tax the companies making money from Nigeria? If Nairaland is paying taxes in Nigeria, why should Facebook, Netflix, Twitter etc not pay taxes from the revenue made in Nigeria?

Are these companies paying taxes in Europe or not? So, why should they not pay taxes in Nigeria despite generating income from the country?

Will the next government not benefit from the tax reforms that the current government is carrying out? Must you guys criticize everything?

See, this new law is long overdue. It should have been in place a long time ago.

The problem is that the tax laws are being made and implemented by APC and PMB. Some people will never view their strategies objectively. Never!!!

Good day, after going through a lot of back and forth within myself I finally decided to put my story out there. This is not in a bid to garner sympathy but in the hope that my story could help someone get out of a similar situation.

Growing up as a young lady in Nigeria is quite difficult especially one who receives a lot of male attention. I experienced a lot of abuse while growing up. I was beaten, fingered, molested and harassed as early as age 4. At a point I tried to speak up but I wasnt believed so I became accustomed to it and didnt bother to mention it

A friend of his saw us and came up to us and asked me to just hear the guy out. I finally agreed because I was so exhausted and drained. They both suggested that I and the guy go and talk in his friends room which was just across the road. I agreed and we went in, I sat on the bed and listened. This guy proceeded to kneel and beg me to date him, I agreed just so he would let me be.

The next thing I knew was that he had jumped on me and started groping me. I struggled, cried and pleaded with him but he didnt stop. He went on to rip my trousers open and pull off my panties. I struggled furiously and even tried to screamed but that earned me some dirty slaps. I felt defeated. All I could think of was how much I hated the helplessness I felt which was so similar to what I felt as a child.

Suddenly, a thought popped into my head about a rape survival story I had seen a while back, I decided to try it out. I stopped struggling and just acted calm, I guess he took that as good sign and stopped hitting me. He held my two hands with his one hand and used the other to pull down his trouser. He then began to rub himself on me, I prayed and made a split second decision. I pulled my knee up and hit him in the balls as hard as I could before he could recover I pushed him off, jumped up and began to scream as loud as I could, I carried a standing fan which was close by and smashed every single thing I could in the room. People came rushing in and that's how I was saved. It was so crazy that a guy had to help me with something to cover up because I didn't even realize that I was naked from the waist down.

A few years later, I had my second near-rape encounter. One night while going to the hostel after seeing a friend, I was accosted by a security personnel. He claimed that I was out too late and he would have to take me to the security office, I was surprised because that was around 9pm and there were still other people around so I argued with him, a colleague of his intervened and insisted that I follow them to the security office.

I agreed to go but I kept my distance from them. While walking, the security officer suddenly pushed me into a dark corner, pressed himself against me and began to tell me all the things he was going to do to me for arguing with him. I began to struggle and cry, I couldn't believe this was happening again. He tore my gown open and then my panties. When I tried to cover myself, he slammed my head and hands against the wall with such force that my wristwatch broke.

Once again faced with a situation I felt helpless to do anything about, I calmed myself down and said a silent prayer. I then began to pet him. I told him I wanted this too but it was all to sudden, he didnt listen to me at first but went on to pull down his trousers he then tried to penetrate me but i kept begging him that we should please hold off a bit
me

Despite years of abuse, these two events helped me see that I didnt have to always be a victim but that I can also be a victor. I was not as helpless as I thought.

The major point I would like to point out from my story is that aggression is not always the best option, often at times we can fight these rapists by being calm and rational. I went on to watch rape survival stories and realized that so many rape survivors avoid being raped, killed or further harmed by trying to reason with their attackers.

Also, allowing an attacker feel that he is in control can give one the opportunity to take him unawares and take back control. Being angry, fighting back, insulting him or threatening to expose him when the opportunity comes can just lead to more violence or him even going as far as trying to shut you up permanently.

I salute your courage for dropping this post. In a world where some people feel entitled to the bodies of others and believe they should help themselves to it any time they feel an urge to do so, ot is definitely tough to post such experiences.

I'm surprised that folks like you kinda see this as not meaning much but it's in sharp contrast to your reaction to the topic of this meaningless inconsequential thread!

Again NPA and NIMASA are two federal government maritime agencies and are also headed by northerners!!!!

The south own the crude, the south own the coast but the north is seating on their resources!!!!

Time shall come.

You don't seem to have read my response. It's clearly written that I think that is unfair. But, when presenting such, we should present facts and not lies, or facts laced with lies.
My point, for the sake of clarity, is that having such distribution of heads of parastatals is wrong, but so also is presenting lies as the truth.
Note that my response was to the post that the top 20 posts in NNPC is entirely held by certain people when that's an outright lie. The facts are right on the NNPC website, take a few minutes to check it. The information will do us all some good.

Nobody is talking about subsidiaries, nobody is talking about sub positions who are errand pigeons, who takes orders from the top boss.

We are talking about federal government petroleum agencies, NNPC
DPR
PPPRA
PPMC
PTDF.

can you kindly point out which of these in the entire country is/are headed by a southerner?

The maritime agencies are Nimasa and NPA,who heads them?

We are waiting.
Wenediali imhotep bskyb justformen

Your response was well articulated and devoid of abusive or condescending language and I appreciate that, if it had been otherwise, I would have just kept my peace.
Yes, you are right. The geographical/ethnic distribution of the heads of those agencies/parastatals is skewed. However, my point was that the post I responded to was embellished with some falsehood. Already, someone responded to this so I don't think I need to go into that.
The post exhibits some cherry picking because it neglects the other positions held by members of other ethnicities.
It has become a norm for people to post some truths and then add lies to it to make it more striking; even mainstream media do this. People can post the truth and the truth alone.
In summary, the original post which I responded to highlighted the Northern occupiers of certain posts, while keeping mum on those occupied by the southerners, thus making it look like there are no Southerners in NNPC top management.

Lies! Lies! Lies! Lies! All Muslim top 20 executives in NNPC?

But sadly, some people will believe it.

At the top of the NNPC company structure(the 5 Autonomous Business Units (ABUs), there are 3 Southerners.

COO, Ventures and Business Development Directorate - Roland Onoriode Ewubare
COO, NNPC Downstream - Lawrencia Nwadiabuwa Ndupu
COO, NNPC Upstream - Adeyemi Adetunji

MDs of some NNPC subsidiaries that are from the South

Catherine Ngozi Iheme (MD NETCO)
Babatunde Bakare (MD NGPTC)
Ada Oyetunde (MD NPSC)
Sir Billy Okoye (MD NNPC Retail)
Christiana U. Onabu (MD NIDAS)
Diepriye Tariah (MD IDSL)
Ezekiel Osarolube (Kaduna Refining and Petrochemical Company)

Some GGMs of Divisions

Kennie Obateru (GGM Public Affairs)
Adokie Tombomieye (GGM Crude Oil Marketing)
Bola Afolabi (GGM Research & Development Division)

Even if you put up their birth certificates and you get letters of attestation that those people are southerners people will still refuse to believe. Watch as they disregard your post. They will not quite you and if they do, they will hurl insults at you and make statements without any proof. They will say things like "if you know you know" as of that's evidence that they are right.

Simply put, they want anything that propagates their beliefs and they don't care whether it's falsehood or not.
So, take heart, be strong and keep up your good works, but don't expect much from detractors

Whenever we complain about racism, let's remember that ethnocentricm and ethnic supremacy at the expense of all others is even worse.
A racist caucasian calls Black Africans monkeys, the "monkey" in turn feels superior and calls a fellow "monkey" a cow. Very wise indeed. That's exactly the way to develop and have harmony. Well done to all those doing this. One day, I hope we all wake up and realise no one gains from these insults.

Intelligent response. Seeing responses such as this is refreshing.
We all claim to be the only person with the true knowledge. They ask us why we are so sure of this and we say it is written in our books. Now, most of the religions have books, most have prophets, priests or leaders of theirs. Based on these claims, we fight among ourselves, we kill and maim; To make matters worse, some people claim their God is the all powerful, yet they fight on his behalf (what an Irony!!).
Make I go follow you sef.
