Politics / Re: German Chancellor Olaf Scholz Visits Yoruba Cultural Centre In Lagos by bskyb(m): 6:30pm On Oct 31, 2023
aQUINandmore:

As someone from Edo, I find myself drawn to the Yoruba culture of Nigeria. It's not just a fascination; it's a deep appreciation and love that I hold for what I consider to be the most beautiful culture in Africa. It might seem unusual for me to have such an affinity for a culture outside of my own, but there's something truly special about the Yoruba heritage that captivates my heart.

The Yoruba culture is a tapestry of history, a masterpiece of traditions that have withstood the test of time. It's like a living museum of Africa's past, present, and future. I can't help but be entranced by its richness and depth.

What stands out most is the way Yoruba culture weaves together a complex fabric of language, spirituality, art, and community. The Yoruba language is like a dance, with its melodious flow and expressive words that seem to carry stories within each syllable. It's a language that can paint a picture with its very pronunciation.

Their spiritual beliefs are equally captivating. The Yoruba pantheon of gods, the Orisha, is a fascinating blend of mythology and reverence. The intricate rituals, divinations, and ceremonies that honor these deities are nothing short of mesmerizing. I admire the profound connection they maintain with their ancestors, believing that the spirits continue to guide and protect them.

Yoruba artistry is a realm of wonder. The Adire and Aso-oke textiles are not merely fabrics; they are works of art. Each pattern and motif tells a story, preserving their history and heritage in threads. The intricate beadwork, the stunning masks, and the sculptures are a testament to the incredible talent and creativity of the Yoruba people.

Music and dance are like the heartbeats of the Yoruba culture. The talking drums, the rhythms of Sango, and the energy of Ogun's dance, all come together to create a unique and exhilarating symphony. Their festivals, like the Eyo and Osun, are a spectacle of color and joy, a testament to the celebratory spirit that runs through their veins.

What's most striking is the strong sense of community and family in the Yoruba culture. I, from Edo, can't help but appreciate the way they embrace one another, the warmth in their interactions, and the strength of their bonds. They place great importance on names, known as "Oruko," and I admire how they cherish their ancestors and carry their legacies forward through generations.

It's worth noting that my love for Yoruba culture does not diminish my love for my own Edo heritage. Rather, it serves as a testament to the beauty of diversity in Nigeria. We are a tapestry of cultures, each offering something unique and beautiful. The Yoruba culture, in all its magnificence, adds vibrancy to the mosaic of our nation.

So, as someone from Edo with a deep admiration for the Yoruba culture, I can't help but celebrate their traditions and their profound impact on Nigeria and Africa as a whole. The Yoruba culture, with its language, spirituality, art, and sense of community, is a treasure that enriches us all.

You write so beautifully. It is refreshing to see posts such as this.

That said, the history of the Yorubas and Edo people is quite intertwined.

How do I track a package that is being sent back to applicant?

Thanks

Abeg, how did you get them to send back, because, i don chat, call and send evidence of return courier and they have not been helpful. Still says on tracker that, i should check "buy services" to use courier ?

Hey,

I paid for it at the point of submission.
I submitted thru courier, so I included the payment receipt for the One-way courier in the envelope along with the passport.

I didn't get to track it eventually as it arrived before I got the information on how to track it.

Send an email to them...they usually respond within 2 biz days

I was sent the email add below as theirs - canadang@vfshelpline.com

You can confirm it

Hello all,

So, I received an email saying that passport has been sent back thru their courier services partner and that it can be tracked on the partner's website.

Firstly, who is their courier partner?

Also, I tried tracking on DHL website using the tracking ID given (the same one used to track progress on VFS site) and it was unrecognized by DHL.

How do I track a package that is being sent back to applicant?

Thanks

Ondo State.

Since it's Ondo state, you can get there via flights. I assume you are probably In Oyo or Osun state. To reduce costs, reduce the number of visits you or your family need to make to your potential in-laws.

With this age of technology, you should be able to compress visits to a Max of 3. For each of the 3, take flights. God with the minimum number of people.

Per the flights, simply go to Lagos, through Abuja, and then to Ondo. (That is, if there are no direct flights to Ondo from Lag).

Also, have you discussed your fears (phobia) with the lady? Have you discussed possible solutions?

It's sad that some people here lack manners, while others are just ignorant. It's even worse that people like you are plagued by both ills.

If you know not, why not ask for directions. It's a double whammy when you know not, know not that you know not, and rather than hide your head in shame, you brandish your ignorance.

#just so that you know. I will not respond to further comments from you.
I rarely respond to this type of posts......I just thought you might benefit from some upbraiding. It may yet not be too late for your redemption.

Thanks very much everyone. I'm still consulting with friends and family, someone suggested I take a study leave from my job instead of resigning outrightly. My wife is a good woman, otherwise I wouldn't entertain the idea at all.

Great idea! You can take up to 4 years if necessary. That also depends on your superior's approval, though. All the best

Immediately, people started racing out of the car as if it was going to explode. It looked like a family returning from a wedding. 4 guys in Asoebi, plus an older woman who was now sitting in shock by the side walk. The guys were hugging each other, and I could imagine, thanking God. I didn't observe any injuries.

The lesson here. Let's keep a safe distance from other cars while driving... This could have easily become a pile up of some sort.

After observing no immediate help was required, as per injuries, I turned on my left-turn signal, merged back onto the highway and left.

END

This is a practice that many Nigerian drivers ignore.
Thanks for the advice.

How will you sack a coach 6weeks to a competition he has qualified the team to?
A coach that has met all targets set before him since he got the job?
I will rate him 8/10 since he was appointed

I thought I was the only one who has this view. This guy is one of the most successful coaches Nigeria has ever had. He came tops of his group, yet they want him to resign because of lacklustre performance.
People have forgotten the time when it was a norm for Nigerians to use calculators to permutate Nigeria's chances of qualifying.

Health / Re: What Do You Call This Toe Injury? Pls Help! (Disturbing Pictures) by bskyb(m): 8:05pm On May 07, 2021
Unknown8:
Hey guys, hope y'all good.

So there's this wound on my big toe, which developed by itself, just like that. I've been suffering this injury for more than a year now.

I've taken many medications and treatments, all to no avail. I've met 4 deferent doctors, who apparently do not know what that is or how to treat it, they just dress it and prescribe some medicine, and that's it.

I just discovered recently that it's an Ingrown Toenail, after some research on the internet. And according to what I read, it needs a surgery to remove the Ingrown Nail, but all the doctors I've met do not know what an Ingrown Toenail is, and they usually tell me that it doesn't need a surgery.

Guys pls, this thing is really painful. I can't even walk properly with it. If you are a doctor here who knows about this, I beg you to not ignore this post

If you have experience something like this or know someone who has, pls tell me how to treated it. Thank you so much.

It will mean a lot if this thread could reach the front page to gain more views. Pls I really need any help I can get. Thank you!

Sorry about that. Hope you are getting a solution now.
It is strange that the doctors you met claim not to know about an ingrown toe nail. It is actually a fairly common occurrence.
I strongly advise that you change the doctors. It will usually require a short procedure after they numb your toe.
Also, it is important that they do an histology of whatever they extract, just to be sure there are no further issues.

If it's an awd, disconnect the propeller, then tow with the front tyres off the ground. Or get a flatbed tow truck that will carry the vehicle with the four tyres off the ground if it's an awd. If it's fwd, tow with the front tyres off the ground. Fail to do this and you will be buying a new trans in lagos.

Thank you

These people have ask d for two main things, education and jobs. Why can't govt look into this? After all, it looks like govt is losing the war.
Why not create large mechanised farms where they can work?
Why not create ranches? Many states in the north have agreed to donate land. Why not start with those willing ones?
Too many questions, few answers.

Nothing must happen to the innocent Fulanis doing their legit business wherever they chose to live in their country, just the same way Igbos and Yorubas live all over the country especially the Northern part of Nigeria doing their legitimate business with no one disturbing them OR abeling them fraudsters and thieves cos of some few ones among them into frauds, duping
innocent people.

The State Governors need to take a solid stand in all the evil herdsmen killings and innocent Fulanis and other
tribes suffering as well.
And against any blood thirsty animal fuelling this arson and chaos.

Enoughis enough.
Any Citizen of Nigeria can choose to live anywhere in Nigeria that they want as long as they respect the rules and regulations governing the Land..... so says Nigeria Constitution.

We Rise...

Unfortunately, people think that the bad fulanis have killed only people of other tribes. Records show that they have killed/maimed more of their own kind or Hausa people more than any other ethnic group in Nigeria.
Why are whole Local governments almost desolate in Zamfara? What about Katsina? Etc.

There is a big problem, bro. "And a King arose, who k ew not about Joseph"- that was the beginning of trouble for Israelites, while they were still in Egypt - A generation that knows little or nothing about the civil war is here. Nigeria also contributed to this, because they refused to teach it in schools, mark the day and have public lectures on it.
Now, people think this is child's play. They have even refused to learn from recent wars, like the Libyan war.
The only people that will profit are the warlords and the merchants of death.
Unfortunately, govt. appears comatose. Injustices have prevailed for so long that people have started taking laws into their hands.
May we never see war. Amen
