laBarca:maybe you need to cross check the roles of the dss again, the last time I checked they are in charge of the internal security matters which included labour matters, it may interest to know tht they have playing a lot roles in averting industrial disharmony in acedemic institutions, companes etc. |
The truth of the is that I don't envy this people, their jobs is very demanding and image making is not as easy as we think. The iron Lady Ogar of the secret police SSS or na DSS all I know say SS dey, is not only charismatic and bold, her oyinbo English and how she presents issues it quiet examplary, thumbs up to all especially Ogar we are proud of as Nigerians. |
At least we still have a country called Nigeria, we may be facing alot of challenged but we are still far better than many countries round the globe, although there is alot of room for improvements. |
A former Inspector-General of Police and Chariman of Police Service Commission, Sir. Mike Okiro, has replied former EFCC Chairman, Nuhu Ribadu over a recent statement credited to him when he said the former police boss was behind two failed assassination attempts on his life and not Ibori. Okiro in a statement released in Abuja described Ribadu as an inveterate liar.” It would be recalled that Ribadu had on Friday in a London court while being cross-examined by both the defence and prosecution during the hearing on the confiscation of assets of former Delta State Governor, Chief James Ibori at the Southwark Crown Court, London. He had described the former IGP as “ a despicable human being; the most corrupt police officer I have ever seen.” Continuing, he said, “He made my life hell. He withdrew my official car and police security.” Reacting to his assertion, Okiro stated that Ribadu’s allegation that he withdrew his official car and police security was far from the truth. He said, “Nuhu Ribadu went on a course at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, NIPSS. He was not posted out of EFCC. His Deputy, Ibrahim Lamorde was acting and holding forth. The vehicle(s) he was using belonged to EFCC where he was Chairman for about six years and could not have been withdrawn by the Police. The policemen he used as his security were those posted permanently to EFCC. “Therefore the Inspector-General of Police had no role in their internal daily deployment. Thirdly, Nuhu Ribadu was on course as Assistant Inspector-General of Police and statutorily had to maintain his paraphernalia of security details. Nigerians will remember that Nuhu Ribadu once caused a newspaper publication to be made to the effect that he was attacked and shot on his way to NIPSS but was saved because he was driving a bullet proof vehicle and the attackers could not stop him. He said that he suspected a retired Inspector-General of Police who had been monitoring him. I was then serving as IGP. “ I was angry that a serving Assistant Inspector-General of Police or even any AIG at all or a VIP, for that matter, was shot at and I was not briefed. I called him several times to give me details but he refused to pick my calls. I then sent signals to Commissioners of Police (CP) FCT Abuja, Nasarawa, Kaduna and Plateau, the likely state commands where the incident could have taken place. They all replied that there was no such incident in their commands. Since I could not reach him, I addressed a press conference where I stated that his claim of attack was false. I took that advantage also to ask him publicly to come up with details of the day and time and where the incident took place. Nuhu Ribadu never came up as directed. For him to turn round now and say that I was involved “in attempts to assassinate him demonstrated the double speak for which he is shamefully known. Lies, lies and lies. He was an Assistant Inspector-General of Police under me. Why must I want to assassinate a subordinate officer? Reacting to Ribadu’s assertion that he was present when James Ibori nominated Okiro to become IGP, Okiro stated that he was appointed on merit and seniority. “Two years ago, after my retirement, Nuhu Ribadu told some of his friends that he did not obey my instructions and directives when I was IGP because he had been pencilled to take over as IGP from IGP Sunday Ehindero and he had been factored and positioned for the office when I came and usurped it, as if I appointed myself IGP or as if he himself is God to determine the course of nature. “He claimed that he regarded me as an interloper who took the position reserved for him and so despised me and whatever I stood for” he added. Okiro who flayed Ribadu’s allegation said he was the most corrupt police officer he has ever seen and wondered why he should denigrate his senior in such manner, asserting that it shows he was ‘indisciplined http://dailypost.com.ng/2013/09/24/ribadu-is-an-inveterate-liar-the-most-corrupt-police-officer-i-have-ever-seen-okiro/ |
Neversaydie: Detaching ourselves from all ethnic, religious and emotional strings and bigotry, of what gain would the killings of the purported innocent Apo squatters would be for the Military and SSS. What is there to cover up, at least there was no claim of accidental discharge, they went for an operation based on intelligence given. Also claims are being perpetuated that the people killed are artisans and nigerians have genuine means of livelihood, yet they chose to live in an uncompleted building, knowing fully well that such avenues are being used as kidnappers den and to orchestrate criminal activities. You just hit the nail on the head, that just how the picture is, we must be not be critical about about what we don't especially when it affects security... |
;DI thugt I was the only one thinking along that line not until I saw this post, the truth of the matter is that we Nigerians are just too emotional whenver something haappens, we tend to align ourselves to emotions other than rationality, terrorism has become global, we in Naija are not safe either, those who have been fighting for us that is, our security agencies who do not have spare lives, are been criticised by some funny characters. Now is the time we need to encourage our security men more than enough, cos na person wei get liver go fight those boko boys who are willing to die at no cause oh..me I don talk my own |
All what the Taraba people want is good governance and peace, not selfish politicians who are struggling for primordial interests, I sympathize with Suntai on how is toss to and fro for political capital |
All i can say is, let us not be quick to judge, only God judges.. |
Let's continue to believe the JTF until Shekau appears to prove otherwise...If it turns out to be true, it will be a major victory to Nigeria... |
It doesn't matter when this statement was made, all i know is that El rual is an epitome of confusion, who doesn't even know what he wants,he is large mouthed at the same time arrogant over his frailties, there is nothing left about El rufai to believe again.. |
Death and life are in the power of the tongue...Keyamo is just a careless man.. |
Former head of state, General Muhammadu Buhari (rtd) has said that only death will separate him from politics and 2015 presidential contest. General Buhari who was the 2011 presidential candidate of the opposition Congress for Progressive Change (CPC) that had just merged into All Progressives Congress (APC) said as long as he lived he would never quit politics.http://sunnewsonline.com/new/cover/2015-only-deathll-stop-me-from-contesting-buhari/ |
Oboy..i thought i am the only one lost in wonderland, i have been following the story keenly, the picture the reports on Premium times painted was as if the video is readily available, does that mean that Boko Haram indulges in propaganda too? Abeg our news people confirm your story before you mislead many... |
As much as i cherish the intellectual prowess of the likes of Lai Mohammed, the APC since its formation appears to be attacking the person of the President GEJ, undoubtedly constructive criticism is good for democracy but one wonders whether criticism will win any vote for the APC, i think they channel all their energies towards making the party popular rather than blowing big grammar on the social media and other channels which largely a mirage. |
Members of the violent Islamist sect, Boko Haram, may soon be dragged to The Hague to face war crimes as the International Criminal Court (ICC) on Monday indicted the sect for crime against humanity for its widespread and systematic murder and persecution of civilians. The report titled “Situation in Nigeria” says there is reasonably basis that since July 2009, the group that aims to spread radical Islam in Northern Nigeria has committed crime against humanity. After this indictment, the ICC says the next step is to assess whether Nigerian government is working on “conducting genuine proceedings in relation to those who appear to bear the greatest responsibility for such crimes and the gravity of such crimes.” The ICC investigation may run into trouble with the Nigerian government, as the federal government has constituted a committee negotiating peace and amnesty with the sect. The ICC, however, has the power to prosecute cases that national courts of signatory nations are unwilling or unable to investigate or prosecute. Nigeria ratified the ICC statute on September 27, 2001 giving the court jurisdiction to over crimes committed within Nigeria from 1 July 2002. The report highlights various attacks on civilian population by the sect. It also described these attacks as systematic and widespread spanning over the entire North Eastern region as well as Plateau, Kogi, Kano, Bauchi and Kaduna States. True to the sect’s aim of Islamising the north, churches were singled out for constant attacks, the report noted. The report also concludes that the planning of this attacks shows they are products of organisational policy therefore qualifying them as crimes against humanity. On the violence in the Niger Delta and confrontation between Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) and security forces, the report says there “does not appear to be a reasonable basis to believe that the alleged crimes committed in the Delta Region could constitute war crimes.” It however says the situation may be revisited in the light of fresh facts and evidence. On alleged crimes committed by soldiers fighting the Boko Haram, while the report acknowledges that serious human rights violations may have been committed, it concludes that they do not constitute crime against humanity. “Information available as of December 2012 does not provide a reasonable basis to believe that the alleged crimes were committed pursuant to or in furtherance of a State or organizational policy to attack the civilian population,” it said. http://premiumtimesng.com/news/142339-icc-indicts-boko-haram-for-crimes-against-humanity.html |
The true of the matter is the the Lebanese suspects have alot questions to answer, i have been following this case for a while, and it has International dimension because of Hezbollah's involvement, last week one of the suspected admitted working for Hezbollah and the evidence is very glaring against the suspects. Now that they are sinking, they are looking for trivial issues to divert attention for the main issues of Terrorism and Illegal Possession of arms. To me it doesn't matter whether the FBI,KGB or MOSSADS, are involve since Hezbollah is seen as a Terrorist Organization, the point is that the Nigeria Judiciary should deal with the substance of the case promptly and expeditiously bring out sound judgement to rid our country of terrorist that do not mean well for our country. |
Demdem: What an Incorruptible Judge. An examplenary judge. We can't be too sure.... |
Why can't we be truthful for once?change is a constant phenomenon as well as a gradual process, at least there has been significant changes in the distribution of power, i am an ardent critic of the govt on power, but sincerely these days the situation has improved in Jos, i was in Bauchi the other week, my uncle was praising the govt for a job well done. Things may not be perfect but let's be fair in our assessment and hope that power keeps improving as they promised us. |
I envy the mad Professor's literary brilliance, but i fear for him been politically partisan, careful he must be or his good name will be dragged to the mud soon. |
The OP is is busy smiling for misleading gullible Nairalanders, why should i believe a lie that is unfounded, this post is just a height of mischief, i am very sure the OP is nursing such arrangement is his mind.. |
Sokoto – The Nigerian Army said on Thursday that a suspected terrorist had been shot dead by soldiers and the State Security Services (SSS) in a joint operation in Sokoto. Brig.-Gen. Tasi’u Ibrahim, the Commander, 1 Brigade, Nigerian Army, Sokoto, said at a news conference in Sokoto that the incident took place in Gidan-Dare, near Sokoto. According to Ibrahim, one suspect was also captured alive while 11 family members of the suspected terrorists were rescued and secured. He said that five of the secured members were women, including two pregnant women and children. ” The pregnant women are now receiving ante-natal care at the Brigade’s clinic,” he said. The commander said the operation was carried out after a tip-off, adding that ”the house was being used as a terrorist hide-out’’. He said there were no fatalities on the side of the army or SSS. ‘’ The operation was clinically and carefully carried out and in line with the existing global rules of engagement,’’ he added. Ibrahim said some of the weapons recovered from the house included six AK 47 and one pomp action rifles, 13 explosive devices and a vehicle with registration number EL 295 ABJ. In this holy month of Ramadan, one may wonder how these people are hell-bent in causing the breach of the peace. ‘’All well-meaning and law-abiding Nigerians will continue to be protected and secured. “The army will make every effort to ensure that the innocent do not suffer.’’ While commending the people of the state for their sustained cooperation to the security agencies, Ibrahim cautioned the residents against renting their houses to unknown persons. The conference was attended by Air Commodore Hanbali Tukur, the Commander, 55 Forward Operation Base, Nigeria Air Force, Sokoto; the Commissioner of Police, Alhaji Shu’aibu Gambo and the Director of SSS, Alhaji Jubril Danmalam.(NAN) - See more at: http://www.vanguardngr.com/2013/07/soldiers-sss-kill-suspected-terrorist-in-sokoto/#sthash.s4cyVsZd.dpuf http://www.vanguardngr.com/2013/07/soldiers-sss-kill-suspected-terrorist-in-sokoto/ |

Ameachi as the chief security officer should be held responsible, enough of this one sided story |
Fielding BUHARI as the APC candidate will signal the end of the party, at lest the General told that the 2011 elections will be the last one he will contest when he cried like a baby, he should go back to Daura and be enjoying his pension, once beaten twice shy... ![]() |
Congratulations, but i still doubt the characters that formed the party, i pray they won't crumble before the 2015 elections.. ![]() |
That can't not be true...i don't think GEJ is this undemocratic, i still consider him as a gentle man... |
musiwa29: the state of education in Nigeria is so bad. ASUU is standing on moral ground. If ASUU dont go on strike. They will not fix it. the only people that can make them fix education in nigeria is ASUU. Only ASUU can force Jonathan to fix the schools. All over nigeria. All primary and secondary now sit on the floor.Agreed ASUU is right in seeking redress, but we must aware that the ASUU demand is not a new phenomenon, to be fair to the GEJ'S administration, it has experience lesser strikes of ASUU,I think in th overall interest of the nation, the union should call of the industrial action, negotiations and compromises are by of life...we will get there gradually. |
I don't no for this ASUU oh, since i was a child in the early 90s during the military era,ASUU has been using strike as a tool, i could vividly remember the former Head of State Sani Abatch blessed memory once said that who is ASUU dissolved, no doubt strike is a way of getting attention and the last resort when negotiations fail. But the undertone behind ASUU strike has always been monetary, selfish and have no interest of the Nigerian students, as far as i am concern ASUU is a just a misguided Association whose interests is their stomach |
It is an open secret that Northern leaders are responsible for the region's backwardness, the hard truth is that the North has no leaders only politicians who are full of sentiments ans selfishness, i envy the south at least they have leaders that are chopping money but working, but northern leaders are concerned abt themselves and their families, ist so pathetic |
As far as i am concern, nothing will happen, Nigeria will continue to be Nigeria, he will leave out his tenure to 2019 as the commander in chief...if the people vote him as President again, nobody can stop him God from becoming what God has destined him to be period.... |
I don't blame the likes of Junaid or what is that is name, the problem of some Nigerians is that if they are looking for cheap popularity they will begin to insult the personalities of individuals,i think Junaid is the biggest illiterate for making such unconventional comments... |
Power pass power.... |
