raumdeuter: If you were not partying in the 70s its surely tougher for many people now, You were given free lunches in Uni, not available anymore, the facilities in colleges have broken down
Why wont people long for those days when you can get into University have clean hostels, feeding and graduate with good job prospects
First, did you not argue against free food for American students? Yet here you are calling it the good old days in Nigeria. Is that what dump is bringing back in US too. If so, maga!
When Jakande introduced free education in Lagos, he literally took the education one person was eating and divided it into food for 3 other people who had not been getting any education.
That one person who had a whole plate of education to themself was not happy, but the starving 3 who now got some education were delighted.
You are not meant to understand the above, note, but the point is that university you talk of in the 70s was for a select few compared to the population at large.
kiddaz: Arrant n0nesënê... If you're not comfortable with transparency you should be single. It's shady individuals who use this cheap trust card to manipulate their partners. Which consequences pass say you go? You go better for me. I choose peace of mind over any fake manipulative "trust"
Shouldn't you stay single if you can't trust your partner? You gonna be searching her phone and monitoring her every step too?
Dude, please! You are not the only guy out there, so of course I wouldn't even relate with you in the first place, since you insecurity would have been obvious from day one.
CaptainJune: Spiritual death means separation from God.
Why was this spiritual death not given to the creation in the Image of God who was told "every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food"?
Why was the Image of God not told "not to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat from it you will certainly die”?
FreeSpirited: Did God say the day you eat out of the tree you shall die? Yes that was the first warning. And that means Adam die. And since Adam dint die immediately physically, that means what that verse implies is that Adam became dead spiritually ....
The wuruwuru to your answer amuses me much.
Adam that "became dead spiritually", went on to be self employed and populated the earth, we read, and lived like another 800 years and then died. And if 10% of that was offered to most, I'm certain the response will be, "Kill me now. I'll eat the fruit of the tree, thank you very much".
But one must also recognise that some would rather be naked ignorant slaves for ever, I guess, though I can't understand why.
raumdeuter: Was there anyone here who claimed that fuel was constant and student didn't riot? Where did you get that from or you dug it up from the usual place you dig up your conjectures
The below was someone, but I'm certain that person will now try to wriggle out of saying what they wrote.
raumdeuter: Maybe its just your imagination that is telling you MAGA means something other than MAGA. And that is your own issue. If you say I want to Make Nigeria Great Again to be like in the 70s or 80s when graduates don't go without a job, or ASUU strike no fuel queues But your mind suddenly thinks its to make Nigeria Great means to make it Fulani again or make it military rule again. Then that is on you
raumdeuter: Captain bvious. Surely the technology was new and increasing then so its surely going to be more electricity now than then
People who lived some feel their lives were better then and want to go back to those easier times, You are free to call their Make Nigeria Grat Again and tag it Make Nigeria Fulani Again
Captain not research and not observe, there's people who said their lifes were worse under Biden too.
The solution is, go see, or rather, hear the opinion of an otologist instead of Nairaland babaláwos.
Comfortableme: I am having problem with one of my ears, the thing is that sometimes it will just do as if am not hearing as am supposed to, but when I pull it I will hear well and the moment I leave it it will be gradually gown down and I won't hear well again, but the other one is not like that. Pls what's the solution. Thank you
raumdeuter: In 2025, Many places in Nigeria still do not have uninterrupted electricity, Many places still do not have a transformer nor electric poles, Many people still go to bed hungry
There may be many places like you claim in 2025, but it can't be as many places as lacked those things in the 70s.
But I do expect you to argue otherwise. It's what you do.
raumdeuter: Scientific process starts with observation and researching why what you observed is so to eliminate what could not be and isolate what could be.
Exactly. And that's why you shouldn't accept "ANY opinions both founded and unfounded", like how you accepted some imaginary unfounded great past Nigeria where fuel was constant and students didn't riot without bothering to observe and research, which is science.
People who observe and research will not take serious anything you say if that's your approach, and is why many of us don't take RFK serious.
IjeBos: He said it is RFK's suggestion and opinion. Lol Then asks what is yours. Lol. This is the "common sense" he always talks about. What's crazy is people who think like you are currently running the US. God Help Us
I always do find common sense to be inferior sense, as minimum effort is required for its acquisition, but some seem to value it for some reason.
Common means just about everyone can easily have it. As in, no effort is required for its acquisition. While superior sense requires a lot of effort, which makes it not common to all.
raumdeuter: When you see something of that proportion increase and no suitable solution is in the way, that leaves room for ANY opinions both founded and unfounded.
I don't think you studied science in school, or you at least learnt nothing of the scientific method. If you did, you wouldn't be peddling the above, which is the same îgnorant logic as ajẹ je ke la nọ, ọmọ ku lo ni. Tani ko mọ pé ajẹ lo pa ọmọ. I call it the epitome of non-brain use.
raumdeuter: Someone can campaign in Nigeria that they want to make Nigeria Great again like when people gt jobs immediately after school, when Schools fed students, as evidence that Nigeria was Great then. If you now choose to make it Make it Fulani again thats on you
He is responsible for what he says not what you understand
Except that we judge him by what he does, and it looks more like mtga than anything else to many.
For your information, "when Schools fed students", only a tiny portion of Nigerians went to school, and those who didn't go went hungry.
In those same 70s, some will tell you Nigeria had uninterrupted electricity, while in those same 70s, the transformer will blow on Bola Adewunmi in Obanikoro, and we'd not have light for 3 months. Electric poles did not even exist in the Orolu Kingdom of Ifon Osun till the 80s, so I doubt we could possibly had had uninterrupted electricity in the 70s.
I've just bought Herman Hesse's Siddhartha for an old man who claims no one starved in Ife in the 40-50s. This old man grew up in the palace and thinks everyone was eating like he ate. My mum and dad tell a very different story of that same 40-50s. I suggest you get a copy and read it instead of making crap up about periods you seem to know nothing of.
I do doubt the Dominican "one party can file for a divorce" law would apply in Nigeria where they got married if they've been living as a married couple in Nigeria all that time.
Hopefully Christina is seeking her divorce in Nigeria, though I must wonder why.
raumdeuter: I didnt live in those times, but many believed Nigeria was better then than it is now and wont mind going back to those days when things were "easier"
What many might believe is not necessarily what is true, you should know by now.
I lived in Nigeria in the 70s, and can safely tell you that my Nigeria then was worse than the Nigerian of today, while some will tell you how great Nigeria was for them in the same period. However, fuel shortage and riots were rather common, though the oil boom did temporarily create employment.
It's the same way maga can mean make America great again to some, and mean "make it Fulani again or make it military rule again" to others. Or is that not why you have the Left and the Right?
raumdeuter: Maybe its just your imagination that is telling you MAGA means something other than MAGA. Then that is on you
raumdeuter, you definitely did not live in the 70s or 80s when graduates were jobless and students were rioting and fuel was short, so I can't therefore trust your view on what maga might mean to some in US. Sorry.
Kobojunkie: Common sense is not easily found on the streets.
Sorry, but I beg to differ.
Common means just about everyone can easily have it. As in, no effort is required for its acquisition. While superior sense requires a lot of effort, which makes it not common to all.
Kobojunkie: I have never been a feminist.... I am a common-senser!
I'm my own opinion that's even worse, because common things are stuff one easily finds on the streets with very little effort, while much effort is required for superior sense use.
raumdeuter: Every data shows that there has been a dramatic increase even by the eye test and by your eye test. If you knew 2 in your time, the average 16yr old nowadays probably knows 30 people
That is Nigerian problem and Natasha is rightly addressing it as a Nigerian senator
raumdeuter: When you do not have a solution to a pressing problem everything becomes an option. I am sure many of the people you see in churches and miracle houses also get there through desperation, when you have a problem and no solution in sight you believe anything
Raum, I am really not that stupîd or ïgnorant.
I'm currently fighting a family member who believes her half brother made me ill. She's a UK trained nurse who should know better than to be trying to fill my head with such rubbish.
When I have a problem, I look for the cause and then find a solution instead of ïgnorantly believing RFK or drinking bleach.
raumdeuter: So when did the word MAGA that has been used by multiple politicians become a bad thing
It became a bad thing when it's underlying meaning became MAWA.
raumdeuter: Or when did Making America Great become bad
When those for whom it meant MAWA got hold of it.
raumdeuter: Will Making Nigeria Great Again also be a bad slogan
Depends what is meant by it, though I think we might have an arguement about when Nigeria was great that we now want to again. But it thankfully can't mean MAWA.
The W is a colour, in case you are guessing. That's what it means to some.
raumdeuter: Compare when you were growing up and now. How many people did you know who couldnt talk of function normally by age 15 or 20.
This is lame. And is not how data is gathered at all.
When I was growing up I knew 2 people who could not talk or function normally by age 15-20, and I know a different two people now that I am still growing up who can not talk or function normally by age 15-20.
raumdeuter: That is something a society should be worried about cos it jeopardizes your future whatever is causing it should be investigated and addressed or cured. Imagine the trauma of the millions and thousands of parents who have to deal with this. When you are faced with a condition where medical practitioners have no solutions and basically just live with it, Its not so soothing for those living with it
I agree. Can you please write to Senator Natasha to let her know you support her bill to establish Autism centers across Nigeria please.
raumdeuter: That is RFKs suggestion and opinion, what is yours for why 1 in 2000 became 1 in 23
My opinion doesn't really matter since I'm not the United States Secretary of Health and Human Services making policy, but I would suggest more awareness. Or we cure it with koboko. Least my ma would have, I shamefully say.
Take Nigeria for instance. Autism is very not on our agenda, though one could argue some might have it. But we wouldn't know until we start focusing on it.
And after writing the above, gratitude to Roland17 who has put more effort in than I could bother with.
Roland17: Neurological conditions like Autism are complex diagnosis with multiple factors, so it is difficult to totally isolate one factor. However, extensive peer research have been consistent about genetics being a primary factor. A lot has changed in our environment, lifestyle and genetic since 1980. The study of neurological conditions like Autism and Cerebral palsy have come a long long way since research into it started.
In 1980, we did not have as much data to actually determine true prevalence. In comparison to the 2000s and now, most families in the 80s did not want speak about conditions like Autism because of the stigma associated. Consequently, you can't actually use data from the 80s to make an actual comparative argument. Also, keep in mind that there are varying severities of Autism- Mild/ Moderate/ Severe.
Neurological disorders like Autism and IDD are massively underreported in developing countries like Nigeria. We have almost 0 data on the actual prevalence of Autism. It is 2025 and we just saw Senator Natasha put together a bill to establish Autism centers across Nigeria.
GeneralOuki: That person is a hypocrite and too feminine centric with his/her views. Here below is this same person advising the wives to run/disassociate/ cut off from in-laws that gives them problems.
Oi! I'm feminist too! But feminism don't wash in this instance. Unless we want to be arguing the ops wife should marry both her ex and her current, which I can find an argument for if I try really really hard to be illogical and irrational and non-objective indeed.
