I as a consumer of entertainment know that Hollywood is fast losing it to chinese and other Asian Pacific nations as far as entertainment is concerned.
Platforms like Netflix is projected in the near future to make most of it's gains from Asian Pacific and with the influx of cheaper streaming sites from china and India, America is on a long thing.

Netflix has about 300 million subscribers while tencrnt, IQIYI, jiostar are clocking 600 million from Asian Pacific where Netflix projects to make her gains from like 5 years coming. And these companies have their English platforms headquartered in America.
So they sell their products to the world from America extremely cheaper than America that will buy from them and sell to the world.
Hope you understand the breakdown before you start your condemnation.

I explained why I left Netflix like a month ago or so and others who love asian dramas are leaving in their numbers. We have joined these Asian Pacific platforms cos 1, they are more interactive. Like a forum.
2, they are fast. Netflix comes late to the table and takes like months to finish airing as far as deamas from these countries are concerned. Not ready to wait. They don't stream.
3, they are very cheap. I pay around 200 plus for Netflix yearly. With that, I subscribe for vip or standard pass for 4 streaming platforms and still get change. Every year, Netflix is adding more money for subscription.
4, Asian Pacific dramas and series are where the fun is now.
5, you can even watch their drams on youtube. Netflix won't do that.
So why will I need Netflix.

Prime is worst.
An amazon prime member but will not go for their movies or drama. Why should I rent a drama to watch. Dem dey ment?

(ABC 6 News) – The Olmsted County Attorney’s Office dismissed charges against Mohamed Hussein Omer and Sharmake Beyle Omar in March of 2025.

Court documents state that the case was dismissed “in the interest of justice.”

I am willing to bet that at the end of day, over 95% of companies will pass that tariff on for the simple reason that there is no clear, long-term policy in the actual numbers...... Why should most companies publicly announce an absorption of tariff policy, when the tariff could change tomorrow?

GM cannot pass on the tariffs to consumers because automakers are having to discount their models and throw incentives at the market to sell their vehicles so that they can keep their production lines going. After the massive price hikes during the pandemic, there is no more room left to hike prices. Consumers have had it.

But profit margins in the auto industry have been huge following those massive price hikes, and the companies can eat those tariffs, show up with lower profits, and still be fine.

The stated dual purpose of tariffs is to first change the math for manufacturing in the US, and second, to increase tax revenues. Tariffs were the original tax revenues in the US, predating income taxes.

If a company finds it cheaper to manufacture abroad , it should be encouraged so that the citizens can buy the same quality at cheaper prices than if it's made in USA.
That means those companies make more profits which increases the IRS revenue. Win win. More revenue and cheaper high quality products.

The way some people have been given Nigeria bad name anywhere they go is really alarming.

A bargain? This is a misinterpretation of how bonds work sir. You have completely missed out the fundamentals of risk and default.

In June 2025, the US has to refinance about $8Trn worth of Treasuries. Those bills were issued in about 2015 with a coupon date of about 2.1% if i am right. Then it would cost the Treasury $170bn a year.

At the current 4.25% yield rate, it will cost $340bn to finance the same debt.

So if the UK were to dump $700bn of US bonds and yields went up to say, I don't know.... your median figure of 8% now; this means the US has to refinance same debt in June 2025, at a stagerring coupon rate of $650bn per year!!!!

To put things in perspective, this is more than the annual budget of the Navy, Army, Airforce and Marines combined. This will means that effectively, the US is bankrupt.

The secondary effects of crash of the US dollar, the Fed having to raise interest rates to 8% will make sure that GDP goes to sleep forever.

And this is why Nobody, I mean Nobody, will touch it.

The 10-year Treasury yield is currently at 4.28%, compared to the German 10-year yield of 2.51%, the Japanese 10-year yield of 1.20%, or the Canadian 10-year yield of 3.08%. One of the exceptions is the UK 10-year yield, at 4.61%.

These higher yields for Treasury securities make them very attractive to foreign buyers. We saw that this buying continued at the 10-year and 30-year Treasury auctions last week, and at the 20-year Treasury auction today: There was blistering demand from “indirect bidders,” a category that includes foreign bidders.
