In the letter, al-Kaabi expressed concern over a proposed EU directive that would require large companies operating in Europe to ensure respect for human rights and environmental protections throughout their supply chains.

The EU's Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD) calls for large European companies and non-EU players with a strong presence on the continent to “address adverse human rights and environmental impacts” throughout their global operations.

I've collated some views wrt America
EU deal.
EU will buy $750B of gas to reduce Russia dependency. Last I checked EU is a 27 nation block. It doesn't buy anything,best it can do is negotiate on behalf of it's members. Countries within EU according to the agreement have the option of buying Qatari gas for example if it's cheaper. Definitely it is due to distance and abundance.

Catch. EU countries don't export too much to above example Qatar. They do intra trade and quite a number main export is to America.
They will buy LNG gas at a higher price from America. But thats the beauty of contractual futures and hedging.
